Physique: Average Build Height: 6’ 3" (1.91 m)
Vice Admiral Sir Timothy James Hamilton Laurence, KCVO, CB, CSM, ADC (born 1 March 1955 -) is a retired Royal Navy officer and the second husband of Anne, Princess Royal, the only sister of King Charles III. Laurence was equerry to Queen Elizabeth II from 1986 to 1989.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tall, handsome with a thin frame, Sir Timothy could get more than just a courtesy tap. He is also not considered a working royal, but over the years has supported his wife throughout her royal duties. He has accompanied her on royal events and royal tours.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laurence met Princess Anne when he served as an equerry to Queen Elizabeth II in 1986, at a time when it was much rumored that her first marriage to Captain Mark Phillips was breaking down. Not hard to see why Anne fell for him. Apparently, the affair with her future husband eventually led to her official separation in 1989 and they later married in 1992. Personally, I think that was a lateral move. The couple never had any children of their own once they got married, but he's a supportive step-father to Anne's two children.
Anyway, I like to have some alone time with the Vice Admiral. Though the princess can join in.

According to The Mirror, the line-up at the balcony following the coronation will be:
- King Charles III and Queen Camilla
- Prince of Wales, Princess of Wales - Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, Prince Louis, 5
- Princess Anne and Tim Laurence
- Prince Edward and Sophie
- Duke and Duchess of Gloucester
- Duke of Kent, 87 & his sister Princess Alexandra, 86
Sources says that the King has chosen to say thanks for the nation alongside a select few royals who have dedicated their lives to public service, while also showing “the heartbeat and future of his family”: “The King has been very clear who he wants to represent the monarchy. There is little room for sentiment, this is a State occasion, not a family occasion and it is right that only the working members of the family are there at the big public moment.”
Participation from the Kents and the Gloucesters would be “a final thank you for them and a nod to their support of his mother during her 70 year reign” as “they finally step away from public life and into their well earned retirements”.

A happier life for Henry VIII's children. Part: 1.
Mary was the first surviving child of King Henry VIII of England from his first marriage to the Spanish princess Catherine of Aragon. The princess knew that she was not her parents' only child - all of her siblings died shortly after birth. The birth of a living and healthy child was a great happiness for King Henry and Queen Catherine, even though the child was a girl. That is why she became the king's favorite daughter. When she was 12 years old, her father decided to divorce her mother. Catherine did not resist the king's decision for a long time, but accepted the inevitable and agreed to the divorce with favorable terms. For this, the king, as promised, retained for Mary the status of princess and allowed the former spouse to communicate with his daughter. After the divorce for Mary little changed, she continued to grow up in the love of her father and mother, often visited both parents. The princess did not like her father's second wife, but did not show it. Anne Boleyn did not meet Henry's expectations, so he sent her to a convent under strict supervision. The king also wanted to declare Princess Elizabeth illegitimate, but Mary stood up for her sister and convinced her father not to do so. Soon the king married Jane Seymour, and a year after the wedding she gave him a long-awaited son, whom the happy father named Edward. In honor of this joyous event, Henry organized a grand feast that lasted for a whole week. In the same year, Princess Mary married Prince Henry, heir to the French throne. Before meeting his future wife, the dauphin had a love affair with Diana de Poitiers, but when he first saw his betrothed, he fell madly in love with her. Henry immediately severed all ties with Diana and was faithful to his wife until his death. The marriage of Mary and Henry turned out to be very happy. They had five children:
Francis II of France(1538 - 1604). Nicknamed "The Peacemaker" for the foreign policy calm during his reign. During his reign, France did not wage a single war. Husband of Helena of Austria, they had a good relationship. In marriage 7 children were born: Mary, Louis XIII, Anne, Henry, Christina, Philip, Gaston.
Claude of France(1541 - 1600). Queen of Spain. In 1556 she became the wife of Philip II. The spouses loved each other despite the big difference in age. They had 5 children: Philip III, Isabella, Joanna, Ferdinand, Diego.
Henry of France(1541 - 1589). Duke of Orleans. Was a favorite son for his mother, as from a young age showed a keen interest in religion. And when he became older he decided to devote his life to the service of God. He was not married and had no children.
