Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.

#slamming a stick into the ground like the pope ‘MORE WIZARDS WITH MINOR COGNITIVE DECLINE’ #old washed up bards and barbarians who had to get a hip replaced #the only classes that are probably immune to it are druids and clerics #based solely on the power of very old gardeners and priests #they’re probably good until they start losing 3x oriented #but even monks I I think have the right to take an arrow to the knee #the other aspect of this is differing lifespans which mean that when parties do get back together for a reunion tour #there are incentives to keep them apace with their peers #and the format of dnd means that the only other time most people see their old characters is in little cameos when friends gm #and no one wants to nerf their friend’s baby #but with in the era of more experimental actual play and game design #I think we can move past these hang ups and give the people what they deserve #old rogues with arthritis who are still really good but won’t stop complaining about their glory days

#things i find on the ground sometimes #realized i had never actually posted stuf from the sculpture garden before #had a lovely walk #casting image quality Nasty but it adds charm #the gray monk is inside a brick cylinder #shut in behind a heavy iron door #took the picture through a hole in the door #sometimes the door is open #i used to smoke weed in there #the big blue chicken is what theyre trying to replace the spoonbridge with (as a mascot/landmark) #but you could never ever overshadow the spoonbridge #the walker gift shop is pushing that stupid chicken soooooo hard #im really lucky to live a 10 minute walk away from like. the one and only mpls landmark #the moa is like a thirty minute walk and a train ride away but the moa is overrated #i mean. it IS huge like obscenely big #i used to go loiter there all day instead of having a birthday party as a teenager #its an incredible peoplewatching spot #but a mall is a mall #(with a theme park inside ig) #and a huge minigolf course #wait two*** huge minigolf courses #and a mirror maze #and a movie theater where i ALMOST met carey elwes but was just a couple spots too far back in the line #and an entire aquarium #.......... admittedly it is kind of cool in a commercial marvel kind of way #u can spend the whole day there and not run out of things to see and when u finally do leave ur feet ache cos its such a big place #and walking from one end to the other all day turns out to be quite the distance #its overwhelming #but u cant be there unaccompanied as a minir so when i was in my teenage loitering era i did get caught once or twice

The Meddling Monk splices the Fifth Doctor into the First Doctor’s timeline as part of an impossibly elaborate Scheme to force him to change history and get the Time Lords to oubliette him out of existence so he can step into the hole in the air the Doctor’s disappearance made and BECOME him. all because the Doctor got his best friend killed in the future. insane revenge plot. you hate him so you become him. the power of the doctor before its time. amazing
