#Sonozaki Fumine

Kamen Rider W, 2326 words. Fang is not the only living Gaia Memory in Fuuto. Each of the children of the Sonozaki family had one. And each tended to do a lot of talking to them.
I have been so excited to introduce Horn and Talon to this AU. I love them so very much. Also featuring my favorite part of writing this AU: getting to ask myself “Has anyone ever tried to do X?” and getting to answer immediately “Yes, Raito has absolutely tried that.” He’s a very fun character to write.

W Modern AU/No Powers AU where Fumine makes Fang as Philip’s personal little guard dog/robot, except he isn’t sentient and is just a high tech robot.
At first she made Fang to be a playmate/little robot pet for young Philip, but she added on more features as he got older. Philip develops a habit of wandering off when something catches his attention? She programs Fang to follow him and keep him safe, along with a way for her to track Fang. Philip begins to forget to eat while researching? She has Fang programmed to remind Philip of meal times.
It’s too much that her son’s pet robot’s jaw has enough force to dent metal? No it’s not, don’t bother her with that. It’s a danger that said robot can drag an adult male? No, that’s to drag Philip to the couch if he passes out while researching.
Bonus: Fumine made little guardbot pets for Saeko and Wakana too, they would would be based on Taboo and Claydoll respectively. Their robots never became as advanced as Fang because the girls did not need some of the same features. Also, developing Fang became a kind of bonding activity for Fumine and Philip along with working on AU equivalents of some of the other W robots and machinery.

some headcanons
so about those Sonozakis
Ryubee is declared officially dead after the mansion is destroyed, and it's even possible his body is recovered and identified. There are a lot of conspiracy theories about him being still alive for a really long time, especially among criminal underworld types who had any kind of awareness of Museum, but I think anyone who really understood him would know that he would have made his presence known at some point if he were still alive, especially when the Utopia stuff was going down
I'm not sure about Fumine. I'm split on whether Ryubee would have had her quietly declared dead at some point to clean up that loose end, or if he would have let her stay legally alive out of apathy to her revenge plans / subconsciously leaving the door open for them to resume living as husband and wife again, with some bogus cover story about her withdrawing from public life after the death of her son. I'm also not sure if she would have been declared legally dead after her real death. Either way, I think she knew she was dying and was in a good enough headspace to set things up to be easy for Wakana, so Wakana (and then ultimately Philip) was able to execute her unofficial will and take possession of her property (workshops and research and bank accounts and sentimental keepsakes and photographs and journals) and had some route for laying her to rest that didn't involve being alone with a body in the woods and no idea what to do with it.
Saeko's body was quickly officially discovered and she is legally dead. I don't think Foundation X would have cared enough to cover up what happened.
Hmmm... I'm leaning towards Philip enlisting help to get Wakana declared legally dead, though I could also see him being satisfied with just a private unconventional remembrance of some kind with his loved ones. It makes me sad to think of her as this like, "last living Sonozaki escapes from an institution, who knows what evil schemes she's cooking up" urban legend. (Even though with the squad being unable to provide a body or any evidence or explanation of how she died, that would probably happen anyway.) I think there were a lot of people who truly appreciated her show and her love of Fuuto and her affectionate promotions of local businesses, and some of them would have still cared and mourned her even after all the wild shit that went down with the Sonozakis. As with Shroud, I think Wakana was in a good enough headspace to put her affairs in order, and what little personal property she could still access was readily available for Philip.
Raito has been legally dead since the well incident. I think Philip could manage to reclaim his original identity if he wanted to, but I picture he never bothers. The Narumi Detective Agency repurposes some of Shroud's hideouts into safehouses for vulnerable clients and claims some other useful assets from her, between Shroud and Wakana's preparations he has some photos and keepsakes of them and one or two for Saeko and maybe even Ryubee (plus any archives of Wakana's broadcasts), and I forget if we got an official in-story discussion of this but I assume he's able to read about his family in the Gaia Archives now. And most importantly, he has Mick. So there's no need for him to fight for their wealth or their property that's now a smoking ruin or anything like that.

Some Shroud/Phillip headcannons?
Well, to Shroud, Philip will always be Raito, even though the two might as well be different people.
Philip on the other hand knows this, however he wished that she called him by the name he chose to be called by.
Philip understood why his mother did the things she did... but he never understood why she never liked Shoutaro.
Shroud’s initial dislike of Shou mostly came from his mistake messing up her plans, not to mention her childhood friend Sokichi died because of that mistake.
Shroud realized eventually that Shou gave her son something far more valuable than a new lease on life. He loved her son, and he made him happy.

Courageous Question
Shoutaro has met the Terror Dopant before he became a Kamen Rider, even before his mentor died. Naturally, he asks the one question that plagued his mind upon learning that the Sonozaki Patriarch was aware of him and Philip as Kamen Rider W.
Why?

"Fear of me, Terror." The Sonozaki patriarch laughed as he descended the stairs.
"Why?!" Shoutaro managed to gather enough courage to shout his question as he leaned on the glass railing, still shivering in fear of the Sonozaki patriarch.
"I'm assuming you're asking why I let you live even after knowing who was really behind Kamen Rider W?" Ryubei stopped walking.
Shoutaro focused on Ryubei's words, still shivering from the terror of being in the presence of the Sonozaki.
"It was a shame that Narumi Soukichi perished under Fumine's, no Shroud's, request." Ryubei commented facing the Joker-half of W. "I suppose the two of them having known each other since they were children might have been a factor."
Shoutaro frowned; the Sonozaki patriarch did not answer the question.
"I have to admit, you had grown, Hidari-kun." Ryubei praised. "Gone was the boy who looked like a lost puppy who kept following Narumi-kun around," He looked at the museum's ceiling. "Between the two of us, I have always kept tabs on you even before Narumi-kun was killed retrieving Raito from Museum."
"S-still, why?" Shoutaro gulped.
"I was intrigued, you could say, and I wanted Raito to grow until at least he can use the Xtreme Memory."
Ryubei turned his back on the shivering detective and continued walking toward his initial destination.
Shoutaro gathered the courage to stand up, albeit shakily, and was determined to find Terui.
Maybe with the Sonozaki patriarch nowhere nearby, he'd be able to help his fellow Kamen Rider in retrieving the Evil Tail.

Kamen Rider W, 1704 words. Raito is informed something interesting would be revealed at the weekly family dinner. He decides to actually attend.
Hey! More Butterfly fic!
I had to basically invent what Raito is like from the ground up, since he wouldn’t be the same person as Philip. There are similarities, both are driven mostly by curiousity, but unlike Philip Raito’s moral compass is a roulette wheel, and has a tendancy to just not exist. He’s terrible, I love him. So here’s a look at what he’s like and also the dynamics of that whole family in this AU!

“Also, my Boss told me that you are quite humble even though you are a god so didn’t need to be afraid of you,” Shotaro continued.
Raito looked away. A humble god huh? Raito thought. What a nice way to say useless.
“Anyway. My name is Hidari Shotaro. Nice to meet you Raito,” Shotaro said then, he knelt before bowing his head.
Raito was a bit shocked. Then, he became flustered. This was the first time a human knelt before him.
“AH, you don’t need to bow or kneel or do anything really. Ju-just leave me alone,” Raito said.
Shotaro stood up, confused. “Eh? But you’re still a god. A god deserved to be worship. Thats why I bring some fruits today as offerings for you,” he replied.