Catherine of France(1544 - 1615). Archduchess of Austria. Favorite sister of Francis II. Was the second wife of Ferdinand II of Austria. The spouses did not love each other, but respected each other. In marriage 3 daughters were born: Anne, Mary, Eleanor. After the death of her husband returned to her homeland.
Charles of France(1546 - 1620). Duke of Angoulême. Because of his dissolute lifestyle he had conflicts with his mother. He married his cousin Jane, daughter of King Edward VI of England. The married life of Charles and Jane was not happy, because of his constant cheating. The marriage produced 4 children: Gedeon, Charlotte, Michelle and Cesar.
While in France, she did not forget about her family and maintained a close correspondence not only with her parents, but also with her second stepmother, because of the warm and close relationship between them. Before leaving, Mary and Jane had great difficulty convincing the king to bring Elizabeth to the palace so that she would not feel lonely. Henry initially had no paternal feelings for his second daughter, but was later able to develop a warmth for the girl. In 1540, Dauphine learned that her mother had died. She could not come to her funeral, as she was pregnant with her second child, but due to severe stress she had a miscarriage. Because of these events, the princess fell into depression, she did not leave her chambers and hardly ate anything. Her husband was with her all this time and provided as much support as possible, but when he realized that he could not cope, he invited Jane to help. She couldn't stay away and convinced Henry to let her go to Mary. After a few months, Mary recovered and all three returned to England. The king greeted his wife, daughter and son-in-law warmly. And the princess was finally able to honor her mother. She also spent time with her brother and sister because she missed them during the 6 years of absence. When Mary returned to France, she was already pregnant with her third child, and nine months later she gave birth to twins. Five years passed.During this time, Mary and Henry became king and queen of France and had two more children. They successfully ruled the kingdom. Shortly before his death, Henry 8 appointed his eldest daughter as regent under his young son. The queen excelled in her duties as regent and pursued a mild policy toward her subjects. When she realized that Edward was already capable of ruling on his own, she placed the power in his hands and returned to France. In 1559, King Henry of France fell from his horse while hunting and died. Mary mourned the death of her beloved husband for a long time and wore mourning for him for the rest of her life. She warmly remembered the 22 happy years they gave to each other and loved to tell her grandchildren about it. Mary often came to visit her brother, and the two developed a warm relationship. The dowager queen of France died in 1580. She was buried next to her husband Henry II in the Abbey of Saint-Denis.

Who ordered the death of king Wenceslaus III?
It's early afternoon of August 4th 1306 in beautiful Olomouc, Margraviate of Moravia. The young Bohemian king Wenceslaus III is a guest of the bishop, who offered him his hospitality on king's campaign to Poland. Václav had recently resigned his position as the king of Hungary, but now he's determined to defend his hereditary claim to the Polish crown.
Wenceslaus had just finnished lunch and decided to rest in private chambers. Suddenly there's a scream and the guards catch Konrad of Mulhov (1), a German knight, with a bloodied blade just outside of king's chambers. The king lies inside, stabbed to death. His death means the end of the Přemyslids, who had ruled Bohemia for over 400 years.
Konrad is killed immediately. We have the name of the killer (unless of course he was being framed), but even 700 years later we don't know who paid for king Wenceslaus' death. Even sources of that time can't agree on the culprit.
Elizabeth of Töss - a Hungarian princess, the last member of the House of Árpád. She was betrothed to Wenceslaus once. A king of Hungary and heir to the Bohemian throne is quite the catch. But once Wenceslaus gave up the Hungarian crown, the engagement was terminated. After this Elizabeth never got married and spent the rest of her life in a closter. The loss of an advantageous marriage and feelings of being betrayed seem like enough of a motive. But did Elizabeth have good enough connections to get a murderer right into king's chambers?
