Casper lore I guess???

Casper was (clearly) one of the sanitized test subjects during octo expansion. No memory of his life before Kamabo.co and very little of during his time there due to the mind control. Though flashes of the tests give him issues occasionally. Due to the sanitization process, Casper has next to no heartbeat and slow breathing. Hes lost all rhythm all inklings and octolings seem to have. He takes things more literally and is far more task oriented. After the showdown with pearl and tartar the metro was abandoned as a ruin. Crumbling with time and the impact of pearls voice. Causing the metro to flood with seawater. Though the metro is next to the inkopolis salmonid swim zone. Salmonids and their eggs also flooded the metro. A single egg finding its way to Casper, whom has broken free of the mind control goggles ages ago, and was wandering the metro completely lost with no memory of anything. Casper managed to swim out of the metro. Clinging to the egg as it was his only sense of life. As his own heartbeat and warmth was non-existent. Not that the egg mind, as salmon are cold water fish. He was rather overwhelmed by inkopolis. Things he didint remember existing and quickly singled out by his inability to blend in with the bright new colors and inklings. Casper now resides in the splatlands. After hatching his Salmonid 'King' remained his constant companion. And after learning about grizz.co and the salmon runs, he made it his goal to find a new renewable source of power that ISINT salmonid spawn, and preferably getting rid of zapfish aswell. His ability to feel moat emotions have been cut out by sanitization, he's dull and blunt literal. His brain is very good with tactical and combat skills, but cannot participate in turf wars due to his inability to change color. And since he has no rhythm for music or dance or art, he busy's himself in his work and research. The name 'Casper' he stole from someone else on a newspaper. Though most that meet or know him refer to him as Cass for short. His tentacles have grown in length since the metro (except for the one chopped during combatical testing) and his colors have adjusted slightly to the new environment of the splatlands. Though he remains to the outskirts of splatsville as he isint very good at reading cues and interaction. Pretty akward when it comes to other people but an expert when it comes to battle tactics and machinery. Has a side gig illegally modifying turf war weapons. As he needs the money and has the skills nessisary for the job.

I had to go through the MHA wiki a bunch of times while writing my fanfic and thought I'd share 10 things I saw:

Hikage is the only OFA user to be listed among the civilians (which makes me wonder about Yoichi)

2. The Second User's hair color is listed as salmon. Salmon is a shade of pink. The Second User had pink hair. He's a pinkette. (Edit: It can also be a shade of orange, but I like the idea of him with pink hair better. I think his hair used to be pink because he was a main character, but then he died so now it's orange.)

3. The Second and Third users are not listed as vigilantes. They were part of a resistance movement against AFO. (From now on, I will call them resisters. There's probably a reason for that, but whatever.)

4. Third's bandana is black. Not blood red like I assumed.

5. Nana also had to eat hair to get OFA

6. Hikage's hair color is white.

7. Nana's last name is spelled with the kanji for "determination" and "village", while her first name is spelled with the kanji for "vegetable" and "what". Her eyes are purple.

8. Hikage's name is always underlined in red whenever I type it. Spelling suggestions are "Chikage" "Hikade" and "Haage". (Not in the wiki, but this needs to be shared.)

9. Banjo has dull blue eyes and his goggles are described as stylish. (I think they kind of look like Aizawa's though. Does that mean Aizawa wears knock-offs?)

10. Musutafu is made up. The name is to reference the planet Mustafar in Star Wars. This means that I can do whatever I want in that city because it is made up. The best kind of city.

Seabling Headcanons

Lizzie loses her memories every few centuries or so. It’s how she is still convinced she is a human being.

She always finds herself near the sea. After losing her memories post rapture, she joined a fishing town as a merchant of jewelry made of shells, sea glass, coral bits, scales, and if she can get her hands on them, pearls.

Joel was horrified to see his wife not remember him, Lizzie just saw him as this weird pompous sculpted who somehow knows her.

They fall in love again, and live a quiet life.

She still hates salmon.

Jimmy after the rapture became a cryptid. He lost his kingdom, Scott, his sister, his allies, everything. He just stopped going outside the swamp and is going slightly stir crazy.

Even during ESMP Season 2, it’s common knowledge to not go near the swamp with cod filled waters.

The swamp is lush with magical ingredients, that are incredibly valuable to witches and magic users but those you wander in are caught and are found a week later in the rivers, alive bit with no recollection on what happened.

In the Codlands, there is the superstition to leave a button on your door lest the red bird man spirits you away.

He still keeps around mementos of the people he held the closest such as a dried poppy, an old broken eggshell, and broken and shattered goggles.

He holds himself responsible for the rapture and lives in guilt of it.

Your headcanons are oh so cool and so heartbreaking at the same time omg...... Lizzie forgetting about everything once again and Jimmy feeling guilty for the whole rapture!!! Amazing!! Also the superstition about the red bird man that's so funny i love that. Everyone needs to read these NOW !!

