Note
Scott/Jean, Scott/Logan and Logan/Jean for the ship bingo :D
Tumblr media
You will note none of these have the aesthetic box checked, because none of these are particularly compelling on a visual level to me- nevertheless they make me COMPLETELY INSANE ♥️
Scott/Jean
MI AMORS. The only conflicting factor is that 90% of my favorite Scott/Jean moments that had me frothing at the mouth when I first read them have been retconned to be between Scott and the Phoenix Force so that's awkward lmao but no, they're SO GOOD, I love them so much, they compliment each other really well and they are SO SO MESSY GOD BLESS like I can't explain it, I love them both as sugar sweet OTP babies and as messy twice divorced middle aged disasters, I love them best at their relationships extremes and they have been through SO MUCH together, not to mention they canonically have sooooo muchhhh of the weird cringe shit I love in OTPs (telepathic bonds! mutual pining! dying for the one you love! killing the one you love!) Scean is good good shit, but I have not found a lot of good good Scean fiction (though I have found some!) and have been tragically underinspired to write some myself... Maybe someday. Anyways, I love them ♥️
Scott/Logan
MI OTRO AMORS ♥️. It genuinely took me a while to get into this ship- for a long while I literally only read it because Scott was my fave and I was DESPERATE for Scott centric stories. I fell in love with them as the inverse of Scean- if Scean is rooted in the characters closeness and the drama comes from division, Scogan sets them as diametrically opposed and the catharsis comes in the moments when they see they're more alike then they are different. The Scean moment that had me running around showing shitty scans to everyone I knew was the Plateau Sex Scene (the layers!! The trust!! The vulnerability!!) and, by contrast, the Scogan moment that straight up converted me, werewolf style, from begrudgingly reading Scogan for lack of anything better to read to frothing at the mouth and howling at the moon that I SHIP IT was the epilogue of AvX when Scott asked Logan to murder him (THE LAYERS!! THE TRUST!! THE VULNERABILITY!!!!!!) God it genuinely makes me insane. He knew he was going to die and wanted it to be done by someone who cared!! I'm literally nauseous just thinking about it! They make me sick, I love them! So yeah, Scogan has a lot of shit I find uncompelling- the bullying is obnoxious, I hate when Scott is written as a stick to make Logan cool, I also hate when their relationship is flattened to make it more conventionally shippy- but what IS compelling makes me want to walk into the sea and I LONG for a comic arc to truly Go There with these two and give us the deranged canon relationship we all deserve to bear witness to
Jean/Logan
The thing with Jean/Logan is- I get it. I truly do- both from the Doylist perspective of why others might ship them, and from the Watsonian understanding of why the characters are attracted to each other. That mutual attraction and the conflict around it is an important part of their dynamics, I would not do away with it! But it is lacking that je ne c'est quoi, except I can c'est quoi, because that's Scott. Like, without Scott there, it's just generic romance novel dynamics to me, which I get and think interesting stories could be told around, but is just not for me dawg. I also really like fics where Jean and Logan have settled into a platonic relationship, knowing they'll never act on their attraction, and some of the other axes they align on can be explored.
I realized I just said I only like Jean/Logan when they're actively cucking Scott and am laughing at myself because that's ridiculous, but it's true. They need to reenact that Erica Moen comic or nothing baybee 🤣 Slightly more charitable is just admitting these three have been my trash OT3 since age 12 when I watched the movies and I can't imagine Jean/Logan apart from that, but I'll stick to laughing at myself

Fic Writer Questions
I was tagged by @mcfiddlestan so yay! Fic-y question thingies.
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
57. About to be more than that, though, because I'm working on several next parts to several series, and I assume they count that as individual works.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
324,681. Again, that's about to go up several times.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Well, that gets fun because what I have on AO3 is mostly Marvel-related with one tiny Hannibal ficlet, one Bill and Ted, one M*A*S*H (that was by request and likely will never be a repeated fandom as much as I love the show), one Zohra Greenhalgh (Contrarywise and Trickster's Touch). Now, what I've written in the past as a fandom was Jay and Silent Bob, and that will NEVER happen again. But yeah, mostly it's Marvel and mostly these days Avengers-related with some X-Men still thrown in for flavor.
4) What are your Top 5 fics by kudos?
