Build: Slim
Height: 5’6”
👑Personality
Diana is nothing if not dramatic and vivacious in all things. She’s proud and ambitious and she always has been. To your face, she’s sweet as can be, but behind your back she can often be quite spiteful and judgmental.
👑Bio
Diana was never a child to be told no, always the little princess of the family. Upon her brother were laden all the family burdens and expectations, but upon their little angel? Eight years younger than her brother? Only the most lavish lifestyle. If she wanted a new doll, it was hers. The prettiest dress in the seamstress’s window, also her’s. Diamonds in silver and rubies in gold? Ballet lessons? A flower garden with a maze included? A pony which she quickly tired of? She was never told no.
In fact, the first no she ever heard was when she asked to attend the Academy. She saw her brother Apollo go to the Academy every day, she couldn’t understand why she couldn’t. But when her brother dropped out of the Academy just weeks before he turned eighteen to pursue training as a peacekeeper, well her parents reluctantly agreed to allow her to attend the Academy. After all, the Hermes family parties for the Hunger Games were well known around One. They simply couldn’t not have a child at the Academy.
Diana, taking after her namesake, quickly took to shining bright at the Academy. She shined most with a bow and arrow, but quickly took to other things as well. One of those things being a boy named Onyx Ambre. She knew she shouldn’t get caught up with a boy that might one day be her competition, but it didn’t matter how hard she tried to ignore her feelings, falling for him and his charming smile was inevitable.
At sixteen, ballet lessons were forgotten, and hours spent at the Academy were more - both to spend time with Onyx and to hone in on her skills. And at seventeen, she’d made the decision to volunteer. She was the best, and that wasn’t just her opinion, so it only made sense. However, when Onyx’s little brother, following a girl who Diana had never heard, of was reaped and volunteers asked for… well Diana hesitated, how could she go into the arena when her most direct competition would be Onyx’s little brother? But before she could make a solid decision, Onyx’s voice was calling out as a volunteer.
The girl used to getting her way kept her mouth shut. If she couldn’t solidly think about the possibility of having to kill Onyx’s brother, well how could she honestly commit to the possibility when it came to the boy and his stupid charming smile? So she sat home and she fumed for the weeks that followed, muttering under her breath at every little misstep Onyx made.
But when he returned victorious, how could she stay mad at him? She’d just volunteer the following year. It was a good thing she still had another year to volunteer. But Onyx, he was changed, he didn’t want her to volunteer. He tried to convince her not to, but she was set in her ways. And though in the space of nine months they’d gotten engaged and married, she wasn’t going to back down. Diana Ambre, the newly married woman, volunteered for the 86th Hunger Games without a second thought this time.
Like her husband the year before her, Diana made it out of the arena victorious. While in the hospital just after her victory, while being treated for a concussion sustained during her arena, Diana was told she was pregnant. She was monitored for the duration of her pregnancy, but in her own district and in February following her Victor’s Ball, she and Onyx welcomed their first daughter.
In the months that followed the birth of her child, Diana took to the past time she’d held until only a few years before - that of ballet. It was something she fell easily back into, something that kept her fit and something to pour her emotions into. It was a passion that had fallen to the wayside of the allure and glory that the Academy promised.
However, less than a year later Diana found out she was pregnant again, this time with twins! A quickly growing family and she couldn’t be more excited. But that excitement quickly turned to worry when complications arose, complications that sent the family moving to the Capitol in search of even better healthcare than even District One had to offer. With the best care possible in Panem, the twins were born healthy in September of eighty-nine.
The family decided to stay in the Capitol following Onyx’s decision to open a restaurant and Diana took to dancing again, even branching out to teaching when offered a position at a dance academy in the Capitol which she does during the off season of the games while occasionally deciding to sponsor a tribute that might catch her eye during the games season.

In the Memoria/Organic AU, as Phos becomes Human, and after Memorial Diamond is born, other forms of life are reborn in the form of gems.
Burmite (Insect) - Has memories of the insects they possess, whom are from the cretaceous period, meaning they were born in the late cretaceous period. They refer to themselves as ‘We’ due to the insects.
