Ninge Subaru | 昴ニンゲ

Ninge is a 13 year old (16 in Shippuden) shinobi from Konohagakure and the child of Sunagakure immigrants Misa and Yūsei Subaru. Their mother Misa was the Kazekage's younger sister, and upon hearing she was expecting, tried to convince her to allow Ninge to become the next jinchuriki of Shukaku, something that Misa as well as Yūsei were vehemently against. The tension and fights got bad enough to where the couple had to flee Sunagakure and plead for asylum in Konohagakure.

This peace in Konoha doesn't last for long though, as in early childhood Ninge's parents are brutally murdered in an incident that they are unfortunately a witness to. The young child was unable to speak for a few months and when they could speak again, they had no memory what they had witnessed, or who had did it. This event was seen as one of many in a series of unfortunate events to happen to the village of Konoha over a short period of time, alongside the arson of the Kamiya clan's shrine, the disappearance of Hibana Uchiha, and to top it off, the genocide of the Uchiha clan. While many suspect Kazekage Rasa and/or Sunagakure was somehow behind this, no concrete evidence that has been made public as to whether or not this was a possibility.

At age 12, they are put onto a squad with fellow classmates Hotaru and Yuno, and the three don't really get on at first, feeling as if they were only shoved together due to being the "difficult" kids. Ninge, despite being a great strategist, tends to slack when it comes to putting in effort. There's nothing Ninge can't stand worse than a lecture or having to sit down and learn something, they're the type who learns far better hands on, and likes to be thrust into action. They are very good at reading body language and pinpointing physical weak spots. When they qualify for the chunin exams, Ninge is both celebratory but fearful, given it will be taking place in Sunagakure. But with encouragement, they go with their team to the exams and end up being one of the only genin promoted up in rank.

Unfortunately, this win causes upheaval within the squad, and Yuno, seeking out strength, is lured by rogue shinobi Sayato Yasuda into joining Otogakure. For the next few years, Ninge is laser-focused on getting Yuno back to the Leaf, devoting their life to the cause and joining in on Naruto's efforts to rescue his friend Sasuke from the same ordeal.

Eventually, Yuno and Ninge face off against each other and shortly after, Yuno leaves of his own accord to come back to the village, albeit on the heels of a war starting shortly thereafter. After the war, Ninge continues being a shinobi and when Naruto finally becomes Hokage, is there to serve as one of his advisors.

Ninge is nonbinary. As a child, they use she/they begrudgingly. In their later teens (Shippuden era) they use he/they and feel more comfortable with their identity. This bio is written with entirely they pronouns for hopeful simplicity! Ninge's birthday is May 31st, their blood type is A-, and they are 5'0.

thinking about the dynamic between wei wuxian and wen ning where they are neither platonic nor romantic but a secret third thing. as close as only someone who died and someone who summoned them back could be. familiar like a body part is familiar. physically intimate, but in a "held him while his stomach was cut open to carve the golden core out" or "put his ribs back into his broken chest and gave his body permission to take revenge" way. sharing a bond so deep it becomes unsettling. wielding someone like a weapon/allowing yourself to be wielded. saving each other over and over again to the point where you can't keep track of all the sacrifices and the debts don't matter anymore. suffering from wounds no one else can understand, missing people no one else remembers. neither of them chose this, yet both are still there for each other no matter what. i am so normal about them
