washed up celebrity vil and his two loyal, dedicated fans 😭 there are fans out there who wish for vil's stardom or constantly reminisce on it to but them, he's still their star, regardless of the passing of his glory days. rook would still constantly call vil his etoile, because he is! he is the brightest star to him. yuu would still call him his queen because his reign is eternal in their hearts. everyday when vil does his skincare routine he clings onto his title of fairest of them all with all his might. his finger nails are digging into that hinge. he is the most beautiful. god he may not be beautiful in the eyes of the world he knew for so long but it's his to claim. when rook proudly exclaims at how radiant vil is today and yuu presses an affectionate kiss to his hair he knows it's still his. and he'll still have the CD's of his old hits stored in his film collection and every so often his heart will twist and turn in his chest when he as so much lays an eye upon it. if vil never missed it too much, rook and yuu are more than glad to reenact the whole plot in lighthearted reverie-- and he'll be the only star of the show, here. no matter what he plays. the quick disposal of him as if he were nothing stings more than anything, all over a few wrinkles lining his skin. but even an ambrosia apple's ruby veneer will sport a few wrinkles and still be sweeter than anything on the lips. right. right?

the only reason im so hesitant to write that vampire!rookvil x artist!yuu fic isn't just because of the time constraint but also the fact that i cannot, for the life of me, come up with a line of dialog i actually think vil would say. like yeeeeaaaaaaa ive analyzed his character more than i ever have for rook but rook is pretty predictable in that whatever he says is gonna be some borderline concerning, flowery, passionate, never ending bullshit OR sensible advice delivered in, again, flowery terms. for vil it feels too sacrilegious to potentially come up with something he might not say 💔
I’m currently writing a Vil fic and oh man this is REAL. characterization is like. The crux of what makes a good fic (imo) so I also get super hung up on it. I live in fear of the “he would not fucking say that” text meme. There are so many layers to Vil and I want to do all of them justice. He’s insanely intelligent, well spoken, and often very straight to the point. He has such a well composed facade but he also has a load of tumultuous emotions under the surface that he does try and handle with grace and dignity (both for his reputation and because of his own self image). He can be so painfully kind and can also stamp down any sort of rebellion without breaking a nail. Like to me Vil is the most human of the cast for sure, he’s been fleshed out in a really wonderful way. I totally get why he’s hard to write for 😭😭😭 you are not alone in that regard anon

the mosaics would be soooo perfect. ive always been haunted with images of an extremely decadent mosaic/stained glass window depicting a breathtaking religious figure while someone lays slumped up against it either really bloodied or pathetic. like the brainworms have got to come out some way or another. im pretty sure reincarnated yuu would have to look starkly different to past life because rookvil would definitely construct a grand, gothic cathedral with countless stained glass windows depicting their beloved as holy, revered, awe-inspiring. should yuu visit it, and they likely will, they'd have to bear witness to it. every day, the townsfolk lay their eyes upon the enigmatic icon as they offer their whole hearted worship with hands clasped together in earnestness. flowers yuu used to loved would be placed ever so often as tribute to them. when yuu sits in the pews, they hear the people next to them mutter some rather unorthodox wishes-- they pray for their safe return. i mean, the christians often pray for the second coming of jesus, and the cathedral draws on many architectural aspects of Christian places of worship-- it is not unheard of for religious practitioners to hope for their god to reveal themself once more, but these people pray for nothing else like they do. not for prosperity and love and health and forgiveness-- the return of this deity is all that to them and more. what if yuu visits this cathedral on their first day in town, acquainting themselves with the area first before painting for the lords, and it turns out the person they sit next to is actually rook or vil? they wouldn't know, but he might. they'd ask him innocent questions about this unique, localized deity, seeing as they seemingly are not aligned with Christianity or any other notable religion, and he'd respond as though their identity was a given, their grandeur were obvious by a mere glance, the kindness of their heart and hand far out does any other religious icon. they'd be rather confused about the very niche belief system of this towns religion, so he'd offer them a tour of the place, indulge them a little. gesture to every single artistic detail as if it were born from his own fingers. unveil the secrets of the ones who built this cathedral ever so slightly, and of their desire, their purpose, their faith. he'd speak of very zealous practitioners who come into the Booths late at night to profess their hearts desire that only the silence of night and the ears of this deity are privy to. of the trembling hands and the teary eyes and the lips pressed to the coloured glass-- all out of worship, of course! and he's so very confident that their ardent worship will be answered one day. only if he knew that his prayers for his love were answered the moment yuu overheard them. when yuu finally leaves for the day, he remains-- leaning his back against the mosaic of their past life. only, instead of letting his gaze rise skyward towards the beloved figure in the window, like it was instinct for his eyes to train themselves upon the dearest thing to his heart and nothing else, he lets his eyes linger on the gorgeous stranger. he realised he never asked for their name. but it's a small town here, anyways. he'll find out, sooner or later. and he lies there a little while longer, kissing the mosaic he so painstakingly made and installed. maybe there can be a scene where rookvil returns, bloodied and wearied, but taking refuge at the foot of the mosaic. like im too tired to think of any more ideas but i definitely?? need blood??? in a vampire and religion coded fic????
