“i get so hard when i’m around you“ with Mitch Marner? I love your work :))
Tumblr media
You talked with Mitch’s teammates and some of the people that worked behind the scenes for the leafs at the Charity event you and Micth were invited to. You wore the closest thing you could find that was around the same Color of the jerseys, It was a mid-way navy blue dress you got a couple months back.
As you talked to one of the event Coordinator you felt a pair of eyes on you, you scanned the room laying your eyes on Mitch giving him a sweet smile but he only continued to stare. You could see his tongue poking at the inside of his cheek clearly in focus. You just shrugged it off and turned back to the conversion.
But what you didn't know was that Micth’s eyes never left your body, he had been staring at you all night. He loved the way you looked, the way the dress loosely fit around your ass, the amount of  cleavage your dress showed just leaving the rest up to Imagination to whoever was looking. But Micth was the only one who knew what you looked like under that dress and he loved it that way. The more he looked at you the more a tent started to form in his pants, He waited till the lady you were talking to left so he could make his move.
He walked between a few tables to get to where you were, you still had your back to him as he slipped his hands around your waist pulling you flushed against his chest. He couldn't ignore the Quiet gasp that left your lips, as you felt Micth press his hard on into your ass.
“Seriously Mitch?” you spoke turning around in his grasp now having your back up against the edge of the table
“God baby I can't help it” He groaned “I get so hard when i’m around you”
You felt Micth’s hand slowing start to move down and grab your ass roughly making you jump forward slightly into him
“I got you baby” He teased
“Micth stop people may be watching” you spoke looking around
“No ones watching baby, they all got better things to do” He whispered leaving a couple soft kisses on the side of your neck
“Mitch” you drew out, now started to feel what he was feeling
“What do you need?” he whispered into your ear
“You, Mitch I need you” Micth smiled at your words knowing he’s known whatever this was.
“Let's go then” he said, grabbing your hand and leading you out.

"who's a good boy?" you cooed, pulling zeus close to you.
the chocolate lab barked excitedly, jumping up and down to give you kisses. you laughed in response, sitting on the floor and holding him close.
"i missed you too," you grinned.
"excuse me?" mitch stood in front of you. "can't believe you love the dog more than me."
"i missed you too," you smiled at him, holding an arm out. "come here."
mitch took a seat next to you, moving zeus out of the way.
"hey!" you complained.
"you're all mine, you got that?" he looked up at you. "i'm not sharing."

paper rings- m. marner
Tumblr media
masterlist
t-swift inspired works list
requested: n
pairings: mitch marner x reader
warnings: just Taylor swift song mention + incredibly short
a/n: still taking requests!
Kiss me once 'cause you know I had a long night
Kiss me twice 'cause it's gonna be alright
Three times 'cause I've waited my whole life
you watched your boyfriend, of three years, shake a martini for guests at a wedding. it was almost like it was his calling to be a bartender. you didn’t know how he even got behind the bar or what even happened for him to be in that place, but you know one thing was for sure. he was killing it.
“you love him don’t you?” you heard a voice from behind you. you didn’t realize how long you had been standing there, or even how long mitch had been making cocktails to even notice Auston Matthews was behind you the whole time.
“a warning would have been nice.” you moved out of the way of the other guests to the side of the bar, still able to see Mitch and for him to know you were there. he kept checking on you from time to time, but he was having the time of his life.
“sorry, I couldn’t watch you gawk at him for too long or else you might ruin the happy couples wedding.” Auston snorted, taking the drink mitch poured for him. you barely even got to open your mouth before mitch moved on and was working up a sweat.
you both watched for a bit longer before the bartenders finally got tired of Mitch’s overenthusiastic characteristics, and his ideas for shots. it wasn’t even two seconds you got him back before he was joining the fun.
“if you were to get married right now, would you do it?” Auston asked, nodding his head over in Mitch’s direction watching him hype up the bride. you knew your wedding would always be magical, but once you met mitch you didn’t care where you got married. you just wanted him.
“I’d marry him with paper rings if it meant I married him now.” the idea of marriage was always a topic of conversation when you got invited to weddings. you knew Mitch was the one since you met, and you had no question he would pop the question soon.
“well you’re in luck, I heard the priest is still here if you’re serious.” Auston pointed him out, the priest was talking to the parents of the bride. it almost felt like the stars were aligning, but you would never overstep someone else’s perfect day. you would wait for your own.
you shook your head turning to Auston, “no, I’ll have my own wedding some other time, Auston.” you shot a look at the dance floor that was turning into the tossing of the bouquet. someone else’s turn to get married next. you didn’t even hesitate to make your way to the dance floor or shove your drink into Auston’s chest.
you caught Mitch’s eyes with all of the other guys rooting(or disapproving) of their girlfriends wanting to catch the bouquet badly. you could hardly read what he was thinking, but you knew the look was not a nervous one.
you caught a glimpse of Auston whispering to Mitch, most likely about the conversation you just had, but the bouquet flying in the air right towards you snapped you out of your thoughts. before you even knew it the bouquet was in your hands. when you looked up from the beautiful arrangement of blue, white, and pink flowers you were met with Mitch’s excitement coming towards you.
“so? tonight? how does that sound?” he pulled you aside from all the jealous bridesmaids, upset guests, and fuming mother in laws.
“mitch, we don’t have rings.”
“then let’s use napkins. you said you’d marry me with paper rings, so let’s do it!”
Darling, you're the one I want
In paper rings, in picture frames, in dirty dreams
Oh, you're the one I want

Ruin The Moment | M.M.
Tumblr media
note: this song reminded me of mitch
summary: you take mitch as your date to a wedding but your ex is there and has questions
warnings: shitty ex, fluff, slight angst
wc: 1.4K
“Congratulations! It was a beautiful ceremony.” Mitch shakes your older brother’s hand before hugging your new sister in law.
“Thanks, man.” Your older brother pulls you in for a hug. “It’s about time the two of you got together.” He says as he looks at you and Mitch standing next to each other. Mitch matched the color of his tie to your dress and he looked absolutely amazing in his suit.
Mitch had been your best friend since your first day at Blyth Academy. Everyone that knew the two of you had expected you to get together at one point but you never did. Mitch’s first love was always hockey and you didn’t want to pull him away from his dream.
Cue the shock when you arrived at your brother’s wedding with Mitch as your date. You’re pretty sure your mother had tears in her eyes when she said hello to you. The only person that didn’t seem happy to see the two of you together was the best man, Jake. He also happened to be your ex-boyfriend.
“Hopefully you’ll be the next bride.” Your new sister in law says as she hugs you.
You smile at her as you glance over at Mitch. “I think it’s too early for that.” Even as you say it, you know he’s the only man you could ever picture walking down the aisle toward.
