Junelezen 28-Family
Family wasn't defined by who birthed him. Family was not cold-eyes and absent warmth, by blithe profiteers off of of a young child's indignity and shame. Family wasn't the ones who had shown him that the only thing in life worth relying on was oneself.
They had found him a dead man on the other side of the world, and placed themself between him and a sure end. They were the ones who had welcomed him even has he healed from wounds that would never truly mend. Family was here, now. And never had it felt realer than this.

Who is your OCs most unlikely friend? What made their friendship so unexpected?
Hihi again, Mimble! ♥♥ Thank you again for this ask! I'm slightly less late on answering this one, but late nonetheless. ; w ; /
Winter Greenery OC Questions

Estinien's too obvious an answer with a lot of things I've written or answered as to kind of how that ended up developing.
So!
I think maybe Papalymo, actually. He was abrasive and pretty no-nonsense when it came to speaking with Nomin at length about things that were ahead of them (in general). I think after learning, though, that he has years of experience under his belt, and kind of seeing his relationship and patience with "Yda" kind of softened Nomin to the idea of opening up to him.
In my head, since I haven't super fleshed out their relationship (working more on Nomin's life on the Steppe before she comes to Eorzea, so it's all rough ideas at the moment), I see her seeking him out as someone who is older and has more to offer in terms of life experience. Kind of like a mentor-like figure.

I think Gosetsu is Very Autistic which explains (but does not excuse) some of his Racisms but it also means I think it doesn't quite click to him that Eve and Cyn being sisters makes Eve culturally Xalea so they all get to the steppe and he's just like "We can learn together!" and Eve's just "....are you joking" but in an amused way