Dendritic Agate (Flora) - A single tree/fern turned into an agate, they have been alive since the early-mid human era before the meteorites hit. They refer to all the trees as the ‘forest’, a replacement to family.
Ammolite (Aquatic Life) - Also born in the late cretaceous period, ammonite is the fossilized version of an extinct cephalopod.  They were a huge fossil when found by Memoria, and requested to be carved into the form of the ‘jellyfish humans’ (admirbili). They do not wear powder because of their constant swimming
Gembone (Fauna) - Fossilized version of a dinosaur. Is most likely older than both Ammolite and Burmite. They are mostly feral, and still attempts to eat their usual prey from their past life. Horrible at body coordination, it seems like they still retain the intelligence of their own kind. This is not true, as they do think and comprehend things like the rest of their reborn brethren, they can loosely form words, and will only speak at rare but absolutely necessary times.
I wonder, if there is one more besides these four and Memoria?

Fred and George do QVC
Find me on AO3
It was a bright, sunny, Saturday afternoon, and Harry Potter was stuck inside folding laundry. He stared longingly at the window, wishing he was anywhere but here. Lately, he had been feeling listless and filled with ennui. His life at the Dursley’s was considerably less exciting than his life at school. Albeit, he didn’t have a crazed, nose-less, master wizard, trying to murder him here; but even that might have been an improvement, to the boredom he had felt all summer. He glanced across the room at his Aunt Petunia, who lounged on the sofa, half asleep. He wondered if she’d notice if he escaped outside, for a breath of fresh air. Uncle Vernon had just left, with Dudley and his friends, to see a professional football match. This was one of the numerous birthday surprises his aunt and uncle had lavished their son with. Harry would have liked to had gone too, but he was told “the laundry wasn’t going to fold itself.”
“If I were allowed to use magic outside of school, the laundry certainly *would* fold itself.” Harry thought bitterly.
The TV chattered away in the background.
“…and just so we’re clear, these are dishwasher safe?”
“Yes, that’s right, Antonella. The Scrub Daddy is absolutely dishwasher safe.”
“And remember, you’re getting 12 of these! Order code 63528, when you call in.”
“Yes, and just quickly…because I know we are running out of time… I wanted to show you that the design for these is not just a smiley face. These are fully functional. Put your two fingers in the eye holes like so, and it stays on your fingers. That’s going to be fantastic for getting inside of mugs, cups, you name it.”
“Wow! that’s ingenious!”
The presenter turned and addressed the camera directly, holding the item for sale.
“Look! Here is what you’re getting, guys. And this packaging! Ah!  This custom packaging is exclusive to QVC, guys. And, all this could be yours, for 4 easy payments of $7.49. Amazing!”
The camera zoomed in, on the presenter’s face.
“Coming up, we have a couple of young entrepreneurs, showing us their latest confections. I’m sure we all know someone with a sweet tooth. Just wait till you see what these boys have in store for us today. But first, make sure you get your orders in for the Scrub Daddy. These things are selling like hot cakes!”
The shot cut to a pre-recorded infomercial, for Scrub Daddy sponges.
“Hmmph!” Aunt Petunia snorted “I should order some of those for you, so you’ll stop ruining my pots!”
Harry muttered under his breath “Well, if you fixed the dishwasher, instead of using me as your personal slave, I wouldn’t have to scrub the pots.”
“What was that?!” snapped Aunt Petunia, “You ungrateful little brat! After all your uncle and I have done for you; taking you in, like we did, after your parents…well…You should be ecstatic that I even offered to buy you anything!”
In a huff, she snatched the remote control off the coffee table and turned up the volume.
Harry put the folded laundry in the basket and stood to bring them upstairs.
“Up next, we have twins Fred and George Weasley, of Weasley Wizard Wheezes, here with us today. Welcome boys!”
Harry froze, gobsmacked. Much to his disbelief, there was his best friend’s older brothers, peddling their wares on QVC. One was wearing an evening tailcoat, which was neon orange with lime green polka dots. His trousers were also neon orange, but with a lime green tuxedo stripe running down each leg. The other twin was wearing the same tailcoat and tuxedo trousers, but in inverse colors to his brother. In contrast to the loudness of their jackets, both boys were wearing black cravats around their necks, giving them a ‘Victorian Regency on acid’ kind of look.
