If Monique Verbena had a second outfit!

I knew I wanted to keep with the flower theme, I initially was like “I have to use Alberta Ferretti!” But I felt that it was too similar to her original outfit. (outfits from Alberta Ferretti fall 2020 rtw pictured below)

I remember seeing this Rahul Mishra runway and thinking how beautiful these looks would be on dolls (seriously, go take a look at this runway it’s stunning) I knew it would be perfect for Monique.

I didn’t love the pants that matched with the flower top from Rahul Mishra’s look, they were too slim and I wanted something with more shape, similar to Monique’s first outfits bigger silhouette. I came across these Rodarte pants and thought the bottoms looked like flowers, and the movement of them on the runway was an automatic “yes! from me, definitely gives the dramatic, shiny, and flowery Monique look!

i keed seeing ppl say “whyd they change venus’ microbraids to locs” but as far as i can tell they were never microbraids in the first place ?? lol

the doll and artwork were closer to resembling twists than anything else🤷🏻‍♀️

the only braids she ever had were on the side of her head lmao

but the cartoon has a record of changing details from art to doll to cartoon anyways

no hate tho its probably hard to tell for someone who doesnt have the doll but i just wanted to clear up any confusion hehe👍🏻

maybe they wanted locs for the doll but couldnt really find a way to do that without making it look tacky or stiff so they went with twists on the small scale ? idk idk

I hate that disney iiy 4ever and barbie are the only playline fashion dolls making fashion packs anymore (and both are similarly sized). I know people have said it's because it's more profitable for companies to just make a new doll instead and to just buy dolls with cute outfits when they're on sale, but that feels so freakin wasteful!!! I don't have younger family members or neighbors, I don't do repaints or modding, and I don't have any thrift stores or charity shops anywhere close by, so what am I supposed to do with a naked doll that I don't like???

I hope that always bratz and monster high g3 will bring back fashion packs, but so far the most we've gotten from mh has been the extra outfits in the skulltimate secrets sets...

All of the Moschino References for Jr. High Amaya Raine (Plus: join me in finding out how much she paid for this outfit to wear to Junior High)

The sweatshirt is based on Jeremy Scott’s “I Don’t Speak Italian But I Do Speak Moschino” tee, which he wore to his debut runway when he became Moschino’s creative director in 2014. The phrase was supposed to reflect Moschino’s transition from being very elite and exclusive to one that was more accessible to the general public, especially young people.

Amaya’s hoodie combines the slogan with Coco Chanel’s famous quote (“I don’t do fashion I am fashion”). Cost: $180 USD

Her shoes are these thigh-high boots created for a collaboration with H&M. I think the doll-scale replica is my favorite part of this outfit. Cost: $100

Her skirt I believe is this boucle miniskirt (boucle is a textile that’s like tweed made with softer material, a it tends to have a rougher, “messy” look.)

You can especially see the similarity when you look at the (real-life) skirt’s fabric up close. Pretty cool! And it better be, because it’s $450.

Her bag is this quilted logo backpack. This thing retails for $660 USD, why does a jr high student own this.

And she’s even got Moschino hair clips! ($400 worth of Moschino hair clips to be exact)

If Lavender Lynn had a second outfit!

I love the full outfit from Rodarte spring 2019 but I also loved the Balmain jacket and I knew I wanted to keep her theme of leather and lace (and some spikes!) mixed together

I like bothering the outfits individually but I thought combining them would be neat, the top from the Rodarte outfit would also be too big to fit under the jacket, but I love the cut of the Westwood bustier.

Also we need to pretend that the purples of the pieces all match up, or at least have similar tones to her first outfit, otherwise it does look a bit muddy! I’m not sure if the black shoes look good, the model in the Balmain runway is wearing black shoes so maybe it can work, they could also be there to match her glasses in a way.
