Maria was wearing the silver vinyl dress she had bought to make herself feel better and her hair was loose and her feet were bare and driving up through the canyon in the actor's Ferrari she felt good for the first time in a while. The actor had a tape in the car that played Midnight Hour over and over again and when they got to his house he introduced her to the eight or ten people in the living room as Myra. "This is Myra," he said. "I just found her some place." Four or five joints were being passed in the living room and she smoked one and then went to find a Coca-cola. In the kitchen she danced by herself and felt a little dizzy but still good. She liked his not knowing her. She did not much like him but she liked his not knowing her.

July 2, 2023. Was GREAT to be back on the Myra Canyon to Penticton stretch of the KVR. It's an 80-km ride that stays +1200 meters above sea level for the first half, winding though Myra Canyon over EIGHTEEN trestle bridges (and through two tunnels), then makes a long, gradual 2.2%-grade descent down to Okanagan Lake (must love gravel roads with washboard, potholes, rocks, and 20 kms of SAND!). I did this ride a few years ago and it was my longest-ever ride at the time. Exhilarating ... and exhausting. This time, it was a fun ride through some of the most beautiful scenery in BC (and some of the most challenging gravel). Kudos to my partner, Corina Dootjes, who rode it all with grit and grace on her 650b Breezer!

August 18/2022

After breakfast , we drove on a dirt road up to the bike rental place at Myra Canyons. We were early, so they processed us quickly.

I was unsure of my abilities again today. We had to ride over 18 trestles, and ride through 2 tunnels. From the distance , I thought I will walk them. As we were riding on the trail, I rode on a short one and, since that wasn’t too scary, I pushed my self to ride on all of them. What a spectacular view and experience. It was 20 km return biking, and I was happy that I finished it with no accident.

After checking out from our hotel, we drove to Revelstoke national park, where we drove the meadows to sky highway. We walked around the alpine lakes and several meadow trails. We enjoyed the wild flowers and the views.

Then we drove through Glacier national park, and ended up at Yoho park. We camped at Takkakaw Falls over night.
