M*levens will say Will’s love for Mike is ‘just a crush’ or that ‘he can/will get over it’ whereas El’s love for Mike is real and true and deep, too strong for her to possibly move on from…while in the same breath try and claim Will’s words/feelings in the van also belong to El. Make it make sense 🙂 they'll say Will's feelings = El's feelings to explain why the monologue is valid even though Will was the driving force behind it, but then turn around and say Will's feelings ≠ El's feelings which is why he'll move on but El can't, and why El’s love for him is deeper and why she‘s better for him. It's a total paradox.

Consider the "I'm the only one who cares about him" but in reverse. Will just being adamant about helping or protecting Mike
Or realizing with dawning horror that he's the "only" one that cares about Mike

I physically can't wait another 2-3 years for season 5
Jo didn't need Laurie in the way Laurie thought he needed her. They were better off as friends which Laurie grew to accept and realized his love for Amy was under his nose all along which was brought with much speculation on Amy's part which is understandable. Laurie didn't need Jo. Jo didn't need Laurie. Jo was better off without laurie. She was/is successful without laurie. She is happy without laurie. The only reason she questioned herself is because she needed someone, someone Laurie couldn't be for her. Not in the way she wanted/understood she needed. She needed a friend much more than a lover. Someone to be there for her in times of aid, a best friend. Which he regrew to be in a much healthier way. Mike is El's laurie. El is Mike's Jo. Amy is to Laurie what Will is to Mike.

anyway thinking abt mike/el’s storylines n the ways they compare n contrast... how El is having memories of how someone tried to take advantage of her loneliness and a shared experience to take advantage of her and control her for their own benefit... and how Mike is feeling something but doesnt know what it is, and Will is feeling the same way but doesn’t think Mike feels the exact same way he does... how they both still click, how they both want to reach out and hold on to one another but are afraid because they both think, as Robin said for us earlier, “I ask out the wrong [girl], and bam, I’m a town pariah.
it’s frustrating as viewers but also sweet that both Will and Mike refuse to make assumptions about one another cuz they both know what that’s like and how assumptions have been used to bully each of them respectively n just... gahhhh. i want them to really see each other by the end of this season so very badly.. </3

I still can’t believe we all fully expected more people to get Vecna’d this season and that Max/Episode 4 was just the sign of things to come, and then that didn’t happen in the slightest

Theory time.. strap in for this one...
So as we know in the van scene Will uses El as a shield for his confession. And we thought Mike didn't notice and thats why he acted the way he did. WRONG. he DID notice. This man was nodding looking at Wills lips and choking back emotion (literally you can physically see him swallowing). the reason Mike didn't outright say anything is because HE wasn't ready. you have to realize, Mike doesn't have the same support system as Will does. Its easier for Will to consider his feelings because his brother fully accepts him for it and (most likely) Joyce would too because cmon, it's Joyce. But for Mike, his family doesn't have the best track record for really being "there" for him. So he hasn't really had anyone have his back. Which leads me to my next point, the "confession scene". Now, is this scene painful because of Wills face? Absolutely. Can I still see thru the bs to know its not genuine? also yes. During this scene Mike is saying alot of things that seem, for the track record, untrue. For example, Mike saying his "life started the day he found her in the woods". Here's what I think is going on in this scene. Mike DOESNT know what to say to El to make it sound genuine. So what is he doing? The EXACT thing Will did in the van (plus adding the superhero thing so it sounded more like her which is just eugh Mike cmon we've been over this). The monolog seeming like a complete lie because of him saying "his life starting the day he found her in the woods" sounds weird because it isn't ABOUT her. The day Mike found El in the woods he wanted to get her to leave as soon as it was morning (he only kept her around because she was able to help look for Will). So that doesn't make any sense, he didn't want her there so that was clearly a lie. But do you know who Mike DID obsesses over like his life DEPENDED on it??? Will. He is using his feelings for Will to El because he doesn't know what else to say to make anything sound genuine. That's why he says he can't say he loves her cus hes too scared that would make the day that "she" leaves hurt more. He's not talking about El. He's talking about Will. He's too scared that if he tells Will how he feels that Will would leave and it would hurt more.
Conclusion: Mike is a moron (affectionate)

Y’all know there’s a season 5 right?
If you remember, the next season is going to take right after where we leave off this season. Will can come out, Jonathan and Nancy can break up, etc etc. The whole point of a tv show is to make you feel (both good and uncomfortable), that’s the point of tension and drama. All these things can be resolved, if this weren’t true, they wouldn’t have a next season (which was planned since the show was pitched to Netflix).
TLDR; they want you to tune in for the finale because you want to know how things they pent up through out the show to end.

Maybe it’s because I’m a reformed mike hater but I don’t really get surprised when people dislike him. Like, as a casual viewer you see him do confusing things and he’s cast in an unsympathetic light when compared to el and Will (after season 2)
Obviously I think people will do a 180 when his actions are actually explained, but for now I think it’s understandable that most of the GA doesn’t like him. I think some people take it way too far, like the people who go on rants against him and say they dropped the show because of him are completely overreacting and don’t seem to grasp that most of what he does is normal teenage behavior.
Anyway just insert that one image that’s like “your character will be widely regarded when this is over but you’re going to look like an asshole to most for a few years” I feel like that summarizes this perfectly
