Hypothetical titles for season sixteen of 88

The academy. Season premiere. Part one. Findlay’s out for Lucia’s blood when she finds out that Barnaby has been accepted into The Cabal Academy in California. First appearance of Winslow Fegley as Barnaby Sullivan and Walker Scobell as Jonah Sullivan.

Orientation. Season premiere. Part two. Sidney accompanies Barnaby to the Academy’s parent and child orientation weekend. With this episode Barnaby Sullivan is downgraded to a recurring role

Three branches. Birch’s team, ACS&Associates and Solaris’s squad band together when the precinct burns down overnight.

Empty nest syndrome. Jonah, feeling suffocated by a very clingy Findlay, sneaks away to Drummond’s apartment in Greenwich to get some time for himself.

Kicking her ass into gear. Drummond admits Findlay back into Melinda’s office to combat her empty nest syndrome. Guest starring Alfre Woodward as Dr Melinda Crenshaw.

Family law. With the precinct rebuilt. The team help Maybelle on a missing persons case involving her ex husband. Final appearance of Paul Rudd as Conrad Rhys. Guest starring Laverne Cox as Maybelle Archer an Liv Hewson as Conrad and Maybelle’s child Mattie Rhys

Mixed doubles. Drummond’s satyr instincts cause trouble when Odessa signs them up for a charity tennis tournament with Lysander and Tina.

Au naturel. The team takes a case involving a ritualistic murder at a male oriented nudist colony located just outside Long Island Sound. Guest starring Henry Cavill as Christopher Laurent the centaur leader of the Laurie Colly.

The celestial funeral. The Christensen family gathers together to say a last goodbye and renewed hello to Adam and Eve. First full appearance of Matt Lanter and Adrienne Palicki as Adam and Eve Christensen.

Contrition. Findlay has to deal with a seemingly new and improved Eve begging her for forgiveness for the hurt she caused the Five Families

A steely grey Christmas. Midseason finale. Part one. Barnaby has decided to stay at the Academy for Christmas which, naturally, does not go over well with Findlay.

A steely grey Christmas. Midseason premiere. Part two. Odessa, Cain and Derek play a Christmas Carol on Findlay’s dreams to get her out of her holiday funk. Guest starring Lucas Till as Cain Christensen and Daniel Radcliffe as Derek Christensen.

To forgive, benign. Birch’s team works to reunite the werewolf cub with his pack before his pack finds them. This is a crossover episode continuing on from the Cabalibu episode To Were(wolf) Is Human

Running mate. Part one. President DuPont asks Findlay a favour that she feels morally required to turn down. Guest starring Amy Acker, Liz Hurley, Meryl Streep and Anna Sophia Robb as the DuPont family.

Presidents of politics past. Part two . As a compromise. Findlay holds a seance for the DuPont family to help the president decide wether she should run for reelection or not. Guest starring Melissa McCarthy and Kathryn Hahn as Amelia and Marguerite DuPont

The devil wears Manolo’s. Lucia takes over Jonah’s tutelage for the day while Andy is otherwise unavailable causing Findlay no end of stress.

Dry. A run of the mill investigation into a daylight axe murder becomes delicate when the suspect makes their escape through a mosque at the height of wedding season.

A little party never killed nobody. Arlene gets confronted by an old friend at her Fifth Avenue set birthday party. Guest starring Anna Kendrick as Sandra Kilmer

How the other half lives. Arlene tries to prove to Sandra that she hasn’t changed her principles. But it looks like Sandra has an ulterior motive for her visit

oh my goodness thank you i've been waiting for this. i'm using this as an excuse to talk about lisia. sorry if you were expecting otherwise but we need to talk about lisia. we need to. it's time.