I wanna badly ask how does it work the octo expansion au with Army!! I mean, were they not present in the rest of the stuff that happens in all manga, like they appear only in octo expansion part or there is like a different planning on how Army is before being in the metro. Yea im really curious about this.. (AND wanna add i really love your drawings and you made me end up being part of the poly s5 nation fr🦅)

ok so this has been a big question for a while because having a different character be in a different place with coroika specifically can throw in a lot of issues because everythings so specific around character situations. for armys plot specifically the plan is for him to be present for the entire manga, but in octo expansion his memory of previous events in inkopolis get knocked out. its basically more of a self reflection in that way, hachis story was about regaining his memory but armys story is more focused on accepting his memories since he'd been in disguise previously. i think the only time i drew army in different stages of his memory is here for the side order art i was being silly... (l to r 'inkling' army, oe army, so army)

dropping army into the metro is. a bit of an issue because army isnt present when goggles gets shoved out the salmon run boat. so it creates an issue because theres no reason army would be in octo canyon or anything to encounter rider, much less likely to fight with them because hes disguised. so that situations out the window but with coroika it just so happens to work out GREAT because the s4 had been in a salmon run after goggles.

and guess how goggles got to the metro. he fell off a salmon run boat BAAAM PERF PLOTLINE. since goggles is also present as a character in the oe au as a plot leader i think im just going to have army fall later and find goggles somewhere ahead. goggles isnt really as impactful here because. i dont like goggles too much but he needs to b there. so whatever.

Her face is concealed by another huge, v-shaped plate, with each prong reaching outwards, like horns. Two circular “lenses” are etched into the plate where her eyes would be. They look kind of like goggles, or a knight’s visor. Her muzzle is plated chitin as well, and looks like a shark’s nose crossed with a turtle’s beak. When she opens her mouth, it’s revealed that she has a second set of jaws in her throat. These jaws resemble a squid or octopus beak.

There are some other doodles, too. Reyes picks up a chubby little baby version of the critter, which looks more like a typical trilobite. She smiles a deranged smile at it. Another doodle shows Reyes eating a breakfast burrito in front of the critter’s fully-grown form. The beastie delicately extracts individual pieces of ham from the burrito with her second set of jaws while Reyes isn’t looking.]

I’m already doing PR work for fungi, hiveminds, and parasites with the endeme, but what if i did PR for crop pest species too. I’m thinking about tyranids and zerglings and how they hold up a mirror to colonial settler fears. you are afraid of everything the eye can see being extracted by a foreign invader? of the very landscape around you becoming biologically, functionally, culturally, socially uniform? what if the terrible things i did to other people… happened 2 me….

The endeme keys into impaired ecosystems that are artificially kept in the first stages of succession, and that’s the reason it is monstrous and scary and ‘successful’ (like most weeds and pioneer species, it is not competitive and becomes second banana to whoever comes after it.) But I think it would be neat to meet it from the other end and play off of fungal and viral crop diseases. Maybe there are some funny little guys who are, like, not a big deal until you put a monoculture in front of them. Like normally there isn’t a giant interstellar bug in the sky, but you razed + converted an entire planet into its favorite food. what did you expect.

Anyway I think it would be funny if Earth had a cicada ‘nid horrible spacebug spawning event every 17 years or whatever, where the hive masses of the void return to their natal origin and eat all of their young and fuck and die and get eaten by their giant mom. They’re like salmon moving nutrients from the ocean to the continents, except they’re shuttling nutrients from the unfathomable beyond to different planets. And they can crawl onto land and eat all of your corn. You know how it is.

I think what happens is there’s a “larval” stage that spends most of its life as a detritivore, wiggling around in the dirt for 17 years. And then they have a mass emergence event that coincides with the “hive” forms returning from abroad to hunt and eat most of their young. In turn, they’re hunted and eaten by their larger, more predatory peers, climbing up and up the trophic chain until you make it back to The giant space bug herself.

I think this is like a summer gorging event crossed with a rare mineral pilgrimage for them. Fueling up for years and years of floating around in the abyss between worlds, and collecting rare vitamins while they’re at it.

The impact on Earthen flora and fauna is dramatic and mixed. The buggies are playing a really meta game of energetic monopoly, which has also been brewing underground for 17 years. So, their main objective is extracting their larvae + passing them up the chain as food to mom. But they are also looking for other things to eat. They prefer plants, algae, and fungi at the bottom of the trophic chain to critters at higher levels of the chain, because producers make up way more biomass and are doing more efficient energy transactions. They are also trying to minimize what’s basically mass bioaccumulation, which hivemom is *extremely* sensitive to. So, they’re actually quite picky about which individuals have the ‘honor’ of becoming food.

Some people think it’s more complicated than this, and that the hive is making complex land management decisions informed by things like carrying capacity, local extinction, replacement rates, succession, and so on, but that’s craaaaazy hahaha…. They would never develop such a sophisticated relationship with plants and animals…...... Unless?

Either way, this results in very patchy feeding pockets, where some forests might be nibbled down to the dirt, and others are untouched. This also means that most heterotrophs don’t really have anything to worry about during the spawning/eating frenzy. There’s a 7-ton centipede outside the house and she might cause the roof to cave in, but she mostly just wants to eat your potatoes.

Outsiders understandably view this as an apocalyptic feeding event, because oh my god every trophic level is usurped by bugs, and a non-negligible amount of organic matter IS being taken away by bug mom. But they also leave behind an equal mass of dead bugs, individuals who fall prey to the local flora and fauna, have reached the end of their lives, or were deemed “unfit” for intraspecies eating because they have, like, more than 0.3 micrograms of zinc in their body.

Obviously if you were planning on growing any kind of staple crop that year, good luck have fun. But typically their buggy leavings are enough to last other animals through the year while the plantlife recovers. It’s like a rare treat that comes around every 17 years.

All that to say Reyes ate nothing but forbidden lobster tails for several months when she was, like, 10, and she has been thirsting for them ever since.
