BTVS boop head canons:

Angel is on tumblr but types with one finger. he finally got the hang of reblogs last month. he is scared of the boop button and does not try. he makes a mental note to ask Cordelia to explain it to him.

Spike boops Buffy, then realizes how that looks. he begins to boop all the Scoobies, Willow first. he begrudgingly also boops Xander.

Buffy has been busy so is late with the boops. she's overwhelmed by all the boops she has and closes her tumblr tab half way thru booping people. her first boop is Willow, then Xander. she boops Faith back but not Spike. [sorry Spuffy fans, i'm a Fuffy truther] sadly she also boops Parker.

Willow boops everyone, Tara first. Tara ofc boops back. so does Oz.

Tara only boops the Scoobies and her witch friends. while she doesn't boop freely, to her boops are more about friendship than anything else.

Xander boops Spike first, then realizes how that looks. he rapidly boops everyone else, including Giles. (Giles ignores it, but is shaken up that Xander knows about his secret tumblr account "rugged_Sunnydale_librarian.") Anya is glad Xander booped her, she was wondering why it took so long.

(All the Scoobies know about Giles's "secret" tumblr account, since he keeps forgetting to log out of it on the Magic Box research computer.)

Anya gives very limited boops. she's annoyed that tumblr didn't monetize it somehow, since that's what she would do. "it's such an obvious opportunity!"

Cordelia boops a few select old classmates from Sunnydale, but not Buffy. she happily boops Angel, Fred, Gunn, Lorne, and Wesley, in that order. [idk i haven't seen all of ATS]

Lorne boops everyone and won't shut up about booping.

Lilah and Wesley only boop each other.

Lindsey boops Angel and Lilah, but neither boop him back.

Gunn shyly boops Fred and she instantly boops back.

Faith boops Buffy. when Buffy doesn't boop back immediately she boops another 10 times, thinking it didn't go through. when she realizes that all 11 boops went through, she panics and drafts a "sorry yo my tumblr got hacked" post just in case. when Buffy boops her back (once) she grins like a cheese ball for 2 days straight. as an afterthought she also boops the Scoobies.

Giles has a secret tumblr. he scoffs at all the booping, until Jenny boops him. he grins and sends her a long text in response thanking her (like text msg on his phone), signing it with his name like he does with every text.

why can't lindsey brynes just asked paramore or hayley if she could sell their photos as posters or something. why is it always "pay $6 and I'll give you a photo of hayley" or "follow me and I'll post a photo of hayley in a bikini".

If she wants more followers then she should post more band photos. she has paramore and boygenius as her clients like any of the band photos as a poster would gain her so much more money rather than just asking her instagram followers if they want to buy unseen photos of hayley sitting down

the hot tub thing still bothers me to this day. For people who didn’t know during the FFV era i believe ? Lindsey Byrnes, who was Paramore’s #1 person to go for photos during the AL era posted a photo of Hayley in a swimsuit sitting in a hot tub saying she’d post the full pic if she got a certain amount of followers. People called her creepy and weird and she never ended up posting the full pics.

Also at one point i remember (and have screenshots here and here) that she was bargaining with her followers saying “if you get me to 110K i’ll post photos of Hayley in the bath” which is just a weird asf.

Anyways, now she’s trying to sell pictures she took of hayley for 6 dollars per photo and the main account trying to buy this shit is Paramore Russia. The only reason we know about this is because Paramore Russia posted on social media asking for people to donate so we can have never-before-seen pics of Hayley.

Now, Paramore Russia is the same account that pretended to be Hayley’s relatives on facebook so they could get *exclusive* content of Hayley (which btw, if your way of getting pictures of celebrities you like involve lying and being weird with the people they personally know in real life I think you should log off the internet and get a real hobby). Which them being insane on facebook brought us that pic of Hayley & Taylor looking cozy during christmas time and then the call-out post Hayley made about people being weird. Nonetheless, all of this shit has left a bad taste in my mouth. Lindsey is also an NFT bro, if you needed another nail in the coffin for some reason.

also i agree, the big thing for me is her trying to sell it to Paramore Russia (specifically because of the stalkerish behavior to when it comes to “getting content” they were exuding and had been exuding for a while). no one had known about these photos until they posted they were raising money to buy them… insane.

