Karl Jobst is grifting for clout and money

So, Karl Jobst is basically a grifter now. His latest video on Billy Mitchell says that he lost even though they both settled out of court.

From /v/:

On this archived thread on /v/, most (though not all) of the anons are roasting his latest video for debunking a lawyer who took a neutral stance on the situation and even agreed with Karl on a few things. Karl took that to mean that he had an agenda against on Reddit and made this video where he debunks him. What made matters worse was that even before the video was published, fans of Karl proceeded to brigade his video and community posts with insults and demanding to take the video down, which he made private shortly after Karl's video went up for an hour or so. Karl told people not to harass Moon Channel (The lawyer in question) in a pinned comment after he privately apologized to Karl, but the damage was done. Even after Moony made an apology post on his community tab, his fans have questioned his credibility as a lawyer.

And then I found this on Tumblr today:

Shout out to @saltyfilmmajor because if this is true... holy shit... Karl's basically biting off more that he can chew and everything regarding his Billy Mitchell videos could be used as evidence by Billy Mitchell himself to bring him down in a court of law. Yikes!

I really want to know. Does anyone else hate the completionist drama, not bc of what the completionist did/did not do, but bc of the guys who started making videos abt it

Karl jobst had some drama like 2 years ago u can still see on reddit regarding him saying some racist shit and hanging around in nazi circles.

Someordinarygamer, at a glance, has not done anything that bad. But he's a centrist who operates a bit like moistcritcal, Aka responding to drama of the week. Also, If u don't know, american centrism is basically diet right wing, with some being waywayway more nazisish (I don't think he's as bad as jobst, but I don't trust people who say the left and the right are two sides of the same coin, links to reddit proof below). He was the kind of person to talk abt the hogwarts legacy backlash in a '""""balanced"""" way🙄

Idk. Like i understand fucking holding charity money for 10 years is immoral, the company was absolutely mismanaged, and the completionist had no right claiming they were donating to various charities actively. BUT how am i supposed to trust those guys' analysis and the million other inflammatory drama channels covering it???

Has a legit lefty person talked about this in in depth, with their own research, since the completionists apology???

I know bad people can have correct takes, but I just cannot bring myself to trust their analysis. As silly as it seems, even I, when I watched half of one of their videos, noticed the e-signature issue. How much research are these guys actually doing, and are their conclusions truly reflective of all the information available?

Not trying to start shit, its just been on my mind, i guess.

EDIT: Literally like 5 hours I posted this Moon Channel said he would be covering this and I trust him a hell of a lot more. He's made major mistakes on one video that I know of, but he's owned up to them w/ links on correct resources, and hes not a fucking centrist wow. Hes also a lawyer so hes at least slightly more qualified to discuss this topic. I will update if the video seems solid

I like Karl jobst as a YouTuber but lately I feel he's been a bit emotionally charged in certain videos, not that I blame him. Getting sued and having other people threaten lawsuits is a pretty upsetting situation. That said, I don't think it is necessarily a good idea to profit off of publicly insulting someone who is sueing you for defamation. I don't know the specific rules around this kind of thing but it feels like he's playing with fire a little bit

Watching Karl Jobst's new video and that dude who called out Dream doing the exact same thing, and even more things will never not be funny? Oh, Dream changed the luck values, but you changed when the dragon perches, how much damage crystals and beds do, spliced videos together and had the gall to do it all offline so no one would catch you during streams?

Why Are Gamers Better Journalists Than Actual Journalists?

Recently, I watched this video on Karl Jobst on Barbara Blackburn, where he exposed her famous typing record as being nothing more than a fabrication.

This is part of a series of pieces of amazing journalism done by Karl Jobst, a YouTuber who I--like many people--have been following since he first did what I and many others consider the definitive video on Todd Roger’s famous Dragster record.

He’s also done two videos on the Dream Minecraft speedrunning controversy, the first one being nothing special outside of confirming what most people already knew (that he cheated), but the second one dispels some myths the side which called Dream a cheater were spreading.

What saddens me, however, is that I cannot find anybody who I view as being as good of journalist in the political world as Karl Jobst is in the gaming world. This is not to say there are no good journalists today, but the average political journalist--especially on YouTube--is nothing compared to the work of people like Jobst. This might be because Jobst is just so damn talented that nobody could compare to him even if they tried, but I think it’s both a combination of natural talent and the failures of modern political journalism, which seems to be more based on going moment by moment and is constantly unwilling to look back into the past. (Just look at how nobody really bothered to look into George Santos’s past until after he entered Congress.)

I don’t know how to fix this, but I do know the issue--to say the very least.
