Portrait of Doge Francesco Morosini (1619–1694), the man who blew up the Parthenon on September 26, 1687. Morosini, described it in his report to the Venetian government as a "fortunate shot".
As part of the Morean War (1684–1699), the Venetians sent an expedition led by Francesco Morosini to attack Athens and capture the Acropolis. The Ottoman Turks fortified the Acropolis and used the Parthenon as a gunpowder magazine.
On 26 September 1687 a Venetian mortar round, fired from the Hill of Philopappos, blew up the magazine.[102][126] The explosion blew out the building's central portion and caused the cella's walls to crumble into rubble.[121] According to Greek architect and archaeologist Kornilia Chatziaslani:[100]
...three of the sanctuary's four walls nearly collapsed and three-fifths of the sculptures from the frieze fell. Nothing of the roof apparently remained in place. Six columns from the south side fell, eight from the north, as well as whatever remained from the eastern porch, except for one column. The columns brought down with them the enormous marble architraves, triglyphs, and metopes.
Accounts written at the time conflict over whether this destruction was deliberate or accidental; one such account, written by the German officer Sobievolski, states that a Turkish deserter revealed to Morosini the use to which the Turks had put the Parthenon; expecting that the Venetians would not target a building of such historic importance. Morosini was said to have responded by directing his artillery to aim at the Parthenon.[100]
When he conquered the Acropolis in early 1688, Morosini attempted to loot Athena's and Poseidon's horses and chariots from the western pediment of the Parthenon, but the sculptures fell on the ground and smashed.[4][5] This was the first documented attempt to remove sculptures from the pediments.[6]
He was given the victory title Peloponnesiacus, and was the first Venetian citizen to have a bronze bust placed during his own lifetime in the Great Hall, with the inscription Francisco Morosini Peloponnesiaco, adhuc viventi, Senatus.[3]

I would not really call Candy Claws shoegaze. Many of the reviews mentioned this - yes the vocals sound shoegazy, but the music isn't anywhere close.
"Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time was the 4th album from this Fort Collins, Colorado band. Members of the band later formed Sound of Ceres (Joyful Noise Recordings) with members of The Apples in Stereo and The Drums.
This album is a concept album developed with the help of poet Jenn Morea. The album tells the story of a white seal named Ceres and a little girl named Calypso traveling through the Mesozoic Era. The music does give one the sense of a wondrous world and story. To me the music does recall the work of any number of Elefant 6 bands (i.e. Of Montreal or The Apples in Stereo) and MGMT.
This is a 10-year anniversary release and comes with a bonus CD. It is being reissued by the original label - Twosyllable Records.

Thinking about Morea and Talea. Because Morea was the lucky one, wasn’t she? She was bought by someone who treated her well, who let her work towards her eventual freedom. While Talea ended up with Darzin D’Mon, famously cruel and sadistic. But Morea’s proximity to Kihrin (ironically the goddess of luck’s favourite person) was what got her killed while that same fact saved Talea, got her sent away to Yor where she was freed, met Xivan, trained to be a warrior and eventually… became the new goddess of luck.

The early 2000s Bollywood erotic thriller is such an underrated genre like why aren’t we studying them in film school. Srs.
These films are full of decadent glamour, thotty y2k fashions, flashy makeup w/ thin brows and metallic eyeshadow, exotic locations, passionate romances, and gorgeous actors (Bipasha Basu, John Abraham, Udita Goswami, Dino Morea, Mallika Sherawat & Emraan Hashmi are all former models so that explains a lot).
There’s often hella overacting and bizarre storylines, but that’s part of the ethnic melodrama of Bollywood which is perfect imo. Even in India a lot of these movies were dismissed as vulgar trash but I strongly disagree w that assessment.
The musical soundtracks quite simply go off bc the they’re full of romance and beauty. Bollywood films develop characters and plotlines through bomb music, and these thot thrillers serve up that energy. KK, Shreya Ghoshal, Himmesh Reshammiya, Atif Aslam, Alka Yagnik, etc all have such expressive voices that convey love so well.
The funny thing is that these movies would be PG in Hollywood but in India they’re v controversial lmao. They’re all subversive movies which weren’t afraid to depict female sensuality and they celebrated the beauty of Indian women and men.
I hate these movies in a way tho for shaping my ideas of love as something that is intense and crazy bc it’s made me deranged like why am I acting like the demon possessed bitch from Raaz I blame Mahesh Bhatt
