i feel bad for raquel lee bolleau and i feel like what she's saying about the lack of transparency behind quiet on set is a bigger issue that the consumers of this type of content don't want to talk about or criticize. social media has led to a huge boom in tragedy porn and trauma porn about the entertainment industry but especially the children's entertainment industry, especially especially from the eras when the largest demographic in that audience were consuming it themselves.

it's already been problematic in itself that there is an oversaturation of unresearched and repetitive videos on the exploitation of former child stars. it seems like the creators and audience don't often ask themselves "have we gotten enough of this? do we need another take on it? is another video full of dan schneider rumors and gossipy forum posts really adding to the public discourse?" i don't know quite at what point it becomes exploitative that this content continues to be made, and be evergreen in social media algorithms. the volume, the reach, and the general lack of quality control are the evil triad. because we are far past the point where i really believe everyone consuming this stuff cares about exploited children. there's far too many people gawking and not reevaluating the systems of power involved. or, to put it more concretely: how many times do we all need to watch those clips of ariana grande squeezing the potato and spilling water on her neck? at what point is this just personally disrespectful and retraumatizing for the victims that for the most part we, the consumers of internet content, are claiming to advocate for?

quiet on set is the first time traditional media got involved in this niche. there is still a lot of value in some of the discoveries made by the series. but it does not have completely clean hands in this either. it does not feel like everyone involved in making the executive decisions cared nearly enough about the vulnerability of former child stars they recruited to share their stories, or hell, whose stories were told without their involvement, such as amanda bynes and racquel in episode 5. these people did not even give statements.

the focus of this docuseries was far too broad and not coherent enough at the end of the day. and they did not give enough support to all of the people they roped in to tell their stories about childhood trauma. i have a hard time trying not to be completely cynical about its whole production, because i really want to believe that many of the people who worked on it do care. not every individual involved knew or had control over the injustices that happened in its own production. but the executives? fuck em. they greenlit this thing, and probably incentivized the creators to make these episodes as fast as possible, because they knew it would be a cash cow. something as sensitive as THIS series should not be so poorly produced just because it will be a guaranteed smash.

getting intense joy from painting my nails wasn’t an expected outcome of my day but it is definitely a welcome one!

While Vox Machina’s return is as incredible as it is daunting, we as a community cannot forget who we are dealing with. These characters are more than legendary heroes and beyond powerful beings. At their core, they are still the idiots we remember.

Yes they are older. Yes they have more responsibilities and duties to fulfill. Yes they will all likely be played by Matt. None of that changes the fact that the spark of life and laughter was built into these characters, and removing that joy, that kindness from them, is removing a large piece of who they are.

We may not see them fumble or tell a joke, but that doesn’t mean things have changed. We are just seeing things from an outsiders perspective. Vox Machina isn’t cruel. They are trying their best to do the right thing. I doubt that even in the 30 years of time passed, that has changed at all. Have faith.

in an unexpected turn of events i'm having to edit down the content in my aubrey monologues so that i can actually fit all four of them in my final performance for my standup class and on the one hand it sucks bc i really love some of the jokes i have to cut but on the other hand someday i'll be able to write more monologues and possibly expand upon this cut material so i can get a whole monologue on a topic that would've just been an aside

#the actual standups in my class who have only ever done a tight five having to stretch their new material to fit the 20 minute final #vs me‚ an extremely extra fag who's used to writing full-length scripts‚ realizing the 3 monologues i've timed already add up to 20 min #and i'm working on a fourth one that works better as an opener than any of the existing pieces so it has to get in #(it'll be short tho i'm making sure of it. it's just like ''here's some material about aubrey's relationship to zir mom!'') #(then immediate segue into the uncle reg bit) #got the catcalling monologue down to 5 minutes and 30 seconds when the first draft was nine minutes #(tbh i'm fine with most of those cuts i think they were mostly filler) #(there's a bit about androgyny that i liked that i cut but tbh it doesn't work as just one paragraph it needs more nuance) #the uncle reg monologue is having the ''dumped at the pride parade'' thing trimmed down which is funny bc that was the original premise #tbh i could probably stretch my toronto pride material ft. uncle reg to a full 20 minutes bc the first stream of consciousness was so long #i wrote it right after i myself got back from toronto pride and tbh i actually wrote it as the outline for a sitcom episode #so the monologue version is very reduced down bc there were so many details that didn't fit in #and i'm realizing the material about the person who dumped aubrey should be its own monologue that i'll do another time #and maybe even add in the rest of the sitcom-style story at some point bc tbh that's some of my favorite aubrey material i've come up with #and the cishetman monologue is getting the intro part about facetime trimmed a bit bc it meanders #and the ''sugar and spice and everything nice'' joke is being cut even tho i like it bc i actually have a ton more material in my notebook #that's just me riffing on how weird those expressions are. and the material isn't polished but i could make it something later #the song isn't being trimmed bc it has a very specific run time and imo is the strongest. so that's my closer #anyway thank you to everyone reading my aubrey updates i'll be sure to post the final 20-minute-special on youtube #and i hope i get to do more monologues soon so i can put the other ideas mentioned here (as well as some i haven't) out into the world

i remember hearing that the writers for the sonic boom tv show said that shadow was a very difficult character to write because sega is so picky about how he should be portrayed and thats why they saved him for season finale episodes only. so he could still be in the show but they wouldnt have to go back and forth with sega about what they can and cant do with him as much as they would have if he was a main character. anyway maybe thats part of the reason theres no alternate shadows in sonic prime. because sega was annoying about it and the writers didnt feel like dealing with it lmao

