ateez watching indian movies with you

author's note: i'm a brown atiny who majored in film aka bollywood/indian movies are a huge part of my identity— i was watching kal ho naa ho the other night nd was thinking abt whether or not atz would watch indian movies w me and what their reactions would be. also, i def missed a huge chunk of movies so pls excuse me ehe

hongjoong: this poor baby he's so dedicated to his work but would do his best to make time for the two of you to watch a three hour long indian movie with you, only to fall asleep part way through. he'd last the first 10-15 minutes then pass out, and if you're watching a south indian film, he'll immediately wake tf up when a gun goes off or during the first fight scene. he'd really want to watch rrr with you but fully fall asleep, only to be scared awake during the scene with ntr jr (bheem) wrestling the tiger and be scared shitless from there. however, if you're watching a romcom? gl bc the man is definitely fully asleep and will wake up at the end and say, "that was good i enjoyed it!" you want to be mad at him, but he looks so well rested that you're glad he enjoyed the movie in some way, shape, or crazy form. but fr he'd love the movies that are super detailed and conceptual like if he watched pushpa: the rise, he's definitely highly anticipating pushpa: the rule. he's a 2 part film kinda guy imo he loves the long development and the intensive research and the dedication a director puts into his work. i think he's a rajamouli guy for sure. maybe even like sholay, lagaan, english vinglish— you get the idea.

seonghwa: seonghwa's a super emotional audience member— everything affects him so deeply, especially scenes with heartbreak or little kids. like, the scene in kuch kuch hota hai where kajol (anjali) finds out that srk (rahul) is in love with rani mukherji (tina) and she's just sobbing and then the song plays? hwa is fully sobbing. he's like clinging to you and drying his eyes and you're patting his back while whispering "it's just a movie it's okay" but it's not okay because unrequited love HURTS. he's definitely more of a bollywood romcom person and probably will want to binge all of srk's movies with you one night, and during the most romantic songs, he'll stand up and copy the iconic srk stance (you know the one with his arms stretched out and then the female lead runs into his arms) and he'll 100% expect you to run into his arms. he's a karan johar bitch fr... either karan johar or yrf. i feel like he wouldn't really vibe with south indian films and end up preferring the sappy, bollywood romcom. but, he's totally an indian serial slut and would binge everything like there's no tomorrow (yeh rishta, iss pyaar ko kya naam doon?, bade achhe lagte hain, and so on) but in terms of movies, he'd love kabhi alvida naa kehna, kabhi kushi khabi gham, kal ho naa ho, dostana, kuch kuch hota hai, chalte chalte (just call him an srk stan and move on).

yunho: one word: golmaal. he would love the shit outta rohit shetty i'm telling you. like, yes, he appreciates the fine cinema that comes from india, but rohit shetty's got him rolling on the floor in fits. yunho gives such bakwas indian movie vibes but we're here for it— like, the dumbassary in golmaal 2 is everything to him, and chennai express would send him into fits (especially the drunk srk scene). he'd also 100% get up on his feet and start dancing to the upbeat songs in the films more than anything, though, he would fully make fun of the super dramatic scenes with the bawling and sobbing— and i'm not talking about truly tragic scenes but like when the sadness is overdramatic and it suddenly starts raining while the main character is crying (specifically the song tujhe yaad na meri aayee from kuch kuch hota hai) so it's safer to stick to the dumb funny movies... maybe give good newwz a whirl

yeosang: yeosangie is happy to do anything and everything with you even if he knows the movie will confuse the shit outta him. you'd probably start the guy off on the sequel to a movie (my brain immediately went don 2 or dhoom 2) and he'll be so mad confused the whole time, so he'll keep asking you questions during the movie because he wants to be just as invested in it as you are. more than anything, though, he's more invested in you explaining the movie because of how passionately you talk about the plot and the characters and the dialogue— you might as well forego the movie and just describe the movie to him while spooning in bed. that being said, he'd probably also rewatch the movie a couple of times to fully wrap his head around the film now that he's acquired your commentary and can pair it with the visuals in the film. either that or the poor thing would fall asleep... but he'd fall asleep on your shoulder and just sink into your embrace so fuck the movie just cuddle and take a nap while armaan malik sings in the background

san: san is such a wild card imo but let's be real i feel like he'd be such a horndog while watching movies so it doesn't even matter what movie you put on he'll only be half present, especially if the don series or race series or lust stories is playing oh dear god don't show this man cocktail if you want to actually watch a movie with you... or pathaan dear lord help BUT i feel like he'd be more interested in the family related movies— like where family is everything so k3g, ala vaikunthapurramuloo, bomarillu, chillar party, main hoon na, tararumpum, etc. also maybe even the ones about friendship, so zindagi naa milegi dobara, 3 idiots, dil chahta hai, jaane tu ya jaane na, rang de basanti, kai po che— again, the wildest of cards. he'd be down to see anything honestly. anything for his love wink wonk

mingi: god this boy i feel like he would ask all the questions in the world like every other dialogue it's just another question (but they're all related to the movie so it's... okay?) but he just won't have the patience to wait for the next scene to answer his question. no, he wants to know from you so movies like 83, chak de india, dil bole hadippa, paan singh tomar, jersey (BUT THE TELUGU ONE JFC NOT THE HINDI ONE I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH), dangal, basically any sports movie would be best for him because most of his questions would be about the sport so there's no chance of you spoiling the movie for him but i feel like he'd also be a huge priyanka chopra fan but some of her filmography is........ traumatizing? confusing? i'm thinking fashion specifically for trauma while what's your raashee? is just so unbelievably confusing. he'd also like deepika padukone, alia bhaat, samantha, rashmika— as long as she's pretty and a talented actress, mingi's gonna vibe