Charles Robert of Anjou- Wenceslaus took the Hungarian crown (thanks to his fathers political machinations) under quite tumultuous circumstances. After the previous king of Hungary got murdered, Charles Robert of Anjou was Wenceslaus' main opponent in pursuit of the crown and Wenceslaus' success only fanned the flames of opposition. It would make sense for Charles to get rid of his greatest rival. However when Wenceslaus gave up the Hungarian crown, he did so in favor of Otto of Bavaria. Would Charles ignore this new threat and arrange the death of his former rival?
Albert I of Germany - the king of Holy Roman Empire. Not too long ago he waged war Wenceslaus' father to slow down his rise in power. And even though he and Wenceslaus had made peace, the king of Bohemia still has a lot of power in the Empire. Plus since Wenceslaus has no legitimate children, if he dies, Bohemia will fall right into Albert's lap. After all, a few months after Wneceslaus' death Albert attacked the Bohemian kingdom to claim it for his son Rudolph. But had he been the culprit, would he wait that long?
Władysław I Łokietek - he's not happy with the Přemyslids ruling over Poland and would in fact like to claim the Polish crown for himself. He'd been campaigning against them for the past two years and now that Wenceslaus is coming to Poland with an army, it might be time to strike. But could he get a murderer to Wenceslaus' court?
Henry of Carinthia - while Wenceslaus is leading his army to Poland, Henry is his regent back in Prague. Maybe he would like the royal power for himself? His marriage with Anne, the eldest of Wenceslaus' sisters would only help with that. We know the Bohemian nobility elected him king after Wenceslaus' death, so did he decide to speed up the process?
The Bohemian nobility - over the past century they'd gained quite a lot of power and amassed several reasons to be mad at the king. It could be revenge for the execution of Zavis of Falkenstein, one of their own (2). It could be a solution to proprietary disputes. It could be an attempt to help one of Wenceslaus' opponents. But if such conspiracy had happened, wouldn't we have found out by now?
(1) Some sources name him as Konrad of Botenstein, but for the purposes of this poll it doesn't really matter.
(2) To me this doesn't feel like a valid reason since it was Wenceslaus' father who ordered to execute Zavis, but it is what some sources claim.

The Danish Royal Family
King Christian IX of Denmark (1818 - 1906) and Queen Louise of Denmark (1817 - 1898) nee Louise of Hesse-Kessel and their children
This Wednesday, a little love for the Danish Royal Family, who gave us Queen Alexandra of England, one of the most beautiful queens to sit on a throne since photography was created (no makeup, Botox, fillers, plastic surgery), and her sister, Empress Maria Feodorovna (Princess Dagmar of Denmark) one of the prettiest and most beloved Empresses of all the Russias.
So where did all that beauty come from? Most of us have seen photographs of Christian IX and Queen Louise in their older years. At least I had not seen them young. I looked for some photos, and I am including them here. Both of them were good-looking. Louise had a pretty face and beautiful eyes. And so did Christian! He was not bad-looking at all, tall and slim. The little cleft on Alexandra's chin apparently came from her father. The girls had good genes.
The House of Glücksburg, to which Christian IX and Queen Louise belonged, is a collateral branch of the German House of Oldenburg. Its members have reigned at various times in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Greece, and several northern German states.
King Christian IX and Queen Louise were double cousins. King Christian was called the "father-in-law of Europe" on account of the marriage of his children to foreign princes and princesses.
Current monarchs King Charles III of the United Kingdom, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and King Harald V of Norway, as well as former queens consort Ann Marie of Greece and Sofia of Spain, are patrilineal members of cadet branches of the House of Glücksburg. (gcl)

Following the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla over the weekend, May 6 will be seared into the memory as the anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation.
The world watched as foreign royals, world leaders, and members of the British Royal Family gathered to witness the couple being crowned in spectacular fashion at Westminster Abbey.
Yet it is not the only major royal event to have taken place on May 6.
In fact, the date is deeply entwined with the history of the House of Windsor.
King Edward VII, one of King Charles’s ancestors, died on 6 May 1910 and his son, King George V, succeeded him.
Princess Margaret married Antony Armstrong-Jones in one of the most incredible royal weddings of all time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly before midnight on 6 May 1910, King Edward VII died after suffering several heart attacks earlier that day.
It brought an end to his nine-year reign, which was dwarfed by that of his history-making mother, Queen Victoria.