“Let’s get a picture of the four of you.” Your mom comes up behind you with her phone, motioning you and Mitch to stand by your brother and his bride. Mitch puts an arm around your waist, pulling you into his side. You place your hand on his chest as you smile at your mom. “You all look so good.” She cries.
“Mom, it’s their day.” You laugh as you move away from Mitch. His hand catches yours and he intertwines your fingers before you can get too far away from him. “The reception is about to start, let’s go find our seats.” You tell him.
You and Mitch were sitting at a table with six of your brother and sister in laws single friends since you added him as a plus one at the last minute. Mitch wasted no time in introducing the two of you to everyone at the table and chatting everyone up.
It’s not until after the first dance when the bridal party sits down do you realize that Jake has a perfect view of you and Mitch from his seat. He obviously watches the two of you during the speeches and even makes a joke during his own about how his friendship with your brother survived dating his sister.
Your brother looks at Mitch apologetically but Mitch shrugs it off, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. “You okay, y/n?” He whispers in your ear.
“I’m fine.” You assure him before sipping on your champagne. “I’m glad you’re here with me.”
He smiles and leans over to kiss your forehead. “There’s nowhere I'd rather be.”
After dinner, Mitch leaves you to find a bathroom before making you promise to dance with him. As if you could ever tell him no. As soon as Mitch is out of sight, Jake drops into his empty seat. “Nothing to worry about, huh?”
You roll your eyes before turning your head to look at him. You’re a little surprised to feel nothing when you look into his green eyes. Blue is a little more your color now. “Mitch and I were just friends when you and I were together.” You explain.
“Yeah, okay.” Jake huffs. “You ditched me for him anytime he was in town. I don’t know why I stayed so long.”
“You cheated on me.” You remind him through gritted teeth. “What does it matter now anyway?”
“I just want you to admit that I'm not entirely at fault, y/n.” Jake tries to place his hand on top of yours but you pull away from him. “We were so good when we were good.”
“But we were usually bad.” You say, remembering the arguments, the sleepless nights on the couch.
“I was jealous of him.” Jake says motioning to Mitch’s name tag at the table. “Clearly for good reason.”
“You treated me like shi-”
“Excuse me.” Mitch’s voice sounds behind you as you feel a large hand rest on your shoulder. “I’d like to dance with my girl.”
You allow Mitch to lead you to the dance floor and you eagerly step into his embrace as he holds you for a slow song. “I should’ve known he’d try something.” Mitch murmurs in your ear.
“It’s fine.” You insist. “I’m fine.”
“Y/n, if you just told your brother…”
“They’ve been friends just as long as you and I have.” You tell him. “I don’t want to come between them.”
Mitch rests his chin on the top of your head as the two of you sway back and forth. “If your brother knew the way Jake treated you he wouldn’t want to be his friend.” You rest your head on his shoulder. Deep down, you’re not so sure that that’s true. Your brother and Jake have always been close. Sometimes you wonder if he knew how awful Jake was to his girlfriends.
As the night continues and Mitch gets more alcohol inside of him, he starts losing pieces of his outfit. First it’s the suit jacket, and then his tie. On his third trip back from the bathroom he’s missing his belt.
“Looks like you’re going to have your hands full tonight.” Your sister in law jokes as Mitch attempts to grind on you. “He can’t keep his hands off of you.”
You blush as you wrap your arms around his neck. “He’s affectionate enough without alcohol.” You laugh. Deep down you love how handsy he is, but he doesn’t need to know that right at this moment.
“You look beautiful tonight, y/n/n.” Mitch whispers in your ear as you dance together. He keeps you close to him all night, spinning you around the dance floor and kissing your forehead or cheeks any chance he gets.
When you finally decide to call it a night, Mitch holds your hand and skips to your car. “You should drink, I drove.” He tells you as he opens the driver side door for you.
You laugh and kiss his cheek. “I will drive, yes. Can you get in the car okay?”
“Yeah, watch!” Mitch happily sprints around your car and opens the passenger door, effectively hitting himself in the face. “Shit.”
“Oh my god, Mitchy.” You run around the car and place your hands on his face as you inspect him for any blood. “Are you okay?”
He gives you a dopey grin. “I’m fine now that you’re here.”
You roll your eyes and help him up. “C’mon let's get you home.” Once he’s safely in the car you get in the driver’s seat.
As you drive, Mitch sings along with the radio and you fall in love with him even more as he sings your favorite song to you. “You know, this would be a perfect wedding song.” He tells you seriously.
“Oh yeah?” You laugh as you glance at him out of the corner of your eye. “First dance or walk down the aisle?”
“First dance for sure.” He smiles at you. “You’d look so good in a wedding dress.” Your heart soars as Mitch continues to talk about what he would do for his hypothetical wedding.
When you pull into his driveway, he slumps in his seat. “Do you need help?” You ask as you’re already reaching over to undo his seatbelt.
“No, I'm just not ready for this night to end.” He turns his head toward you and for a moment you think he’s going to kiss you. “Thanks for letting me be your fake date tonight.”
Reality washes over you as you watch your best friend reach for the door handle. You consider admitting your feelings to him for a moment but decide that it’s not the right time. It never is. “Of course, Mitchy. Thanks for coming with me tonight.”
He reaches over to boop your nose with his finger before he opens the door. “I’ll always be here for you.” He gets out of the car and gives you a little wave. “Good night, y/n.”
“Good night.” You reply before he shuts the door and starts walking toward his front door. “I love you.”

won’t you stay til the a.m.?
Tumblr media
summary: New Year’s Eve. A time for celebration of another a fresh start, of new beginnings. But for you, it was just another reminder of all the time you felt like you wasted. And when you share a heart-to-heart with your childhood best friend Mitch, someone who you fell for years ago but never told, will the both of you let another moment pass you by? [written for Demi’s (@antoineroussel) Winter Fic Exchange. to Quinn (@fear-of-flyers) with love.]
playlist word count: 3.3k warnings: alcohol consumption, self-doubt, general fears about the passage of time.
The sky above you is clear, not even a whisper of a cloud in the darkness. You inhale the cold winter air, the sting of it entering your lungs a welcome feeling. Through the open window, you can hear the New Year’s Eve party drifting up the staircase of Mitch Marner’s childhood home; cheers, laughter, and music.
You know should be down there, celebrating with your family and your friends both old and new. Celebrating the ending of a year and the excitement of a new beginning. But that thought made a different chill sneak into your bones.
Another year come and gone. Another sign of time passing. Another painful reminder of how the world was moving on, whether you wanted it to or not.
Perhaps that was the reason you snuck upstairs with your jacket into Mitch’s old bedroom and took the screen out of the window before climbing onto the roof; your only company the stars.
You wish you could see more of them.