wooyoung: indian movies are his jam imo he'd get up on his feet every single song and dance his heart out even if the song is super duper sad (man's is fully dancing to naatu naatu but then also sadly jamming to komuram bheemudo two seconds later the duality is insane). his favorite actors are definitely allu arjun, vijay, hrithik roshan, varun dhawan, tamannaah— and he would rewatch the shit outta abcd and dhoom 2 because the dance numbers are truly impeccable. movies like abcd, rab ne bana di jodi, chance pe dance are right up his alley but i also feel like he'd have fun watching bunty aur babli, jhoom barabar jhoom, race gurram, etc. he's a happy-go-lucky kinda movie guy, imo

jongho: jongho's the type to be super judgmental but like in the best way possible. he sits and watches the movie quietly with his arms crossed over his chest and his eyebrows furrowed. super quiet and super serious. you sneak glances at him every so often but you seriously can't tell what's going on in his head until he debriefs you after the movie is done, which could go one of two ways: he spares your feelings and tells you he likes the movie (if you tell him that this movie is your most favorite movie in the world) or be completely straightforward with you and dive into an in-depth film analysis. i feel like he'd prefer the movies with gorgeous soundtracks though and want to learn to sing some of the songs (we hate kabir singh in this house but bekhayali would shake his world, and fanaa oh lord he would love that ost with all of his heart... maybe even the main hoon na ost) but lordy any ost with sid sriram is his JAM

NINE.FIVE — JULY 30, 2022, 7:30PM

seonghwa didn't know why he agreed to go along, maybe it was the promise of his regular pack of cigarettes, but wooyoung, yeosang, and hongjoong were all goofing off, saying it's because he was curious about how the girl lived. the girl, who he honestly couldn't remember the name of.

the quartet parked inside the parking garage of her building, just able to squeeze past the barrier. and wooyoung immediately pulled his phone off his holder on his bike, "she's on the third floor." he waved to his friends, immediately running out the parking garage and around to the main doors.

hongjoong sighed, walking along side his friend, cupping his hands around his mouth, "wooyoung! take your helmet off."

yeosang followed behind wooyoung before a crash was heard.

seonghwa sighed, rubbing his temples, "this was not worth it."

yeosang let out a dramatic cry, as wooyoung rubbed the helmet where he ran into the door, "wooyoung! speak to me!"

wooyoung sighed, shaking his head almost cartoonishly, "i'm okay. it's a good thing i'm still wearing my helmet." he wiped a faux bead of sweat from the helmet, shooting finger guns to yeosang.

seonghwa ran his hand over his face, groaning, "this really, really was not worth it." his lazily held his helmet in his other hand, holding it by the bottom piece.

"come on, hwa, cheer up." wooyoung chuckled, buzzing the intercom, "you're such a debby-downer."

seonghwa took a third sigh, "what even is that?"

the intercom echoed, "hello?" a voice full of static hesitated.

"y/n! it's us!" wooyoung spoke cheerfully.

yeosang chuckled, "buzz us in!"

"oh! alright." y/n held the button, a loud buzz emitting from the intercom, and the four entered the building.

compared to the apartment lobby, the four stuck out like a sore thumb, dressed down in all black, two with their helmets still on their head, and the other two holding their helmets under their arm. the jackets rubbing against itself, echoing in the lobby.

wooyoung called the elevator, tapping his foot, "we're already late! i hope they haven't started anything fun."

seonghwa looked at the counter, watching the elevator decrease each floor, blinking slowly just as the elevator opened.

the four stepped inside, and seonghwa immediately occupied the corner of the elevator, his back against the wall.

"nice building," hongjoong complimented, his eyes scanning the elevator, "nice interior."

seonghwa didn't notice that the floor was approaching until he heard a ding and the doors sliding open. wooyoung immediately wandered out staring at his phone as he walked down the hallway, looking up every second to look at the door numbers.

“31, 32... where the hell is 37?” wooyoung cursed.

hongjoong cleared his throat, wandering over to a door, the number decorating the door with Pokémon stickers and some rat seonghwa didn’t recognize.

yeosang cheered, ringing the bell, “y/n! we’re here.” he began to annoyingly knock on the door.

the girl opened the door, a smile crossing her lips, “hi, guys! come in, everyone is watching mingi play parappa.” she chuckled, before quickly turning around to continue watching him play.

“damn it!” mingi cursed, jamming the buttons as the icon passed through, “i swear this stupid flea market stage is annoying.”

the others laughed, before a taller one chuckled, “mingi, you suck. you’re missing all the buttons.”

mingi turned to look at him, a look of both shock and annoyance covering his face, “well, i’m sorry, i’m not a professional gamer like you, yunho. why don’t you take over?”

the one called yunho grabbed the mobile device, starting the stage again, “not a problem. i’ll kill your record.”

hongjoong sat on the seat at the island of the kitchen, seonghwa gently placing his helmet beside him and watched.

wooyoung and yeosang immediately sat on the couch, watching the game.

y/n wandered into the kitchen, “seonghwa, would you like something to drink?”

seonghwa moved into the corner, “no, i’m fine.”

y/n motioned to hongjoong with a bottle of strawberry soda, who only shook his head sweetly.

seonghwa sighed, tapping his foot impatiently. it’s only been 1 minute since he’s been in the apartment, and he was already counting down the seconds before he could leave.

wooyoung cleared his throat, “well, it’s rude to come empty handed, so, this is for our host, y/n.” he opened his backpack and pulled out two full bottles of soju, yogurt soju, to be specific. wooyoung just so happened to stop at the convenience store seonghwa last saw y/n, and took a grueling 10 minutes to decide on what to bring as a gift; a loaf of bread, or the yogurt soju.

y/n accepted the drink, “wow, thank you, guys!” she smiled, “but, in all honesty, i don’t drink very much. only on special occasions.”

yeosang leaned over the top of the couch, smiling, “well, this is a special occasion!” he chuckled, “the commencing of friends!”

y/n smiled, “well, i guess that is a special occasion.” she opened the bottle, “who’d like some?”

the other’s stood up with haste, before y/n tried to slow them, pulling out only three shot glasses, decorated with those pokemon she “loved” so much.

seonghwa couldn’t help the smile that decorated his face as the liquor coursed through his veins, his eyes glassy before he wandered off to where he assumed a guest room was and collapsed on the bed.

he’d worry about it later.