“Thanks for having us, Antonella. We’re happy to be here!” said one of the twins
“Remind us to buy a pack of those Scrub Daddies, before we leave.” said the other, “Our Dad would get such a kick out of them. Sponges with smiley faces. What a concept! Haha!”
His brother leaned into him, and theatrically whispered “We don’t need them ourselves. We can just use Malfoy’s head.” He held up two fingers in a sideways peace sign, and pretended to poke his brother in both eyes. “His hair is great at soaking up grease.”
The twins snickered together, as the presenter, unperturbed, carried on with the sales pitch.
“Fred and George have brought with them some of their Skiving Snackbox candies. Now, judging by the names of some of these, I think these would be perfect as a novelty get-well present, for someone in your life who’s been feeling a little under the weather. There’s something for every ailment. We’ve got ‘fever fudge’, ‘fainting fancies’, ‘nosebleed nougat’ and last but not least, ‘puking pastilles.’ Hehe! Now, what made you boys come up with this concept, for these sweets?”
“Well,” said Fred, “they’re not exactly for someone who’s already sick."
"That could result in some disastrous side effects.” quipped George
Fred turned to the camera and added “Always read the labels, kids!”
George continued, “They make you temporarily ill, if for example, you wanted the day off work. You pop in a fainting fancy. Bob’s your uncle-Fanny’s your Aunt, suddenly your GP has prescribed you a day of bed rest.”
“Oh, but totally 100% all muggle, I mean natural. 100% all natural.” Fred interjected
“Yes, definitely nothing magical about these candies at all.” George agreed, with a sheepish grin.
“Oh, I get it!” exclaimed the host, “That’s just like the Natural Herbal Detox Tea, we had on the show last month. This may be TMI, but I swear I was on the toilet for a week, after that segment! Hehehe!”
Fred laughed and said, “Now would be a good time for me to tell one of my poop jokes.”
George replied “Nah, they always stink!”
“Hey-oh!” they cried, while high-fiving each other.
“You know what you needed?” Fred asked the host, “The Skiving Snackbox’s companion product, ‘You-No-Poo’. Guaranteed to cause crippling constipation in less than 3 minutes!”
“The constipation sensation, that’s gripping the nation!” exclaimed George
“Well, being conscious of time, lets move right along.” Antonella said, “Our viewers at home are probably wondering ‘but how do they taste?’ Let’s find out, shall we?”
She popped a candy into her mouth, and immediately started retching.
“NOOO!” the twins shouted in unison.
“You’re not supposed to eat the whole thing at once!” lamented Fred
“You’re only supposed eat half!” followed George
“The antidote is in the second half.” continued Fred
The poor unsuspecting host began urging in a rhythmic way, “Blech...Blech...Blech...Blech...”
“Oh no!” wailed George “I think she’s stuck in vom-limbo.”
“Both sides of the sweet must be working against each other!” added Fred
“It’s simultaneously trying to make her be sick, and also keeping any sick from coming up.” George concurred.
Panic-stricken, Fred started rifling through his rugsack. He began removing items and throwing them behind him. A roll of parchment; a quill; various bottles and vials; a bowler hat; a cup of tea, complete with saucer; a set of fireworks, which exploded upon impact with the floor; a broom; a Yorkshire pudding; a literal kitchen sink...
Between urges, Antonella asked “How...blech...did...blech...you...blech...fit...blech...all...blech...that...blech...in...blech...there?”
“Never mind that now! Here, eat this!” bellowed Fred, shoving the found antidote in the host’s mouth.
Finally, the retching stopped, but with it came a lengthy spew of vomit across the set, with such ferocity it rivaled Linda Blair in the exorcist. The show quickly switched to camera angle “B” to avoid broadcasting Antonella’s lost lunch to the viewers.
“I think it’s best we...uhh...take a little break,” the presenter said shakily, wiping tears and vomit from her face. “ugh... Up next we have Ken Oschipok with his beautifully iridescent Ammolite and White Zircon silver rings...ahh...oh...just a second, my producer is telling me something...”
She touched her finger to her ear, turned away from the camera and hissed into her mic “What do you mean you can’t find the rings? A Platypus? Are…are you sure it was a platypus? How did a platypus get in here, and why would it steal our merchandise?”