if you didn't know this about me i am absolutely fascinated with the psych and sociology behind the entertainment industries, child stars, and what alyson stoner calls the "toddler to trainwreck industrial pipeline". lisia and the maple twins are three representations (of many) of how fame can fundamentally change a child's life

fino disappears from the public eye shortly after calming groudon, leaving hoenn to build an idealized legacy for him (he gets better)

may is poorly received from the beginning due to the love people have for fino, creating a highly tumultuous adolescence with multiple public fights and breakdowns (she gets better)

lisia is........... LOL still struggling. lisia spends her whole adolescence being controlled by contracts, and internalizes her stress & trauma while keeping up a good public image. only well into her 20s does she start talking about how industry life affected her. she's still very much in the process of unpacking her life and finding her identity

lisia befriends fino and may entirely separate from one another, and their friendships with lisia is basically the only thing they have in common until they're adults. both of them offer a compassionate and empathetic perspective to lisia's struggle, and provide a private space for her to be herself and not worry about how she's perceived. lisia's relationships with the twins are supportive, earnest friendships in a sea of people who want to exploit and profit off of her -- they are the core reasons for her coming out triumphant over the idol industry.

fino loved contests before he became a Hero (TM) -- when he disappears, he still makes time for lisia, and encourages her efforts to break free and be her own person. they start writing songs together. may doesn't gel with contests, but they're inseparable friends who keep each other grounded during a time when all eyes are on them. lisia starts to see may as the only person who understands her. it's a little charming. then her managers tell her may is a bad influence and forbid them from hanging out -- then it's a LOT charming. women love bad bitches etc etc. may is not a lyrical collaborator, but she is, unknown to anyone but lisia, a muse.

anyway may & fino growing into competent adults with strong senses of identity is the catalyst for lisia to break her contracts when she turns 18 and start thinking about who she is when she's not putting on a public performance. fino helps her to "disappear" for a while to focus on herself. she falls in love with her culture & heritage, and starts training under wallace to succeed him as the keeper of the origin temple. she starts training with may, and eventually takes up wallace's mantle as sootopolis gym leader. she starts forming her own social circle, but may and fino are always close to her heart.

she's done with performing, but is a stronger and more successful songwriter than ever, selling multiple #1 hits to other artists. then she starts publishing her own albums -- rich, storytelling-based concept albums exploring hoenn mythology and modern archetypes. no longer a doll controlled by the industry, lisia becomes an independently-published poet, finally recognized for her own merit and allowed to create the art she wants. longtime fans love her intense ballads about the industry, about falling from pedestals, about being kept in music boxes and patched with superglue. critics praise her folktale-inspired collections, reimagining ancient sootopolitan stories about heroes of old. international youth hear a totally fictional concept album about a young trainer with the world on her shoulders and the rival that follows her all the way to victory road, and they make it a cult classic.

also wallace and steven are epic fucking divorced and she's the driving force behind getting them back together and remarried. she is 100% puppeting fino and may in order to orchestrate this. this is funny to me and toki only because they have a huge wedding, and the only time fino ever openly communicates is when he's schwasted

lisia was booboo bananas infatuated with may for like all of their adolescence. it's NOT A LOVE TRIANGLE i hate love triangles. she moved on from it a long time ago and there are no issues in their friendship. but fino LOVES embarrassing people with stupid moments from their childhood. it's his god-given duty. ESPECIALLY if it's going to ruin may's night

Hypothetical titles for season 23 of 88.

Unbridled. Season premier. Part one. The hunt Navillus is interspersed with therapy sessions that Jones urged Findlay to have with Melinda. Meanwhile. Navillus seeks some unexpected help.

Synchronicity. Season premier. Part two. Navillus’s escapades have an unwanted bit unfortunately useful effect on Findlay. Guest starring Matt Smith as the Boogeyman.

Not a girls girl. The team tracks Navillus down to New York’s red light district. Which ends with Findlay in a rather nasty situation.

Family only. Her pride and ego bruised, Findlay refuses to let anyone into her room while she’s recovering from her accident. Can Sidney and their boys get through to her?

Listen to mother. Navillus heads to England with a proposition for the Queen Mother. Guest starring Meera Syal as Nadine Burton, Dev Patel as Reuben Burton and Naomi Scott as Chantelle Burton.

All hail the queen mother. Navillus’s idea is as follows. To get her daughter back on side and reunite her with her wife and son. All Nadine has to do is recreate the British empire. Starting with America. Guest starring Rhianne Barreto as Rani Burton.