PARK SEONGHWA is a stone-cold, cantankerous punk-rock player. He hates everything about the world, and if he had just one chance, he'd do anything to keep the best thing about the world in his arms; you, the complete opposite of everything he's ever built up to hate.

a.n/ this has been in the works ever since the iconic scene of hwa spinning his gun in kingdom. also inspired by the pirates of the caribbean, the kraken scene especially. i’m here to fill my september quota and continuing this hidden world.

When Seonghwa steps onto the deck of The Sunrise he didn’t expect this. He’s used to the open air and heights of the mountains, the singing trees and birds. The rocking ship, the creaking wood and the crashing of water are not something he grew up listening to. Closing his eyes to get some rest only resulted in him kicking awake, it feels too much like tipping over into the abyss.

At the very least, the warm body next to him didn’t leave him to fend for himself. Hongjoong sleeps soundly near the wall of the ship, Seonghwa had asked if he could take the farthest edge. The less sound of water crashing against the oak the better. He turns to his side, averting his eyes away from the windows behind Hongjoong’s desk. It’s too unsettling to watch the stormy night sky from a floating confined space. His nerves are frazzled and he can feel pricks of chills along his spine despite the quarter being warm. Something is out there. In the water. How can Hongjoong not feel this?

He turns his attention to his companion. Fair golden locks messy from unconscious tossing and turning, the stern lines on Hongjoong’s face are nonexistent, so vulnerable compared to when he’s awake. Seonghwa can see the youthfulness of his age when he’s asleep. Hongjoong shifts in his sleep and Seonghwa holds his breath, his friend has thrown an arm over his waist. “Is there something on my face, Seonghwa?” The unexpected clapping of thunder gains a flinch out of him. He finally sees Hongjoong’s eyes again.

“There’s something in the water.” He sighs and closes his eyes when he feels a thumb rubbing soothing circles on his side. “How can you be so calm in this open water?”

Hongjoong has a neutral expression as he watches his companion, “How about you and the sky, Seonghwa?” He brushes his knuckle over the furrowed well-groomed brows. “How can you run and jump off a cliff without a second thought? Falling from the sky at terminal velocity? Manoeuvring between lightning bolts as if you are dancing?” Hongjoong traces his shoulder blades. “You trust the wings you have, you know how to use them and the in and out of it, every feather and sinew.” He rests his forehead against Seonghwa. “The sky is your home just as much as the sea is mine.”

Seonghwa takes in the comfort given by the seasoned sailor, it’s rare for Hongjoong to show much affection, he admirably has gotten better over the couple of centuries they spend together. He flinches once more when Hongjoong pushes him away, sitting up so fast he’s afraid his companion might accidentally inflict himself a case of whiplash. Before he could call his companion’s name, there’s a furious knocking on the door.

“CAPTAIN! KRAKEN!”

The deck trembles with silent battle tension. Crews moving to and fro with purpose, armed with cutlasses, muskets and flintlocks. Seonghwa could see invisible lines of magic running between the woods of the ship, Hongjoong is making sure they stay afloat as tentacles covered the starboard and port, rising over the sides of the ship. The ship is still as they wait for Hongjoong’s command.

“FIRE!”

The shrieking roars of pain from the creature in the water below also deafened his ears. The screams of the crew ignite something in him. Seonghwa’s hands grow cold, honey complexion paling and his veins pressed below his skin, showing tendrils of deep blue above. The air pockets freeze into a sword as the ship rocks from the chain of cannon explosions. He leaps over a loose barrel and takes a swipe at the tentacle trying to curl around a gunner.

The day he could freeze the ocean is the day hell would freeze over. The water splashing into the deck is ankle-deep already. His sea legs are terrible enough as is, he quickly jumps onto a higher platform.

“Quartermaster!”

He catches a loaded musket thrown his way. Quartermaster? Since when? He is only aboard at The Sunrise for eight days.

“Anytime now! Before the gunpowder gets any wetter!”

Seonghwa clicks his tongue if he is a sharpshooter specialist he would have fired without hesitation but he’s an elementalist for goodness sake. But even an elementalist is nothing compared to the rage of Mother Nature. He yelps when the ship rocks violently, the water rising rapidly, and he almost tumble down to the main deck of its, not for the arm around his waist.

“Hurry, Seonghwa! Else you want our journey to end here!”

Hongjoong’s voice rings in his ear. When did he get here so fast? However that is unimportant, his nerve didn’t ease even with Hongjoong nearby yet he feels something within him breaks and steels.

‘Seonghwa, we harness our power through our surroundings. We do not need human weapons, we wield nature.’

‘I’m sorry, Mother, nature is not listening and I would like to live for a long time!’

With the butt of the musket lodge to his shoulder and chin tuck to his chest, he lifts the gun aiming at the barrels of gunpowder now hovering in front of the kraken’s mouth, its legs curling around the masts and ready to devour The Sunrise in a single swallow.

“Get off my ship!”

The roaring screech and the bursting explosion ring in his ears, burning it into his memories.

[Present Time]

“Where did you learn how to shoot like that?!”