These beer, wine, and liquor bottles from a late 19th- to early 20th-century logging camp in western Oneida County, Wisconsin, show a little variety in the beverages the occupants of the site consumed. The bottle on the far left has a slightly tapering top with a grooved ring, what is known as a brandy or wine finish. The second from the left has a straight top with a grooved ring, which is a straight brandy or wine finish, also known as a whiskey finish or a tapered collar with ring. These types of finishes were used on liquor bottles of various sizes and shapes in the latter half of the 19th century to the early 20th century (Lindsey 2021). Also among the liquor bottles was a clear base with “FULL PINT” embossed on the lower body (center left, bottom). The third bottle has a blob finish, which looks like a glob of glass had been applied to the top of the bottle. Such finishes were used on beer bottles from the 1870s to the 1910s (Lindsey 2021). The necks of these bottles have stopper closures, meaning a cork or other type of plug would have been inserted in the mouth to close the bottle. On the far right is the body and base of a dark olive green wine bottle.

Anchorage Blanketed in Snow

Winter weather arrived in force in Southcentral Alaska in 2023. Anchorage logged its snowiest November since recordkeeping began in 1953—and it reached that mark just over halfway through the month. In addition, a nearby mountain pass came close to the national record for 24-hour snowfall.

The images above capture the transition to winter in and around Alaska’s most populous city. They were acquired by the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) on NASA’s Aqua satellite on October 26 (lower image), before any significant snow had fallen in Anchorage, and November 19 (top image), two days after enough snow accumulated to set a new monthly record there. At that point, ground-based measurements at the National Weather Service Anchorage office had recorded 39.1 inches (993 millimeters) of snowfall in November, topping the previous record of 38.8 inches (985 millimeters) from 1994.

Much of the snow—about 20 inches (500 millimeters)—fell during a storm lasting from November 8–10. New daily snowfall records for November 8 and 9 were set during that storm. It caused power outages, treacherous road conditions, and office closures, according to news reports. Another storm, which dropped nearly 9 more inches on November 13, added to the challenging conditions and prompted schools to switch to remote learning for several days.

Outlying mountainous areas saw far more accumulation. Thompson Pass in the Chugach Mountains, about 140 miles (220 kilometers) east of Anchorage, reportedly received 72 inches (1.8 meters) of new snow on November 8. That total, measured in one of the snowiest places in the state, approached the century-old U.S. record for snowfall in a 24-hour period. Silver Lake, Colorado, still holds the top spot from April 1921, when 76 inches (1.9 meters) fell in the Rocky Mountains.

Liam glanced away from his paperwork when his computer dinged, his lips twisting in a small smirk. Opening his email, he saw the alert for his newest match on WeChat. Included in the alert was a thumbnail of the profile picture, and he clicked on it to enlarge the image.

The photo was of a young man with chin-length, blondish hair, with sharp cheekbones and a pair of crystal blue eyes looking out mischievously from behind a pair of old-fashioned wire-rimmed glasses. The man was smiling at the camera, one hand in his pocket, a stack of leather-bound books tucked in his free arm as he leaned back against an ornate, wooden desk, surrounded by bookshelves.

Intrigued, Liam closed the image and clicked the link to the profile of his potential match. Scrolling down the profile page, he took in the important details, bypassing the bits that were inconsequential to his purpose for signing up with the site in the first place.

He had to admit, he was suitably impressed. This William was merely a year older than he was and was managing his own business. Definitely more than he would have expected based on the rather bookish looking man in the included photo. He himself didn't expect to rise to CEO for a couple more years.

Liam had been using this particular chat site for a while now, and had previously matched with a few people who were able to fulfill his rather particular requirements in a sexual partner. Not that any of them had lasted longer than a month or so. A couple had wanted more from him than he was prepared to give, but most of them he had just simply quickly tired of. He'd yet to meet a man or woman who could offer the challenges necessary to hold his attentions for long.

Taking another look at the profile picture, he found himself wondering how long this one would keep him interested. The young man was certainly handsome enough to merit a trial run. Clicking back into his matches, he clicked the check mark next to William's name and since the blonde was still logged on, entered a message into the IM box. He still had half an hour before the end of his work day, and another hour before he had to set out for his dinner meeting, and with nothing pressing for his time between now and then, why not see if he could set himself up for a little fun in the near future?

