Requested by @legenspeople: Conversation between Nick & Salim and Nick & Eric in Strange Aeons :)
Because of "Curator's Cut, I'm going to pick at least some different choices" reasons, Eric and Rachel had a bad relationship in this playthrough T__T I don't actually know if that's relevant, but it might be. I will probably soon find out :)

Benali Low-CC Makeover
Salim grew up in the Arts Quarter with all its creative influence. He knows his writing--specifically his poetry--can touch the hearts of many. Except there's a new book he wants to read, And a project he wants to start. And he definitely can't miss happy hour. With so many distractions in the city, will he ever be able to finish his book?
No-cc version available on the gallery @m0ckest 🖤 See my other low-cc makeovers
Salim has the same routine every day. Wakes up slightly hungover, eats a banh mi at the food stall downstairs, watches the violinists busking in the Arts Center plaza, strains to find inspiration to write, goes back to his apartment, sits in front of his computer, drinks gim & dusties until he falls asleep, and repeats.
Sometimes this is sprinkled with nights out, mingling with locals and artists. But most of the time, it's just him and cuddly Lalami.
He has books and books worth of poetry written that he's dying to share, but something is holding him back. Maybe it's the same thing holding him back from changing up his routine. Maybe one of his walks around the city will strike inspiration one day.
No-CC except for my defaults and a couple skin details. I’ve added some relevant relationship levels, preferences, skills, degrees, and more.

Celebrating 49 years of #Deewaar (24/01/1975).
Deewaar, one of the greatest Indian films of all time, was directed by the legendary Yash Chopra. It continues to captivate audiences with its powerful performances, compelling storytelling, and timeless themes. A major critical and commercial success upon its release, Deewar features #AmitabhBachchan in an iconic role as Vijay Verma, a dock worker who becomes a powerful underworld figure. His performance is celebrated for its raw emotion and intensity.
The film’s memorable soundtrack, composed by R.D. Burman, includes classics like "Kehdoon Tumhe, Ya Chup Rahun" and "Maine Tujhe Maanga, Tujhe Paaya Hai", which have become synonymous with the film. The entire cast, particularly Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, deliver outstanding performances that capture the complexities of their characters. The film also stars Neetu Singh, Nirupa Roy, Parveen Babi, Iftekhar, Madan Puri, Satyen Kappu, and Manmohan Krishna.
Deewar's groundbreaking portrayal of poverty and crime in India remains powerful and relevant, exploring themes of brotherhood, corruption, and betrayal. The moral dilemmas faced by those living in poverty are highlighted through its screenplay, written by Salim–Javed, and the brilliant direction of Yash Chopra.
Nearly five decades later, Deewar continues to resonate with audiences, cementing its place in Indian cinematic history. Its impact on Indian cinema and global audiences is undeniable. For anyone who hasn’t seen Deewar, it’s a must-watch. The powerful performances, unforgettable dialogues, and timeless songs make it an essential experience for any fan of Indian cinema.
As we celebrate 49 years of this cinematic masterpiece, let's acknowledge the talents behind it: Cinematography by Kay Gee; Editing by T. R. Mangeshkar & Pran Mehra; salim Music by R. D. Burman; Lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi; Screenplay by Salim–Javed; Production by Gulshan Rai. Let's raise a glass to Deewar, a film that will forever be remembered as a true classic in Indian cinema.

Salim isn’t too far behind the line after the death of Pepper.
With the exception of two of Pepper’s co-workers, Salim has outlived everyone relevant to Mint Gen. He became an elder BEFORE Pepper did, and he still outlived her. I’m still very surprised about this.

Salimgarh Fort, Delhi: A Citadel of Mughal Intrigue and History
Salimgarh Fort, standing proudly along the banks of the Yamuna River in Delhi, is a fortification shrouded in history, mystery, and strategic importance. Built during the reign of the Mughal Empire, this fort has witnessed significant historical events and played a crucial role in shaping Delhi's destiny. In this article, we will delve into the intriguing history, architectural features, and cultural relevance of Salimgarh Fort.
Historical Background
Salimgarh Fort, also known as Salimgarh Citadel, holds a prominent place in Delhi's history. It was constructed in 1546 AD by Emperor Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Suri Empire, who named it after his son Salim Shah Suri. However, it was later renovated and reinforced by the Mughal Emperor Islam Shah Suri.
After the Mughals regained control of Delhi, Emperor Shah Jahan made significant modifications to the fort. It became an essential component of Shah Jahan's vision for his new capital, Shahjahanabad (present-day Old Delhi), serving as a defensive stronghold.