Seonghwa smiles exasperatedly, almost as if he’s in pain, at the others who are mimicking how he spun his rifle before shooting at the warhorse. He’ll admit it, he tends to get a bit melodramatic when in a pinch. Hongjoong is smirking from his perch on the fallen creature of dark magic. Black smoke rises as it returns to the underworld.

The ground is solid under him instead of the rolling rough waves and the wind is gentler but the rifle is still the same as the ones he used on The Sunrise. The smooth medium brown wood is weathered from the centuries but still works like it's brand new. Hongjoong takes good care of it for him and upgraded it with gold embellishments.

‘Like old time?’ The Cheshire like grin of his old companion had him smiling when he took the musket from the guild’s armoury. ‘Better safe than sorry, I have a feeling we would need it.’

“I learned from the best sailor.”

➣ When she got into an argument with an atiny about who was prettier at a fanmeet

➣ Atiny: "You are so pretty!"

➣ Amanda: "No way, you are way prettier than me"

➣ Atiny: "No you are"

➣ Amanda: "You are so much more prettier than me. You are drop dead gorgeous. I'm so jealous"

➣ This continued for awhile before San had to intervene

➣ When an interviewer asked which member she’d date? She replied "Oh that’s easy. Me!😊 I would be a great significant other😌"

➣ She was just super scared to show anyone her work and tried really hard to make it perfect. He said he admired her passion and hardwork

➣ When she forget how to speak English

➣ Amanda to Hongjoong in Korean: "How do you say beautiful?"

➣ When an atiny started crying during fanmeet because Amanda was a huge inspiration to them and was their role model, Amanda started tearing up too and used the sides of her jacket to cover them so they wouldn't feel embarrassed

➣ Prince Charming who? I only know Prince Manny

➣ In a game where they showed picture of a dance of kpop groups and had to guess the song, she knew all of them. But when it came down to ATEEZ's song she was like🤷🏽‍♀️

➣ The member now make fun of her for it by saying she’s the member who most likely to forgets the dance routine

➣ Having a challenge to increase her heart rate. The boy started flirting with her and she just looked disgusted the whole time

➣ Her heart rate only went higher when Seonghwa fell 💀

• “Sometimes you make my gun look useless. My own little weapon. Patent pending.” he kisses you on the lips while he tightens his belt. “Duty calls, baby. I’ll be back for you tomorrow morning since your parents basically gave me the thumbs up.”

• you giggle at that holding back at his turned waist. “Where are you going now?”

• “To fight the bad guys. Where else would I go if I’m not already here with you?”

• Seonghwa’s not at all what people think he is.

• at least to you.

• you think he’s the greatest guy.

• if not, the nicest.

• he does the things the little guy chooses not to because it’s morally wrong?

• of course you weren’t all for his lifestyle.

• it being killing innocent people and then some.

• but he does it out of honor?

• to protect the people he loves.

• “I love you.” you tell him before he leaves making him kiss you again.

• never seeming to miss him when he lingers around you so often.

• the morning comes and he’s missing.

• she looks at you and rolls her eyes. “Why on earth would I hear from him? And I’ve told you multiple times you aren’t allowed to see him.”

• you chuckle and shake your head. not forgetting to kiss her on the cheek before you go.

• “I know you don’t like him. And I know you think he’s not the better options I’m given but he’s an option that loves me. One that I love back, ma. So I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear you say that, okay?”

• “Fine but I’m not saying I like the idea anyway.”

• your mom hates him.

• but she can’t hate the fact that he does absolutely everything in his power to prove his love for you.

• his friends think otherwise.

• doing everything in their power to keep him from YOU.

• “Where is he?” you ask yourself as you look around the crowded area. “He’s supposed to be here by now...”

• you frown knowing he wasn’t going to show up.

• that there was something wrong and you don’t doubt it’s because of his friends.

• and Seonghwa has always been the one to reach out for you.

• which is probably why even if your family hates him, they respect him.

• you think it’s why his friends don’t respect you.

• but who are you to put yourself in the circle of death?

• “Y-y/n? Why—“ Seonghwa’s almost in tears petrified by the way trauma coats your eyes and how the blood of your first victim drips down your hands. “W-why’d you kill him, baby?”

• you know it was probably wrong.

• probably the more strenuous effort to take in winning his love.

• but you’re tired of being just his woman.

• wanting to be his partner more than anything in the world.

• even if the chances were slim you were willing to take it.

• you look to his friends shaking vigorously.

• hands trembling when you ask in venoumous drip, “Was that enough? Was that enough to get you all to like me? To accept me. To stop keeping my god damn boyfriend away from me?”

• Seonghwa knows you’re everything.

• everything but the inferior.

• loved that you always needed to be accurate.

• his weapon patent pending.

• “I may not be one of you.” you tell them softly having them backed up into a corner as you threaten, not being the quiet girl they think you were. “But I sure as hell can be. And if killing a man who put me in chains because of your friend that I love? If doing that will prove it to you, then by all means throw me another. I’ll kill him too.”

• they never liked you.

• but they can’t lie and say they never admired you.

• admired you for falling in love with a man who stained his hands with blood and his life with tattooed pasts.

• admired you for loving him even if that has to drag you.

• you cry when it’s just you and Seonghwa.

• now he holds you in his arms in your bedroom,

• in the comfort of your bed,

• being able to be with you this time, all parties approved.

• he traces the scars on your skin just like the way you trace the ink on his.

• how he’s willing to do just about anything you’d do for him.

• “I’m sorry.” he whispers as you keep yourself trapped against him. “I’m sorry for loving you.”

• you don’t tell him to take it back.

• let him kiss the burning wounds that he mended.

• the pain fading like the trauma in your mind.

• when it’s just him and you,

• you forget about the them and they.

• “I’m sorry for loving you too.”

• his hair brushes against your forehead as he leans down to kiss you.

