Just One Glance

Synopsis: Set a few months after the events of the Secrets of the Scroll, and years before the events of the first Kung Fu Panda film, The Furious Five make their official debut as the new protectors of the Valley of Peace. Po, not really knowing who they are but remembers seeing them when they fought Boar together, and having enough memory to carve their action figures out of wood, sees them presented to society for the first time as masters. He is in awe of their skills and awesomeness, but one young Tigress catches his eye. 

If the events of Secrets of the Scroll was about the day Po fell in love with Kung Fu, then this is about the day he started crushing on Tigress.

Based on a short script I wrote a couple years ago (or longer, I can’t remember.) You can feel free to read the script here on FF.net.

I have been wanting to create a comic or animatic for this for a long time to get it out of my head, and I finally had some time to work on it over a weekend (emphasis on 'some'), so it’s not perfect, but enough to get the idea across lol. I can’t do voices, so had to add subtitles, but if anyone is interested in adding a voice over for these characters, let me know lol. 😂 Took some liberties, too, but I hope you KFP/TiPo fans enjoy nonetheless! 🐼 🐯 🍜

Remember that hug scene at the harbor where Po hugged Tigress and literally almost carried her?

Just IMAGINE a scene where, let’s say, they’re reunited after being apart for so long that Po carried Tigress and ✨twirled✨ her around with no hesitation before putting her down and then embracing her.

And, of course, Tigress was surprised by this, but she didn’t mind because she did miss him, too. And she’s probably been hugged by Po many times after the third movie (plus she also ran on all fours at the end just to hug him), so she’s used to it by now.

Made this a couple days before I saw Kung Fu Panda 4. This cover song is AWESOME. The movie itself is… well …. It’s… a movie.

Since we're close now to get KFP4 updates soon...hoping next month (or april) I wanna talk/discuss about something(s)

So I was re-watching all the 3 movies & the shorts I actually realized & noticed couple of things 

Since we all know Oogway in the third movie tells Po about how he saw the future of Kung Fu the day they met right? And we see both Po & Tigress in his vision right? 

Followed by Oogway passing the torch (which is the staff in this case) saying Po is his true successor

Firstly let me start of by saying I love Po okay? Besides being Oogway's successor Po is definitely Shifu's golden student by achieving the Dragon Warrior title and all BUT here's the big question. Does Po also deserve to become Shifu's successor? Yes BUT ALSO NO! Po has got enough titles & credits at this point. Besides Po there is also one more character that deserves at least one title & that is none other than TIGRESS!!!

TIGRESS (DESERVES) SHOULD BECOME SHIFU'S TRUE SUCCESSOR!!

Before anyone decides to attack me let me just point out couple of hints given in the movies itself why Tigress should have Shifu's true successor title

Shawls & Clothing pattern.

Remember the whole drama & discussion we all had & still having about Tigress outfit suddenly being changed? I think I might've figured that reason out too. Both Oogway & Shifu have a similar green shawls right? Which for some strange reason I always thought it was the same shawl just passed down to Shifu after Oogway's death. But turns out both have very different pattern design at the back of their shawls

And SURPRISE BEHOLD it actually matches Po & Tigress. Oogway has almost a Yin Yang pattern which is Po who represents Black & White warrior which Oogway himself tells Po that he represents both sides of yin & yang.

As for Shifu & Tigress's case its the floral & vine patterns. What does the floral & vine pattern has connection to do with Tigress? Well if you watch all the movies including the the shorts her vine patterns actually are representing 'growth'

You'll notice carefully you see no patterns on her vest when she was a kid PLUS also on the brown robe which she used to wear as a teen which also closely represents Shifu's way of dressing since Tigress was desperate to become just like Shifu

But once she finally decides to unleash her real true strength after ripping the robe you finally spot a sapling like pattern on her vest indicating & representing she's finally growing & is out of her shell which later one as she grows older you notice her vine patterns also keep growing & finally her golden hanfu also has a little Lilly/Lotus pattern fully bloomed representing Tigress is a fully grown warrior of her own. Plus the whole growth theme fits very well for both Shifu & Tigress since both have come out from their cold shells & are showing more warmer & compassion sides

Po & Tigress are literally the next Oogway & Shifu 

Even their relationships!!

Despite Shifu & Tigress both question Oogway’s & Po’s decisions or plans they still remain extremely loyal & trust their masters. 

Heck! Not to mention BOTH Shifu & Tigress has watched Oogway & Po (sorta) dying into petals!!

Okay let’s just say GOD FORBID Shifu’s time comes to end there’s 70% chances Tigress could get his staff since Po has already got Oogway’s special yin yang one. Plus it would actually mean a lot for Tigress & something really special to cherish. Not only it would mean Tigress being the next master of the Jade Palace but also a way of Shifu finally able to express his feelings to Tigress as a father since both Shifu & Tigress aren’t too good in expressing in openly about it. 