Edward VII was succeeded by his son, King George V, who was proclaimed king the following day.
‘I have lost my best friend and the best of fathers,’ George mused in his diary.
King George V, the great-grandfather of King Charles III, ruled until 20 January 1936.
He was initially succeeded by his eldest son, King Edward VIII, although he ultimately abdicated in favour of his brother, King George VI, in order to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
Tumblr media
There were many firsts attributed to Princess Margaret’s wedding to Antony Armstrong-Jones (created Earl of Snowdon on the day) on 6 May 1960.
Not only was it the first time that a King’s daughter had married a 'commoner’ in 400 years, it was also the first ever royal wedding to be televised (300 million watched it from across the globe) and saw Margaret herself wearing a tiara that she had purchased, rather than one from the family collection.
Margaret wore a silk organza dress designed by Norman Hartnell, the royal couturier who had previously created the Queen’s wedding dress some 13 years earlier.
A relatively chic and simple design – with a v-neck and long sleeves – befitting Margaret’s petite stature, the gown nevertheless still featured 30 metres of fabric to make the full skirt.
Tumblr media
The ceremony was attended by 2,000 people, including European royalty, politicians and the social set.
Margaret had eight bridesmaids, including her niece, Princess Anne, her goddaughter, Marilyn Wills and Annabel Rhodes, a cousin from her mother’s side of the family.
Armstrong-Jones’ best man was Dr. Roger Gilliatt, son of the Queen’s gynaecologist.
The Queen’s younger sister had kept her relationship with the society snapper a secret until the announcement of their engagement on 27 February 1960.
However, the marriage wasn’t to last. The couple divorced in 1978.
The Queen remained close with her sister and her family until her death.
Princess Margaret’s descendants, including Lady Sarah Chatto and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, will attend the Coronation.

Slim-down Monarchy
For those who don't get it and are like ChArLeS dOeS hIs SiBlInGs DiRtY, a slim-down monarchy, as he wants, does NOT mean:
Tumblr media
It means:
Tumblr media
To illustrate even better, here's the line of succession at the moment (WITH THOSE WHO ALSO ARE WORKING ROYALS IN BOLD):
1. The Prince of Wales
2. Prince George of Wales
3. Princess Charlotte of Wales
4. Prince Louis of Wales
5. The Duke of Sussex
6. Prince Archie of Sussex
7. Princess Lilibet of Sussex
8. The Duke of York
9. Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi
10. Miss Sienna Mapelli Mozzi
11. Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank
12. Master August Brooksbank
13. The Duke of Edinburgh
14. Earl of Wessex
15. The Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor
16. The Princess Royal
Now, what King Charles III wants is to keep things small, narrow and simple, as much as possible, because the more working royals, the more the tax-payer has to pay, but also the more work the Royal Family can do. But obviously those of us tax-payers in the UK really don't want to be giving them more money.
So King Charles wanted to have less working royals (he currently has those put in bold, plus spouses, plus himself and his wife, and some of the late Queen Elizabeth II's cousins with royal titles). The normal thing is for a monarch to have siblings and children who, if they're adult, are all working royals. This is because the standard is for the monarch to name his children working royals, and once they die, that means those other children are the new monarch's siblings.
So some of Queen Elizabeth's cousins are working royals because back in the day they were probably made working royals by their grandparents when they were royals (much like Prince William was made working royal as the Queen's grandson). You don't lose the job unless you want to, or you leave the UK, or you do something disgraceful, so they still have the job. King Charles probably didn't see the point on taking the jobs away since he's only got one child (when normally a monarch would've had more) to work as well, and no grandchildren who are old enough to work as well, and since they've done a great job so far, even though they're older.
For the same reason, King Charles III wouldn't have taken the job from his sister (who's the hardest working royal of them all, and with the biggest load of commitments) nor his little brother the Duke of Edinburgh (who's also known, along with his wife, for being incredibly hard-working and loyal to the family).