• his tears falling onto your lips like it’s a promise he’s making to you. “I told them they couldn’t keep me from you no matter what they do. That if the world didn’t want us together, we wouldn’t have met. The person I am... y/n, that’s just going to follow us. Baby, I don’t know if I’m okay with that.”

• “I am.”

• your arms lace around his shaky body as he kisses you tenderly.

• you kissing back.

• “I’m okay with everything you do, who you are and what that makes me.” you whisper as he bends against your hand pressing on his rising chest. “The gun you always hold is mine. Your heart that’s right here? That’s mine too. Patented by yours truly.”

• he chuckles.

• shakes his head to himself because he’s so damn in love with you—

• so damn lucky to have you.

• thinks Ronald McDonald may as well be the richest man alive but he’s still got a treasure far more valuable than the iconic BIG MAC.

• “I know for the life I have, I can’t marry you.”

• you peer up at up him when he scrambles through his pockets for something.

• the way his gun falls onto your bed like it meant nothing to him, almost mockingly sardonic.

• “But I can pretend for a little that I don’t have the life I have. Just so I can do this.”

• he turns the tables.

• whn the lights flicker in your room and how your mom stands at the door way with a camcorder,

• his friends smiling at you with a cake and flowering confetti—

• the way Seonghwa gets down on one knee his gun comically sitting between the both of you.

• just so he can ask,

• “Y/n, will you be my wife?”

• Park Seonghwa has this complex that you never had.

• doing the things people don’t want him to do.

• it’s funny how he got those people to want it.

• the way you always did.

• it’s his complex.

• so it’s not wrong that you answered,

• “Well yeah, obviously.”

ATEEZ - From The Wonderland pt.3

the third and final part of this story! i you haven't please read the previous two parts of this to understand everything :)

Wooyoung tried to catch his breath. He could still feel some hands on him. He was too tired, too worn out to fight those remaining around him. At least they stopped for now so that he could try to asses the situation around him. He lifted his head to see Hongjoong running towards him from behind a huge rock, his iconic fur coat floating behind him. With only a few but well placed punches and kicks Hongjoong had pushed the last skeletons that still had a hold on Wooyoung back.

"Good to see you still alive, man", the captain said as he helped his friend stand up, an arm around his upper body to support him.

"I am also very glad to still be alive."

Hongjoong couldn't help but smile. They weren't safe yet but he felt a lot better by just seeing Wooyoung alive and relatively unharmed.

"Thank you, Hongjoong", Wooyoung said sincerely, putting all his gratitude in those three words.

"Don't mention it."

The captain looked around the dome again. Seonghwa and Yeosang were still fighting and Hongjoong could see skeletons approaching him and Wooyoung again as well. And above all this were still the watchful eyes of the Kraken which was twitching with its tentacles as if it was undecided whether it should intervene in the fights or stay still and watch it play out.

Hongjoong didn't have as much time as the monster to decide what he should do. He needed to asses the situation fast, recollect his members and form a strategy to get them all out of here before everything escalated even more. Right now helping Wooyoung get to a place of safety was his top priority.

"Let's get moving, Woo", he tried motivating his friend to walk faster.

He could tell that Wooyoung was trying his best to not be a burden on Hongjoong but the skeletons have not been kind to him. He looked over his shoulders in a rush, trying to figure out how close the skeletons were to them right now. Maybe he would need to put Wooyoung down to push their enemies back again and continue moving after that. Before he could make up his mind however he could hear faint yelling from one of the many tunnels that lead into the dome. It came closer and closer. Wooyung couldn't help but laugh at the sound, while Hongjoong sighed. "They really can't be quiet even when trying to surprise their enemies."

As if to prove his point San broke out from a tunnel close to them, looking around, seeing his friends and letting out an excited yell before engaging in his first fight. Shortly after Yunho and Jongho followed. The older of the two had already drawn his sword and was more than ready to fight. Neither of the three really took time to acknowledge the Kraken at the back end. But maybe that was for the better. Right now it seemed like the skeletons were a more immediate problem.

From what he could see Yeosang felt like they really took down a large number of skeletons, leaving the dome rather empty. Only a few were remaining, scattered throughout their hideout and unsure of this situation. Yeosang and Seonghwa moved towards their friends, making sure that all of them okay, or at least as okay as can be expected under the given circumstances.

"We need to get out of here", Hongjoong ordered as soon as they all came together again.

"But the treasure-", Wooyoung argued.

Six pairs of eyes landed on him, looking him up and down skeptically almost as if they could not believe that he out of all people present would suggest staying longer on this island.

"Well, I'm just saying we didn't come all the way out here and fight a bunch of dead-but-not-dead skeletons to leave empty-handed right?"

"I agree", San voiced his thoughts as he kicked one of said skeletons back that had tried to approach them.

Jongho shook his head. "Of course you two would agree with each other. Have you taken a look at that Kraken? It only needs to slam down one of its tentacles on us and we would be dead."

"It definitely is too huge for us to kill it", Hongjoong considered their options, "And we don't know anything about it."

Yunho took a quick look at the red sea-creature towering over the waters surface only a few meters away from them. It was still unmoving, waiting. He shivered and turned his eyes away. "I feel like that thing is watching us."

"We know something", Seonghwa spoke up now. He took his rifle and spun it around in his hand. A neat little trick that always gained attention from the younger members of their crew even though they had seen it countless times before. Somehow they were unable to do it themselves and thus never ceased to be amazed by their older friends skill. "Remember that one rumor about it's weak spot? Right in the middle of this things eyes." He pointed between his own two eyes to accentuate his argument.

"It's just a rumor", Yeosang reasoned.

"So were the rest of the things we had heard before and now look at us."