#but then again part of what made it so hard i think is because sonic boom was a comedy show and sega didnt think #shadow should be a very funny character? or something like that? and while sonic prime does have its jokey moments #comedy isnt the main focus unlike sonic boom #so maybe it would be easier to get a lot of shadow screentime in sonic prime than it would be in sonic boom #and they planned for there to be no alternate shadows from the start? idk im just saying stuff #personally i dont really like the way shadow is written in sonic boom. like some of the jokes involving him are funny but #overall. that is NOT my friend shadow the hedgehog #so im hoping if the next sonic prime episodes have more shadow than the first batch #then he is Nothing like he was in sonic boom #currently i am still on the fence about prime shadow. like they at least gave him a reason to be mad this time #instead of just having him fight with sonic all the time for no reason. which is a good start. but im still unsure #since hes had so little screentime so far #and they also pulled the ''put shadow in a bunch of the promotional stuff only for him to barely be there at all'' thing Again #but. to be fair. we're only on episode 8 out of what. 24? theres plenty more time for him to make more appearances #see i am also very picky about how shadow should be portrayed but me and whoever is in charge of him rn have very different ideas #of what the Right portrayal of shadow is #so while shadow is one of my favorite characters. whenever i see hes gonna be in some new thing #im more concerned about if theyre gonna fuck everything up again than i am excited to see him

Watched this episode who knows how many times. I know exactly what would happen. But it sure is the first time I've watched this episode since several major deaths in my life.

s11 and what i've seen of s12 have been so interesting to me..... something changed but i can't articulate what and why and how my taste and my preferences and my expectations affect the way i think about these later seasons

#new writers? something in the air? it's just different #not BAD it's just. there's a kind of‚ i wanna say cheesiness or something about s11 that i didn't expect #there are moments that i really really loved and some i was just repulsed by in a different way than ever before? #there's also the quality of the production i think but that's whatever. like it's not the same show because it can't be. right #but um before s11 i don't think i've felt that that sunny was gimmicky. the schemes and hijinks and stuff felt organic in a way #oh i did feel kind of weird about (dissatisfied with?) some parts of frank reynolds' little beauties for example but it never felt like #that was overpowering the comedy and the fun #NO sitcom is consistently funny or consistently delivers the type of humor You personally like #there are episodes i don't love in my favorite seasons too #i don't know i guess i just thought s11 was more interesting (from the character side of things) than it was funny #but then again i did think the last three episodes were also just funny #and then with s12‚ which i've seen half of lol. it's weeeird as well #because i do love it but some of it made me cringe hard but some of it was so earnest and so fun i was grinning uncontrollably #but i'll see what i think at the end.. and after a full rewatch #which IS going to happen. so #you know. #kata.txt #iasip

Ezekiel should be dead #i think if the season had been 26 episodes it would have given more time to get used to the characters #i don't get why it wasn't #like i thought when i heard that it was because All Stars was produced as the second half of season 4 #but it wasnt! it was produced as the first half of season 5! #which makes less sense because why would you producers all stars as the first half of a season if you're planning on introducing a new cast #that you could add to all stars in the back half #Pahkitew should be Switched with All Stars what happened #why does revenge only have 13 episodes #even like 2-4 extras would have helped the season a lot #and i know that's not how they green light things #but its not like they were trying to reach syndication anymore they had already got there with Action #if Revenge had been 26 episodes they would have been able to package it and World Tour together for syndication #i dont understand the buisness decisions here

ive stopped paying attention, does the pokemon anime fandom still insist that the anime version of xy was far more mature and adult than the game version? bc that was funny. the anime couldnt even handle az’s plotline and had to write team flare without him being involved

#‘’xy anime was for an adult audience but the game is for babies’’ one of these has az and the other doesnt #echoed voice #i doubt ppl still insist on that now that sm is more popular #and i think people are less vitriolic towards gen 6 now than they were which i think was a part of this #theres also some subtle stuff that isnt Really important but still notable to me #in the games the scary house is a scam that the protag and their friends scoff at #and its just a small bonding event w the rivals and theres some ambiguity to anything supernatural there #and the creepy factor is still fulfilled w the lumiose ghost girl #meanwhile in the anime the scary house IS haunted and not a scam and an entire fiasco #which isnt a bad thing! i actually really liked the episode and thought it was really fun to be clear #but like the game version felt a bit more down to earth and i personally like that. some grounded stuff in a supernatural world #im not saying the xy games are super adult masterpieces that no one gives any credit and xy anime is a baby show w no mature themes #bc neither of those is true and i wont pretend that they are but like. lol it was stupid #that being said i do think people dont give xy enough credit. its very very flawed yeah and nowhere near my favorite gen #but hell. i had a lot more fun w it than most gen 7/8 stuff outside legends and sm