Architectural Marvels
The architecture of Salimgarh Fort is a blend of Mughal and Afghan styles. The fort is characterized by massive bastions, sturdy walls, and watchtowers strategically positioned to overlook the surrounding area. The bastions offered vantage points for defense, enabling the fort to withstand potential attacks.
The fort is spread over a considerable area, and its well-designed layout showcased the Mughals' expertise in military architecture. The strategic positioning of the fort along the Yamuna River made it an essential defensive structure for the Mughal rulers.
Role and Significance
Salimgarh Fort played a crucial role in the history of Delhi. It was strategically positioned to provide security to the royal family and the imperial capital, making it an integral part of the defensive mechanisms during various invasions and battles.
During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the fort became a key site of resistance against the British forces. Bahadur Shah II, the last Mughal emperor, took refuge in the fort during the revolt. The fort ultimately fell to the British, marking the end of the Mughal rule and further solidifying British dominance in India.
Present-Day Status and Preservation
Today, Salimgarh Fort is under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Although much of the original structure has been lost over time, efforts have been made to preserve and restore the remaining architectural elements.
The fort is open to visitors, offering a glimpse into its historical past. Tourists and history enthusiasts can explore the fort's walls, bastions, and scenic views of the Yamuna River, all while experiencing the intriguing stories embedded within its aged stones.
Conclusion
Salimgarh Fort stands as a silent witness to the ebb and flow of Delhi's history, representing the power struggles and triumphs of various rulers and empires. Its architectural grandeur and historical significance make it a vital heritage site, reminding us of the diverse narratives that have shaped the destiny of Delhi and India as a whole.

Summer Internship : 8 - 15 April 2023
Choosing My Summer Internship
I wanted to have the experience of an external internship for the requirement for the ICE module. I started looking for music labels/companies in Singapore and Mumbai to do a two-month in-person internship.
The company that I looked at based in Singapore was Sixième Son a sonic branding and sound production agency. Since 1995, they have created sonic identities for over 450 brands. Before encountering this company I had only known of sonic branding casually, as 'jingles'. I had only heard and read about it as something freelance producers do along with their production practice, on the side. Hence the company and their sole business of creating these sonic identities for other companies intrigued me.
youtube
The label that I looked at based in Mumbai was Merchant Records. It was founded by the popular Indian composer duo consisting of siblings Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. The duo, known as Salim-Sulaiman, are best known for their roles as music directors and composers in Bollywood (Indian film industry). I have a background in Indian classical dance and singing and I thought this would be a good opportunity to understand the music industry in India. I was also looking forward to learning more about composing Indian classical music and incorporating it with popular music.
Tumblr media
Before contacting either company I made a resume/CV that summed up my experiences. I used the information provided in a CV Workshop that was conducted in Year 2 Sem 2 to add relevant information along with my experiences.
Tumblr media
Contacting and applying for the internship
I contacted both companies through email and WhatsApp with my CV and a short introduction about what the internship was for and what I was hoping to achieve.
Here is the email chain with Florent Adam, the Managing Director of the Singaporean branch of Sixième Son:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the company was not looking for creative interns at that time and I don't have any experience with marketing. However, this process and exchange was good research into opportunities in the field of audio and/or marketing related to music in Singapore. I was able to find a company that I could consider working at after my studies.
I was lucky to receive the contact of the CEO of Merchant Records through a family member, which made the communication process more convenient. Here is my exchange with Shivansh Jindal, the CEO of Merchant Records:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the text exchange, we spoke on the phone and Shivansh gave me more details about the internship. Initially, they weren't officially hiring interns, however even if they did it would be for the marketing side of the agency. I explained that I did not have any experience with marketing, fortunately, Shivansh was happy to teach me along the way with the necessary work. I was quite nervous to contact the CEO directly but after learning that Shivansh had a small team under him and was adamant on a casual work environment, I was able to communicate easily.
I was very happy with this outcome as I got to learn something completely new and am being guided by an expert in the field. It was a good job-shadowing opportunity to get involved in the marketing side of music, something I was never exposed to. With the added casual nature, I felt more at ease communication-wise as well.
Along with a new workplace and work experience, I was also going to live alone in Mumbai. This would be the first time I would live and work away from family. While I was nervous, the fact that I would live in my childhood home in Mumbai comforted me. I was looking forward to learning and doing all the other things that came with living alone (managing the house, commuting, food).