Everyone turned to Hongjoong. The final decisions were always up to him. He was their leader, the one they trusted the most. If he would tell them to try it, they would do it without hesitation. Their captain seemed to be deep in thought, pricking small strands of fur from his coat and rolling it between his fingers.

"Do you think you can make that shot, Seonghwa?", he finally asked.

Seonghwa smiled. "You know that I can."

"Then do it."

Seonghwa didn't need to be told twice. Immediately he got into position, taking his aim. At this the Kraken let out another of his terrifying screeches. Although they were kind of used to it by now the pirates couldn't suppress the goosebumps on their bodies. But they could not stay standing around and wait. The noise the Kraken had made called the remaining skeletons to action once more. They were now charging at the group.

"Make sure Seonghwa can make this shot undisturbed!", Hongjoong ordered, before the first enemy reached them.

He would not have needed to tell them that because they were more than ready to keep their sharp-shooter safe for the final blow on the monster that would grant them access to riches they had never seen before which was the sole purpose of this trip. They had experienced so much in the last hours. There was no way they would be giving up now. Not as long as they were together.

Seonghwa took a deep breath and steadied his aim. The Kraken tried to move around but it's movement was way too restricted by the walls of stone. It's only route of escape was to go back in the water. But Seonghwa was ready. The monster tried to retreat down into the sea as Seonghwa pulled the trigger. The bullet crossed the remaining space in no time and landed right between the Krakens eyes, piercing through it's flesh and leaving a hole.

The Kraken emitted it's final scream. A scream of so much pain and horror that it made the stone vibrate and the fire of the torches flicker heavily.

"It's done."

"That can not be true", the older pirate said accusingly. He had taken the empty shot glass into his hand and was waving it around. Another hiccup escaped his throat. "We would have heard by now."

The woman behind the bar shrugged. "Not if you only talk to the same two people every time you come here."

The man stood up straight, however still grabbing onto the bar. He pointed at the woman with one of his slightly crooked fingers. "Don't talk to me like that. And don't think you can just sell us this stupid fairy-tale!"

Before he was able to slam down the glass on wood of the counter someone grabbed his wrist, stopping his movement mid air.

"Is he bothering you, miss?", a rather amused sounding voice asked.

"Just another rude customer, nothing I couldn't handle", she answered, a smile tugging at her lips at the sight of seven familiar faces in front of her. "Maybe you should let him go, Hongjoong, and instead tell him about your last adventure."

The younger of the two drinking pirates, who had been quietly thinking this whole time, finally took a look at the new arrivals. His mouth dropped open slightly as he recognized the men that were now taking a seat on the counter around them. "Aren't- aren't- aren't you guys ATEEZ?" This time it wasn't the alcohol that made his voice crack.

"Oh, so you have heard of us?", the man called Hongjoong laughed. "Yes, we are ATEEZ. Do you want to hear our story?"

and with that we are finished! considering all 3 parts i wrote 7.5k words about a 4 minute performance so i don't know what that says about me...

A hacker boy's nightmare

Tw: nightmares, blood, death

Late night patrol; nothing out of the ordinary and nothing Yeosang wasn't used to doing every other night. Watching the street cameras from inside his car, someone falling onto the hood of his car and sliding down onto the road alerted him. Putting the laptop to the side, he stepped out, gun in hand.

"Sangie...help me..." Dropping the gun in shock, Yeosang collapsed to his knees, holding his boyfriend in his lap.

"Hyunjin! What, what happened?!" His hands feeling a sticky but fluid substance and a gaping wound, Yeosang cried out in horror, scrambling to remove his jacket and tear the sleeve to create a tourniquet.

"You're not dying on me! Not like this-!" Tightening the tourniquet with a shaky hand, he stopped when Hyunjin grabbed his arm.

"Am I.. Am I going to die?" The Prince's voice weak, he winced as the pain seared through him. Shaking his head, Yeosang grabbed Hyunjin's hand, rubbing it between his own.

"No, no, you're going to be fine! We're going to get you to Seonghwa, okay?"

"Hyung... It hurts... I don't want to leave." Hyunjin never called him Hyung, not unless it was serious. "I love you..."

"Don't you say that, you'll be fine, okay? Hyung - hyung is right here, hmm?" Yeosang replied, ignoring the tears forming in his eyes. Chuckling with a cough, Hyunjin smiled and kissed Yeosang one last time, before his arm fell limp and he collapsed in his boyfriend's arms.

"Hyunjin..? HYUNJIN! No, no, no, you can't be dead!" Yeosang cried, pulling Hyunjin closer and running his hands through his hair. A figure approached, chuckling darkly. It was familiar; Hyerin?

"Another win for SM's Golden Girl~ Sorry about your boyfriend~ but a job's a job. I'm sure you know, Ateez's dear hacker boy." Golden girl? She hated that name. Had Hyerin not left SM? Looking to what was supposed to be his Hyerin Noona, Yeosang's mouth hung open.

"I thought you hate SM..."

"Oh I do! But don't tell them that~ or they'll kill me." She laughed, crouching down to ruffle Yeosang's hair before standing up and walking into the darkness.

"See you around, Hacker Boy~"

Waking up with a start and shallow breaths, Yeosang frantically looked around him, sighing in relief when he saw Hyunjin above him, holding his face in his hands, visibly shaken and concerned.

"Baby-! Are, are you okay?"

"... Huh? Oh, yeah - yeah, I'm fine.."

Musical Reaction to Fireworks by Ateez

I love the opening instrumentation - it's so mysterious and floaty. Not sure how to feel about the autotune on Seonghwa and Yeosang's voices but I love their delivery. It's like they're kind of shouting the lines but it's still melodic. Also love how Seonghwa says 'zone'

San's lines ooohhh boi they said CONTRAST. His soft, gentle vocals contradict all of the last section and the synth drums + bass that come in. Love Jongho getting some softer part too.

