The new energy I want to have at all times is a toddler seeing a big truck and getting so excited they scream, and then the truck honking it's horn causing that child to get so excited they don't know what to do with themselves and they're just screaming and running in circles with the biggest smile on their face before they purposely fall into the grass and just roll around screaming and laughing because big trucks are awesome and seeing them makes you the happiest person in the world

one thing i just fucking love about kids is how as soon as they learn to talk (around 2-3) they immediately start talking as much as possible. like, i babysat kids around that age, was there for more than half my siblings being that age, and it a l w a y s surprises me how much they talk. I'll be walking with a three year old and suddenly they start spouting big words and sentences and then ask me what a sketch is. even with 4 year olds, who i helped teach a class of at a camp once, will always surprise me when they just start using "big" words in the middle of a simple sentence. once had a tiny little girl say "be careful or you're going to fall and get injured" and this little girl looks like little cindy loo who who was no more than two, ykwim?? and sometimes their parents will be like "sorry they're talking so much" or "thanks for putting up with them when they xyz" whatever and i always feel so bad for the kids because they just learned this awesome new thing called communication and suddenly the person who taught it to them is putting them down for it. "you should be seen and not heard" is one of the most awful things I've ever with my own eyes had to read and thankfully never hear someone actually say because kids love talking so much and they should always love talking and i love that, as soon as they learn how, they do it as much as humanly possible