Whose side are you on? As Navillus and Nadine’s army prepares to march on manhattan, Findlay is offered an alliance from two very surprising sources; the Boogeyman and a professional thief with a distant and indirect connection to Delaney. Guest starring Ben Barnes as Ernie “Silvertongue” Roche

Reclamation. Odessa finally has enough with being left out of the loop and makes a deal with Derek Christensen to help take down Navillus once and for all. Guest starring Daniel Radcliffe as Derek Christensen. Final appearances of Navillus Yaldnif and Meera Syal as Nadine Burton

Mortem mutua tibi. Cleaning up the mess Navillus made leads Findlay into investigating Chambers mysterious, and most likely false, death.

Paper trail. The investigation into Chambers fake death leads to Arlene gaining a large inheritance and an extremely substantial extended family

The Charleston. Clyde celebrates his mother’s death by hosting a blow out party at the Oberon Hotel.

Minutes to hours. Midseason finale. Part one. Incensed at what she sees as disrespect towards Noreen’s memory, Deloris abducts Clyde and attempts to torture him into giving up his claim to their father’s fortune.

Hours to days. Midseason premiere. Part two. It’s almost Christmas and the team still have no idea where Clyde’s being held. But Butterball has a workable theory. Final appearance of Liz Gillies as Deloris O’Bannon.

Televangelism. Needing to blow off some steam. Findlay and Godfrey team up to take down a televangelist during her live stream debut.

Fads. Gideon finds out the dark origins of the latest celebrity diet.

Inside the soap dish. Findlay finally gets to experience a week as a character in The Mages And The Mundane when Theo’s unconscious spell work gets her sucked into the television. Guest starring Chris Pratt as Emerson Davenport/Jameson Oarlock, Aubrey Plaza as Tatum Mercer/Nina Oarlock, Sally Field as Marilyn Davenport/Maria Oarlock and Bruce Campbell as Ignatius Kennedy/Onslow Norman.

No more yielding but a dream. Robin Goodfellow (Maxwell Jenkins) is back. Only locked in a single form and exiled to earth due to a prank gone wrong, a schedule mishap and wrong choice in love affair. And he wants the team’s help to get back in Oberon’s good graces. By any means necessary.

The old retainers. Captain Birch is asked to liaison a case involving a breaking at the Wilmington Estate that was foiled by the heads of staff while the rest of the Five Families were at The Met to celebrate Jones’s 323rd birthday. Guest starring Sam Witwer as the butler Leopold Sterling, Stephanie Beatriz as the housekeeper Ermentrude Mando and Ludi Lin as the chef Dorian Holloway.

Unreliable. Maybelle, Aida and Jacob have 10 hours to figure out if a woman is lying about an assault or not.

The torment of a satyr as a young foal. Drummond’s biological uncle is back and in so much trouble with his former ally’s that he’s disguised himself as his younger self. Guest starring Iain Armitage and Jim Parsons as Parson Elmer Carothers.

What was it that Ellis Grey said? Season finale. Part one. Findlay finds herself the target of the all female SATFDONYS. Aka. Society Against The First Daughter Of New York State. First appearance of Lucy Hale as Abigail Mordaunt.

The bitches of Eastwick. Season finale. Part two. Findlay is highly amused when Gideon manages to track down Mordaunt’s place of origin.

Buzzwords. Season finale. Part three. Jacob and Andy get to the bottom of why Mordaunt wants to bring Findlay down to her level.

The rocket’s red glare. Season finale. Part four. Findlay submits herself to a public mob trial as the New York Giants play the championship game. Guest starring Mia Wasikowska as Zara Roche (nee Christensen)

The magic kingdom. Season premiere. Part one. Sidney and Findlay head off on the Disney cruise for their second honey. But Findlay has a nagging suspicion that they’re being followed.

A fifth avenue family vacation. Season premiere. Part two. The entirety of the Five Families descend upon the happy couple for “family togetherness”. Meanwhile. David coaches Clyde and Tina through their seasickness.

Back to front. Join Captain Birch on a highly confusing case that seems to start with the arrest and seems to end with the crime.