L: Tell me, Mr. Pratt, do you value hard work?

He sat back in his chair, deciding to give it a minute to see if William was eager enough to answer quickly. Sure enough, barely a minute had passed before his computer pinged his reply.

W: Of course, I do. I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't.

Liam's smirk widened, and he began to type.

L: Good. Because I live a fast-paced life, I put in 110% into everything I do, in work and in play. Anyone I let into my world has to understand that. You think you can keep up?

W: I'd like to think so. Care to be a bit more specific, mate? Your bio said you're in finances, but didn't go into much detail.

L: I'm in the investment business. I play the stock market, which means I have to keep my mind sharp 24/7. One second's hesitation could make or break a guy in this field, and I don't plan to break.

W: Never really been one for stocks, maths weren't much best subject in school, either. But, I do well enough to keep the books balanced, and my employees paid. All that stock broker stuff just looks like a bunch of squiggly lines to me.

L: Fair enough. Don't really need you to understand what I do, as long as you understand the importance it holds in my life. Mate, maths? You're not American, are you, Will. I can call you Will, can't I?

W: Will is fine, for now. And no, not American. English, pet.

Liam felt an unexpected flash of arousal surge through him at the sight of William referring to him as 'pet', but quickly pushed it aside to focus on the rest of the words appearing on the screen.

W: And trust me, I completely understand how important a bloke's career can be to him. Spend more time than I care to admit making sure my business stays in the black. Not as much call for rare books these days, but it's my life's work. My calling.

Liam's smirk turned into an actual smile at the thought of the blonde bustling about those stacks of books, helping customers and filling out orders. Perhaps their lines of work weren't so completely different.

L: Glad to hear it. You like what you do, and you work hard to keep it thriving, that's always a plus. So, inexperienced with how the stocks work, huh? I can work with inexperienced. And not just with investing.

W: Think you'll find I have more than enough experience where it counts, mate. ;)

L: That, I can work with. >:)

W: Might be tru. Haven't exactly decided if I can work with you though, yet.

L: Playing hard get, huh? I'm used to the chase. Nothing in my life ever comes easy.

W: Bit of a double entendre in there, eh?

L: Caught that, did you?

W: Oh, yeah. Appreciate the word play.

L: Think you'll appreciate more than that when the time comes.

W: If, mate, if the time comes.

L: Oof. Confident, aren't you, Will? Just remember, you matched with me first.

W: Thinkin I'm not the only one who's confident here, Liam. And you chose to match back.

L: True. Need a little nudge in the decision making?

W: Depends what you had in mind, pet.

Liam felt that odd thrill again at the endearment and felt his cock twitch in his slacks. Pulling his head back in the game, he pulled up a picture from his personal files and attached it to the IM. Nothing risque, just a more detailed photo of himself than he kept in his profile, a full length image of him, leaning back against his desk, much like William's own profile picture, smiling at the camera. He waited for the reply, hoping to cinch the deal before he was due to leave.

W: Christ, you go to work looking like that?? 0.0

L: Gotta stay dressed for success. Rule #1 in the Handbook for Industrious Businessmen. ;)

W: I'll keep that in mind. XD So, what exactly is a bloke like you doing on WeChat? Seems like someone who looks the way you do, and as successful as you are, should have his pick of the crowd anywhere he goes. There must be queues round the block to get at ya.

L: Honestly? There's no shortage of choices. But…I'm in the market for something more specific.

W: *Something*?

L: Shit. *Someone* specific. Been a long day

W: Sounds more like a Freudian slip, mate. Your subconscious speaking for you.

L: …maybe. Not going to ask about the specifics?

W: Sure, I'll bite.

L: Nah, I'll fill you in on the details later.

W: Son of a- you brought that up just to wind me up, didn't you?

L: Heh…maybe…or, maybe I don't think you're ready to hear it yet.

W: Think I can decide that for meself, thanx.

Oh, this one had a bit of a bratty streak in him. Liam could already picture the fun to be had introducing William to the 'specifics'. Time to test the waters a bit.

L: Is that right? Well, maybe I think you might need a strong, dominant, person to decide things for you sometimes.