That means that when he wanted to slim-down the monarchy, what he meant was that if Prince William and Prince Harry were both working royals (which isn't the case any more), and at any point both of them had adult children who could be working royals while Charles was still king, then perhaps only William's children (and perhaps only George or George and Charlotte, but not Louis) would be working royals. That would've meant that Harry's children would've gotten to have relatively normal lives (as do all of Harry and William's cousins, to an extent, and Princess Anne's husband and children, to whom they didn't give royal titles so they could have lives as normal as possible) and pursue their own careers and personal interests, with more freedoms, in the way Harry seemed to want. When choosing who to make working royals, it only makes sense to do it on the way down of adults in order of line of succession, because the whole idea of being a working royal is preparing for either being or devoting your life to supporting a monarch.
So obviously, it wouldn't make sense now to try and narrow the working royals. I mean, who do you remove? King Charles will likely just wait for his elderly family to die before naming Prince George or Princess Charlotte, once they're adults, working royals.
And obviously, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children at the moment have no chances of becoming working royals, unless they really do a massive reconcilliation with the royal family. It wouldn't just be about charming King Charles III; they'd have to charm the whole Privy Council.

Princess Anne warned feather that obscured Harry at Coronation was ‘decent size’ but was told to wear it anyway
Princess Royal raised concerns about the hat and only changed seats to sit in front of her nephew at last minute for a 'speedy exit'
Hannah Furness for the Daily Telegraph
The Princess Royal had warned Coronation organisers that a feather, which made global headlines on the day after obscuring Prince Harry’s face, was “quite a decent-sized hat” but was told to wear it anyway.
The Princess raised concerns about the large headpiece, she has said, and had only changed seats to one in front of her nephew at the last minute, seeking a “speedy exit”.
The plume of the Blues and Royals caused amusement worldwide for blocking Prince Harry’s view from his third-row seat at his father’s Coronation.
In a new book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, by Robert Hardman, the Princess defends herself against allegations she had done it on purpose.
“At the Coronation itself, Prince Harry was seated in the third row of the royal section, immediately behind Princess Anne, who was wearing a striking red-plumed bicorn hat that remained on her head throughout,” he writes.
“Social media snipers instantly concluded that Harry had been deliberately placed behind his aunt’s tall hat to obscure his view.
“This is nonsense. Not only do the Lord Chamberlain’s Office not think like that, but the Princess Royal had only switched to that seat after her request for a speedy exit.
”‘The hat was an interesting question,’ the Princess recalled later. ‘I said: ‘Are you sure you want me to keep the hat on? Because it’s quite a decent-sized hat.’ And the answer was yes. There you go. Not my choice.’”
Prince Harry had attended the Coronation without his wife and two children, who remained at home in California.
He made only a brief appearance in public, taking the first possible flight after the ceremony to make it home to see Archie Mountbatten-Windsor on his fourth birthday.
The seating plan had relegated him to the third row, where he took a position between Jack Brooksbank, the husband of Princess Eugenie, and the late Queen’s cousin Princess Alexandra.
Social media had been alight with jokes about the red feather, with critics of the Duke of Sussex claiming she had worn it on purpose to cement his estranged status.
The Duke had been seen in pleasant conversation with his aunt beforehand, also talking to Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, during the service.
There was no known interaction with his brother and sister-in-law, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Writing in his own memoir Spare, Prince Harry relayed how it was Princess Anne who was first to greet him at Balmoral after the death of Elizabeth II, when he arrived later than most of his family.
Meeting him with a hug, she took him to the late Queen’s bedroom to pay his respects.
The book, “Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story” by Robert Hardman, is out in hardback on Jan 18, published by Macmillan.

HARRY'S NEVERENDING SCHOOLBOY JEALOUSY, TANTRUMS & OTHER THINGS
Tumblr media
We have a title. We have a cover. We have a release date. Does anyone else feel a little bit meh about this? I have to say looking at it, I'm not filled with the desire to rush out and pre-order this "weighty tome" even if its just to read when I need a good laugh or to be put to sleep. Also, who did the photoshopping? I've never seen his eyes so close together or so deeply set. The cover photo is quite unnerving if you look at it for too long.
