RIP Sakevi Yokoyama
when i was more active in music, GISM was definitely one of my road maps.
a lot (and i mean A LOT) of bands took the surface noise of GISM (the metal riffs, the guttural vocals, the collage art, the violence) and ran with that as their primary influence source. but what i got out of them (and Sakevi in particular) was how to build your own universe through the song titles, lyrics, art, and performance of the material, making it your own. Misfits did that. Von did that. Plasmatics did that. Nuclear Death did that. Eyehategod did that. Foetus did that. Naked City did that. Integrity did that. Big Black did that. Lydia Lunch does that. Rorschach did that. Kickback did that.... and so on (babbling babbling). it makes what your doing feel more handmade... more intense... more pure and direct... more your own.
RIP

Apparently there’s word going around that Sakevi from GISM has passed away, but I can’t find any confirmed reports.
Extreme before extreme.

Looks like the news about Sakevi has been confirmed :(
Kind of struggling to reconcile the amount of people we've lost in the last ten days.