As he waited for Will to answer, his phone alarm went off, signalling the half hour mark before he was due to his meeting.

W: Really?? You've nerve, pet, I'll give you that.

L: Yes, really. >;) But more on that later. I've got somewhere important to be right now.

W: Some kind of business meeting? Melding of the minds? Liam? Oh, come on!

*Liam has left the chat*

Liam ignored the pinging and turned off his computer. Gathering up his phone and briefcase, he adjusted himself and left the office. Hopefully, the meeting wouldn't run too late and William would still be up. He was looking forward to setting up a meeting of a more pleasurable kind very soon.

This is a blog for Lindsey (she/her). She's twelve, because I've seen younger teens get attacked more often. I was curious if that would happen to her. She's a fan of the owl house and a blinger. Her parents are really strict and she has to hide the fact she's a shawol from them. She has made this blog on the computer in a library and it's her safe space. Her parents think she goes to the library to read a lot, but in fact she uses the computer there to go to her blog or to watch the owl house / kpop videos. She has never openly cried about Jjong because of her family. At school she gets bullied for being a shawol. Her classmates often say bad things about Jjong and she rants about it on the blog. Thats kinda the thing I want to do on the blog but as you can see its yet empty- lol

Some notes: I’ve said it before, you can’t have a Top Ten if you don’t watch ten films. Oh wait I did watch ten... but well, they’re not all “top”.

So this is kind of my usual end of month Film Log post but including the films for August which I missed. It’s for my own reference / records really, feel free to ignore. I’m still not “back” but I guess I’m “around”. I dip into the dash pretty much every day and seeing the posts of the people I follow makes my little world a better place. We complain about tumblr, call it a hellsite and yeah sometimes you can’t post something because there’s a 2x2 pixel nipple in one of the images, but it’s one of the less depressing social media platforms I think.

Hi mods! This might be an odd ask, but I was wondering if you had any tips for writers who want to be able to knock their replies in one go? I always tell myself that I'm going to do as many as I can, but I always find myself getting distracted or not doing as many as I had planned. I just wanted to see if any of you guys (or other members) had any ideas on how to just sit down and write, essentially. (As silly as that may seem!)

Hi there, anon!

Not an odd ask at all, and I hope that I can help you out! I do sort of want to preface this by saying that what works for one writer might not work for someone else, and we as admins never want to tell someone exactly how to do their replies (minus the stuff in the rules, obviously everyone knows that!), so what you said about others chiming in, please feel free to do so!

I'm going to put this under a cut, since my answer is probably going to be pretty long, and I don't want to drive everyone crazy on dash, but if anyone wants my honest advice on writing and replies and insight as to how we, as admins, do ours, feel free to read on!

I think that setting and frame of mind is one of the first things to take into consideration when getting into the groove of writing. Are you in the mood for it? If you're not, it's probably not going to happen, or at least not well. Take a break and come back later! What kind of stimuli do you have around you, and is that helping or hurting? Some days I need music in the background to zone into what I'm writing, other days I like to pop in a feel good movie or one of my favorite TV shows (the other day I did some serious writing while watching The Little Mermaid TV show, for example, but also I can't watch something I've never seen before and write replies, it just... doesn't work).

Now, here's a huge lesson that I have learned. Don't worry about constantly completely catching up, it's really not that important. Is it a good feeling to look through your activity and drafts and realize that you owe nothing and everything is done? Yeah, absolutely! And if you can get to that point, sure, why not! But... don't put that pressure on yourself. I used to, and it leads to a lot of burn out and being disappointed in yourself, and for what? A hobby that you should love doing, instead! So if you're not caught up, if you have drafts you didn't get to, remind yourself: they are going to be there the next time that you log in.

As an aside, spoiler alert: as admins, we will never ask you to be caught up on replies, like... ever. When we say that you need to be active to do something (new character, big plot, etc.) we do not mean 100% caught up on replies, but we do mean steady with replies. The reason we say this is being caught up once after doing replies that are very old is concerning, vs. being active to where none of your replies are older than a week or so (if that makes sense).