for other Jesuit enterprises in relevant mission fields where Lisbon and Madrid had vested interests such as Ethiopia, China and Japan. Alessandro Valignano, who believed that the most promising mission fields of Japan and China should be the priorities of the Society of Jesus, bitterly noted to Claudio Acquaviva that the failure of the second mission corroborated his negative perception of the potential of the Mughal court: ‘in my judgment, the mission of Mogor should be avoided, because we already have experience of what the Mughal [Akbar] wanted’.16 The second mission also generated considerable expectation in Europe. On 14 August 1591, the Jesuit provincial of Sicily, Bartolomeo Ricci, reported with some enthusiasm the arrival at Messina of an Armenian named Antonio Giorgio, who spent a year in Mughal lands and carried letters from the Portuguese governor of Goa, Manoel de Sousa Coutinho, and had news of a new Jesuit mission to the Mughal court. Antonio Giorgio told Ricci that in December 1589 that Antoni de Montserrat and Francisco Henriques had been summoned again by Akbar, probably confounding the departure of the Catalan missionary to Ethiopia with the second mission to Mogor. The Great Mughal was apparently on the verge of converting his empire to Christianity. According to the Armenian, the emperor’s sons, Salim, the future emperor Jahangir and Daniyal, had been baptised, and many at the Mughal court had seen Akbar and the princes listening to Mass. The news of the imminent conversion of the Timurid ruler and the baptism of his heirs was spectacular. Even more spectacular was the news that Akbar had ordered the destruction of 60 mosques across his dominions. Antonio Giorgio also mentioned that four more Jesuit missionaries would be soon sent to Lahore, mentioning the names of Gomes Vaz, who was a serious candidate to be part of the mission, and one Luis Leitão, probably a confusion with Duarte Leitão.17 Antonio Giorgio, however, did not carry with him any letter from the Jesuits to confirm his account, but only a copy destined to Philip II of a letter from Akbar addressed to the Portuguese governor, M
The privileges obtained in Lahore and Khambhat encouraged Manuel Pinheiro to invest in a ‘popular mission’ focusing on targets outside the Mughal court, in particular the lower strata of Mughal society. The division of the third mission into two fields, the court and the commoners, would be definitively confirmed when Akbar decided to move the court from Lahore to Agra, also in 1598. The decision to move the imperial seat was, once again, related to the Mughal expansion in the Deccan. The end of the Gujarati rebellion allowed the emperor to invest more time and resources in the Deccan campaigns. In the same way that the proximity of Lahore to Gujarat allowed Akbar to closely follow the suppression of Muzaffar Khan’s uprising, Agra offered an ideal base to direct the Mughal war effort against the Deccani sultanates. For the Jesuits, the transfer came at a rather inconvenient time, at the precise moment when the works for a new church and residence in Lahore started. Moreover, the missionaries already supervised a small community of local converts, European Catholics and Armenian Christians who resided in Lahore.
other relevant figures of the Mughal elite. As the head of the body politic, the emperor could establish Christianity as the official religion or encourage other relevant social or political actors to embrace Catholicism. If the emperor was reticent to convert, the conversion of relevant courtiers and officials had the potential to institute an influential Christian elite that could create the necessary political conditions for the ruler’s conversion and subsequent Christianisation of Mughal India. As in other mission fields such as China, Japan and Ethiopia, the missionaries should concentrate their efforts on infiltrating non-Christian political structures and promote a conversion ‘from within’.114 For Xavier, Pinheiro’s ‘popular mission’ in Lahore, in spite of its encouraging numbers of converts, threatened the success of the top-down strategy at the imperial court. As a new religion, the association of Catholicism with the lower strata of Mughal society, in particular low-caste Hindus, could reduce its attractiveness in the eyes of the Mughal elites. In 1607, Xavier complained that the majority of the Lahore converts were ‘common and low people’ (gente comum e baixa).115 Like Xavier, Pinheiro sought a conversion ‘from within’ but, as his comments to Claudio Acquaviva indicated, also feared that the lack of conversions could terminate the Mughal mission. With his activities in Lahore he sought to establish a native Christian community that could safeguard the continuity of the mission and, at the same time, establish the Catholic Church as an integral part of the Mughal social and political landscape. Indeed, the formation of native Christian communities, and the role of the padres as their spiritual leaders, allowed the missionaries to pose as domestic political actors and explore different ways to engage with the Mughal polity and its elites. Indeed, Pinheiro’s agency in Lahore was made possible by an implicit acknowledgement that the Jesuit missionaries were part of a subordinate minority—the Christian community—and

Career World: Werewolves Update
Career World is now updated for the new Werewolves pack! All the links to the save file in previous posts have been updated accordingly, as have the Career Chart (finally a new focus area for the archaeologist career!) and the list of study abroad opportunities (we see you, Moonwood Collective's determination to be good werewolf ambassadors!). If you have already downloaded the save file, please re-download from this or any of the previous posts to get the update. Here are some of the changes from the last version:
All lots and pre-made townies from Moonwood Mill have been updated. The Wildfangs have moved into a trailer park on their side of the river, so there is now playable parity with regard to the wolfpacks.