Another deep exhale escapes as you take another swig of your drink from the cliché red solo cup before turning your face back towards the sky. You are so lost in thought that you barely notice the sounds of someone else behind you until a gentle curse breaks the winter silence. It is only then does your attention turn towards the open window to see Mitch climbing through the frame, a champagne bottle in one hand and the other rubbing the back of his head.
“Having trouble there Mitchy?” you tease, the nickname rolling off your tongue with ease.
“I’m getting too old for this,” comes his reply as he sneaks across the shingles before lowering himself next to you with a groan.
“Don’t say that. You’re only 25.”
“Exactly. That’s ancient, depending on who you ask.”
A dry chuckle escapes you. Wasn’t that the truth? You weren’t elderly by any means but still… Time has a funny way of fucking you over.
You take another sip from your cup before extending it out towards Mitch. He reads your silent request and fills the cup before taking a drink of his own from the bottle.
The two of you sit there in the quiet before you finally speak.
“How’d you know I was out here?”
“Intuition,” he replies and you turn to look at him, an eyebrow raised in question.
“Pretty big word for a man who can’t say ‘encyclopedia’.”
“Call it a new year’s resolution,” he jokes and you can’t stop the genuine laugh that falls from you, recognizing that teasing tone laced through his words. “Nah, I just knew you’d be out here because it was our spot. Back when we were kids.”
You smile at the memories, a part of you happy to know that they still existed in his mind after all these years. The two of you hiding up here when you didn’t want to go home, or whenever Mitch’s older brother Chris was being annoying, or just when the two of you wanted to be alone.
“It’s still a good place to be alone,” you muse aloud, eyes returning to the stars. Mitch is quiet besides you but you can feel his gaze trained on your form.
“Do you want to be alone?” he asks, his gentle voice pulling your attention back to him. Even in the darkness, you can see his baby blue eyes reflecting the moonlight and your breath catches in your throat at the sight.
It was beyond cliché, falling for him. But as the two of you grew, so did your feelings. You never told him, believing that it was just an innocent childhood crush that would fade with time. When he got drafted, you thought the new distance between the two of you would prove your assumption true. But even with his hectic NHL schedule, he still managed to visit frequently and every time you saw him again, those feelings came back twice as strong. But you still made no attempt to become anything more than friends, scared of ruining what you had with him already.
However, there were moments: moments in your shared past and moments like these – when he looked at you like you were made of starlight – that made you think that maybe, just maybe, he might feel the same.
“You can stay,” you whisper, his eyes still connected to yours. “Besides,” you say, turning away, “this was our spot. Seems pretty rude to kick you out of our spot, especially since it’s on the roof of your house.”
“Well, you were the one to figure out how to take the screen out of the window. So, I guess it’s technically your spot since you discovered it,” he rebuts.
“It was your idea though.”
“It was just a stupid suggestion,” he says and the self-deprecating edge to his voice catches you off-guard, demanding your attention once more. Mitch is now leaning back on one hand, taking another hearty drink from the bottle of champagne.
“It was the best suggestion,” you say softly, your own voice pulling his eyes back to you. The two of you appraise each other for a moment before that loveable grin appears on his face.
“So we’ll just call it even?”
“Sounds good to me.”
The silence falls between the two of you once more, a comfortable silence as you both sip the chilled champagne. Your eyes have turned back towards the sky, assessing the dim twinkle of the few stars above you, tracing the shapes of the constellations that you could make out.
“What are you doing out here?” Mitch asks, his voice once again echoing through the night.
Your initial reply is a shrug, accompanied by another gulp of alcohol as your eyes stay fixed on the horizon. Mitch doesn’t press you for information, content to let you sit. You knew that he would wait for you to talk. Or, even if you never did, he would still sit beside you to keep you company.
That was one of the things you loved about him.
“What are you doing up here?” you flip the question back to him. “Shouldn’t you be downstairs? It’s your party after all. I thought you would be hanging out on the couch with your friends.”
“Eh, they can survive without me,” comes his noncommittal reply. “Besides, you weren’t there, so...”
His voice trails off and you can’t stop that small yet persistent flame of hope in your chest from leaping at the lingering unsaid statement. You force yourself to keep your gaze forward, to keep your voice as neutral as possible.
“So?”
“So,” Mitch pauses and out of the corner of your eye, you see him raise the bottle to his lips before he lightly rolls his shoulders and darts his eyes back towards you. “You still haven’t told me what you’re doing out here.”
“Trying to stop time,” you answer, the words out of your mouth before you could really think them over. There is a slight tilt of Mitch’s head as he analyzes your words, a brief moment of quiet contemplation until he speaks again.
“How are you going to do that?”
“Unsuccessfully,” you reply, the scathing edge to your voice as sharp as the winter chill. The red cup lifts to your lips as you down the remaining liquid.
“Why do you want time to stop?” Mitch questions, his voice gentle in response to your clear frustration.
The answer doesn’t come freely at first. Instead, you repeat the earlier motion of wordlessly holding out your empty cup towards him. He pours more of the sparkling champagne without hesitation and you take another long drink, taking the moment to gather your thoughts.
“Because I feel like I’m running out of it,” you murmur, eyes now sinking down towards your lap, as your fingers play with the plastic edge of your cup. “I know it’s stupid for me to feel that way. I’m young – I have plenty of time. But still, I feel like I’m falling behind. And time isn’t waiting for me to catch up.”
Another drink of champagne, another heavy sigh.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s the night: New Year’s Eve. An entire holiday devoted to the fact that another year has come and gone. Or maybe it’s this party.”
“Am I really that bad of a host?” Mitch chirps and you know he is trying to inject some of that light-hearted energy into the conversation. Your head turns to him, a smile on your face as you knock your shoulder against him in jest.
“You know that’s not what I meant,” the words escaping in an airy laugh and the smile stays on your lips when you hear Mitch’s quiet chuckle. “I mean, everyone downstairs is here to celebrate what’s next for them. And when the morning comes, they will all disappear back to their lives in cities far away from here with excitement for the future. Yet here I am, in the same place as before with nothing planned.”
The silence comes again, settling over the two of you like the blanket of untouched fallen snow in the yard beneath your perch.
“I get it,” Mitch says, his voice once again being the first to shatter the nighttime quiet. It was your turn to look over towards him, eyebrows furrowed in question.
“You got out though.”
“Yeah, I guess I did.”
You can hear the resignation in his voice, your eyes following the path of the champagne bottle as he raises it to his lips, taking another large drink.
“But?” you ask, your voice a gentle prodding.
“But what?”
“Nothing,” you spit out, tearing your gaze away from him. “It just sounded like there was more to that sentence.”
The silence falls again between the two of you. But this time, it is sharp and brittle, like the thin ice that frosted the puddles that formed in your backyard every spring. You don’t want to look over to Mitch, half expecting to hear him crawling back into the house, leaving you alone in the winter night once more. But that isn’t what he does.