anyways about yuu recognizing the artworks made in their likeness around the town, they can either
1. look very different, so themes of change and endurance of love can be incorporated
2. suffer a curse that unables anyone to recognize past yuu, so more plot heavy ideas can be incorporated
3. have the face of the artwork shrouded, but knowing rookvil, they'd likely want their face to be the most notable aspect
also there is definitely a scene where yuu helps vil pick out an outfit for dinner at their castle, or perhaps a fancy event in town. his servants are too busy with prep, and rook has already gotten ready to oversee everyone-- yuu should be a dear and help him out. yuu can either be the one kneeling before vil, helping him put on his undergarments which really are just a lingerie set, fastening the buckles on his shoe, pulling his zipper up.... hands brushing against his skin far too often and their breath kissing him. or vil can be the one to pick out an outfit for them, since they likely did not come with an outfit for a grand event. there, vil could drop very vague recountings of his past and his desire for beauty and perfection and all his hard work and all his previous experiences getting ready except they sound strangely outdated. they lay their eyes upon a gorgeous reliquary sitting in the middle of his dresser, and they ask what's inside. he replies, only the most valuable and priceless items of his amid his luxury. it's a limited edition and rare collection! but he does hint at having teeth and blood and hair inside it, and yuu doesn't press any further. gothic people are often for macabre trinkets anyways, they suppose. and vil notes that their hair is exactly like the one he keeps inside the ostentatious reliquary as he works on their hair.
alternatively, the reliquary could have past yuu's face on it, so it could be a chance for vil to add onto the story of this mysterious face that is all over the town and the furnishing of this castle. while vil is in the closet, rummaging for items, they peek into it. full of teeth and hair and blood and, maybe, preserved skin and tattered fabrics and a dried flower that is coincidentally their favorite and what seems to be a love letter and luxurious perfume bottles and paintbrushes and-- before they can see what else is inside this strange trove, vil returns, so they promptly close it and they resume with their getting ready.
urk im so sleepy i can't even see the letters on my keyboard. reliquaries are so pretty. hrngh. i nerd to sleep
I’m literally obsessed with the concept of RookVil unintentionally (or intentionally) deifying their lover over hundreds of years of trying to preserve their memory oh my GOD??? The village slowly forgetting a time where the mysterious figure was not venerated by both them and their lords??? And idk why but. I feel like Vil would be the one to really take the process to the extreme in his grief.
And on reasons for them to come back bloody hooo boy. If they thought they’d found a trace of you they’d hurl themselves into hell- they’d follow your trail anywhere, into places even they aren’t fully equipped for. Making the long trek back empty handed, covered in blood that does not belong to them, they’d stop at the cathedral as if it was second instinct. Apologetically kissing the mosaic, it’s like their grief is fresh anew- they have to start all over again any time something like this happens.
Anywho !!! Sleep well anonie <3 !!! Get some rest <3

STOP AGDHHS i forgot i had that fic idea stuffed up the ass of my archives but i thought you might have some more ideas to embellish it, since you have an art history degree (which is pretty fucking neat!), especially about the details of the art they'd produce and just how it influences multiple cultures; kind of a way to show just how adamant they are on having the memory of their lost love live on. my senior year means i won't get to work on it at all but if i do id definitely funnel my attention towards getting the rook cunt hunting scene down good because by god. that man drives me nuts. does he hunt an animal down? does he hunt yuu down? does yuu hunt rook down?? who fucking knows man. all of the above and more.
I am currently chewing the carpet HELLO!!!!
Also before we dive into this: good luck w senior year ::D !!! The last year of any type of schooling is rough, HS or Uni, but I applaud you and know you will do well !!!
So, as for artworks: if RookVil are commissioning, collecting, and creating works from all over the world, I have some suggestions.
1: A MOSAIC FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST AVHHHGHG THEY ARE SO TIME CONSUMING AND ORNATE AND OFTEN MASSIVE, THEY ARE SUCH A COMMITMENT!!! I cannot stress this enough- it is individual pieces of colorful glass arranged PAINSTAKINGLY to create their subject. Historically mosaics have been used for lots of different reasons, but often to showcase wealth and (frequently) religious or sacred subject matter. Mosaics are a SUPER old art form, like dating back to Mesopotamia. But they’ve been found/utilized all over the world, especially in the Mediterranean and Northern Africa. The Romans rlly liked mosaics, and the Byzantines were well known for their super ornate and massive mosaic works.