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DREAMWORKS GIVE US ONE GOOD HEART WARMING FATHER-DAUGHTER MOMENT BETWEEN SHIFU & TIGRESS! PLEASE I BEG YOU!!

Plus if you watch the third movie Shifu actually looks completely shocked not expecting Po to get gand looking staff from Oogway. There could be chances that Shifu may have thought of passing his current staff to Po but after seeing the staff given by Oogway himself to Po Shifu might change his mind to give to Tigress? Or at least I’m hoping!! 

Also Fun fact the original storyline for KFP3 besides Mr. Ping & Li Shan fighting over Po whether he should become a noodle master & run his goose dad’s restaurant or choosing becoming a farmer & returning back to secret panda village with his biological dad. Shifu was also included in the fatherly fight as he wanted Po to be the next master to run the Jade Palace but the idea was completely scraped off! So fingers crossed Tigress is in the line on getting to be master to run the Jade Palace since Po already has enough titles & responsibilities to handle as Dragon Warrior & a Teacher 

And lastly Po & Tigress both have grown as warriors under Shifu’s training & Oogway’s wisdom. They’re both are perfect balance 

In conclusion! There is still hope for Tigress to also play a very important role in the franchise & I am PRAYING EVERYDAY KFP4 does justice to the franchise!!

This February 16 is very special for me, because I am celebrating 20 years since I came into the world and less than a month before the premiere of Kung Fu Panda 4. This is why I wanted to make a blog about Kung Fu Panda, like this great saga. He has been present in my life and how did I meet the TYPE.

To begin with, when the first movie was released I remember being 4 years old.  They bought me a Tigress figure (at that time I didn't know she was a woman xd), a McDonald's figure and a special thermos.  A film that marked my childhood without a doubt, endearing characters, a villain that you come to empathize with, and of course an epic soundtrack.  I never got to see the Furious 5 and Christmas shorts until I was a little older.

For the second one I was already 7 years old, on the birthday of who was my best friend at that time we went to see her.  Like every child that year, she was scared when they showed the images of the panda genocide, but from then on she was enjoyable.  To this day, the scene in which Po seeks inner peace with his past and remembers how his mother sacrificed herself so that he could live continues to give me feelings.  Also, giving us who for me is the best villain of the saga, Lord Shen.  He had the movie in pirated mode and I remember that he played it almost always.  I saw the short film Secrets of the Masters a few years later, an interesting story and it retains the voice actors from the films.

From 2011-2016 I lost interest in the saga.  The Nickeledeon series never hooked me, I saw the shorts a long time after their premiere.  But around 2014 or 2015 was where I met the GUY.  Honestly, at that moment it was something very strange for me that duo, but after several videos and having read a few fanfics, I came to like them a lot.  I had an Xbox 360 Kinect, where we bought the official video game.  However, I never got around to playing it because it was too difficult for me.

Already in the third one, when I was 12 years old, I went to see it with my brother on a classmate's birthday.  Although she wasn't bad, it wasn't what I expected, I feel like they could have improved a lot.  Kai was a decent villain on par with Tai Lung and Shen, but the rhythm and essence of this one felt very childish compared to its predecessors, a point to highlight in this one was the concept of Chi which at that time was new to my.  From this point was where my interest in TYPE began to grow more and became one of my biggest obsessions to this day XD.

At that time I explored and saw many artists who drew this ship.  If I remember correctly, one of the first was from Tigress and Po's children who were a panda and a white tiger named Hana or something like that, back in 2016 it was where I saw @ani-dragmire's drawings for the first time, @masterlan12 and @7oy7iger (although at that time Lan made another ship).  Without a doubt three great cartoonists with whom I have been able to talk on a couple of occasions.

When the Paws of Destiny series came out I had very high expectations (although I didn't have prime video at that time) but I ended up somewhat disappointed by the final result and the absence of the Furious 5.  Although, it has redeeming things such as the 4 constellations (I had already heard of these mythological creatures but in Japanese folklore) and Po's perception of Tigress as a friend and great warrior.  2022 was a heavy year, my entry into university and the news that an upcoming movie about our beloved panda was very close and that it would bring back the 3 previous villains of the saga, I was more than excited.

However, that same year, what for me and a large part of the fandom was released was a great lack of respect for Kung Fu Panda.  The Netflix series, my first mistake was thinking about the return of Jack Black as Po.  I remember that that year was one of the lowest in terms of quality of movies, series, video games and so on.  The idea of ​​getting to know the rest of the world outside of China in the lore of Kung Fu Panda was what blinded me from the nonsense I would see.  Po being clumsy and crouching in front of a hateful and empowered bear.  The worst of all was that I watched all three seasons on Netflix.

By December of last year I saw the first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4, although it was exciting to see Tai Lung back (probably in a redemption arc) I must say that it was somewhat disappointing not to see the Furious 5.  At the time of writing this I am hoping to see Shen and Kai in a future trailer.