Instead, you feel the nudge of a shoulder against yours. You turn your attention back to him and are somewhat surprised to see the soft smile on his face.
“You think I would’ve learned that I can’t hide anything from you,” he murmurs, that smile still tugging at his lips and there it is again, that pang in your heart, the one that feels like you’re being called back down to earth after being lost in the atmosphere for too long.
Mitch continues to look at you and you can see the sadness that painted his features. You don’t know exactly what to say but your body thinks for you as you scoot closer to him until you can feel the warmth of his body seeping into your own.
“Tell me,” you whisper. Mitch sighs and you can’t stop the trill in your heart as his body leans closer to yours.
“I also feel like I’m running out of time,” he says. You stay silent, letting him get his thoughts in order, knowing that what he needs right now is a listening ear.
“You know how I said that 25 is ancient to some people?” he asks, looking to you and you nod your head in confirmation. “It really feels like that when it comes to hockey. I mean it honestly seems that once you’ve hit your late twenties, your done for. Or at the very least, you aren’t the player people focus on. And – I don’t know – maybe it’s the fact that most players do retire in their thirties and I’m slowly getting closer to that age. The end just feels like it’s creeping up on me.”
Mitch takes another pause, turning his own face towards the sky.
“I sometimes feel like I’m losing people’s attention. And I know that maybe sounds selfish – “
“It’s not.”
“But I want to know people care about me as a player. But if I’m not good enough for them, why would they still want me?”
“Mitch,” you speak, your words sounding like a plea. “You just broke a franchise record; you are still one of the names people associate with the current Toronto Maple Leafs. People know who you are, Mitchy,” you try to encourage him. “People love you.”
“Until I disappoint them,” he mutters and you knew exactly where that anger that tinged his words came from; the cascading criticism that fell during last year’s playoffs.
Mitch’s hand raises, ready to take another drink, content to let the alcohol dull the edges of his emotions. You once again move without thinking, your hand flying out and stopping the bottle before it reaches his lips. Mitch looks over to you, the surprise in his eyes.
“Then don’t listen to them,” you say, your voice now taking on a harsher tone. “Especially those people who act like you’re a penny that they can discard when you no longer shine. You have people who do, and will, love you. People who will always be proud of you and support you, no matter what you do. Remember that.”
Mitch is staring at you again, those pale blue eyes sinking into you, pulling you in, as if he created his own gravity that you were helplessly caught in.
“You have always been a star.”
Neither of your move, your eyes still locked together as you sit with your thighs pressed against each other. It isn’t until you see a grin tug at the corner of Mitch’s lips that you relax.
“So you think belong up there?” he asks with a small nod of his head, gesturing to the sky above. A smile appears on your own face before you lay back, your spine connecting with the shingles, gaze turned upwards once more.
“Wouldn’t it be easier? Being a star?” you muse. “A million miles away from everything, having no other purpose but to shine, to burn bright and beautiful.”
Mitch gently takes your cup from you and out of the corner of your eye, you glimpse him stretching out to place it and the almost empty champagne bottle on the windowsill before copying your movements, coming to recline next to you on the rooftop.
“It would be nice,” Mitch acknowledges, his own eyes trained to the few glimmers of light dotting the ink-black midnight.  “I wish we could see more of them,” he hums and you can’t stop your head from turning towards him, his own words echoing the exact thought that crossed through your mind earlier that very night.
Your eyes stay locked to him, his profile dimly illuminated by the streetlights below, the gentle rise and fall of his chest. It is a moment before you turn your gaze to the sky again, another sigh falling from your own lips.
The two of you rest there in silence, eyes trained on the stars, before a memory tugs at the corners of your mind.
“Do you remember when we used to lay on the trampoline in your backyard and stare up at the sky?”
“And you would point out constellations to me?”
Another gentle smile pulls at your lips as you recall those moments; moments that were so similar yet so different to the one that you currently found yourself in.
“I wish we could go back to then, when we young and everything was simple. Before we knew what we know now. But we just can’t.”
“No reason we can’t pretend for a little while though,” Mitch replies and a small jolt rushes through you when you feel Mitch’s knuckles knock against your own, his skin impossibly warm. “What do you see?”
You raise your left hand towards the sky, the action inadvertently turning your body towards Mitch, nestling deeper into his side.
“Right there is Orion. He’s always pretty easy to spot because of his belt: those three stars lined up next to each other.” Your finger traces the invisible path of the stars, following the shape of Orion’s arm.
“Above Orion’s shield is Taurus – your zodiac sign,” you say, nudging Mitch gently. “The way you can spot that constellation is to look for the small cluster of stars that form the base of the V shape that makes up Taurus.” You keep your pointer finger trained upwards, backtracking to Orion and over the constellations raised arm.”
“To the left of Orion is Gemini. Their feet are first and if you continue to look that way, you’ll eventually see Castor and Pollux. Those are the heads of the twins. Castor is the brighter of the two.”
“Well, that’s mean to say,” Mitch interrupts. “Who’s to say Potluck isn’t smarter than his brother?”
The laughter that erupts from your chest is the first authentic laugh you’ve uttered since the night began; one that wasn’t laced with sarcasm or depreciation, nor was it used to hide your sadness and fear. This was the laughter that only Mitch could pull so easily from you.
“No, the star is brighter, like visually. And it’s Pollux not Potluck. You aren’t paying attention at all,” you say, glancing over at him to tease him further but feel the laughter catch in your throat.
Because those blue eyes are once again staring into the depths of you. Mitch is looking at you with such infinite tenderness, like you were the one that hung every star you named in the sky.
“Then it’s just like old times,” he whispers and it takes a minute for your mind to comprehend the words he’s just spoken.
“What do you mean?” you ask, your voice quiet as if you were afraid that if you spoke any louder you would awaken in from this impossible dream.
“Because whenever you talked about the stars, I always found myself looking at you.”
“Why?”
In the dim light you can see Mitch’s eyes take in your bewildered expression, a look that remains on your features even as that sweet smile appears on his lips.
“For someone who can see everything so clearly, it’s amazing how hard it is for you to realize what’s right in front of you,” he whispers and your breath catches again when you feel his hand graze against yours again before he continues to move, fingers lacing in between yours.
“Haven’t you heard me calling to you?” he asks, his free hand reaching out to rest against your jawline, thumb brushing over your cheek. “I’ve been calling out to you from the start.”
“But…” you start to say, the disbelief of this moment still running through your mind. “I’m just me.”
There is another small pause as you continue to stare into Mitch’s blue eyes, the sincerity of his gaze never faltering even against your doubt.
“That’s the most perfect thing about you.”
His words cause that ache to echo through your chest again, that inexplicable feeling that always appeared when you were around him. The desperate need to be close to him, to be next to him. And now, you think you understood what it was.