Good, bad and worse. Findlay, Sidney and Drummond’s let rip when they interrogate an unrepentant serial killer who will only tell them that nobody ever misses the boys. Guest starring Jenny Slate as Sad Clown Mona.

The r word. Clyde’s mother attempts to sue Findlay for full custody. Pointedly ignoring the fact that Clyde is in his thirties and Findlay is only his legal next of kin. Guest starring Debra Messing and Liz Gillies as Noreen and Deloris O’Bannon

Never hire a hooker at a government funeral. The team attends the funeral of Eamon Corman in Scotland and meets his son Edmond (Ty Tennant). Meanwhile. Jaspers indiscretion at the funeral could spell ruin for the Downey’s. Also guest starring Miranda Hart, Tom Ellis and Jack Whitehall.

Raise a little hell. Drummond gets an unwelcome surprise when he finds out they he inspired Tina to bankroll a revival of Bonnie and Clyde.

RBS (Responsibility BullShhhh). Barnaby and Jonah fall victim to the trappings of their lives when they end up losing Theo at the mall.

Gold star. Maybelle, Aida and Jacob have to decide whether or not to represent a lesbian woman who killed her girlfriend after the girlfriend came out to her as bisexual.

Spin the wheel. Lysander accompanies Tina back home to England as she supports her family through Jasper’s scandal. Guest starring Dani Harmer as Harriet Downey and Karen Gillan as Ms Leslie Korn.

Class three kill storm. The Five Families help New York batten down in preparation for possibly deadly blizzard.

Averse to tradition. Midseason finale. Part one. Jones and Skipper get into a blazing row when Skipper and Oswald won’t allow Theo take part in the 200 turkeys tradition.

Battle of the grandmothers. Midseason premiere. Part two. Oswald’s mother (returning guest star Catherine Zeta Jones) drops by for Christmas to visit Theo for the first time ever and immediately butts heads with Delaney who has made an unwise attempt at a dry Christmas for the first time since Skipper graduated college.

Awards season. The Mages And The Mundane sweep the Daytime Emmy Awards for the 88th year in a row. But Emerson’s acceptance speech threatens to throw Findlay’s entire life schedule into disarray.

What’s best for us. Part one. After Donovan decides to Move On to Heaven, Beaumont and Winnifred decide to Take Their Leave with Celestine electing to join them. Which puts a great deal of stress on Leland, Delaney and Jones. Final appearances of Bill Murray, Donald Sutherland, Whoopi Goldberg and Wendie Malick

It isn’t about us. Part two. Unable to take over his inheritance due to being in charge of the Supreme Court, Leland puts Zoey in charge of the Mulligan Estate. Wholly unprepared for the responsibility, Zoey lets slip a secret to Findlay about Clementines death that she’s been holding on to for nine years.

The easter baby. Andy throws a blowout block party for his umpteenth birthday. Guest starring Kristen Bell as The Easter Bunny.

Exempt. Andy helps Oswald and Skipper out with a problem with Theo without letting them know he’s the cause of the preteens change of attitude.

Canoodling. Tina goes a little unnecessarily off kilter when Skipper and Zoey get trapped inside the Wilkins family’s panic room.

Legal limit. The twins 21st birthday is coming up. And Barnaby persuades Findlay to acquiesce to a dinner with Jonah and Jack.

Better as friends. Now that Clyde and David are officially together. David has to find a way to let an extremely enamoured Macy down as gently as possible

The Oberon haunting. Sidney, Drummond, Jones and Sawyer get trapped in the basement of the Oberon during an unprecedented spectre infestation, forcing them to fight their way out before the fumigators arrive at dawn.

Portraits. Season finale. Part one. The team returns to Meadowlark Retirement Home when they learn of a resident who was just admitted for hospice care due to being in a state of constant, paralysing pain since 1916 which is tied to an incredibly famous painting. Guest starting Michael Sheen as Ewan Harvard and Joseph Quinn as Dorian Gray.

Mommy it’s here anymore. Season finale. Part two. The portrait is sent to the precinct in hopes that Lucia and Andy can negate its hold on Dorian. But a problem arises when Findlay learns that the painting must ALWAYS be occupied. One way or another. First appearance of Navillus Yaldnif
