SONG OF THE WEEK “Avenue” (a demo) https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/avenue-demo A song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Mark Osachoff. He fronted an Ontario-based alt-pop band called Anthill. They made an excellent record and toured for a spell, opening for the likes of The Verve and Wilco. The song endeared itself to me and I hope to record a full band version of it someday. I asked Mark what the song was about and he replied, “Recovery from addiction. Recovery from the mess of compulsion and codependence. Restoring intimacy, love, and trust.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK OSACHOFF + SUNDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO: “LIVE AT SMMC!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwENobuUAE4
This set is culled from an online benefit concert for the San Mateo Medical Center Music & Healing Concert Series, a project created by Frances Ancheta Baker, singer-songwriter and creative arts therapist. San Mateo Medical Center was featured in Newsweek Magazine as one of the top 400 nursing homes in the USA, gaining a reputation for innovative and compassionate care to the most vulnerable and ethnically diverse populations of San Mateo County (California)—including many uninsured, minority, psychiatric, and chronically ill populations. The Music and Healing Concert Series is part of the SMMC's mission in providing a holistic and healing environment for the patients who need help and support, providing a calming, humane experience in a sometimes overwhelming and intimidating environment. I'm glad to be part of this "music as healing" movement in assisted living homes in California and Oregon. I was one of 10+ acts (including my friend Chris von Sneidern) that played in this 3-hour online concert marathon (read technical note below*). My set list: 1. Avenue (written by Mark Osachoff, whose birthday is today) 2. Love, Love Alone 3. Daydream Believer
youtube
*Technical Note: This online concert required a tremendous amount of bandwidth--hence the grainy visual and sporadic "skipping" in the audio. Do not adjust your set--your computer is fine.