Not infatuation, not some fleeting feeling that would eventually burn out, just like every single pinprick of light above you. It was so much more.
The two of you move towards each other, hands still intertwined, guided by the pull in your chest, the pull of him. It was gravity, powerful and inescapable and this time, you don’t fight against it.
And when your lips meet his, the feeling settles. Because for the first time in a long you, you felt like you were exactly where you were meant to be.

10. the kindest "i hate you" followed by a contagious laugh
you have always loved the holiday season, but it's your first in toronto since moving in with mitch. most of the decorating has already been done and the snow is falling outside once again so you decided it's the perfect time to get started on your annual holiday cookie baking.
by the time you have all the ingredients ready, cookbook open to all the well-loved, dogeared pages and the christmas music playing, the door to the apartment opens signaling mitch's arrival from morning skate.
"babe?" he calls out from the entryway as he greets a very happy zeus.
"kitchen!" you respond happily, starting to mix some of the batter for the cookies.
"what is going on in here?" mitch laughs when he sees the scene, the most adorable smile adorning his face. "you're making cookies?!" he exclaims before you can explain.
"i am! i figured it was time to get started on the holiday baking."
"can i help?" mitch asks with pure excitement. although you know the process will take double the time with him helping, you can't help but laugh and give him a nod.
in no time, the kitchen is filled with your and mitch's off key singing as he dances with you while the cookies bake. decorated cookies courtesy of mitch cover the counters and your heart is soaring with love.
"alright, last batch." you announce, starting to scoop the cookie dough out of the bowl. mitch hums in response as he continues frosting another dozen cookies behind you. but suddenly out of nowhere, a sticky goop of red frosting is put on your nose.
"ha! look babe, you've got a red nose like rudolph." mitch giggles, a happy but mischievous smile on his face. just seeing the kid-like excitement on his facial features makes you grin and you can't even be mad at him for the little joke.
"i hate you." you say in the kindest voice, laughter following right behind because you probably look ridiculous but you are just the happiest you've ever been.
"i love you too." mitch laughs before coming over to give you a sweet kiss.

hi bae happy 500 🌺 may I request #121 with mitch marner?
thanks so much love! I am not a leafs fan so this honestly felt a little blasphemous. I really don’t know much about mitch but I think this is still a cute lil bit 🤍
finishing up my 500 followers celly
Tumblr media
Prompt: #121 “My friends get annoyed by how much I talk about you sometimes”
Pairing: Mitch Marner x Reader (f)
Word Count: 626
Warnings: Language, brief mention of cheating, some cute fluff
You’ve picked Mitch up from practice before, but today is different. Today, you walk in and feel like everyone knows a secret except you, like everyone heard the punchline of the joke and you completely missed it.
Upon seeing you, Mitch jumps up to come to your side, greeting you with a peck on your lips and a smile.
“Look out, everyone, it’s Saint Y/N,” Alex says in a mocking voice, doing a dramatic curtsy in your direction.
“Guess we’re not gonna hear from Mitchy for a few days, boys, so say your farewells now.”
“But when he does come back, all we’re gonna hear about for days is Y/N this, Y/N that,” Justin adds, then looks at you apologetically. “No offense, Y/N. You’re the shit.”
You hold your hand up with a smile. “Thank you, I think?”
Mitch rolls his eyes, letting the chirps hit him from every direction as he slips his hand in yours. “Can you shut the fuck up now?”
“He’s in love, boys, just let him be,” Mo’s voice cuts through, teasing as he sends you a wink. The love word makes you bristle slightly, a jolt of nerves coursing through your system.
“At least I’ve got a pretty girl on my arm,” Mitch finally says, like he couldn’t wait to get it out once the comeback came to him. “All you guys have is your right hand.”
A chorus of “ooooh”s mock him, his chirp doing nothing to save him from his thorough roasting. Mitch tugs your hand, flipping off the crowd of jeering boys behind him as you leave, a chorus of jeers and whipping sound effects following you out.
“You gonna tell me what all that was about?” you ask with a raised eyebrow as you approach the car.
“My friends get… annoyed by how much I talk about you sometimes,” he admits bashfully, sticking his hands in his pockets. “Obviously, it’s become kind of a thing.”
“And why is that, Mitchell?” you giggle, teasing.
Mitch’s cheeks flush like he’s 14 again, embarrassed at the call out. “Well, I thought that was obvious.”
“If it is, I’m lost.”
“I, um, well, you see —” he stutters, fumbling over his words as he shifts anxiously on his heels.
“Spit it out, Marner.”
He clears his throat, willing himself to look you in the eyes. “I love you, Y/N.”
Your eyes widen in shock, not expecting Mo’s words from earlier to be even remotely true. Your relationship with Mitch had been a whirlwind up to this point, straight out of a movie, down to the spilled coffee at the coffee shop. He’s sweet, charming, holds the door open for you, sends you a good morning text every day.
But still, there’s always been part of you that’s uncertain about his commitment to you, his fame and follower count intimidating the hell out of you — not to mention his bank account. You’ve been burned before, cheated on before, and the thought of this wonderful person betraying you in the same way is almost too much to bear, fighting your feelings for him and keeping him at arm’s length — emotionally, at least.
Until now. When he’s standing in front of you, professing his love for you like a dorky, teenage boy instead of a muscular man, a professional athlete who makes more money than you can even really fathom having. He’s looking into your eyes, searching yours, and you can see the sincerity in them, hear it in his voice.
It’s also in that moment that you let the walls come tumbling down, your hidden feelings for him bursting through the seams of your heart as you lean forward to kiss him.
“I love you, too, Mitch.”

17. comparing hand sizes
Tumblr media
the two of you walked out of the theatre giggling,!both of your hands intertwined. “wait, i never noticed, are your hands tiny?” mitch says as he holds your hands against his.
you giggle, seeing that your hands were not very far apart from his size. “you’re like barley an inch off from me” mitch says holding your hand up.
“is this the first time this has happened to you?” you asked, smirking at the way he examines your hand. “maybe, but they’re soft and cute and that’s all that matters”
you smile as he begins to hold your hand again. “now i know i don’t have to go soft on thumb wrestling with you” mitch says, swinging your hand.
“yeah you better not underestimate me. i will absolutely reck you”
“hm, we’ll see about that”

It was late at night almost midnight when you and Mitch decided to watch a movie on the couch. You were laying down with Mitch laying in between your legs and his head resting in your stomach on his side watching the tv. He’s not been himself since he got home, he had a tough game hours ago.
They played Boston and were shut out not being able to break the ice with a goal giving Boston the chance to score 5. Mitch was very hard on himself when it came to games like this, you both knew he was off his game and when you got home it was a slow quiet night.
