Silly game concept for a Bionicle fangame: a visual novel esq adventure game (think something like Phoenix Wright) involving two Matoran solving seemingly unrelated mysteries on Metru Nui across a span of time which would culminate in the two accidentally unveiling the conspiracy behind Turaga Dume and disappearance of Toa Mangai.

The game would essentially be talking to different characters, investigating evidence and presenting evidence to different characteers to try to solve the mystery. And it'd explore Metru Nui and show the day to day life of Matoran there up to Great Cataclysm. Somewhat conflicted on who the two leads would be. I'd absolutely want Nuparu to be one of them, but the other I am torn between Jaller, Kongu, Hafu, Taipu and Onepu. MAYBE Whenua assuming the game doesnt end in LOMN (thus hed be a toa at that point) but I digress.

Concept: the central conceit of the Oriko Magica event is that Oriko got a prophecy of certain MagiReco plot stuff happening that could make Kriemhild Gretchen a genuine risk again, and tried to send in Kirika as a corrective force, but she’s so out of her depth in Kamihama she just ended up making things worse.

I’ve been rewatching Noir recently. Only saw it once over 15 years ago and I’m not even sure I was able to see every episode, so I only have vague memories of it.

Here is an evolution of scenes with Mireille and Kirika in beds over the first 8 episodes. The slow building of their uneasy alliance as assassins is pretty neat to follow. I had forgotten about the “I’ll kill you once the mystery surrounding you is resolved” thing, though I remember the basis of the answer itself. The pair certainly has a lot to please fans of slow burns with a few bumps in the road and a shifting relationship, between allies and enemies and more...

And the shippy subtext fanservice is for sure not lacking. Especially the last two screenshots, which are from the same episode. They don’t even need a “there was only one bed” excuse!

Between that and what I remember from later on, looks like it’s still a must watch for fans of actiony (but also rather slow-paced) shows with good f/f potential of morally dubious characters in fraught relationships with each others.

“Freedom. Choice. Certainly not you.” He was still pissed that they’d even thought of involving Bryony let alone actually allowing all of this to happen. What happened to their mission? To Kyoko’s words? He couldn’t believe his cousin was sitting back allowing this to happen.

Laughter rang out from the queens lips. “You are free enough. But you couldn’t continue without help. What, did you really expect to be able to maintain the clans in such a state of disorganization? With so many dead? The clans will have died away if not for me. You should be grateful.”

A low growl rumbled in his throat. “This is no different than before. The only thing you allow different is for people to leave rather than die. If they stay all remains the same. Even dragging in innocent people all for what? Power? Wealth? We are already one of the most power and wealthy species-“

“One of them. But not the most powerful or wealthy. Not anymore. I will not stand to watch my creation fall like those pathetic lycanthropes. We are better than that and I will reclaim our position at the top of the food chain whether you are there to live it or not. But no matter where you choose to be, you will not be able to save your little friend. They’ve made their choice, she belongs to Yiannis now.”

“She’s not some possession!”

“Bite your tongue boy, or you won’t be around at all. And little Haru won’t be missed. What, with how often you disappear, they’ll just assume you ran away. Again.”

Manager: To watch over the President’s and everyone’s dreams until the end…

Kirika: Yes, exactly.

Kirika: Back in my acting days, there was a time when I refused to even consider any small-time positions. I only wanted the best and most prestigious roles.

Kirika: All I was after was more fame, more money.

Manager: But isn’t everyone basically like that? I’m sure every actor wants to get the biggest roles they can and get their name out there.

Kirika: I can’t say you’re wrong…

Kirika: But a career driven only by the pursuit of wealth...it leaves you empty. It leaves you hollow.

Kirika: No matter how big the roles I got were, there was always a void in my heart.

Manager: Your heart…

Kirika: You could say that hollow feeling was the most defining aspect of that phase of my life.

Manager: Even with all the success you had?

Kirika: Even then. Because in my heart of hearts, the work I was doing wasn’t what I truly wanted.

Kirika: I went into acting in pursuit of my dream, but at some point I had turned my back on that very same dream.

Manager: But now you’re at AiRBLUE. So you started working here to fill that void in your heart…?

Kirika: Yes. I found my place here in pursuit of what I truly want to do.

Kirika: It’s not about money, and it’s not about fame. I’m pursuing my dream and loving every second of it. The same is true for you, right Manager?

Manager: Y-yes!

Kirika: Now then, I must excuse myself.

Manager: Oh, do you need to go?

Kirika: It’s time for lessons. Remember, keep this a secret, okay?

Manager: Of course.

Kirika: I’ll see you around.

Manager: Right.

Kirika walks away.

Manager: (Kirika-sensei…she really is incredible.)

Ok I know that my takes on Nidhiki are usually some variation of "he's the capacity of becoming a good person and still has goodness deep down I promise" but can I just say how fucking disgusting Nidhikis threatening Lhikan by holding Vakamas life in line is. Like, thats just straight up emotional manipulation. Nidhiki is forcing Lhikan to comply by threatening hurting an innocent civilian if refused.

But what's even worse is that Nidhiki knows it will work. Remember, Nidhiki used to be allies with Lhikan. He knows Lhikan inside out, how he thinks and what he feels. He knows Lhikan would trade his life to let an innocent civilian live. That's just who Lhikan is, the perfect hero who prioritizes others. Nidhiki knows it will work. And that's exactly why he does it.

I also just wanted to go over this again-- I love how COLD these two gals are. Like god damn.

I know I know I know-- Kirika is literally trying to murder Mitama here, and they've given Oriko numerous times to surrender. I'm not looking down on them for this. In fact, quite the opposite.

I love it when "good guys" get to actually be practical. It means that every moment of kindness and love from them isn't because they're unable to be harsh, it's a deliberate choice. The time for talk and surrender is over. This short lil Kirika who loves pancakes and sweets and Oriko is a menace who will kill people. She will kill herself to do whatever Oriko wants, and Oriko is a monster.

Kirika needs to be put down, and they're going to be cold about it. They have to be. I like that for them. They're not bad people. They're veterans who know what the stakes are.