LADS MINGI'S RAP IS FIRE what the FUCK. they TOTALLY change the backing instrumentation for it, too, and the build is great.

Ateez? Dropping out backing instruments to emphasise a drop? More likely thank you think. Seonghwa's pre-chorus line over JUST the drums is SO SATISFYING. One thing I love about Ateez is how their drops AREN'T as distinct from the rest of the song. Like the first drop after Mingi's rap is kind of soft, esp. cos the bass isn't emphasised.

The gun cocking sounds in the background exCUSE ME.

THE SECOND DROP THOUGH ugh this is why i LOVE Ateez - you think "oh this is the drop? wait NOT THIS IS IT" and then it goes twice as hard. Hongjoong's quick line followed San and the DRUM FILL IS SO GOOD.

We love Wooyoung and Yunho getting lines. Also i like this synth sounds that come back from Mingi's rap.

YO THE SECOND VERSE FUCKING SLAPS. Like the instrumentation thins out with barely a transition from the chorus and it starts of the SAME as the first verse except with FANCY BACKING VOCALS. MORE YUNHO LINES plus SAN'S LOWER RANGE HNNNNGG

And then we go into a TOTALLY NEW VERSE PART. Wooyoung's light vocals are SUCH a good contrast to San and Jongho's voices. YEOSANG oh my GOD his lines were SUCH A SERVE - he really said: Baritone Rights.

Hongjoong's laugh before his rap * iconic *. I like the ho the instrumentation behind his rap is the same as Mingi's but his flow/rhythm and tempo are COMPLETELY different.

The gun cocking sounds are fucking RUDE. Still love the drums leading into the second part of the chorus. Also i LOVE two-part choruses.

THIS BRIDGE as;lga;slkdga;lskg JONGHO go OFF vocal KING. Whoever wrote this melody? You're a genius. ANd his phrasing is SO interesting. Love how they use Seonghwa for the low part and then San comes with a higher bel/mixt.

a;sldkga;sldkf RAP DUO OVER JONGHO GOING OFF IN THE BACKGROUND the absolute POWER.

It's a bit strange for them to have a THIRD chorus that is so similar to their previous choruses but it's a REALLY good chorus so I'm not going to complain. Also in the second part of the chorus, there's that crazy shout that leads into it and they layer the vocals more. Yay they cut out the instruments for Yeosang's final line!!

Would have liked to see them build the chorus into sth more complex and it's strange that they don't have a really extra outro (like Thanxx or Pirate King) but I think that's because they realised they wrote a FUCKING FANTASTIC CHORUS. Edenary and Hongjoong were probs like "it can't get any better than this" and I respect that

Ateez dealing with a wardrobe malfunction on stage

Hongjoong

- would notice it immediately, when his hat is about to fly off

- plays it cool by continuing the performance

- the second he gets to fix it, he wastes no time

- you would probably not notice it, unless you watch his fancams excessively (which to be honest, everyone does)

Seonghwa

- like Hongjoong he notices it really fast

- his necklace is tangled and loose and it hurts him when the accessory slaps him into his face

- is annoyed by it (judges the stylist for the choice), but covers it up by acting extra sexy and throwing the necklace off into the crowd

- everyone would notice later why he did it, but it became an iconic move

Yunho

- so he wouldn’t normally notice it that quick, but it become quite apparent when half of his butt was out, when his pants ripped (I mean it’s really obvious why it happened lol)

- gets embarrassed and his ears turned red quickly

- would leave the stage in an instant, when his part is over and the stylist quickly covers it up with one of Mingis long coats

- laughs it off afterwards

- would go viral because of it, cause everyone enjoyed the show even more that day

Yeosang

- would notice it after half the song is over that part of his ripped shirt got a huge hole in his tummy area

- wants to crawl into a hole (oh what irony) but calms himself down and continues the show

- no one complains, except for Yeosang

- after the show he curls up into a blanket and tries to forget that it happened

San

- he notices really late that one of his tank top straps ripped and shows off half of his shoulders and guns arms

- he shrugs it off, because he needs to continue the performance and summon his inner demon

- actually adds a lot of effect to his addictive performance

- everyone is living for it

Mingi

- he also notices it immediately because of the spot

- his pants ripped during the Answer chorus and his thighs are open for the whole world to admire see

- struggles internally: doesn’t mind it as much, but is also embarrassed that it happened to him

- covers it up by smiling even more and giving a little smirk

- everyone saw Mingis abs before, so what’s the big deal anyway

Wooyoung

- would also notice it quite late, although the shirt is in pieces and shows off his collarbones and chest area

- pretends to be a little uncomfortable like ,,oh, I’m so embarrassed guys“

- but loves it secretly, cause he always wants to show off his body (tb to Yeosang exposing him on weekly idol)

- reads the comments about it and enjoys the attention

Jongho

- even before his jacket flew off, he felt like something was about to go wrong

- screams internally, because he hates it when unexpected things happen

- continues the performance perfectly like the king he is

- nobody can tell for sure, that this wasn’t supposed to happen, but he is still a little embarrassed

Kingdom: Legendary war - 100 second performances

TBH I dont wanna write full essays on these little intro performances even though I have a lot of thoughts, so they're all gonna be on this one post.

ATEEZ: I loved the introduction!! Dude the acting?? Seonghwa's full staggering?? Dope as fuck. The strings instrumental as well as the rough waves sound were a great introduction to the theme. A good performance overall, I think it genuinely highlighted and set up the kind of group ATEEZ is. I struggled a bit with the song choice because Wave (original) is so upbeat and free spirited while the kingdom version felt very aggressive. But I figured maybe they chose it because it's (1) their first music show win (important mentally and emotionally) and (2) it fits the pirate theme they're going to carry on in the show. Speaking of theme, I really liked that ATEEZ stuck to their guns and kept to the pirate theme. It's clearly a sort of icon for them, in Pirate King and Wave, and also in Wonderland (large pirate ship at the end) and THANXX (ships and sharks in the air, skull on the float). I do worry this will somehow limit their performances from now on but a continuous theme can be very powerful as well.