You ran your hands through MItch’s hair softy not wanting him to get worked up again like he did in the car.
“You want something to eat?” you hummed out
There was a long silence between you both
“Mitch? Want something to eat?” you asked again
“Mmhm” was all he responded with
You slowly tried to get up from the couch but Mitch was making it hard since he was laying on top of you and didnt get off.It took a couple of seconds of maneuvering around him to get free. He followed you close behind to the kitchen in your apartment.
“We have left over shepherd's pie from last night?” you told opening the fridge
“Sure” you could hear him mumble
You could feel a ping in your chest at his tone of voice, you knew Mitch played the best he could tonight but still fell short and you knew he was going to be off all night. You grabbed the shepherd pie and put it in the microwave and turned to Mitch as it warmed up.
He was leaning up against the counter staring down at the floor clearly in deep thought.
“Honey” You started trying to catch his attention
He slowly looked up at you, his face clearly showing you that he didn't feel alright.
You walked over to him, wrapping your arms around his waist and looking up at him.
“Im sorry Mitchy, I know that was a rough game” you tried to comfort “But tomorrow you have a day off so you and I can take it slow”
He just sighed before he could speak “I just wanna go to bed”
You nodded leaning up against his chest as he wrapped his arms around you “We will go to bed after you eat ok?”
“Ok” he mumbled “Thank you” he whispered
“No need to thank me

Obsessed "Baby, Only You!" It filled every inch of my heart with love! May I ask what your fave Beatles album and song are? Mine are Revolver and "Dear Prudence." May I also please make a request for Jack Hughes? Anything more with him and a more stoic/quiet in public girl, would love to see where your incredible mind takes you. The way he understands and defends is just...yes! I needed that lol. Please and thank you!
i’d do it a hundred more.
(JACK HUGHES x reader)
Tumblr media
hey!! thank you so so so much literally this made my day. 🫶🏻
my fav beatle albums def are sgt peppers and help (i adore the movie), and my fav songs are the long and winding road, i want you (she’s so heavy), across the universe, sgt pepper’s lonely hearts club band and julia :))
warnings: no mature subjects, fluff, no proofread (you can tell i never proofread my stuff)
—————
you had always been a quiet kid, stoic and stern looking. that obviously lead to you having a resting bitch face, making not many people approach your phlegmatic gaze.
not many kids were your friends, forcing you to turn your back to society and do things yourself, cold walls lifting to sternly keep out outsiders.
that was,
until jack. he melted those ice walls, wiggling himself in a short period of time, to be the centre of your universe. you fell in love with this man, the way his wide smile made your lips curl into a grin, the way his blue eyed gaze was boyish and gentle, the way he reassured you when a girl tried to get his number and hit on him, he stood up for you, most important of all. he was your everything.
he understood everything about you, your reactions, how you felt in public and how you were the most loud and outgoing person on the inside, when it was just them two, locked away giggling together.
jack held your heart and kept it protected, he knew your past, and you like the back of his hand, so he made it his part to protect you from jabs that people made.
one of his teammates girlfriends took a shot in mocking you and jack was sure to glare at her and tell her off.
“why do you look like that? you aren’t even in jacks league. don’t even pretend you aren’t not trying in the relationship.” the girlfriend snootily said, her boyfriend did nothing in reply to defend you. you glanced towards jack and could see him get angry, so you squeezed his knee, but he still started to yell at the girl, making her jaw drop and her eyes open wide.
“you don’t know her!”
“don’t ever speak about her in that way!”
“don’t speak on our relationship!”
jack roughly grabbed your hand and walked you out.
“you didn’t have to do that.” you said quietly, kicking some tiny rocks on the pavement with your shoe.
“for you? i’d do it a hundred more times.”
—————
sorry if this ain’t any good but

Best Friend For Life ~Auston Matthews~
Tumblr media
summary: y/n's best friend stephanie is getting married to the best guy in the world. aka mitch marner. she is the maid of honor but the best man tends to get on her nerves whenever they're together.
word count: 3.7k
pairing: auston matthews x reader, mitch marner x stephanie lachance
notes: so i was listening to a song the other day and for some reason, i immediately thought of mitch and his wife [friends to lovers sorta]
masterlist
"promise not to get mad at me?" was the first thing stephanie said as she walked through the door of the apartment she shared with her best friend. y/n looked up from her computer with a raised eyebrow.
"what did you do?"
"how do you feel about hockey games?"
"can't stand them. why? what did you do?" she repeated, getting up from her chair and walking over to her best friend.
"we're going to the toronto game tonight."
"and i repeat. what did you do?"
"i was at the coffee shop and i ran into this really cute guy. we talked for hours and he's so sweet. asked me to go on a date with him after his game tonight."
"oh that's great. congratulations."
"but there's a catch."
"oh god. what do i have to do?"
"his best friend is single and so are you so i figured you could tag along since his friend is going to be there too."
"give me one good reason i should, steph." y/n walked into the kitchen to make her lunch. stephanie followed her quickly and clasped her hands together.
"please come with me. i think this guy might be the one. like, for real this time."
"you're lucky i love you and believe you deserve the best."
"does that mean you'll come to the game and the date?"
"let's just see how the game goes first."
"yay. we need to dress really good." steph smirked and dragged y/n into her closet, the lunch completely forgotten.
that night, y/n met mitch and was amazed at how good he treated stephanie, even though they had only met each other a few hours earlier. his best friend, however, was not as great. he did try, but it was easy to tell that he didn't want to be there.
and it only got worse from there.
over time, they both developed a mutual disinterest in each other.
and here they were, a few years later, helping their two best friends plan a wedding.
it was very obvious from the beginning that mitch and stephanie were meant to be together so it was no surprise to anyone when mitch approached y/n to ask for her help with the proposal. he had already gotten her parents approval but he knew that her best friends approval meant a whole lot to her too. he respected their relationship and treated them both well.
the only thing that mitch did that y;/n didn't like was asking stephanie to move in with him. it left y/n alone in their apartment and it felt weird. mitch had suggested that auston move in, in place f stephanie, but y/n quickly shot that idea down. she would rather live alone than live with auston.
as the two girls sat in the kitchen of mitch's house, zeus was resting his head on y/n's lap. she stroked his ear and listened to the plans stephanie wanted for the wedding.
"i'm really honored you chose me to be your maid of honor. but do i have to dance with the best man?"
"i know you and auston despise each other but it's a tradition in my family that the best man and maid of honor share the dance after the married couples first dance."
"i know." y/n sighed. "i'll do it but i won't be happy about it."
"oh thank god. mitch and i were worried we'd have to break tradition."
"i would never allow that." y/n smiled and stood up. zeus tilted his head slightly and gave her a look. "maybe i should dance with zeus instead. he's so much cuter and he actually likes me."