FFXIV Write Day 8 - Tepid
In which tastes are judged.
This one features Aurelia, another member of the company, and one I haven’t written for yet! All you really need to know about her here is that she’s a student at Sharlayan and studying for her archon mark. She also has a metal arm! (And a metal leg. And another metal leg. But who’s counting, really.)
- - -
Tepid
    /ˈtepəd/
        Adj.
the state of being slightly warm, lukewarm
Showing little enthusiasm
Ex. “The tea had been sitting out long enough for it to become tepid.”
---
The members of the Bluebell Company rarely had enough time to come together for extended periods of time nowadays; what with Aurelia’s return to Sharlayan to submit her thesis and Zhra’li’s return to sneaking and fishing up what information on the Garlean situation he could, both left the others for extended periods of time. Couple that with Campanula’s dreaded paperwork battle with the remnants of the Dragoon Order, Kikyo’s nursing back to health from her extended stay in the First, and Eris’s Warrior of Light duties, and it was a small miracle that the five of them were ever in the same city, let alone close enough to be in the same room for any length of time.
Miracles, however, were still just percent chances, as Aurelia liked to point out whenever the topic came up. No matter how impossible something seemed, it never was strictly so. Things were improbable, certainly, but impossible? That was, well, impossible. No matter how unlikely it was for a karakul to appear from the sky to hit you on the head, it was never a 0 percent chance.
Eris hummed to herself thinking of those words as she walked her way up the stairs to the small cafe that overlooked the Lominsian beach. Balancing between her hands was a tea tray nearly overflowing in beverage paraphernalia; so much so that it was a small wonder that the tray didn’t collapse under the weight. Spoons, teacups, small bowls of sugar and cream, a steaming hot kettle with equally hot water and various other goods in all shapes and sizes shook and rattled as Eris finally made her way to the wooden doors of their private room.
It wasn’t easy to get a table here, let alone a private room, but she had pulled some strings (and perhaps had thrown around her title for a less noble purpose, but she figured that saving the world would permit this one act of selfishness of renting a room for a bell or two). Kicking the heavy door open as gently as she could manage and slipping in just as it closed behind her she called out, “Coming in!
A pair of hands shot out and took the tray from her before she could say anything else. The au ra smiled as she watched Zhra’li place the poor groaning tray onto a low table, deft hands already passing out saucers and cups to the other three members in the room. “Thank you, Zhra.” She settled down next to him and took a cup of her own, a small pale yellow thing with several small moogles dancing around the rim.
“Naturally.” Giving her a boyish grin, Zhra’li took the last cup left on the tray for himself and sprawled out on one of the many plush cushions scattered around the room. His cup was a large, plain navy one of a mug variety. Grabbing the kettle, Eris asked what would later be looked back on as the instigating question.
“What would you all like to drink?”
“Coffee, naturally.”
“Tea, if you please.”
“Beausgreitt, and hold the sugar.”
Three responses shot out almost immediately, and the reactions even quicker.  Zhra’li’s face was scrunched up, as if he had smelled something particularly nasty, while Campanula’s puckered. Aurelia meanwhile made a noise somewhere between a cough and a particularly nasty bowel movement.
Out of the three of them, it was Zhra’li who regained his wits the fastest. “Ah yes, yes, the Ishgardian likes his tea. Why am I not surprised? Why in hell's name would anyone want to drink tea? Do I look like I want to be anywhere near your limp leaf juice that barely tastes like anything when coffee is right there?”
The viera’s eyebrows shot up accusingly. “I apologize, I did not realize a drink made out of beans was any better than one made out of leaves.” He scoffed. “Though I am not surprised you like coffee, Zhra’li. Black, too, because you’re compensating. You’d need it to taste much of anything I imagine. I highly doubt someone like you could appreciate the innate intricacies of tea leaves.”
“I can intricate just fine, thank you! And don’t come to me with that leaf bullshite, coffee has just as many variations as tea, if not more! AND I take it with two sugars, thank you very much.” Ears were now beginning to swivel aggressively as Zhra’li’s head turned toward the hyurian woman. “And what in Thal’s name is Beausgreitt?! A reagent?”
“The only thing you’ll drink if you have any love for yourself, that’s what.” The Garlean native crossed her arms in disgust. “Coffee? Tea? Neither of them come even close to the amount of caffeine that Beausgreitt has. You’d need to drink at least 3 or 4 cups to get the same effect. Also,” She grabbed a nearby plush pillow and began to shake it, continuing her rant. “The nutritional value of coffee and tea pale in comparison. Not only do you get more energy out of it, but nearly an entire meal’s worth of protein, carbs, and fats. All without the hassle of cooking or dishes afterwards.”
“It also,” Campanula’s face had turned a funny shade of green, a rather striking similarity to his own teacup with its scalloped edges. “Completely disgusting, in every way, shape and form. How you can just dunk an unnaturally saturated blue powder into your water and have it thicken and then drink it willingly is beyond me. It rivals even archon loaf in taste and texture. Which is saying quite a bit.”
Aurelia shrugged. “Not my problem you’re not mentally strong enough to down the stuff. I, unlike you, have shite to do. Things to see, papers to write.” She pointed her cup at the miqo’te in the room, metal fingers clinking against the porcelain. “And also not my problem that you’ve got no taste.”
Zhra’li let out a snort at that. “Quite amusing, coming from the woman who drowns her food in sauces. I swear half of the dishes I see you make for yourself are part soup with all the liquid running around it. It’s a miracle you have any food to chew on. Makes sense that you’d go all the way and drink some nasty hells-derived concoction that looks as though you churned a neon green lalafell into mush.”
“Brave words, coming from the man that covers his shite in every spice under the sun.” The Sharlayan scholar retaliated. “Every time I walk into the kitchen when YOU’RE cooking I start tearing up from the amount of peperine that you’ve saturated the air with.”
“At least its food, and not some powdered voidsent sent straight from the 13th!”
“Both of your foods are horrendous-” Campanula began, before he was immediately shut down in unison.
“Silence, non-seasoner-”
“Says the man who thinks seasoning his food means licking from the communal salt rock-”
“All of you, enough!” Eris cried out in exasperation, but the damage had already been done. The bickering had only escalated, insults of the ad hominem kind hurling in every which direction as the three members of the Company began to argue amongst themselves. And then a pillow had been flung, by who was anyone’s guess, and Eris could only watch on helplessly as the squabble turned into a full on pillow match of the century, voices climbing higher and loud enough to get a few strange looks from the people walking by the beach.
Kikyo, who had wisely decided to not mention her preferred tastes at the beginning of the whole debacle, simply sipped from her dull green teacup and gave Eris a sympathetic look. “Better go and put another kettle on, dear. I believe this water’s gone cold.”
