The Shepherds of Haven Soundtrack (Volume 1) is Now Out!

Over the last several months, I've been working with the brilliant composer, Ivan Duch, to develop an official soundtrack for Shepherds of Haven! Volume 1 of that soundtrack is out today!

This volume contains 16 songs, including theme songs for specific characters like Shery, Riel, Chase, Red, and Trouble; motifs and signature music for the game and numerous locations throughout its alpha build; and so much more! 

Working with Ivan to create this album has been such a blast. I'm pretty new to working with a composer and commissioning custom music based on locations and characters that exist only in text (and my imagination), but Ivan is a bonafide genius and master of his craft. Seriously, if you have any desire to commission an orchestral or instrumental piece based on your own stories or characters, I can safely say you should run, not walk, to work with him! I have nothing but resounding praise for his work and how easy and fun this collaboration has been. :) Work on Volume 2 has already been started as well!

GENERAL

name: Elyana Trick, but no one uses her first name. NO ONE. Tbh, no one who’s met her in the last...eight or nine years knows she has one. She’s just Trick.

gender: cis female

place of birth: unknown, raised in Maj

occupation: captain in the Shepherds, occasional bodyguard or tavern server

APPEARANCE

eye colour: dark, dark brown. Practically black, unless the light hits them just right, then they look chocolatey, faint glow of iladrin

hair colour: coppery reddish-brown, white streak just to the left of center from her Hunter heritage. She usually wears it it a dutch braid

height: 5’9”

scars: a few. Slash on one shoulder, little white nicks at the base of her right thumb, slash hidden under her hair behind her left ear, clean-through bullet scar on her left thigh. Nasty scar on her right shin from a compound fracture that broke through the skin; that one still.aches and makes her limp a little in bad weather.

burns: pretty much the whole left half of her face; jawline up to an inch above where her eyebrow would be if it was still there. misses her nose by about an inch(that eye’s a bit clouded and she’s blind on that side) and goes over her ear practically to the scar that’s back there. Acid burn on the outside half of her left hand.

overweight: no

underweight: no, but she pushes it sometimes

They were only letting in  “wounded”, so she shot herself in the leg to get in with said “wounded”

Wow, what a journey it's been! The complete soundtrack for Shepherds of Haven, spanning across 32 original songs and two full-length albums, is now officially finished! You can listen to this latest album over on composer Ivan Duch's website!

This volume also contains 16 songs, including theme songs for the remaining Shepherds and other major characters, such as Tallys, Ayla, Halek, Briony, Lavinet, Mimir, Croelle, Prihine, and Caine; motifs and signature music for the game's numerous locations like Heth Macoll, Capra, and the Elven Quarter; and so much more! But beware: if you haven't played the alpha build, there's probably a spoiler or two lurking in there. 😉

As always, watching Ivan's creative process as he's turned the game's textual descriptions and fictional narratives into sonic adventures has been an incredible experience. If you ever feel a desire to commission a cinema-quality piece of music for your own stories or characters (including your own Brightburner), he's open for commissions and is amazing to work with!

Hi! Just wanted to ask, is Blade's theme anywhere in volume 1 or 2? Or will there be a volume 3?

Hi, this was answered here! In short, Blade's Theme and a few other songs were composed a few years back by a different composer, Irene Chan, so those songs wouldn't be included in Ivan's albums or website. They will be featured in the game as well as included in my "complete" version of the OST when the game is complete and out for purchase, though! In the meantime, you can listen to them over on Patreon!

How could you leave out blade's theme 😭😭 BUT OMG THE MUSIC IS INCREDIBLE

Blade's theme wasn't composed by Ivan Duch (but by Irene Chan), so it wasn't included in Ivan's release, but it will be included in both the final version of the game and my version of its OST, which will feature the other songs done by other artists as well! 🙂 And yay, I'm so glad you're enjoying the music, it really is all phenomenal!!! 💖

You know, hypothetically, if you were to make a trailer for Shoh what song and what kinda style would you do? Just noticed the thing on the banner of the intro post was a gif, so got curious!

Hi there, good question! We've actually answered this one before, and my answers are largely the same: in my ultimate fantasy world where ShoH was turned into an anime, I'd love for it to have an opening like Attack on Titan (seasons 2 or 3), Persona 5, or an outro like Jujutsu Kaisen (season 1). If you're talking about like an actual game trailer like Dragon Age or something, I have no idea lol, I'm really horrible with thinking of things like music or visuals! 🤣 My brain has a hard time working that way!