"that would be cute, but it's-"
"tradition. yeah i know." y/n smiled. "how did auston react when mitch told him?"
"i think he's telling him after practice today," stephanie checked her phone. "which should be over right about now."
"i hope he has the same reaction."
over at the arena, mitch and auston were the last two out of the locker room. mitch sent stephanie a text and looked over at auston.
"hey, there's something i need to tell you about the wedding."
"what is it?"
"after steph and i have our first dance, there's a tradition in her family that follows that. the best man and the maid of honor have to dance together too."
"meaning i have to dance with y/n? seriously?""
"sorry man but it's tradition. you can put aside your hatred for one night, can't you?"
"i can promise to try but i can't promise a success."
"that's good enough for me." mitch chuckled and got to his car. "you coming over for dinner? the girls are making meatloaf."
"yeah sure. why not?" auston got in his car and followed mitch to his house. he completely ignored the fact that y/n was going to be there.
the next few days were spent learning how to dance properly. auston and y/n barely made it through without killing each other, but at least they were ready for the big day.
when it arrived, y/n and stephanie were in the room with the rest of the bridal party. the hairdresser finished the last touches on stephanie's hair and she turned around.
"so, how do i look?"
"you look like a princess. mitch is going to cry." y/n smiled and wiped a tear from her own eye. "gosh, you're so lucky. mitch is probably the last good guy on earth."
"he's the best." stephanie looked in the mirror and smiled. "i love him so much. i knew from the moment i met him that this day would happen."
"i knew too. he was the sweetest." y/n smiled. "if you guys ever have kids, that child is going to be blessed with the best genes ever."
"you and auston are good looking too. and if you guys ever get over yourselves and get together to have a child, it's going to be just as beautiful as you guys."
"we're never getting together."
"i want us to have babies around the same time so they can be best friends too."
"i can try to give you that wish. but it's not going to be with auston."
"okay. as long as i get a niece or nephew to love like crazy."
"i love you, steph." y/n pulled her best friend in for a hug before there was knock on the door. auston poked his head in and covered his eyes.
"you ladies ready?"
"auston, you can uncover your eyes." stephanie giggled and shook her head, shooting a look at y/n. "let's go."
one by one, the bridesmaids made their way to stand next to the groomsmen they were paired with. when y/n walked out with stephanie, auston couldn't keep his eyes from roaming y/n's body. the dress fit her so well and her hair was styled perfectly.
'is she not wearing any makeup? holy crap. i don't think i've ever seen her wear any. has she been this perfect the whole time?' he found himself thinking. he shook the thought from his head and took his spot next to her.
"damn, matthews. you really clean up well, don't you?" y/n nudged him with her elbow and he was suddenly at a loss for words. "what's the matter? cat got your tongue? no funny remark?"
"no. sorry." he let out a breath. "thank you for the compliment. you, um, look really good too."
"i know i do." y/n smirked. "but thank you. that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."
"it can't be." auston looked at her and ran through their history in his mind. "okay. maybe that's true. and i'm sorry for that."
"you are forgiven, matthews." y/n watched as the pairs in front of them made their way out to where they needed to be. she linked her arm up with auston's, wished stephanie good luck and followed the man outside. they stopped at the end of the aisle and went to their designated locations. "you look great, mitchy." she whispered to mitch before taking her spot.
the music started and everyone stood up. when stephanie and her dad walked out, y/n glanced over at mitch. she had only seen him cry twice before in the few years she had known him. this was the third time she had seen tears in his eyes. he tried to hide it but when he looked over at y/n, he smiled.
as the minister went through the normal ceremony, auston kept looking over at y/n. she was watching the interactions between stephanie and mitch so intently, wiping away a tear or two every few seconds. auston was in complete awe of her.
at the reception, stephanie and mitch had the traditional first dance and when that was over, auston was more than eager to make his way to the dance floor. he and y/n took their places and began to dance
as they moved to the music, y/n looked up at auston.
"have you been practicing on your free time?"
"no, i swear. maybe you just make me a better dancer." he shrugged and moved her around the dance floor effortlessly.
"what's gotten into you tonight, matthews?"
"i think it's all the love in the air." he smiled.
"never would've pegged you for a romantic guy. no offence."
"none taken. i didn't expect it from myself either honestly." he spun her around a few times and when the song ended, so did their moment.
everyone else came to the dance floor to do their thing and y/n walked to the table to sit for a minute. stephanie was sitting beside her with a smile.
"auston is so into you."
"no he's not."
"oh please. i heard what he said before the wedding started. he was genuinely complimenting you. there was no hint of lying in his voice."
"he claims it's the love being in the air. i don't know what else to tell you."
even as y/n spoke those words, she couldn't bring herself to believe them. maybe stephanie was right and auston really was into her. she scanned the room and found him with mitch in the middle of the dance floor. they were having the time of their lives and y/n couldn't help but smile.
auston could feel someone watching him so when he looked up and locked eyes with y/n, he winked at her. she turned away shyly and sipped her drink. he thought it was cute.
y/n could feel her cheeks heating up and she hated it. she didn't like the way auston was suddenly making her feel. looking down at her now empty glass, she decided to blame it on the alcohol in her system, and as auston put it, the love in the air.
halfway through the reception, y/n was beginning to really feel the alcohol. the thing about that was it made her act differently and her voice of reason flew out the window whenever she drank.
as she downed her drink yet again, she found herself making her way to where auston was leaning against the wall. he noticed her approach him and he finished his drink.
"hey. what are you doing all alone over here? you should be having some fun. trying to pick up a girl or two." y/n giggled. why did it feel like her stomach was in knots?
"honestly, nobody here is really catching my eye." his eyes roamed the room before landing back on y/n. "might just call it a night."
"no don't." y/n sounded too eager to get him to stay so she backtracked her outburst. "i mean, it's your best friends wedding and you're the best man. you can't leave." y/n shyly looked down at her shoes.
"okay, i'll stay. but first, you gotta tell me why you hate me so much."
"what are you talking about? i hate you because on the night we met, you decided right away that you didn't like me."
"what gave you that impression?" he chuckled dryly.
"you were grumpy and it was very obvious you didn't want to be there. you put no effort into getting to know me. but i don't understand why you were grumpy. you scored the game winning goal in overtime, not to mention you had the only hat trick the entire game. that should've made you a little happier. you were so good that night. i remember telling steph 'wow. that matthews kid is really good.' like i was very impressed. and then we met and i thought you were really cute. but you had to ruin it by opening your mouth."
"you thought i was cute?"
"why do you hate me?"
"i don't. never did. i jsut really didn't want to be put on a blind double date. i hate blind dates."
"i hate them too. and i was only there as a favor to steph."
"i was only there for mitch. he was telling me during practice that he thought he met the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with and he wanted me to meet her & make sure she wasn't a serial killer or crazy in anyway."