The Moonwood Mill tunnel system now extends all the way down the mountain into Evergreen Harbor, plus one forgotten tunnel down the other side of the mountain to San Myshuno. Can you find all the entrances?
I made a change to the werewolf townies based on personal preference: I didn’t particularly like that the pre-mades were always hanging out in wolf form, just doing normal stuff like gardening and chatting to their neighbors. It seemed a little cartoony to me. I prefer the beast form to actually mean something, and be reserved for rampage/full moon. So I have re-locked the “Transformation Mastery” dormant ability for all the named pre-made townies that came with the pack, ensuring that they will always go around town in human form unless rampaging. This does mean that you can’t spar/do tug-of-war with them, so if you don’t like that, this change is extremely simple to undo. Nearly all of them are now playables in the world, so just opt to play the household you want to re-enable Transformation Mastery for, lock them in their house for the duration of the next full moon (which is tomorrow in-game, so this won’t even waste much of your time), and voila! Cartoony at-will wolf forms restored.
Relevant items from the Werewolves pack have been integrated into previous worlds. Specifically, the live- and movie-theatres of Del Sol Valley now have actual theatre seats, and the many fireplaces of Henford-on-Bagley now have extra wood on hand. Somehow that sawmill keeps doing its job, even wrecked and at the bottom of a tunnel.
Non-werewolf related: I realized in updating the Career Chart for the new pack that I had completely left out an unofficial career opportunity that came with City Living! Busking for money as a living statue is now listed under “street performer” in the ministry of labor careers, as is performing acting scenes for tips on the street. No longer will busking be limited solely to musicians! And of course, I had to add some sims in this new career, so I moved Salim Benali in with the other serious artists next door and gave his ratty apartment to the new street performers.
I also did a bunch of random small fixes of oversights I found in the previous version, like Vlad’s house having the wrong front door set, walls missing textures, mailboxes that spawned in the wrong spots, etc., etc.
Please re-download from the links at the top of this post, and happy simming!

~ In which a humble gardener celebrates the life of a fluffy magician...
Asra x Kipling
~ 1.3k words
Determined to write a poem for Asra's birthday, Kipling escapes to the Magician's realm for some inspiration...
Kipling sat on the astral beach of the Magician’s realm, looking out at the water as the tides came and went, lapping gently at her toes. Time wasn’t really relevant when it came to this place, but Kip judged that she had been sitting in the sand for about an hour. Her eyes still hadn’t adjusted to the way the glistening ocean pulsed and flickered with all the different dimensions breaking and interrupting each other, pretending to be waves.
Kip had her knees propped up, journal open against her brown, salt-flecked thighs. Not a single letter lived on the lined, creamy surface of the pages. She was running out of time.
Kipling closed her eyes, bowed her head against the blank pages and tried not to think about the other gifts Asra had received. The night before, Nadia had, with the help of Aisha and Salim, thrown Asra a Zadithi-style dinner party with all his favorite traditional dishes. The entire royal garden had been transformed into that of the date palm orchards from the temperate Zadithi oases.
Muriel had woven a miniature tapestry for Asra, equipped with depictions of bears and foxes and two small childlike figures huddling close by the fire, keeping each other warm.
Ozy had repurposed one of the books from his subterranean library into a gift for Asra. It was an old tome on all the different kinds of water magic from all over the world. Khleo’s gift was still in the works, but they were working with Basil to design a nonalcoholic cider ale that incorporated flavors from Asra’s favorite fruits and nuts. The skilled barhands were determined to make the cider give off a deep lavender glow, the same as the magician’s eyes.
“Stop it,” Kip muttered, knowing that she would drive herself crazy if she kept comparing her gift to everyone else’s.
But I don’t even have a gift for Asra yet.
“There you are.”
Kip straightened up suddenly at the sound of the greeting. She was not at all prepared to see Asra walking towards her barefoot, his trousers rolled up to his shins. The magician sat down next to his gardener and dropped a tender kiss between her eyes.
“Is this where you’ve been hiding all this time?”
