That’s it-

SOMEONE in this fandom desperately NEEDS to be called out. And since APPARENTLY no one has done so yet, I shall take much needed matters into my OWN hands, because I am feeling passionate right about fucking now.

KIRIMINA SHIPPERS ARE THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES I HAVE EVER SEEN

Before you think I’m being another “crazy KiriBaku/fujoshi” and a “toxic fan”, just listen.

Before I go into this, let me make a disclaimer. I know not all KiriMinas are Anti-KiriBakus and vice-versa but most are, it’s usually just the case in situations like this. Now, let’s get started.

Reason #1- Saving

You remember that infamous hand-holding scene? Y’know the rescue? The VERY birth of KiriBaku?

Yes? Well, do you also remember how hyped us KiriBakus were, how hard we shipped them together, and how we hoped it was a nod to them being canon?

I have seen comments…of YouTube videos of that scene were KiriBaku shippers are gushing about that scene and then an Anti/possible KiriMina tells them this-

Again, the usual. And I hate to say this but they’re kind of right. That rescue was platonic, sure- It could have romantic implications with the whole “It has to be you Kirishima” nonsense and what not, but even then it’s ship-worthy at best. So I don’t blame them, we KiriBakus have other evidence anyways.

BUT THEN-

They do THIS-

You remember that (MANGA SPOILERS) manga scene were Kirishima saved Mina?

That’s all he did. Was save her in battle, like any other character would for any other because dammit this is my HERO academia. HERO. Ya know…saving people? Your friends out of the goodness of your heart? It’s his job to save her, and he cares about her life. Not because he loves her, there was no romantic implication behind that. Now THAT was “just looking out for a friend”.

But did you read what I just wrote? KIRIMINAS told us we’re ridiculous for thinking saving someone makes something canon, and then they go ahead and do the exact same thing, but worse.

I mean- At LEAST with the rescue scene it was this huge deal, with Kirishima worrying for Bakugo so much I even think he couldn’t sleep, if I remember. He was certain to get Bakugo back, do no matter what. And yes, that is platonic- But then Midoryia over here has to go give a speech on why “It has to be Kirishima” and that Bakugo only will let himself be rescued by him. It’s a huge development for both of them because Kirishima finally gets to be strong and save his friend like he’s wanted since middle school, finds value in himself. While Bakugo, by putting his trust in Kirishima, learns to find value in others. It’s a healthy foundation for a relationship, and although “solely platonic” CAN be looked at BOTH ways. But Kirishima saving Mina, no matter WHAT heteronormativity says IS completely platonic. Guaranteed, it is very cute and ship-worthy, but it no means canon-nizes anything. Also, I do not think the rescue scene makes KiriBaku canon either, I’m just saying it’s hypocritical.

Reason #2 - Inspiration

Oh god I could almost LAUGH at this one. The scene were Kirishima locked UNBREAKABLE. Thanks to Bakugo’s motivational words.

According to them, that wasn’t an excuse to ship them. Because, and I quote,

“So, Friends can’t inspire each other without being shipped? 🤨”

That’s RICH

For anyone who doesn’t know, from what I have heard at least- THE reason KiriMinas ship KiriMina, AND believe it has a chance, the very thing they LIVE on is the fact that, and AGAIN I QUOTE-

“Mina inspired Kirishima, so it could be canon!”

BEsTiE wHaT-

Didn’t you just say-

Kinda heteronormative, DOnT yA think?

And last but not least,

Reason #3- Whats canon

KiriMinas, (supposedly) tell Krbks that their ship isn’t canon, and there’s no proof of them liking each other.

I, personally strongly disagree, but I respect opinions and will say, yes, technically KRBK isn’t canon.

But aye yo-

Look, if you were an IzuOcha and I was a TodoDeku, we’d be all sunshine and roses over here. But since we aren’t, neither of us are canon so PLEASE-

Just because ours isn’t canon doesn’t mean YOURS is.

THIS IS IMPORTANT READ THIS LAST PARAGRAPH, PLEASE!!

I just wanted to say a few words before I let you go. Firstly, thank you SO much for reading this, and not just skipping over. Especially if you are a KiriMina. Also, I know not all KiriMinas are Anti-Kiribakus and vice versa, this was mainly targeting those people and calling them out. I know there are many nice KiriMina fans out there, but there are also nice KiriBaku fans. There are nice fans of every shipdom. We just need to find a way to be louder than the toxic ones and we can do so by first admitting our faults to better ourselves. THATS why I called out the KiriMina shippers, not to be petty, but for them to recognize that some of their fans aren’t being so…nice. Because if I didn’t, this would have gone on and on. And this might not help much but hey, at least I’m trying. If you’d like, you can reblog or where this post, and spread the word. Because I know that unfortunately this fandom will always be toxic, but we can make it better by saying that we ALL have problems, not just the other side. Gay shippers, you mistreat the girls and make EVERYTHING gay. You can have your gay ships, but respect others opinions and be open-minded. You know what you do wrong, so try to avoid that. Straight shippers, heteronormativity isn’t a thing- Either your ship is canon or it’s not- And gay ships, no matter how many aren’t that bad. And BOTH of you, PLEASE respect others opinions because sexuality isn’t a fucking contest. It’s not class 1-Gay OR Class 1-Straight, it’s just…Class 1-A. Admitting our mistakes is the FIRST step to bettering ourselves so PLEASE, share this, and tell them to especially scroll down to the LAST paragraph. This fandom is a flaming pile of crap, but we can clean that up!