"and look at them now. kinda crazy how they both knew right away, huh?"
"yeah. but i think it's sweet." auston looked down at her and smiled. forgetting for a second that he hated her. "i'm really happy for them though. they're good for each other."
"i agree." y/n grabbed a glass off a passing waiters tray and drank half of it in one gulp.
"do you think you'll find the person you want to spend your life with?"
"i'd like to think i will & i'm hoping it's soon. but with my luck in love, it'll probably never happen." y/n sighed. "how about you? think you'll meet her soon?"
"honestly, i think i may have already met her."
oh. well that's good." y/n looked down at her feet. "wanna dance? reception's almost over and i feel like we should get at least one more dance in, just to make the newlyweds happy." she gestured to their right where mitch and steph were dancing. they waved and danced away.
"sure. what harm can it do?"
the two of them walked out onto the dance floor and just as they were getting into the beat of the song, it ended and a new slow song started. y/n froze and looked at auston. he grabbed her hands and placed them where they needed to be before he guided her across the dance floor.
they locked eyes and it suddenly felt like they were the only people around. to everyone but them, it was obvious there was an attraction between them.
when the song ended, y/n stayed with her arms around auston's neck as they swayed back and forth.
"so there's really nobody here that catches your eye?" y/n asked, bringing up part of their earlier conversation. she played with her thumbs behind his neck and one of them wrapped itself in a curl that was loose.
"actually, now that i've thought more about it, there may be one."
"wanna point her out? maybe i can talk you up to her."
"red dress, dark hair that's half up half down with curls, no makeup because she's literally perfect and doesn't need it. she's so perfect but she's dancing with the hottest guy here. i can't compete with that."
"one of those things describe steph. she's not wearing a red dress though, nor does she have dark hair. however, i am dancing with the hottest guy here."
"i know." auston smirked and twirled her around. when he pulled her back, he was holding her tighter. "you look so beautiful right now. and not just tonight. every night since the night i met you."
"auston, are you drunk?"
"maybe a little. but i'm coherent enough to know what i'm saying and i'm sober enough to tell you that i mean it."
"auston, please don't lie to me."
"why would i need to lie to you?" he looked down at her and y/n searched his eyes for a sign of him lying. there wasn't one. "i've always thought you were beautiful. gorgeous even. out of my league for sure. and i'm genuinely sorry that i never really said anything about it."
"please don't apologize. i wasn't exactly the nicest person to be around so that must've made it difficult for you."
"difficult, yes. but worth it? totally. 100% worth it."
"do you think that if mitch and steph hadn't dragged us both on that date that night, then maybe we would have a different history than the one we do?"
"what do you mean?"
"i mean, if they had invited us to a group thing instead and that's how we met, do you think that we could've been friends these last few years?"
"for sure." auston smiled. "and maybe, if we had been friends and i asked you on a proper date, you could've said yes."
"i think i would've." it was y/n's turn to smile. "but hey. we're both still young and have plenty of life left to live. why don't we go out tomorrow night?"
"that sounds like it could be fun." auston chuckled. "and just to be clear, it'll be just us, right? no one else."
"yes. just us."
"great. i'll pick you up at 8 then."
"it's a date." y/n smiled as auston spun her around.
the following night, y/n was getting ready for the date when stephanie facetimed her.
"oh, who you getting ready for?"
"believe it or not, i'm going on a date with auston."
"oh my god. finally!" mitch cheered from the other end of the phone. his face appeared on the screen and he was sporting a large smile. "i'm so tired of hearing him pine over you."
"you're exaggerating, mitchy." y/n shook her head. "how's the honeymoon you guys?"
"it's perfect. thanks for the suggestion." steph was back on the screen. "and thanks for agreeing to take care of zeus while we're gone."
"of course. i love zeus." y/n smiled and looked at the dog, whose head was resting on y/n's lap. "who's the bestest boy? you are. yes you are."
"have fun on your date, sweetie. make sure to tell me everything afterwards."
"always. see you guys later." y/n hung up the phone and finished doing her hair. "which dress should i wear zeus?" she held up a yellow dress and zeus tilted his head. she then held up a blue dress and he barked. "thank you, zeus." y/n changed quickly and looked at herself in the mirror. "what do you think?"
zeus barked and tilted his head.
"you're so cute." y/n grabbed her purse and walked to the door when she heard a knock. "okay, zeus. i'll be back in a few hours. there's plenty of food in your bowl and your treat ball is filled so you should be fine."
y/n opened the door and auston handed her a small bouquet of orange chrysanthemums, her favorite.
"how did you know?"
"i remember you telling mitch one day that you loved chrysanthemums and how your heart would be complete if someone ever gave you the orange ones specifically. i didn't know what the different colors meant but i did some research shortly after that night and i've wanted to give you a bouquet of orange ones ever since. delicate love, right?"
"yeah. exactly." she ventured into the kitchen to grab a vase and filled it with water. "i can't believe you even remembered that. i told him like 4 years ago."
"i know. um, you may not believe me but i had a list of all your favorite things. i don't have it now because i memorized it but i figured i'd let you know."
"auston, this is so uncharacteristic of you. but i appreciate the attentiveness. no guy has ever done anything like this for me before."
"i know. it's unfortunate but you deserve it. you deserve someone who is willing to treat you like a queen. someone who can't get you out of his head, even if he tried. because you are so perfect, it's crazy."
"auston?"
"hmm?"
"stop talking." y/n smiled and pecked his lips. "you are so sweet, matthews."
"hold on just a second." he kissed her again but this time it lasted longer than a simple peck. she wrapped her arms around his neck and his found a place resting gently on her waist. auston was the first to let go of the kiss but they were both smiling from ear to ear.
"no guy has ever kissed me like that before. wow." y/n smirked.
"well all the other guys have been really stupid. and i'm not ashamed to admit that i'm part of that list."
"you're also a lot smarter than all the other guys i've been interested in." y/n's hand reached up to rest against his cheek.
"has anyone ever told you how perfect you are?"
"you did last night while we were dancing." y/n smiled and looked into his eyes. "and for the record, you're pretty perfect too."
"does that mean we're....perfect together?"
"corny joke aside, i think we might be."
"good." he smirked and kissed her again. their date was pretty much forgotten at this point as y/n pulled him through her apartment and into the living room.
auston sat on the couch and held y/n's hips as she straddled him. she looked into his eyes and felt herself getting lost in them.
"just so you know, i never bring a guy home on the first date."
"i know. and technically, if you count the blind date when we met, this is technically our second date." he smirked in response.
"it was a disaster and i feel now that our relationship has crossed the friendship line, we should just forget about the night we met."
"deal." auston smiled and they sealed their deal with a kiss. several kisses to be exact.