Kip sighed. “I’m not hiding. I’m…” She looked down at her blank journal and bit her lip. “I was trying to write you a poem for your birthday.”
Asra’s fluffy tassels tickled her cheek as he wrapped an arm around her waist and looked out at the glittery waves. “Lucky me. I can’t wait to add another one of your poems to my collection.”
Kip shook her head and fought back the tears that wanted to escape.
“Asra, I’ve been trying to write this thing for weeks. I’ve lost count at the number of times that I had to start and stop. I thought that coming here would give me inspiration, but,” she tossed her head back and groaned at the magenta sky, “I just can’t pick something to focus on.”
Kip steadied herself with a deep breath before she turned to meet Asra’s gaze. He seemed both a little concerned and somewhat amused. He didn’t say anything in reply, which made Kip feel the need to keep explaining herself.
“I have too many ideas. For example, the first day we met or our visits to Nopal. I thought of writing a poem about how you helped me become comfortable with using magic again. Or how you stood by my side when I rediscovered grey magic.” She lowered her eyes to the teardrop necklace resting against Asra’s golden brown chest. “Then I thought about when you sacrificed everything so that my heart could beat again.”
She looked up into his amethyst eyes, which strangely, were unreadable in that moment. Asra looked like he wanted to speak, but he didn’t.
Kip huffed, “Or should I just write about you, Asra the Magician – As Above, So Below? Traveler of the realms and lands far and wide on the search for magical enlightenment, blah, blah, blah?”
That got her a chuckle. “That last idea must have come from Ozy.”
Kip tugged on one of his tassels. “I might have asked him for advice at one point.”
Then the gardener took advantage of the drop in tension and leaned toward Asra. Her lips found the reassurance she needed. In the heat of it all, Kip whispered, “You know I’m not good at grand gestures.”
She expected Asra to say something back, or at least make some kind of indication that he had heard her. When he only grew still and quiet, she leaned back and fixed him with an arched look.
“Asra, what? Aren’t you going to say anything?”
Once again, to her surprise, the magician smirked. “Are you done?” He didn’t wait for her to respond before saying, “The Magician taught me a lot of things over the years.”
Asra gently pried the journal out of Kip’s hand and set it off to the side. “Do you want to know what has stuck with me the longest?”
Kip wasn’t sure where this was going, but she took the bait anyway. “What’s that?”
The magician looked out at the water again. “It’s about magic. They taught me that magic doesn’t belong to any one person or entity. We will always have to call it into existence from another place. The illusion that magic comes from within is only because we ourselves are made up of dust and further, stardust.”
He pointed to the galactic lightshow overhead. “You see, magic moves through the mortal and the arcana realms, and thus it moves through us. So no matter how adept of magicians we become, there will always be gaps in our knowledge – parts of magic that we cannot transform or create from willpower alone. Because you can’t completely shape the universe unless you know all its parts. We don’t. We never will.”
Kip still wasn’t sure what to make of Asra’s speech, but she remained silent as he took her hand and drew it up to his chest, right over his heart.
“Those words that you’re always reaching for, trying to grasp and shape in a way that shows how you truly feel, it brings me back to the nature of magic. Remember how you were so lost when it came to your own understanding of magic? Yet it was inevitable that you should come to master it. Those words that you regard as elusive are inside of you, they always will be. They’re not going away. The universe could never bleed itself dry of magic, so what makes you think you’ll ever run out of something magical to say?”
By now Kip was blushing and struggling to maintain eye contact, especially with Asra’s heart thrumming just under her fingertips.
The magician went on. “Someday you’ll know exactly how to transform the words inside of you. But until then…” He used his other hand to lift her head up by her chin. “As Above, So Below. Heaven reflects Earth. Those words move through you, just as they move through me. Because... well. You know why.”
Maybe Kip imagined it, but something electric flashed under her skin where it connected with his heart. She thought she felt the same sensation in her chest too.
With a knowing smile, Asra dipped his chin. “So all the things that you’re feeling about me, about today, about the future... you don’t have to worry, Kipling because I feel them too. All day you’ve been here on the astral plane while I was back in our realm, but I still felt it.”
Asra’s words compelled Kip to close the distance between them, but he caught her just before she made the connection all the way. A soft whine found itself fighting to get out of her throat. Asra echoed hers with one of his own, holding her back despite the need in his eyes.
He said, “And since magic is timeless and eternal, that means that everything I feel, I know that I will feel it always.”
Finally he kissed her with everything he had. And when pulled away, all the sounds of the waves were eclipsed by the thundering of their hearts.
“Always.”