Fred and George exchanged worried glances.
The presenter looked back to camera, with a wide grin plastered on her face, “Sorry guys, we are just having a little bit of...umm...technical difficulties. We’ll be right back wi...OH!”
Suddenly a red envelope swooped down out of nowhere, flicked Antonella across the nose and stopped abruptly in front of the twins. A loud but shrill voice echoed throughout the studio.
"FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY! OF ALL THE COCKAMAMIE STUNTS YOU’VE EVER PULLED — MUGGLE TV? YOU WAIT TILL I GET HOLD OF YOU! IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I RECEIVED A CALL FROM RITA SKEETER, ASKING FOR A QUOTE FROM THE DELINQUENTS’ MOTHER — I NEVER — IN ALL MY DAYS — YOUR FATHER'S FACING AN INQUIRY AT WORK ~ AGAIN! AS IF THE MINISTRY HASN’T BEEN FACING ENOUGH BACKLASH, AFTER THAT NIFFLER GETTING LOOSE, NOW THIS? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? YOU TWO COME HOME THIS INSTANT!!!"
Once the assault on everyone’s ears subsided, the presenter unsteadily staggered out of shot, with her hand on her forehead, murmuring “I think I need a nap, or a drink, or both”
The screen cut to another pre-recorded infomercial; a cheerful rock jingle began to play.
You wanna skip class, but not look like an ass? If you want an excuse; What have you got to lose? You better show some moxie, Grab a Skiving Snack Box-y From Weasley- Wizard - Wheezes!
Harry stood slack jawed, in the living room, transfixed by what had just played out on the tv in front of him. Clean laundry scattered around his feet, from where he’d dropped the basket.
“Bloody Hell! Those crazy troll bogeys!” He thought with a grin. A shocked guffaw escaped his throat.
Aunt Petunia gave him a scandalized glare and shrieked “I suppose you have something to do with this?”
Harry scooped all the laundry into his arms and dashed upstairs before she could chastise him any further. Although, he imagined any tongue-lashing Aunt Petunia could give him, would pale in comparison to the dressing down the twins were probably getting, from Molly Weasley, right now. She is one fierce boss-witch.
“Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Burrow, right now” Harry said to himself, with a chuckle. “I can’t wait to hear the details from Ron!”

NPC: Nimue DuLac (tbf)
Tumblr media
“I praise what is truly alive,
what longs to be burned to death.”
--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Real Name: Nimue DuLac
Age: unknown
FC: Golshifteh Farahani
Species & Class: Half Night-Elf Sorceress
Guild: has ties to Ammolite
 Powers:
Night Elves (officially known as Noctium) are my version of drow, but instead of being subterranean they’re entirely nocturnal, very sensitive to light and fire magic, but with a strong affinity for water and death. They tend to keep to their own and much of their culture and known background are just rumors. There are many stories about them ranging from them sacrificing weak night-elves to underwater gods in a dark covenant to gain more power, to their tears being poisonous or vital ingredients for powerful sleeping draughts.  It’s quite rare to see half-elves of this background as they tend to be ostracized by both humans (or even other elves) and by full night elves. It is thought that they were the original creators of the sprawling temple complex on level 16, though very little is actually known about their original civilization.
Although Nim is half-human, she maintains the Noctium talent for necromancy and affinity for water, particularly that of the lake which she guards. Her power and tie to the world of the living do seem bound to the phases of the moon, another vital symbol to the Noctium. She does have various forms though, and they each have slightly different specialties. As is Noctium tradition, items can be ritually killed by breaking them and given to the netherworld through sacrifice to the water and moon. Pools, swamps, and chiefly the ocean are seen as boundaries with the netherworld, where Noctium gain their power. So ritually killing an item can link it to that power, that long lineage, and the water or moon themselves. In her more mundane form, Nimue can’t raise the dead exactly. But she can link souls to items or link items to souls, imbuing them both with the powers of death/water/the moon and imbuing them with some of the life of the soul itself. This is how she herself found her way into this cycle of resurrection, linking herself to first the lake she haunts and then to the Quicksilver Longsword (one of the winnable items from her quest). In her most powerful or desperate while in her more mundane Nim form, she can even call upon the souls an item has taken, turning a player’s most treasured weapon against themselves with the vengeful spirits of those they’ve killed with that weapon.
