Let's face it, everyone in this story is a tragic character; even R's cat used to be a stray before becoming King Under the Mountain.

You have absolutely no idea how right you are, Anon!

I received this ask, proceeded to think about it for a moment, even considering some of the potential side character arcs, and just... 🧎‍♀️

While I do think that tragedy has shaped (or at least touched) many of the characters, it will be interesting to learn more about how they let that influence their choices in life/disposition. We dig deeper into Fernweh's history in Book Two: the Corvins, more Ms. Verner (yay? Not yay?), the lead mechanic, Milton (oof, let's see how he's doing after everything), etc. There's a lot going on within this small town. 🌲

Not to mention you will get to meet some new characters too.

Oh, a LoTR reference! 💍 (Yes, I had to look it up, but I agree that R's cat deserves to be royalty so does he. +5 R's cat approval for you. He also strongly feels his introduction in Book Two should be at the top of the list of 'revelations'. His arc is included in that listing above. 👀)