Hey Jealousy 378
Far away you were made in a sea just like me 354
(Mis)Understanding and a No-Good Woman 300
Saving the Future...Again 294
Supernaut 283
Yeah, I'm not that popular.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I respond to all comments I get. I know that for some people it takes a lot of guts to comment, and I think that needs to be acknowledged, even if it's a simple thanks.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don't write a lot of angst, and usually by the end of a fic, I prefer to have it happy and not angsty. That said, I'd have to say that it's a toss-up between these small fics:
I know you’ll be a star In somebody else’s sky
Seemed like he knew me, he looked right through me
All the losing and the knowing
Sunset
Time After Time
I have angst in my stories. Some. They mostly seem to be sass and humor and romance and cuddles and sex and making out, but the angst is only a tool to keep the characters fighting and on their toes.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
I've got several series going now, so I won't count them in since technically, none of them have ended yet. I thought about putting that Never Piss Off a Telepath; Or How Logan Opened His Mouth and Said a Stupid Thing just because that's one of my funniest fics, I think, but I would have to say that the happiest ending may be in Two Turtle Doves, which is a Charles Xavier and Raven Darkholme as children/brother and sister at Christmas fic, and the ending still really makes me smile a lot when I re-read it.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't yet, technically. I started an X-Men/Avengers/Wicker Man (1973 version) one after all of the Brian Michael Bendis AvX bullshit storyline, and I may eventually finish it. I was angry. I wanted Steve Rogers to pay. I lashed out in the fic. Or was going to. The other crossover I'm planning (and even hinted at it in Spinning on that dizzy edge (I kissed his face and kissed his head) will be a Tony Stark/Chris Knight (Real Genius) fic, taking place not long after Chris graduates and is working for Darlington. I've got another one in mind that I've made notes for that's an Avengers/Flash Gordon (1980 version with all the flash and color and Queen songs), and then I just finished watching Boardwalk Empire, so there's a 1920s Marvel'verse AU, though I guess that's not really a crossover.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Hahahaha! Funny you should ask. I received my first ever hate on To get it right even a little / and that little grudging and awkward the other day. In fact, the hate was the first comments I got. I've deleted it, and I did report it but AO3 couldn't do anything about it because the person who commented used a name but wasn't logged in, so they couldn't have their IP traced. But it was all full of "you should kill yourself" and "I hope you're raped" because they claimed to be a Stucky shipper (in fact their moniker was "stuckygirl") and that Steve and Loki were a horrible ship because Loki is just a nasty greasy villain. Blah blah blah. I was more amused by it than anything, especially since there's a chance that the person who commented was a stalker of one of my besties who keeps trying to lash out at them and may well have decided to lash out at me as well. Who knows? Who cares?
10) Do you write smut?
Oh yes. As much as I can get away with. Smut is life. Smut is harmony in the universe. Smut is KFC's 7 herbs and spices.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so. I have no idea how to figure that out.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, I don't know. How would I find that out?
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I've rp-written before, but I've never co-written a fic.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don't just have one. Sorry. FrostIron, WinterFrost, FrostShield, WinterIron, Stucky, Stony, Scogan, IronDiamond, DiamondFrost, DashingFrost, DiamondClaws, and I may soon get to see how much I love DiamondShield.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
That may be the X-Men/Avengers/Wicker Man one. I have to feel the anger to finish that one off, I think, and I've pretty much decided that neither Brian Michael Bendis nor AvX exist, so.
16) What are your writing strengths?
I think humor and sarcasm are two of my biggest strengths, to be honest. I didn't realize it till I started adding it in almost organically, and that's pretty much where it is for me. I'd say the ability to convey emotions, expressions, touch, and romance are right up there, too.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Well, outside of the writing itself, trying not to be discouraged by people's lack of comments and kudos on my fics to the point of not writing is a writers block-inducing weakness, but I think I'm getting over that mostly these days. Trying to find the right balance between explication, "showing," and description, though I've also recently decided that description is not a weakness because I want to make the settings pretty visual.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think there's a fine line that this concept dances on. I LOVE to do it, but I also now want to make sure that it works smoothly into the story. I try and provide translations in the notes when I do it. I try not to overdo it, but I think it's necessary. It's the same thing as writing in accents. That's also dancing a fine line because you want to give a flavor of the accent, but you don't want to overwhelm the readers with dialect and accent. Not unless you're Stephen King and you've just written Dolores Claiborne.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Okay, the first fanfiction I ever wrote was when I was about 13, and it was a Children of the Corn Mary Sue. It was in pencil. Wrote it start to finish. And it has since gone to the gods in the circular altar.
The first fandom I consciously wrote for was Jay and Silent Bob, and yes, I still have those stories, but they no longer exist online since @jcrewguy blessedly took down his sites. Those fics will never see the light of day again because I don't like the movies anymore.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Nope. They're all my babies, and I love them equally. I can't pick a favorite.
Tagging: @scottxlogan @elvenferretots @mistressofmuses @izhunny @jcrewguy @chaotic-hypnotic-erotic @kleenexwoman and honestly anyone else who wants to do this.

memory loss ficlist
sup i have loved memory loss stories since i was a wee child and now that ao3 exists i can just read them all day instead of doing work anyway here’s some of my favorites (list definitely subject to change)
s*pernatural
no place to go (4685 words) by peterspajamas
Summary:
It's Tuesday. Again.
Sam watches his world fall apart, into a pattern that only Castiel can break. But Castiel doesn't remember.
Sam prays for help after his brother is stuck in a time loop after Jack becomes God. There are two important things about the angel that arrives to help them: 1. It's Castiel 2. He doesn't remember a thing
my thots
mostly a tuesday time-loop type fic (sam!), but there is definitely some memory loss going on (cas!)
Gone (51108 words) by reading (reposted from ff.net)
Summary:
Dean thinks Sam is dead. Sam has amnesia.
