Intricately detailed light brown 1900s Mexican Saddle with long saddle bags artfully designed with a scalloped border and adorned with a combination of deep floral carving; lavish two-tone pitiado (yucca fiber) with a Greek Key border design framing an embroidered grape-vine pattern with grape clusters cleverly fabricated from fine silver threads. Silver mountings include a figural repousse flat horn, maker stamped “E ROMAN / MEXICO”, repousse adornments on the fork, swell and gullet, plus heavy gauge slotted silver conchos and lavish stirrups. Highly detailed silver repousse stirrups. The cowhide seat cover was added many years ago but is not original to the rawhide seat and should be removable. Excellent overall condition including original cinch.
Hand-forged and one-of-a-kind labradorite amulet made by me 💘
Carved natural labradorite skull set in sterling silver. Rings and bezel soldered to a thick backplate for durability.
Can be worn multiple ways, tied into hair, laced through shoelaces, or as a choker.
In metaphysical circles, labradorite is revered as a potent protector, shielding one’s aura to ward off negativity. It's believed to not only guard against external forces but also to help neutralize internal negativity. Labradorite's renowned iridescence, symbolizing transformation, is closely tied to its reputation as a stone that bolsters inner strength and self-value. Additionally, it's thought to stimulate the throat chakra (communication, self-expression, creativity). While not linked to any specific zodiac sign, labradorite is often said to resonate strongly with those born under the sign of Cancer.
Guess who finally made something with silver!! It's been way too long, but I'm pretty happy with how this necklace turned out! It was a gift for a friend's engagement. 🦋
🖤✨— During the past few weeks, I’ve been teaching myself how to solder, among other things such as fabricating bezels for necklaces from sterling silver sheet metal and wire. In the photo above, you’re actually looking at a memento I made for a good friend of mine - this is her dog (Biminis) blood casted with epoxy and set into the bezel! Biminis is still with us today, but this memento will be something to hold onto forever! I’ve also been experimenting with doing the same thing with ashes as memorial pieces for animals that have passed away. For those who might have questions, please feel free to DM me! This process is completely safe, and no animals were harmed in the making of this!—— .
USB-Pot
February, 2011
Copper, Brass, Bronze, USB stick and old mouse parts
During my time at MassART, they had an annual a cross critique with the Main College of Art. Students would prepares an object based on a theme, and we meet up to critique them all. In 2011, our theme was vessels: an object which is designated to hold something.
My vessel was a teapot with a USB stick inside it. The teapot is a very traditional metalsmithing object, one which use to be a sort of rite of passage for amateur silversmiths. I wanted to use this language to create something with a bit more of a modern twist to it, so I scaled it down and wired up a 256mb USB flashdrive to a USB cord. Now instead of holding liquid, this vessel holds information.
----
Here's some more old work. I think I got the USB drive from PAX 2010. Wizards of the Coast had a booth and they gave away these rubber bracelets with USB drives in them. They had something like, 256mb capacity and came pre-loaded with an executable for Duels of the Planeswalkers.
Anyway, here's a WIP photo I found of it. (Courtesy of my shitty flip phone.)
My newest little treasures. Made with a mix of .925 and .999 silver these little ones came about after my vintage frame brooch broke and I repurposed it with one of my little hands in the frame. Reminding me of old headstones, memento mori and a dark hallway lined with sentiments of grief and love lost. The original frame is part of my personal collection but I cast a few to make a few of these for my holiday collection this Friday 🖤