With that said, to every KiriBaku, KiriMina, IzuOcha, BakuDeku, TodoDeku, TodoBaku, Kacchako, MomoJirou, KamiJirou, and any other MHA shipper or fan-

MHZ? Do you mean MHA? LOL there are so many that could go on for infinity. I guess there are some ‘main’ ships, so I guess I’ll try and rank them.

24. Izuocha

I guess not so much the fandom as the confusing mess that has become their relationship in canon makes it my least favorite. I think it’s too late in the story to salvage this one for me or make me happy that they’re apparently supposed to end up together; it jus keeps getting less interesting as time goes on.

23. KiriBaku

I also just don’t get this one. Like, yeah, it’s nice that Kacchan has a friend, but the second biggest ship in the fandom? I probably wouldn’t have anything against it if it was just middle of the road popular, but the overexposure makes me dislike it.

22. KiriKami

Kinda in a similar vein, though this one I’m just neutral too. Nice friends, kinda sweet, nothing else.

21. Todo/Ii/Deku

Same as above.

20. Kirideku

I like this one better since Kiri has an actual emotional lbackstory piece with Midoriya that connects them and they share interesting things in common.

19. MomoKendo

I really enjoy MomoKendo, and all the ships from here on out; it just has less screentime and therefore less of my attention.

18. Erasermic

This is another one that feels to me like it’s really really popular, but as a ship for my books just kind of ok. Like, they’re childhood friends and all, but what else?

17. Melissa/Mei

A rarepair that I think is important and should get more attention.

16. Eraserjoke

Similar to Erasermic, though at least this one has a bit more chemistry (in my opinion)

15. Shinsou/Kaminari

I do like this one; it just has very limited screentime, so it lands in the middle.

14. DabiHawks

LOL I guess I like this one because it seems like the only viable ship for either character. I guess there’s also Touya/Tomura but they don’t really hang out that much.

13. Iida/Mei

These two do have some really fun chemistry, even if they don’t get that much screentime.

12. EraserCloud

This has sort of beck my favorite Aizawa ship. I’m a sucker for that Winter Soldier/Obito dynamic.

11. Kacchako

Yeah even though they don’t have much screentime I still like this one more than Izuocha. If the Wonder duo have to end up in straight pairings I’d be all for the Kacchako/Midotsuyu pairing. Or the OT3 option.

10. Togachako

Uraraka has like half the pairings on this list lol. Anyway these two have really grown on me since last year’s arc finally let Ochako reciprocate Toga’s affection a bit.

9. Tododeku

These two are undeniably sweet together. They’re the least interesting corner of the OT3 trinity to me, but I get why they’re popular.

8. Tsuyu/Ochako

Definitely one of Ochako’s most stable relationships and the most prominent Tsuyu pairing.

7. KamiJirou

Love their chemistry.

6. MomoJirou

Grown on me over KamiJirou due to their friendship, but this is another one where the OT3 option is nice.

5. Iida/Ochako

The most balanced Ochako ship and Iida ship. Largest part in each other’s lives and most supportive dynamic.

4. TodoMomo

Also Todoroki and Momo’s most balanced pairing, though only my second favorite Shoto ship.

3. KiriMina

Easy winner for Kirishima and Ashido.

2. TodoBaku

LOL they have so much chemistry. It’s not even funny. And now they’ve got friendship and substance to their bond too. I love them.

1. BakuDeku

Huge shocker, I know. OTP from the start, still now.

It's Eijiro's first Christmas with Mina, and he plans to take full advantage of the romance of the season, especially the mistletoe. After all, she's a stickler for the Mistletoe Rules.

A Boy Who Loves His Mama: Izuocha, developing feelings/getting together?, 5 342 words

Izuku wants to get his mom a good gift this Christmas, but... he's not especially good at gift-shopping. Luckily for him, he has a friend who's much better at it, and who's more than willing to lend a hand.

Getting to Know You: Tokotsuyu, developing feelings/getting together, 3 412 words

If Tsu is going to find the right gift for Tokoyami, her Secret Santa recipient, then she's going to have to get to know him better.

Seeking Definitions: Inatodo, getting together?, 3 979 words

Shoto's surprised when Yoarashi invites him out for lunch, but - well, he is trying to get better at this whole friendship thing.