So, this is set pre-deal, sometime in season 2. Strangers and Angels 'verse.
my notes
this fic is legendary. so good in every way. hurt-comfort, memory loss (sam!), angst both before and after memories are regained...hits all my buttons.
When Memory Fails (3646 words) by palpablenotion
Summary:
He's in a hotel room with fake IDs, fake (or stolen) credit cards, guns and knives, lighter fluid and a lighter that's been in a fire hot enough to scorch metal, and he doesn't know who he is.
my thoughts
actually found this fic when looking for some other fics for this list...turned out really good. dean's memory gets roblox oofed and the situation gets cleaned up in a short, sweet, and funny way.
Yellow highway lines (28292 words) by livinginthequestion
Summary:
Weeks had gone by since Michael reneged on his pledge and took possession of Dean permanently; since he’d begun waging his war against humanity and the earth, killing without remorse or restriction; since Dean had, through sheer strength of will, slammed the door on the archangel in his mind. He was still holding that door shut, but growing ever more desperate, to the point that he seriously considered the Ma’lak Box as the only solution available to him.
What if Cas did some research - and came up with an alternative to the Ma’lak Box, a ritual to eject Michael from Dean’s mind? Spellwork so powerful it ripped the archangel loose with the force of a heavenly cataclysm, destroying him in the process - and leaving behind terrible consequences for Dean?
Follow Cas and Sam's desperate cross-country search for Dean, and Dean's journey to find himself, his memories - and maybe find out what he really wants.
my thoughts
goodness me is this one really good. it kinda parallels Gone in that whole "winchester brother makes new life using his skills without his memory" vibe but this plays out a bit differently. this fic. i just want to bathe in it like a jacuzzi.
mcu
How Could I Forget You? (3013 words) by inkinmyheartandonthepage
Summary:
Tony knows that this kid is important somehow, knows deep in his heart that the kid is special. He just can’t remember who he is.
my thoughts
tony loses his memory from some good ol' head trauma. irondad and spiderson angst ensues. memory is not restored by the end (but it is implied that tony's memory will return a few days after the fic is set.)
Take Control (13966 words) by theunremarkable
Summary:
You are No One
I am Bucky. I know this You are Bucky He knows this
~
But Bucky does not know, that it has been a year. He does not know that it has been a year of the same conversation. He does not know that it has been a year of the same tears from Peggy. He does not know that when he sleeps, he forgets. Bucky does not know that when he wakes, he will again be No One.
my thoughts
one of those great fics that toes the line between poetry and prose. also a songfic ("take control" by kodaline), and the song is really darn good. keep in mind this is part 2 of a series that canon diverges so the timeline is a bit wonky.
Act of Sage (64315 words) by hotelmichelle
Summary:
After the Battle of New York, Steve finds a strange note in his apartment. It’s his handwriting, but he sure as hell would’ve remembered writing this.
my thoughts
this post-endgame-2012-timeline stucky fix-it is a textbook example of what happens when a fic starts out not as strong, but finds its voice and approaches its issues uniquely. the beginning isn't really my taste buuuuut at a certain point the fic definitely takes its own unique spin on things. and it's. so good. there's an oc who's a trauma therapist who works with an amnesiac/traumatized bucky barnes. she's just. the greatest, most intelligent, awesomest, most badass human being. also there's a lot of law terminology for bucky's legal trial. (i think the author was in law school while writing this?)
trials and tribulations of the universes saviour (34287 words) by imeanthatsprettysnazzy
Summary:
The thoughts kept racing through his head, them helping block out the continued, strangled begging coming from Mister Stark, along with the pain, as he stared Thanos right in the eyes.
“And I..” He spoke loudly, though he could still barely hear himself. “Don’t... Care...”
Peter brought his fingers together, and snapped.
OR
An alternate version of Endgame where Peter snaps (but survives).
This is a continuation of The Brother She Wished That She Knew, but it can be read alone if you want :)
(Used to be called When Fate Turns In A Different Direction but that was even cornier than this so I changed it)
my thoughts
the memory loss is like 1 chapter of this but it's really well-executed (and also i'm trying to list as many mcu fics as spn fics and it's surprisingly hard. MUST I REITERATE I HAVENT WATCHED 1 EP OF SPN jaklsdfjflk). what it says on the tin, also part of a series featuring a lot of peter's mom may parker. humor, angst, whump, a badass prosthesis and an awesome found family — this fic has everything you could ever want and more.
Bonus non-MCU marvel fic: If It Comes Back (10823 words) by flightinflame
Summary:
Logan turns his back on the school, setting out as a lone wolf. Until he meets a young man in need of help - a young man who looks painfully familiar.
my thoughts
if you want to leave the "mystery person" a surprise you should probably skip the tags (and the rest of this summary.) basically it's post x3, logan is sad, and picks up a mystery hitchhiker. it's the first (and as of now, only) scogan fic i've ever read and definitely a great introduction to the ship. also Person X and logan both get a liberal dollop of angst (hooray!)