Lindsey and I have similar but different approaches to replies! Unless they are strained for time, Lindsey normally logs in and does every reply that they drafted up until a point. Like, say that it's 10AM on a Thursday when they draft, and they log in at 8PM that night to do replies... they will do everything in their drafts, normally for their first four characters, with the second four being done the next time they're on. But if they are busy and don't have as much time, they do the three-reply method to make sure that all of their characters get some replies out, and just do the three oldest replies on each character. (If you have anything to add, feel free, co-mod!)

Personally, my goal is always to keep all of my characters equally active, so I do replies in small batches of time (Sunday night's replies, then Monday's daytime replies, then Monday night's replies, etc.). This helps me gauge where I am, and allows me to keep all of my characters on the same page. If I've gone through Cage, Nari and Rafael before I stop, then the next time I log in, I pick up with Stelly. I do have days, admittedly, where I log in and just do all of Cage's, all of Nari's, etc. until I'm done, but only when I know I either don't owe a lot or am in one of those moods where I just never want to stop writing, you know? Oh, also if I want to change things up, sometimes I start with Josh first, just for the hell of it, and work backwards. The order doesn't matter so much as every character being active.

Now, do you have to do replies like that? Nah, no way! Just because our methods work for us does not mean that they will work for you, or have to! But I think some of the key, important takeaways to help avoid burn out and keep all of your characters active are to do your oldest stuff first (it's literally just going to keep getting older, more outdated and more dusty if you only respond to the same stuff over and over, trust me), pick up where you left off when you stop, and be flexible on how you do replies depending on your needs that day! You'll thank yourself.

As for the distraction part, like I said above, I cannot watch new TV shows/movies that I haven't seen before, because my brain just... will not focus. I am also incredibly bad about picking up my phone and opening a game and just... bye, you know? (It's always coloring apps, if you're wondering.) So, I know you mentioned working straight through, but don't be afraid to give yourself little break when you need it. Playlists help me a lot, too! Depending on my mood or what I'm writing, I try to have a playlist that I can put on to make me happy or put me in a good mood. Each of my characters have playlists, too. (I know a lot of you guys probably have them, too.)

... this is probably long-winded as heck, and you're like, "why did I ask, I got nothing out of this," but. I tried, so let's sum it all up before I press pause and go watch some football.

TLDR version: set small goals for yourself & then continue on when/if you have time after those goals are met, create an environment for yourself with no distractions and things that put you in the writing mood, please never pressure yourself to be caught up but rather just be consistent and steady with all of your activity, find a method that works best for you but also be flexible for your needs on any one day, and remember to have fun with writing! xx

College Internship

Spring Internship

At the beginning of my 2022 spring semester, I started my internship as a social media marketing assistant for Minnesota State University, Mankato’s social media. For this internship, my focus was on the University’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Within these platforms, some of my duties included brainstorming and creating content for our social media that was relevant to current students, prospective students, alumni, staff, parents, supporters, and fans of the University. I also responded to messages from students, shared and reposted stories or posts related to the University, collected and logged data from all of our platforms, and wrote captions for articles that were posted on our social media. 

Overcoming Challenges

There were a few things that I found to be a challenge during this internship. 

The first thing was data collection and using Excel. I had never used Excel previously so I was very inexperienced and unknowledgeable when it came to using this application. I am also not very good at math and numbers, which is one of the main reasons I pick mass media communications as my major, so doing something that was completely out of my comfort zone was scary and intimidating. But over time with help from my boss, and through trial and error, I started to become more comfortable with using Excel and reading a lot of data without getting overwhelmed or anxious. 

Another challenge I had was more of a personal one, it was feeling confident in my work and my skills as a communications student. At the beginning of this job, I often questioned my skills, and I often worried that I was out of my league when it came to this job. But over time I was able to build my confidence and started to become proud of the work I was creating while in this internship. I also must give huge credit to Lindsey (my boss) for encouraging me along the way and having her along with my team members show support for me and my contribution to the team.

Prepared for the Future

One of the main ways this internship will be valuable for me and my future endeavors is the experience. Before I started this internship my knowledge and experience in the marketing world was little to none. The only knowledge I had was basically what I had experienced in class. Even that was minimal due to the pandemic starting at the beginning of my second year at Minnesota State Mankato. Although I learned a lot from my classes and the teachers within my major, this internship provided me with real-world experience in marketing, social media, brand standards, and mass media communication. I also got experience working with a team of members with different majors, experiences, knowledge, and ideas. It provided me with better skills for a career outside of college and has given me confidence and comfort in my graduation. 