2: woodblock prints. They’re incredibly beautiful, but also showcase understanding of color and line weight. You have to carve/copper each stamp so the images line up on top of one another to create the correct overall look. Block printing can also be done on textiles like silk, which leaves me with the mental image of silk brocades with multiple block prints/a pattern of either their lost love or one large print of the three of them. Block printing has origins/prominent ties in South and East Asia
3: I fucking love textiles so TAPESTRIES. I genuinely. Need I say more? You get the idea qslsjsodjdu <33 they’re a relatively global art
4: still an art object but more of me being weird, reliquaries. Basically they’re ornate containers meant to hold the relics of (typically) religious figures. Many religions practice the keeping of/pilgrimage to holy relics contained in reliquaries. They were mega popular with Christians for a hot minute, originally in Eastern Christian denominations (Eastern Orthodox and the like) before moving into western Christian churches. France had a lot of them if I’m not mistaken??? Ik that even some of their non religious dignitaries/royalty requested to have reliquaries made from some of their remains. Anyway reliquaries can contain anything affiliated with the person they’re devoted to- hair, teeth, bones, personal belongings, etc. they’re meant to be sacred and often time supremely beautiful. I think it would be especially painful if RookVil had created some kind of reliquary for their lover out of whatever personal items they’d left behind when they vanished.
Those are just some ideas !!!! Now. As for Rook and the hunting.
Thinking about Yuu watching him prepare for a hunt from the upper floors of the castle. The window of their makeshift studio overlooks the wooded area Rook so frequently disappears into. He’s in more casual clothing than they’re used to, so that’s already kind of eye catching. They watch as he sits by the tree line and waxes his bow string, carefully examining all of his equipment with practiced ease and a steady hand. They don’t even realize theyre staring until he looks up, meets their gaze, and waves. Of course Yuu looks away- that’s so embarrassing! Staring at their mysterious new benefactor and getting caught? Watching him from his own home? And of course it had to be Rook, who would be so kind and chatty about the ordeal without fail. When they finally risk a peek, he’s no longer by the tree line. Instead he’s standing on the lawn beneath the window, waving again. It then becomes clear he’s asking them to come down and join him. Can they really say no? Do they want to say no?(Absolutely not).
Cue Rook and his typically chatty disposition, guiding them across the crunching leaves that cover the lawn and towards the edge of the woods (it is autumn in my mind idk why but that makes me even crazier about this scenario). He doesn’t seem to have taken offense to them staring, instead asking if they’re curious about what he’s doing. He seems to think their interest was in his hobby rather than him, which is a relief. The conversation is easy- he seems genuinely excited to talk to someone about his passion. It’s easy to see that this is a longtime practice of his- he has the build for it for sure, which they’re certain of now that they’re up close. They are not sure how it happens, but before they know it he’s offering to teach them how to shoot. Something in them replies affirmatively before their brain can really catch up. And so there they are, caged in between his arms, his hands guiding theirs over the bow. He speaks softly and he smells like the outdoors, and between gentle instructions he makes a joke about how Vil will have his head if he gets their precious artist covered in “forest muck” before dinner. Yuu can practically hear Vil’s voice chiding Rook with that very phrase, and it does make them laugh a little. The huntsman seems pleased that they relax at that- he doesn’t want to scare them off, after all. Even if he could always bring them back (in theory, maybe not in practice) the prospect is vaguely terrifying to him. And so they fire the arrow under Rook’s careful guidance, which he seems absolutely thrilled to pieces about. He’s quick to guide them into the forest then, as if completely forgetting Vil’s imminent displeasure at their little adventure. In that ever jovial tone of his, he says something that almost sounds reverent- that he can’t wait to make them into the hunter they were always born to be.
SORRY I WENT BONKERS BALLS TO THE WALL ALSOSHDUDJ THESE ARE. MY FAVORITE TOPICS ANON. ANYWHO. AFFHHHGGGVHHHH!!!!

i think the lack of sleep is slowly eating me from the inside out BUT a previous artist who tried to fulfill their request for a perfect portrait slashes a tapestry from when all 3 of them were together and in love like that one scene in merida and instead of like burning the artists paintbrushes they burn them. vil spends days toiling over the tear in the fabric and rook. actually i can't even finish that thought im sleep. yea. ROOK 💯💯🔥🔥💯💯🤞🤞🤞💯🤞🤞💯💯🤞🤞🤞🤞
SCREAMS god why are you dropping the hottest gothic novel in my inbox (pls continue to do so I’m literally obsessed) !!!! I firmly believe Vil would be the one to burn them to ash. It would be virtually instinctive- not even Rook could stop that. But afterwards, oh god. The grieving. Not to say that rook wouldn’t have killed them- oh absolutely, but Rook would’ve done it with his bare hands. Not a hunt, not a game- he receives no enjoyment from it either. Either way, it doesn’t make the two of them feel any better.