For me, Kung Fu Panda is not a simple saga of movies made for children, it is a saga that shows the evolution of a martial arts fan on the path to being the most legendary warrior in China.  Although it is not the best like the Shrek or How to Train Your Dragon sagas, it is one of the most beloved.  If there is something I admire about Po, it is how despite having a painful past, being rejected at the beginning, perhaps not being what Shifu expects of him.  Po never gives up and always maintains a warm smile and an optimistic attitude, kind of like Peter Parker.  And well, this is all for now, I say goodbye to you.

Kung Fu Panda Series Observation/Theories: Peach Tree symbolism🍑

Hi all! I feel like the majority of the fandom-pandom for kfp is losing their s$&ts from the trailer released for the fourth film; respectively, I also agree and am currently obsessing over ANY details from the clips released! (I know what the wiki page says about the Furious 5 only having a BRIEF MOMENT but please dreamworks, just bring those beautiful babes back and don’t forgot about them!👏)

Anyway, here’s some observation points I’m noticing and then drawing possible theories, just to help ease my brain from any hurt that may be to come from the movie released next year😭

*Basically, it’s all about the Peach Tree*

FYI: I will predominantly be referencing my notes from the FILMS and not the short films/separate series since I don’t know much about those films. The ONLY one I will be referencing is from “Secrets of the Scroll” since the Peach Tree is heavily symbolized (and I live for Tigress content🐯).

1st pic] Coming from the kfp4 trailer, this beautiful ass Peach Tree of Heavenly Wisdom is prospering for who knows how long this franchise (and turtle man’s death) occurred. Big thing to note is not only the tree itself, but the tiny tree located to the left of Po. I believe that’s the same tree from the first movie, where Shifu and Oogway would plant a new sapling during their conversation about angry boi and sh$&ting on how useless Po is to them🥲

*sidenote: from the trailer, there is a scene where Po is watching the blossoms move in the wind. This did remind me of Oogway’s passing from the first film so whether a ‘change/transition’ could occur is something to consider. Also, I don’t know if that scene takes place at the beginning, middle or end of the forth movie so hopefully more content will be released soon😊👏

2nd pic] The second picture below references this idea— furthermore, from the wiki page, Oogway replanted the peach sapling (the one where Master Master took his feelings out on the tree and a seed fell down), in order to represent how using effective teaching methods towards Po will not only help the panda learn Kung-Fu but also be able to defeat Tai Lung. Congrats then to Shifu for taking the turtle’s advice because now we are getting a fourth film (and all the separate shorts too).

Also from the 1st movie, when Oogway is meditating (before Shifu f$&n interrupts his yoga session) the Peach Tree is actively losing its petals, and then WE ARE TREATED TO THE BEAUTY AND HEARTACHE OF OOGWAY’S DEATH IN ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC CINEMATIC MASTERPIECES OF ALL TIME!!!🪦 So, tree loses petals= loss, death of something? Towards the end of kfp1, the tree starts getting its petals back= rebirth, growth, gain???

Ok, so our beautiful tiger girl is given some much needed spotlight in this short; followed by some emotional damage and teenage issues (like having to fight a boar, prove your worth to your adoptive red panda father, etc…) And, there is the one scene that basically mimics Oogway’s talk with Po (except its grandpa and granddaughter.)

Tigress, as a teenager just got s$&t on by Shifu for getting the wrong group of people to fight pig man (thus Furious Five was born.) She takes some therapeutic, albeit depressive-episode moment time by Peach Tree till Oogway joins her and gives some loving advice: screw dad and prove your worth to yourself👍👍

We then get treated to a beautiful, strong independent woman and her comrades for future films! My note from this pic is that the blossoms are not gone (unlike Oogway’s deathbed scene), so this could also symbolize growth, aspiration, understanding your self-worth (like Po’s from first movie- 4th pic)

Notes about Peach and Peach Blossom symbolism in China🍑

. “Also known as “Fairy Fruit”, all of its parts are used in Chinese traditional medicine as a cure for several diseases…” ( located under PEACHES category, website, 12/29/2023, https://www.nonsolobacchette.com/post/the-hidden-meaning-of-peaches-in-chinese-art )

. Also from same article, the peach has been associated with immortality and longevity (could explain why Oogway’s lived for such a long ass time too, apart from the fact he’s also a turtle.)

. Good fortune is another symbol for the peach (considering the luck Po has got, maybe those peaches were watching after him!)

Peach blossom trees also represent longevity: they bloom in March and represents spring.

And, DA DA DA….. peach blossoms also symbolizes love!❤️ From the article, since the trees bloom in March, that’s a prime time for weddings to occur (hm, wonder what that could mean .. cough cough 🐼🐯)!!!! Could also be just general love for friends, family too.

Anyway these were just some notes and observations I saw from the trailer. Truthfully, Dreamworks may be watching the fandom from afar or completely ignoring us but I do hope that the forth film won’t destroy all the beauty and intelligence that the franchise had carried before (especially with the first two films.)