BTOB: Y'all I did not know anything about BTOB tbh. I've heard their songs here and there but I didn't know them at all and listening to this version of Beautiful Pain, I am stunned. Like I've always respected kpop idols as the ones who can do it all, especially in comparison to American celebrities who tend to be very one tracked in many ways, but BTOB really brings up a new level of skill in their singing. Eunkwang in particular really impressed me! He has really strong, stable vocals and is able to achieve those impactful long notes that I know for a fact is difficult to anyone who doesn't train with singing in mind in particular. He kind of reminds me of Hui from Pentagon and RTK? Technically it should be that Hui reminds me of him but like I got to know Hui first so yknow. I think the drawback for BTOB will be how they incorporate themes and action in their performances, as ballad songs tend to be very mellow in comparison to the kind of aggressive EDM/hip hop the other groups are known for.

SF9: I stan now. Just like, fact. I already really liked Summer Breeze and Good Guy from SF9 but I feel like their time on Kingdom has really suckered me into learning about them. But just from this introduction performance, I think it's really interesting what kind of strengths they were playing into. I know SF9 is pretty well known for their physique and appearances, as well as their individual acting ability. Like the mentioned during the episode, they do a lot of individual activities which I think would make a show like Kingdom really difficult for them because they don't have a lot of time to practice together as the other groups do. Still, I believe they can put on excellent performances if they play to their strengths and manage to show good team synergy. The intro performance is interesting because it was really intense, which was sort of off-set in some ways by their costuming and set design. I actually would have loved if they had taken more of a boss stance, like they're CEOs of the company or something with the matching lighting and LED screen displays. I feel like that would have really enhanced their suits and gelled hair. Still though!! Great job!! And please, huge shoutout to Taeyang who struggled with the body pack, I'm really impressed by his laser focus during the performance. I know it must be disappointing but he did well.

Stray Kids: My boys!! My babies!! I love how they carried the theme from the performance film that Minho stared in. Wolves is a wonderful concept for Kingdom for a variety of reasons. Wolves are a common standard in medieval representations (GOT as an example) so that's really symbolic of them participating in Kingdom. Additionally, I really like how it gives that kind of wild energy to SKZ, similar to how in Back Door they gave off really party-esque vibes. I also think of the aggression of wolves in defending their territory which is a cool intimidation tactic kinda? It's likely unintentional but it's still very cool. Choosing MIROH was kind of obvious, given it's importance as their very first win (like ATEEZ) and also the theme of the song being about freedom and being the king of the concrete jungle. The arrangement was so cool, seriously seriously Chan how do you do it?? Chan and Hui become friends please. I liked how they, like TBZ, used more of the stage than some of the other groups. Like Minho on the bleacher seats. Props wise, Changbin's firework was awesome although I don't necessarily know what kind of role it plays in the theme of the performance? But yeah, it was incredible and they totally deserved first place for that.

TBZ: Yooooo what was that start?? That posing?? Y'all please, my heart isn't strong enough for this. Eric's mf core strength to be able to sit up from that position-- hhhhh. I'm genuinely curious as to what theme they were thinking about when they made this because there's such a unique genre to the performance. It's daring, challenging, elegant and impactful. The whispering opening lines from Eric 100% made goosebumps creep up my arm. I also think it's interesting that they had a sort of rising from the ashes moment when all the members collapse and then come back up. This performance was an incredible showing of the full scope of TBZ's skills, as a group with incredible formations and dancing ability. I mean the hands in the camera? Really shows how their time on RTK has helped familiarize them to the stage available on Kingdom. That ballet bit with the classical piano?? (COOL LEDS AND TRANSITIONS TOO YO) Bro, how many other groups could do that so smoothly. It reminds me of the differences they had in RTK, like how Quasi una fantasia was a very modern dance-esque piece. I'm really hoping they continue to show their variety and creativity on Kingdom as they did in RTK and in this performance. Side note: GOT themed?? I'm gonna have to monitor that carefully because I'm not a GOT nut but my roommate is and I feel like if that's the theme then there should be some level of commitment to the concept, on a theatrical execution sense.

iKON: I've mentioned this before but this is possibly my favorite performance out of all of these for this intro round. I didn't really appreciate it at first but I keep going back to it because the arrangement is so interesting! The combination of their hip-hop original beat and the the aggression of the instrumentals (like the drumming beat and the flute) is so fun to listen to. I also like that they start off really strong and then really show off how fun they can be, like how Donghyuck (DK) and Jinhwan (Jay)'s duoing was really powerful and then post transition (which was also really clean!), Bobby had the time of his life just popping off the way he does. Bobby seems so carefree and that's amazing, I think that's so fun. I really like that iKON used their arms at the beginning too. Based on the other performance clips I've seen for rounds 1 and 2, that kind of movement seems to be their thing and that's awesome!! I gotta mention, Jinhwan is an incredible dancer. Even though iKON doesn't seem to have the same synchronization that TBZ, SKZ and ATEEZ have, it kind of really works in their favor because of the hip hop vibes they devote themselves too. Hip hop is all about individual expression so it's really fun to see their little quirks! That said, I do hope they're able to polish up a little bit so that it doesn't seem too out of sync, like when Donghyuck was a beat off in bit where they raise their arms together.

All in all, the intro performances really did stick to the charms each team has! That's really incredible and I really like that. Onto round 1!