In her more powerful form, Nimue -- as a conduit for her lake, the moon, and the full force of the netherworld -- she has much more physical control over the dead. As well as being much more physically strong than her other form, she can raise the dead of those trapped in her lake to fight whatever unlucky player triggered that route of her quest. She can also somewhat resurrect herself on command in that form, though she becomes more changed with every resurrection, melding with the thousand souls crying out from the water’s depths.
As a NPC, she seems much more alert and conscious than many others. Her dialogue is complex, and sometimes verges on prescient. In reality, her AI draws from all the choices players have made throughout the game to inform how she reacts to them and her different dialogue. Kill a certain NPC instead of save them? Choose one wrong answer in a riddle? Favor one side over another? She seems to know. This usually makes her a perfect quest for classes focused on choice making, such as Celestials. But this also makes her a very difficult mini quest for those who approach the game more randomly. And, more randomly, in her full Nimue form she seems to be gaining knowledge of other things players are doing beyond the pre-scripted choices they make in certain quests.
Appearance: Players can pick up Nimue’s quest at various points throughout the game, and there are a few cameos of her in different NPC forms on different levels to hint at her background before her quest begins. But most players first see her as a humble herbalist in the lonely wilds of the Valley of Monsters. There, she wears the same buttoned blouse, embroidered vest, plain skirt, and various leather bags full of mysterious odds and ends, though the colors vary depending on the day. Overall, her look is reminiscent of traditional scandinavian folkwear. She wears her long, loosely curled black hair loose, sometimes absentmindedly tucking feathers or twigs or bird bones behind her ear. Her eyes are wide and somewhat sad, tired in the way of something ageless and knowing. But when she meets someone’s eyes, she stares through them as if she is peering through a rippling pool to see what lies beneath.
“I turned and ran
To save a life I didn't have.”
--In the Woods Somewhere, Hozier
Places Most Likely to be Found In-Game: around her lake in the valley of monsters. She is pretty much trapped there as that is where her mini quest is picked up. Different dialogue options will hint at her having traveled across various levels, and she may even give some veiled hints for the maze in the Midwinter level and the Faerie Court depending on how players interact with her.
Item Drops:
She can be a source of healing potions for players grinding in the Valley of Monsters, as well as a simple healing spot. Stay in her cabin and you’ll wake fully healed.
There are different routes for players who’ve activated her quest, all depending on their specific interactions with her. These routes also determine which items players will gain from her quest, and ultimately which strategies will be necessary to finish her quest (most often by killing her or neutralizing her so she sleeps again at the bottom of her lake). The most common item people go for are Noctium Tears, a potent ingredient in sleeping draughts, poisons, and hallucinogenic potions which can provide prophetic visions for future levels. This is definitely the more practical item drop, and usually coincides with the more gentle end to Nim’s quest, simply laying her to rest again or trapping her once more to hold off the cycle of resurrection for a time. The more powerful though admittedly more unpredictable and possibly disastrous item she gives players would be the Quicksilver Longsword, a blade imbued with all her anger, guilt, roving curiosity, and trapped energy. This is the trickier route to set up, though ultimately the most difficult to finish although the most rewarding in terms of XP. This route requires Nim to transform into Nimue, where Nim is just one voice among thousands and the true power of the Netherworld is unleashed as she tries to break free from her lake prison. The sword is the only true piece of Nim left, and its powers of transformation and connection to the moon make it one of the most useful weapons in actually defeating Nimue.
Along with the main items she drops, Nim can also be a source of unique apparel for those focusing on the medieval aesthetic, a guide to acquiring valuable herbs in the Valley of Monsters, one of many NPCs to gift certain magical scrolls to players, and a source of information on runes themselves.
