Hey dude this is a completely random question so u totally don’t have to answer but which Kamen rider seasons would u recommend to someone’s who’s only seen OOO but absolutely loved it

no problem

so, it’s mostly gonna depend on how much you’re willing to stray from what you’ve experienced with OOO. the ones i’d recommend that are tonally more like OOO include:

Kamen Rider W, which came out right before OOO. it’s tonally the closest you can get and you also benefit from the teamup movie they have. fun noir-inspired detective series that’s pretty easy to jump into

Kamen Rider Gaim is one of the more popular seasons because it was written by Gen Urobuchi of Madoka & Psycho-Pass fame. it’s got the goofiest theme of any rider series (fruits+samurai) but per Urobuchi-style writing it gets real heavy real fast. it has one of the most infamous Characters You Love To Hate in the franchise

Kamen Rider Drive was written by the same dude who did W. it’s car-themed but don’t let that turn you off. the car stuff takes a backseat (no pun intended) almost immediately and it becomes a pretty fun police detective story. think magnum PI meets terminator. also came out after Gaim so they share a crossover movie

Kamen Rider Ex-Aid is fucking crazy. it’s a video game-themed medical drama. they transform with game console belts and cartridges. the monsters are computer viruses. chiptune music. writing gets a little wonky towards the end but it’s a blast

Kamen Rider Build is the best season we’ve had in years and it’s easily one of my all-time favorites. it brings back all of the best tropes from classic kamen rider and does them in new interesting ways. it’s a war story that goes into how science can do amazing things but also how science can be abused. really heavy, really fast, but an absolute rollercoaster of emotions

if you’re willing to go for some older seasons, i have a few to recommend as well. it’s worth noting these shows were written so older audiences could enjoy them too, so they’re WAY more violent and dry in the way they’re written. not necessarily for everyone

Kamen Rider Kuuga, which is my all-time favorite rider season. Kuuga revitalized the franchise after a 12-year hiatus. like Drive, it’s a police procedural, but treats the villains of the story (the Grongi) as crazed serial killers leaving a trail of blood across the country. the show production-wise is REALLY rough but that adds to its charm. it’s my absolute favorite season with an unforgettable final battle

Kamen Rider Agito came out right after and is a semi-sequel to Kuuga (whether it is or not is up to you). it continues the police procedural trend Kuuga did but introduces new riders and adds a pretty batshit crazy mythology behind where the riders’ powers come from. a tad slow but it gets really good

Kamen Rider Ryuki is allegedly what inspired Urobuchi to write Madoka. it’s a battle royale style story where the riders have monsters they fight alongside. its story is pretty muddled but it’s so entertaining you won’t notice

Kamen Rider Blade isn’t recommended much because it’s admittedly pretty slow in the beginning, but when it gets good it gets really good. the riders are playing card-themed and they “capture” defeated monsters and use their abilities as attacks. cool season

Kamen Rider Kabuto is a classic. it’s a back-to-basics season where the riders are all bug-themed. they have the ability to slow down time and fight in slo-mo, leading to some fucking awesome fight-scenes. it’s got a pretty iffy story but the characters are all irreverent and everything’s so cool it sort of evens out

anyway those are all my suggestions. sorry it took so long to type up a response but i’d rather you get a vibe for what each one is like so you can find one that floats your boat