Another Perspective: Ojitoru, established relationship, 3 342 words

Toru wants to bake cookies for the class Christmas Party, and Mashirao is happy enough to help. He didn't realise she was such a messy baker, though.

Mixing Traditions: Satoyama, getting together, 3 447 words

Yuga talks so fondly about his childhood Christmases in France, and Rikido just thinks - well, he thinks it would be nice, if he could bring some of that beloved French tradition home to UA for the boy. He'd think so even if he didn't have a giant crush. Probably.

The Upside of Being the Odd One Out: Shinsokendo, developing feelings, 4 318 words

Hitoshi agreed to come to the party because Denki obviously really wanted him to. He figured it'd be something fun before the holiday, even if he doesn't know most of Class 2-A all that well. He did not, by any means, anticipate coming away from the evening nursing a brand-new crush on a girl he never expected to talk to him.

Quite a Lot: Iidamomo, getting together, 2 127 words

The Christmas party was a total success, and now all Tenya and Momo have to do is tidy up.

Obamitsu, Ankko, Kyoru, Twiliyoru, Kirimina, Inukag, Sesskik.

It varies from time to time but these are the current top ones I’m either currently obsessing over or just finding myself coming back to because of 10/10 content. 💯

3. Do you have any OT3/OT+ ships? What are your favorites?

YES.

Even though I ship Kirimina because Kirishima and Mina are the purest healthiest cutest horn fuckin’ buddies!! couple ever, I also kinda like Kiri/Baku/Ocha, it’s basically just 2 really chill and nice people keeping their asshole boyfriend under control while taking absolutely none of his shit.

14. Has a fanbase ever made you ship or not ship something? Why?

Not really, generally I don’t let anybody influence/pressure me against what I like, unless that ship I like is extremely harmful for someone else and they approach me with valid reasons to why me liking/creating content/promoting that thing is bad. Luckily that didnt happen yet because I myself just really fucking dislike any super unhealthy/toxic/”dark” ships.

Fandoms do have a tendency to push for very specific ships, but the loudest voice isn’t always right 😉 I try giving everything a chance but when a popular ship strikes me as unhealthy/creepy/toxic I just dont ship it and I avoid it at any costs, no matter how big the fanbase for it is. 🤷

17. Are there any popular ships that you just don’t like? What are they?

Oof, there’s a LOT from every fandom I’m currently in but like I said before the fact that it’s popular really doesnt dictate you automatically have to like it just because the majority of the fandom likes it.

And also, nobody should feel ashamed for liking something that is “rare” or doesnt have a big fanbase to it. Dont let anybody make you feel that way, ever! 💪

Kirishima wasn't supposed to kiss him like that when they were in public. Bakugou wasn't supposed to get in a fight with his best friend. Mina wasn't supposed to suspect that Bakugou was cheating. Bakugou wasn't supposed to get in a car accident. Uraraka wasn't supposed to find out she was pregnant with his child. And he certainly wasn't supposed to lose his leg. But maybe having his life torn apart, and being forced into a recovery he isn't ready for, is exactly what Bakugou needs to finally get himself together.

brief little psa to the bnha fandom

i’ve been noticing some worrying trends these days regarding ship policing and whatever

It’s possible to dislike a ship without trying to paint is as toxic or unhealthy. There’s no need to make other shippers feel bad for liking something you don’t. Getting shit on feels awful no matter where it comes from. i’m also seeing a lot of things that could be perceived as biphobic, particularly from kiribaku stans. i.e., “KiriMina is homophobic” and “You’re not allowed to ship Kirishima with anyone that isn’t gay” (read: Bakugou) KiriMina is not a straight ship if one or both of them are also hced as bi/pan, etc. This kind of policing gives off the vibes that bi + pan folks aren’t valid if they’re not in a same gender relationship. this has been on my mind for a while- the tldr of this whole thing is be nice to other people. Thanks.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Definitely. A major one would be IzuOcha… Besides that I’d say KamiJirou and then Todomomo, Kiribaku, and KiriMina are all 50/50 of ship or bros

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

I wouldn’t say I’ve HATED any pairings but there’s definitely been ones that I didn’t initially ship and saw something and was like “you know what…” Still not particularly into IzuOcha, but there’s been a fic or two where it wasn’t the main focus and I was like “👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 this is actually nice”. The most recent example of fandom making me have a new ship is probably ShinBaku where it was an animation of them being assholes together and I was like “I can see it when you put it like that”

18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?

Nope, it just means it doesn’t do it for you which fair play

Though if you don’t ship it cause you heavily prefer another ship, I think that’s pretty much the definition of biased

I don’t ship DabiHawks mainly because my shipping heart belongs to Shigadabi so 🤷🏻

I suppose Kirimina~ it has really good dynamics but I can’t really get into it because I pair Kiri with someone else very heavily

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it

My very first?? Probably some Harry Potter characters, I think I really liked Harry x Cho for some reason for a while? that was weird

for anime, I think it would be Chihiro x Haku from Spirited Away they’re still a power couple I love them so much
