Palia enjoyers, hear me out for a second...
Wouldn't it be cute if we also could send letters to the villagers?
Like, think about it! Being able to go to our mailbox, selecting a villager, selecting a type of letter and then receiving some type of reply the next day!
Choosing between different types of letters; "Send thoughtful Letter to...", "Send Love Letter to...", "Send Encouraging Letter to..." etc etc!
The options & replies you receive possibly changing across different friendship & romance levels...I just think it would be cute.
Thoughts?

Hey Palia! Can we add a feature where after you've already begun romancing a character, any flowers you give them are considered romantic gifts?
I just know Reth would love some Sun Lilies! And Hassian would blush like crazy to get a Crystal Lake Lotus! Please! I just wanna show my guys how much I love them and there's only so much chocolate they can take!

hey if you want to try a FREE-to-play cozy game (with no pay-to-win or gacha scams) that’s like a mix between Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and a lil bit of BotW/TotK for PC and switch, you should play Palia. It’s an mmo so you can play with your friends and cook, fish, collect bugs, etc together!
should note:
they just released a lunar new year festival update, like, yesterday. I haven’t even gotten the chance to play it yet!
the game IS in open beta, so it can be buggy sometimes. But the glitches are usually pretty funny and again, it is a free game, so I can’t really complain
you can be poly
you can romance a robot
the community is very friendly, if there’s a rare node people usually call it out in the chat and wait for everyone to arrive before taking it.
if you make an account using my referral code you get a fruit basket welcome gift 🤭

COZY GAMES ARE MEANT TO BE A LITTLE DARK
I keep getting videos on YouTube that talk about how cozy games are secretly not cozy because they have dark elements to them like the war in Stardew.
Apparently this is somehow meant to ruin the coziness? I hate to break it to you but THATS THE POINT.
These games do not exist in a cozy vacuum where nothing bad happens ever. That would frankly be a terrible game and an even worse story. Cozy games are not cozy in SPITE of their dark elements they are cozy BECAUSE of them.
In Stardew yes there's a war, and people have dysfunctional relationships and that's the point! you're in a shitty town living on a shitty farm but you're there to help. you make friendships, and you fix your farm, and you leave the town a little better than when you found it.
In Palia you're living under an oppressive government and everyone has lots of problems. Some people are just struggling to be a single parent, others are on the run from a cartel. It's not light and cheery! but you get to help these people as you work to find your place in the world. I could go on for hours about other games but I think these examples are enough to drive home what I'm going to say next. COZY GAMES ARE ABOUT COMMUNITY, LOVE, AND FRIENDSHIP.
You don't expect your real life friends and communities to be conflict free. Bonds are built on the back of hardship. Lifting each other up. Loving each other and being kind when things are hard.
villagers in both games give me advice on how to do what I need to so I can fix up my property and start life in their town, They send me gifts they think will help with my projects. And in turn I give them a relationship they need. I'm an understanding friend for Linus, or an open ear for Najuma.
WE SUPPORT EACHOTHER IN HARD TIMES.

Reasons to play Palia:
Cozy, gentle farming/village sim a bit like a combination of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, but online.
Most of the villagers are romanceable if you're into that. Either way they all have backstories that you learn by befriending them.
One time I went fishing and pulled up a charcuterie.
There's robots. One of them is romanceable because the fanbase demanded it in alpha.
You can't pet the dog but you can talk to him:

The fishing and bug catching systems are unique and fun.
When people find a rare/special resource like a Flow tree or palium ore, they'll call over zone chat to tell people where it is because everyone that hits a resource node will get the same reward no matter how many people are on it.
Crabs count as bugs so you can catch them!
Tumblr media
Sifuu sent me a brick in the mail.
Cat people come from the moon, allegedly. Which moon? Probably the one that isn't on fire.
Concerned about too many people stripping the resources? The game is instanced and each instance only has a handful of players at a time. Even if they're all mining, or chopping trees, the nodes respawn fast enough to compensate. Plants and other things on the ground are not shared, so grab all those you want.
You can hunt for meat and leather, and there are a variety of animals that require different methods. Some of them teleport or clone themselves.
Speaking of hunting, you do so with a bow, and there's no blood or dead body. Bagged animals literally disappear and leave behind a bag which you loot.
You can climb and glide kind of like Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The housing system is pretty robust, almost like WildStar. You start with a tent and then get a house which you can add rooms to. You can find, buy, and craft furnishing and sometimes villagers will gift them to you.
There's no HP and no penalty for falling, so feel free to yeet yourself from high places in order to explore!