He's 37 years old and still hung up on the fact he's the 2nd born son. So bloody what? It happens in every royal family. Most just get on with it and enjoy the freedom that comes with not having the weight of being the heir to the throne on their shoulders. Look at Prince Carl Philip of Sweden for example, he was Crown Prince until his father changed the rules of primogeniture and his older sister became heir to the throne, now he's fourth in line and living life to the full with a happy marriage, beautiful wife and lovely children. All that and he and his wife both work hard on behalf of the Swedish monarchy and the charities and programmes etc they support.
I know this isn't exactly the same as being "the spare" to the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom but the point I'm trying to make is by this age, Harry should have outgrown his jealousy and think of the freedoms he's had because he was unlikely to be king one day.
I must admit, I despise the term "heir and spare" I think it should be consigned to history where it belongs. When child mortality rates were high, it made sense for ruling monarchs to want large families to ensure the continuity of the reigning house.
With the advances of medicine, housing, hygiene, etc., infant/child deaths decreased. In my mind, Harry has never been the "spare" to William in the same way that Andrew was never the "spare" to Charles. People are now saying Princess Charlotte is the "spare" to Prince George. No, she isn't. He doesn't need a spare. Certainly not whilst he's 2nd in the line of succession. HM Queen Elizabeth II abolished primogeniture, lets now do away with the archaic notion of the spare.
Anyway, back to the book. What can we expect? Who knows? It's doubtful it will be a love letter to the British Royal Family. It will definitely be a love letter to both his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. I think he will be kind about Catherine, The Princes of Wales but imagine he will try to make her a bit boring. I'm sure he will do his best to paint a picture of William as bossy, stubborn and opinionated, forgetting that following the death of their mother, William went through everything he did whilst also trying to care for and protect his younger brother.
Princess Anne will either not be mentioned or, he will be nice about her and her family, think general family anecdotes, lots of stories about kids, dogs and horses. I dread to think what he will have to say about Andrew and Fergie. He's been close to both Beatrice and Eugenie over the years so again, we either wont read much about them or, there will be the odd vanilla anecdote. Same with the Wessex family, either nothing or some odd, possibly boring story, somewhere along the line.
I'd put money on HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip featuring quite heavily in it. There will be a lot of tugging at the heart strings with granny and grandpa I feel. Especially with the Queen so recently passing.
HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla will bear the brunt of the vitriol in the book I'm afraid. Things are of course going to be brought up that happened years ago. Things which have been dredged over, apologised (in church) for, forgiven and moved on from. These things are going to be seen through the eyes of a man stuck between his childhood self and now. Will it cause any damage to the monarchy? Possibly and potentially but, things are always coming along which cause damage to the monarchy and over 1,000 years later, its still here.
Harry's book will sell and probably sell well. It has the novelty factor. People always want to read about famous people, royalty included. Having a book "written" by a member of the British Royal Family themselves is a great selling point. He's also pledged to donate £1.8 million to 2 of his charities.

This is Cindy Simon Skjodt. She's the Champion for the Power of Women Event taking place in Indianapolis. if you want to blame someone for inviting Meghan Markle to speak at an event, blame Cindy.
I'm sure the "mission" has its heart in the right place, looking on their website, they are very active in the local area and involved in a number of programmes designed to help people in need. I'm just not sure what made them think Meghan was a big draw. Maybe she confused Cindy here with one of her many word salad speeches? Either way, I personally don't feel it is right for Ms Markle to be represented as The Duchess of Sussex if she is being paid for attending the event and giving a speech/taking part in a Q&A. I'd say its more likely than not that she's secured a pay cheque for her appearance and this goes against everything the royal family and certainly HM Queen Elizabeth II stood for. If you're able to email the organisers of the event or even Cindy herself and let them know your feelings about them hiring Ms Markle for this event, maybe some good will come of it.
That's all from me for now folks. I know I've missed lots, I haven't mentioned the Repair Shop. Didn't you just love the camaraderie between Jay Blades and King Charles III? Half-term is over and the children are back at school from Monday so hopefully, we will see the Wales' again. I'm glad Prince William isn't going to Qatar. I know officially he's too busy but, given Qatar's record on human rights etc., I think it sends a strong message.
