Dacia confirma proyecto para el Dakar 2025 con Prodrive y Sebastien Loeb y Cristina Gutiérrez como pilotos

Se hizo oficial. El Grupo Renault entrará con un equipo oficial al Dakar en 2025 a través de la marca Dacia. El proyecto será comandado por Prodrive, que se encargará del desarrollo y preparación del prototipo de carreras. Y tendrá pilotos de lujo en Sebastien Loeb, que buscará con Renault su esperado triunfo en el Dakar y Cristina Gutiérrez, que contará con un auto oficial en la clase T1 por primera vez en su carrera.

"Después de tantos años en busca de esto; la primera cosa que voy a hacer es disfrutar la experiencia porque creo que es una oportunidad increíble la que me están dando. Por otro lado, el hecho de estar dentro ya de un equipo oficial hace que muchísima gente esté involucrada en el proyecto, trabajando a pleno rendimiento; contando así con mejores mecánicos e ingenieros, entre otros. Todo ello, se merece que estemos a la altura de poder transmitir o desarrollar el coche para estar en una posición muy buena." indicó Cristina Gutiérrez en el lanzamiento de la estructura. "Contamos con la experiencia y el apoyo, como equipo técnico, de Prodrive. Los conozco muy bien y ellos ya tienen una base bastante sólida en el Rally Raid, fruto de los años de experiencia que les avalan haciendo coches. Especialmente los dos últimos, con el proyecto Hunter”

El equipo Dacia contará con el apoyo de Saudi Aramco, que desarrollará un combustible sintético verde desarrollado con hirógeno verde y captura de carbono.

Para Dacia, el paso al Dakar representa un importante paso de marketing de la marca buscando posicionarse también en un segmento 4x4 deportivo y divertido, dejando la clásica imagen que se ha tenido de la marca de autos económicos.

"El rally-raid es una aventura humana y deportiva, claramente en correspondencia con los territorios de la marca Dacia: es una aventura robusta y al aire libre al volante de un prototipo 4x4 desarrollado para hacer frente a las condiciones más extremas; es una aventura eco-inteligente, con el coche de carreras de Dacia funcionando con combustible sintético, y una aventura esencial pero genial con un objetivo ambicioso que no deja espacio para lo superfluo" declara el comunicado de prensa de Grupo Renault.

El Rally Raid volverá a recibir la llegada de grandes marcas para disputar la victoria general. Hoy contamos con Toyota y Audi, enfrentando a Prodrive, y en 2025 contaremos con los dos nuevos programas de Ford y Dacia en plena escala.

In less than 24 hours, the first big motorsports event of the year starts, the Rally Dakar 2024. And with it, the new season of the FIA W2RC.

This year, it might get interesting with a few new things, compared to last year. First, there is the 48 hour stage, that is basically a extremely long stage with four night camps on the route, and the drivers have to stop at the next camp, after a specific time, to rest for the night. In the morning they'll have to continue the race from there and the time will continue to run. There won't be any service from their crew at night. It's basically the evolution of the marathon stage.

Nasser Al-Attiyah will be driving one of the Prodrive Hunter this year and is now a teammate of Sebastien Loeb. Which means one of the best rally pilots ever and one of the best rally raid pilots ever are now driving for the same team. It will be interesting to see who'll be the better one, but my prediction is Nasser Al-Attiyah.

Nasser's seat in the Toyota Hilux now goes to Seth Quintero from the USA. He was one of the top drivers, in the last two years, in the T3 category for lightweight prototypes. I think he is a good addition to the team and will make a good job. If he will be racing for the win in his first T1+ year is hard to answer, but I'd give him a year, instead of thinking he can win this year.

Will Audi finally be able to demonstrate that a electric car can win the Dakar? The car is definitely fast enough, and also the drivers are, especially with Stephane Peterhansel and Carlos Sainz. But what about the reliability? That was the big weakness in the last two years, maybe they will finally have a Dakar without too many problems. If yes, they will probably win.

Joan Barreda Bort is now driving for Hero. Will he finally win his first Dakar, or will he once again, lose it because of one of his many mistakes and crashes? He is fast enough for the win, he just needs to reduce his mistakes and maybe take a bit less risk.

Or will the win go back to KTM, after Honda won last year? The bike category will be as interesting as never before, at least if you take the last 20 years.

The truck category will get very unpredictable again. The second year without Kamaz and the third year without MAZ means that the Iveco of the DeRooy team and the czech MM Technology Iveco, driven by Martin Maczik, will be the big favorites. But Ales Loprais is always good for a surprise with his Praga.

En Arabia hasta 2029 al menos: El Dakar amplía su estadía en Medio Oriente

En la conferencia de prensa de lanzamiento de la ruta del Dakar 2024, ante la pregunta de periodistas españoles, David Castera confirmó que Arabia Saudita seguirá siendo parte del rally más importante del mundo al menos hasta 2029.

Si bien la próxima edición seguirá siendo 100% en Arabia Saudita, la ASO no se cierra a incluir otros países de la región del Medio Oriente en el futuro, tal vez en un par de años más, especialmente si logran ciertos acuerdos para que los trámites fronterizos sean más expeditos como se solía hacer en Sudamérica.

"Ir a otros países es una necesidad, pero más por la filosofía de descubrir cosas nuevas que porque lo requiera deportivamente. Pero no queremos hacerlo para simplemente salir un día de Arabia y volver, con la dificultad que tiene en el plano logístico y de burocracia por las fronteras y aduana, Si lo hago es para algo grande y bueno, por eso hay que esperar un poco más" indicó David Castera.

Por el momento todavía queda mucho de Arabia Saudita por descubrir según los organizadores, que esperan adentrarse más en el Empty Quarter en esta edición y llegar hasta un 60% de nuevo recorrido en 2024.

Qatar, los Emiratos Árabes, Jordania son países fronterizos con Arabia y que tienen tradición de rally raid, en tanto que Oman organiza habitualmente rallies de ruta para el Campeonato FIA del Medio Oriente.