Strongest character trait: wise and melancholic
Player Stats: (She has two sets of stats based on the path the player chooses, that of Nim and that of Nimue. Nimue is inherently stronger, although Nim is much more manipulative. Players may choose to handle either of them in different ways, either typically through force or in much subtler ways. I wanted her normal stats to be similar to a PC, but her altered stats are much higher, a punishment of sorts for those players who provoke her into that form)

Fallen: Secrets
FFN II AO3
Series Summary: One-shots following Robert Svane through his journey to becoming the Revenant Bobo Del Rey. Not written in chronological order. Pre-canon through current events in SyFy's Wynonna Earp.
Summary: Bobo finds little Waverly traipsing through the snow.
Secrets
She was traipsing across the soft snow with the determination worthy of her family namesake. More worthy than some that had had better claims to it, he'd wager as he watched the little girl from his perch back out of her line of sight.
While spring was creeping up on the Ghost River Triangle it was hardly warm, and she looked like she had taken off in a rage, barely tugging on a jacket twice her size. Now she was calf deep in snow that had been packed down enough that her slight weight wouldn't have mattered just days before, but the sun breaking through the clouds and the slightly warmer weather had loosened it.
He had no idea what she was doing out there all by herself. Ward was off doing whatever Ward Earp did at this hour, but the girl's mother should have been watching her. Instead she was alone, cheeks red and tear-streaked over some wrongdoing, and she was nearing the edge of the Homestead.
That wouldn't do. There were plenty of Revenants that would see the little Earp baby as a chance to snuff her father out. Of the handful of Heirs that had come and gone since Wyatt died, Ward was nothing special, but the child would be collateral damage. He wouldn't let Waverly become collateral damage. Not his little angel.
Her toe snagged something beneath the powder and she fell headlong into the snow, a startled sound escaping her and she lay there for a moment, unmoving, and he flicked his cigarette into the wet snow, rising part way from his crouched position. He waited, watching, unsure exactly what he planned to do about it. The ammolite that kept the other Revenants off the Earp land kept him off just as well. If he so much as tried to go to her it would blow him away like a dried leaf in the wind.
Finally the little girl pulled herself up. Her face and front end were covered with snow and she looked at her empty hands. Big, wet tears gathered and she started to dig, the sobs choking her and she wasn't finding what she was looking for.
And then he saw it, just on his side of the fence, a bent and broken little tin toy. It looked as if someone had taken a boot to it, crunching it hard against equally hard ground to the point that he wasn't even sure what it had been before. He reached out, the little figure flying to his palm when called, and he moved carefully to place it on the edge of the fence, using her distraction with the dig so that she wouldn't even notice.
But she did notice. He'd been silent, his boots not making a sound in the soft snow, and he froze where he was as two large, bloodshot blue eyes looked up at him. He'd watched her for four years now. He'd seen her grow and laugh and play. He'd seen her hug on the middle sister and the eldest tease her relentlessly as, if memory served, siblings always did. He'd seen her, but she hadn't seen him. Not until right then, and if he didn't say something, he thought she might start crying out of fear this time.
"Hi." He crouched down in the snow, his movements very slow and as unimposing as he could make them. Long fingers uncurled from around her toy and he set it on the fence edge. "Is this what you're looking for?"
Waverly Earp blinked hard, tears still escaping one at a time, and she nodded.
"I'm not gonna hurt you," he promised.
"Daddy said not to go on the other side of the fence."
Well, at least Ward had done that much. "That's smart," he told her, "and you're pretty smart, aren't you?"
She nodded, almost as if she wasn't sure that was the answer that he wanted, even if it was correct.
He did his best to let his expression soften - something so strange after so many years of hardening it, making the mask impenetrable to any that might be looking - and he smiled for her. "Here." He pushed the crumbled figurine towards her. "You can get it from that side."
Waverly moved forward, never breaking eye contact with him, and he remained completely still as she snagged it, holding it to her chest protectively.
"What happened?"
She frowned and looked at it again. "Willa's mean. She stomped it."
"Ah," he said softly.
"It was a cat," Waverly told him, taking a step back towards the fence again, this time a little braver than before. "See? It had ears and a nose here." She held it out for him to inspect and he tilted his head. All of a sudden she was at the fence, her little fingers wrapped around the wood and he found himself staring straight into those bright blue eyes. So innocent. So naive. He wondered how long she could stay that way. "Can you fix it?"
