Dog teeth
[ID: Art of Mob from Mob Psycho 100. He's standing beneath huge humanoid jaws, just so that the upper teeth are covering his head, and staring at the camera. Everything is red, the shadows mostly pitch black, save for Mob's irises, which are a bright green and yellow. End ID.]

Maybe it’s a silly thing to get annoyed about but the way so many Irish names get anglicised because people just. ignore the fadas? Brian (br-eye-an) and Brían (bree-an) are not pronounced the same. Rónán Hession? Yeah that’s not Ro-nan Hess-ee-un. Ro-nawn Hesh-shn. Ciarán and Ciaran are similarly slightly different (kier-rawn vs kier-ran).
And that’s not even touching on people just dropping the fadas for no reason. Sean is not pronounced the same as Seán (or Séan for that matter). Sinead, Roisin, Aine, Blaithin, Oisin, Brid, Grainne, Meabh, Caolan, Cuan Orla, Una, Donal, Rian, Ruairi - they’re not Irish names. They are, to a very slight degree, anglicised. I know that some electronic systems don’t allow for accents on letters but why? Many, many languages use accents and those names are also incorrect without them. Mihăilescu and Mihailescu are not pronounced the same. Skłodowska and Sklowdowska are not the same. The letters are not the same. An accent isn’t just a pretty addition to a letter - in most languages it is an entirely separate letter. Electronic systems should be set up to recognise these variances. Also apostrophes in names. Those too. They exist for a reason.
(Also the ways Irish names are pronounced differently in England just because. Hession. McMahon. Moran. It’s not that I’m blaming Irish people who emigrate or English people as such, it’s just so…jarring? When people say the names differently like that.)

My favorite part of Nimona's narrative queerness is the dichotomy of the trans experience and the cis gay experience explored in Nimona and Ballister's relationship. They're both queer people villains, but Nimona's villainy is seen as more innate, while Ballister's is something he can escape. Nimona is trans a "monster," but he is just a victim of circumstances who can reclaim a powerful position. Nimona goes to him as a fellow queer person villain, but finds that Ballister has just as many judgements to unpack and insensitive questions to ask as other people, though he is more willing to do the work. I saw so much of the community dynamics of trans and cis people in queer spaces in this. Outsiders think we're exactly the same, but internally many cis people either don't care for uniquely trans struggles or want to distance themselves from us completely.

DNI WITH THIS PERSON
MAJOR TW FOR THIS POST but I feel that it is very important to talk about
TW under cut
-Very real transphobia
-The death of Nex Benedict
-Sexualizing deceased minors
So I went on motherless today for the first and last time. I looked under misgendering stuff and found someone that I recognized from the misgendering subreddit as I am on of the mods on there. They will no longer be on there. I clicked it out of curiosity and scrolled and felt absolutely sick at what I found.
The comments you make are linked to your profile on motherless and this person posted a comment under a video of someone cumming on a picture of Nex Benedict, a trans indigenous 16 year old who was recently killed. Obviously I did not watch this video because that is the fucking sickest thing I have ever heard and wish Id never even seeing the thumbnail.
This person clearly links their motherless account in their linktree which is found through their bio. You don't have to go looking for this stuff, it was very easy to find without any searching other than basic misgendering kink stuff. KINK NOT FUCKING REAL LIFE.
This is a real life dead child who was killed, presumably because of them being trans. (It was just ruled as a suicide but if someone is bullied so much they feel that is the only way out, I consider that murder. Plus I do feel the attack did contribute)
How could you fucking sexualize that? That is heinous. This is a kink, which first of all, means no Minors. EVER. Second, not real life. If you want to sexualize the real transphobia in your own life, fine. But do NOT fucking bring in real people who are dealing with transphobia.
This also includes posting pictures or videos of trans people and misgendering them, that's fucking gross.
This was absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking to see. Don't interact with this person. Please don't go find the video. I will post the comment of what they said just for evidence but just the thumbnail was so fucking upsetting to see, genuinely made me feel sick.