This internship has equipped me with the skills, experience, and knowledge that will greatly benefit me in my future jobs. I am elated that I was able to take so much from this internship and grow as a mass media communications major. Now that I have officially graduated I find myself feeling optimistic and eager to move on from school and start a career in a field that I enjoy and have grown a passion for.

This is my last week as a social media assistant, and I look forward to my next venture in marketing at my assistant living job that I currently work. They have a marketing team there that also runs the social media for their business.  It’s a work in progress and nothing is officially set in stone, but after working at this company for over 5 years I’ve grown to love the residents that live there along with the community they have, so I want to be able to continue working there and spending time with the residents, but in a setting that is better suited for my major. Plus my grandma lives at this assistant living home, and I know she would love to see her ‘favorite’ grandchild more often.  

Since this is my final blog post for the University, I want to thank all the teachers, family, and friends who encouraged, empowered, and educated me throughout my time at Minnesota State Mankato. It definitely was a roller coaster of an experience, but now that the ride is over I feel that I have grown as a student, an individual, a writer, and a designer. I’m optimistic about my future, and I’m excited to see what lies ahead.

reading log attempt 2.0 where i don’t go off on essay-long rants

In The Dream House: A Memoir by Carmen Maria Machado: absolutely one of my all-time favorite ever books now, beautifully, amazing written, truly cathartic to read as Machado puts down all of the ugliest feelings of an abuse victim and survivor that society at large tries to shame people out of expressing. So much more than a memoir. I want to shove it into everyone’s hands.

Drag King Dreams by Leslie Feinberg: Love Feinberg, love her non-fiction, love her politics, love what she did for early trans literature, HATE THIS BOOK SO GODDAMN FUCKING MUCH. I deleted the huge essay I wrote about it but i have so many (negative) thoughts lmao. I can imagine there are people out in the world who could really, really use this book in their life, but I am definitely not one of them. Couldn’t actually finish it, dropped 85% of the way of the through and skipped to the end was just :| Women Make Horror: Filmmaking, Feminism, Genre, edited by Alison Peirse: I enjoyed this for the most part, but I went into it expecting something other than what it was, I guess more general film theory about the genre as a whole and how society reacts to it and women creating/partaking in it. A lot of the essays are about very specific movies, and so if you have not watched those moves (which I mostly haven’t, because film-media is hard to me due to attention span issues and hearing issues), then it’s kind of hard to get into it? Which is to say, this is an amazing book but I need to do a lot of studies (watch more horror) to truly appreciate it lmao. (Also I wish the line-up of films explored was more... diverse? In terms of creators, because it’s focused largely on white women, but.)

I will say I enjoy how many of the essays are concerned with exploring trauma via horror and taboo themes that are not sugar-coated! And may even be eroticized without a blaring “this is morally repugnant!” statement (because we should all know these things are morally repugnant but that survivors can have complicated relationships to them anyway.)

These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever: I hate this book so much lmao I am all down for unlikable protagonists but jesus fucking christ at least make their horrible internal monologuing fun to read. I REALLY want more pro lit fiction with both LGBT leads and this kind of unhealthy, fucked up, obsessive dynamic that ends in horrible things committed by this horrible couple (and things like noncon, incest, etc but i digress.) That are not YA or focused on teenagers. The opening pages that show the end point of the story really grabbed me! But then you find out the protags are both these... prodigy 17 year olds who feel special and superior and like no one can understand them because they’re too smart and see through society’s lies. Which is understandable for teenagers, and also for teenagers who are gay and Jewish and have to navigate living in a society that’s unwelcoming. But lord. The author tried really hard to make everything out of Julian’s mouth witty and scathing and intelligent but it never landed for me. The witty repartee between him and Paul never sounded like more than non-sequiturs or just lines that fell flat, disconnected, like they’re not really talking at each other. I gave up 30% of the way in. 

Currently reading The Route of Ice and Salt by José Luis Zárate (enjoying a lot! exactly what i’m looking for!) and Boys, Beasts & Men by Sam J. Miller (short story collection that isn’t really grabbing me at all)