He blinked. "Why would I be able to fix it?" he asked softly, and he saw that clever little mind working for an answer that she couldn't have possibly known.
"Dunno," she said with a shrug.
He held out his hand and she put it in his palm without hesitation. "This can be our secret," he told her.
"Really? I get to know a secret?"
"Mm, but just you."
"Not even Willa and Wynonna?"
"Nope."
"Not Daddy?"
"Nope."
She thought about it for a long moment and finally nodded, her blonde hair falling in her face. "Okay."
He shifted, steadying himself in the squatted position he was still in, and placed his other hand over the toy. He felt the metal shifting, moving where he told it to, until it formed up what she'd described as the toy before her big sister had mutilated it.
Waverly's eyes grew wide as he uncovered it and her smile could have lit the entire world. "It's pretty again!"
He set it on the fence for her and she snagged it, inspecting it. "Why'd your sister break it?" he asked, glancing up towards the house. The last thing he wanted was Ward traipsing out looking for his youngest and finding him there. Most days the Earp Heir knew it was in his best interest to keep the Revenants' leader above ground, but there were days with a lot of whisky and a quick temper. Thankfully his aim was nowhere near what his great granddaddy's had been, even with Peacemaker's help.
"She's mad," Waverly told him, still looking it over. "She's mad 'cause Mama left. She said it's my fault."
Interesting. He hadn't heard that Ward's wife had finally had enough. He wasn't surprised. Not really, but he was surprised she hadn't taken the girls with her as she fled. It wouldn't have been impossible, even if something or the other would have eventually brought Willa back by the time she came of age.
Her little voice was so sad and he frowned just a little. He shouldn't care. She was a child and children cried one second and were giggling the next. It would pass. She would adapt. In the grand scheme of everything that was happening around them, this was not something he needed to concern himself with, but somehow he was. Very concerned, and he leaned against the sturdy wood of the fence, feeling the buzz of the ammolite that threatened to send him flying.
She sniffed. "Mama gave it to me. Willa misses her, so I told her she could play with the it. She stomped it and told me it was my fault."
"It's not your fault, Angel." The words escaped him before he gave them permission.
She looked up and wiped at her tears with the back of her sleeve. She sniffed one more time and stuck her hand through the opening. "I'm Waverly. Waverly Earp," she told him matter of factly, a funny sense of pride for someone so young echoing in the way she said her family name. "What's your name?"
He stared at her outstretched hand for a moment, his breath showing as he loosed it. He shouldn't be here. Too much was at stake, and if he took a wrong step he'd be screaming amongst the flames until Ward died and Willa turned twenty-seven. There was too much to do and he couldn't miss his opportunities as they arose. It was one thing to watch from a distance, but to be there with her? To shake her tiny little hand and tell her his name? It was risky. She was a child. She would talk.
"You don't wanna be friends?" Waverly asked, sounding hurt by the notion.
"'Course I do, Angel. Who wouldn't wanna be your friend?" She beamed at him and he shook that small hand.
"Our secret," she promised him, almost as if reading his discomfort. It was impossible. She was a clever little girl, but she was still a little girl. Surely that was impossible.
"Our secret," he agreed and stood. "Go get warm."
"Will you come back?"
"Yeah."
"Promise?"
A tiny smirk tilted his lips. "Promise," he assured her.
She grinned at him and turned, but before she took too many steps out of earshot he spoke again. "Bobo."
"That's your name?"
"That's my name."
"That's a funny name," she giggled and darted off, clutching her newly-restored tin kitty in her hand.
Bobo watched her go, an old promise to never hurt his angel playing through his mind like a memory of a dream. It had felt like a dream for so long, and hell had nearly burned the memory right out of him, but then he'd heard the Earp baby's name - Waverly - and he'd known. He'd remembered, and he'd thought that maybe, just maybe, he might still be able to do something right.
Notes: Baby Waves is a lot of fun to write. I just kind of want to scoop her up and protect her from Willa.

Bamboo coral isn't equivalent to some other coral you may find the world over. It is gathered from reefs that lie some place down in the base of the ocean. These aren't the sorts of coral reefs that you go swimming around in the Caribbean. As a matter of fact, they don't look like those reefs. As the name suggests, they look like stalks of bamboo.