Ok. Watched dungeon meshi recently .... and why did noone tell me Falin is also autistic??
Like. Yes yes, all the mob vs laios autism polls are fun, but mob is so much more similar to Falin than Laios -  not just in how their autism manifests, or their personality, but like..... they're even both extremely powerful in their magical fields!! They both see and communicate with ghosts!!! They both ride the line between human and monstrous!!!! I love them so much...
But. If we're talking comparisons, between Mob and Laios...
I really think they're two sides of a coin. None is better than the other, they do vastly different things and are great in their own rights because of it.
Laios is an adult with autism who is surrounded by people who are annoyed by his presence or generally find him strange or offputting. He highlights the struggle of that, how hard it can be to find and keep true friends that actually care about you and aren't lying about just tolerating you when you're neurodivergent - and how even when you have great knowledge or skill in something, just as often it helps you, it will also make people look at you weird. He's loud. He's unapologetic. He's passionate!!! And the right people will come to appreciate that. But it doesn't erase the struggle that being so open often comes with.
Mob's narrative, on the other hand, is a coming of age story. It's about a traumatized autistic kid who isn't open, isn't loud, who makes an effort to not stand out - because he got burnt in the past, and he himself burnt others in the past, as a result of how his autism manifests. And it's about how he comes to realize that coming out of that shell is worth it. That there will be kind people waiting on the other side, that you're not doing anyone any good by ignoring your own wants and needs. That you have good to offer to the world!! That there's good people to meet !!! That you have more strength in yourself than you think !!!! And how even at your most destructive, all your flaws and true colors revealed, mask finally off .... your friends will still love you. Because you were always yourself. Even when you were hiding.
They do different things.
Dungeon meshi is a more realistic story - there's no otherwordly psychic powers amplifying the autistic symptoms present. It's just a weird, wonderful autistic man with his encyclopedia of knowledge and his small gaggle of friends. And the autism may not be absolutely central .. but it's there. Following the story every step of the way, influencing it that way or the other.
Mob Psycho 100 on the other hand is a lot more fantastical, and a lot more idealistic. There's no heavy worldbuilding to dive into, and the monsters and antagonists they face aren't the main course - instead, the main focus is on Mob, and his inner world, and gradually revealing more of it. In that way - while DM is an 'outside looking in' kinda story, mp100 is an 'inside looking out' one.
And I love both of them.
(Keep in mind I haven't read the dungeon meshi manga yet, just watched the anime ;^^ so I'm sorry that there's probably a lot more to add to the comparison on that front. Please don't spoil in the notes tho!!)

Maidin mhaith! Asking from my main (you probably know me from my sideblog llyfrenfys) but recently I've decided to relearn Irish and I was wondering if you knew of any resources for learning the Ulster dialect specifically?
I was taught very basic Irish at undergrad in the Connacht dialect- but I've forgotten most of it since I've been focusing on my Welsh more in the last few years. I've decided to try again with the Ulster dialect and so far I'm doing better than the first time round. The similarities with Scottish Gaelic really help, since I was able to pick up the basics of that a lot faster than when I first was taught Irish. In any case I'm finding the Ulster dialect a lot easier and I'm enjoying being able to say things as Gaelige again.
It's alright if not, but are there any resources out there for the Ulster dialect specifically? Grma in advance!
I’d love to help but unfortunately I have no idea. I definitely know a couple of people who are trying to learn Ulster Irish though and maybe they might have better advice - @trans-cuchulainn I think is one? And @kaityslangblr has quite a few posts that look educational.

Okay major Across the Spiderverse spoilers but I have speculation I want to put out there.
So I just saw the movie with @everyonehasbeatenmetotheusername and we were discussing and we came up with a theory: Miguel O’Hara isn’t really Spider-Man. In fact, he might actually be a version of the Prowler.
Our reasons:
The music that played when he is introduced immediately reminded me of the Prowler theme from the first movie
We see him injecting himself with spider venom, as though he didn’t get it the same way as everyone else
His webs have a much more technological, artificial feel to them than the rest of the spider people, and the claws on his suit are very reminiscent of the Prowler’s claws, with are also artificial
Miles straight up questions whether he is a real Spider-Man in his dialogue
It’s a very strange coincidence that Miguel was able to show up in a world exactly when another Miguel died and take his place. But what if he killed that world’s Miguel to try and steal his happy story?
The ending introduces the idea that a person who could be Spider-Man in one world could be the Prowler in another
Miguel is so insistent that Miles is an anomaly, that he shouldn’t exist. Perhaps he’s overcompensating for something?
Neither of us know much about the comics, so this speculation could be way off base, but I wanted to share the theory.

If we see Malcolm punch someone in the face but he says “don’t worry Jamie has never hit anyone, or at least anyone he’s hit has never had the nerve to tell a superior,” and Malcolm is the level headed Scot, then just how feral is Jamie?
