#Kaiba supremacy

so! I just read some of your work on Seto immediately after you mentioned it and unsurprisingly I really loved it. The one where you chose to talk about the instance when Seto threatened to jump off was great, I always found that scene to be very meaningful and I hated how it got constantly watered down to “oh he has threatened suicide for losing a children’s card game”, when it was actually in my view one of the most touching scenes in the duelist kingdom arc, and I feel like this is one of the most compelling portrayal of it that I have read. Many times I tried to imagine how that must have felt and the utter terror he must have experienced when seeing that vision of Mokuba. The line “If there are any more Gods, you decided, then I will defeat them too. If there is an afterlife, I will rip it into shreds. If there is a Heaven, I will defile it, and if there is a Hell, I will turn it to a bastion of purity” is just such a good line, I imagine if I read that to people few would guess it comes from a seto kaiba fic. the second one I read was “Pyrrhic Victories (Schrodinger's Son)”, and just like the one you wrote about Noa, it’s just such a good exploration of a character’s inner world, and even if it was not about my favorite character that I am obsessed by I would think so, but that’s just one more reason why I felt like it touched my heart. It’s such a euphoric feeling anytime to come across compelling portrayals of my favorite characters especially when they’re usually broadly misunderstood. I also read “Every Loop, It Feels So Real (The Puzzle Pieces All Conspire)” and it was so painful, it is hard not to fully immerse myself in his suffering even in fics 🥹 but it was worth it because again, this is the kind of content I am always dying to read on Seto and that I try to look for everywhere, so respectful of his character and so well written, same goes for the s0 one, I just adore s0 so even if I knew it was going to hurt I just HAD to read it. I even found the short and sweet ones from you moving but they were a good way to get through the harshest ones.
(English is not my first language so I apologize if I made any spelling mistake and thank you for still writing about ygo sometimes it feels lonely here)
AHHHHHH!!!! OMG. This is so sweet hehe! Ik Kaiba is such a popular character but I think his character is still widely underrated/misinterpreted (I agree with the rooftop scene, considering falling to your death is so important to his character and it was in general a desperate moment).
I'm planning to write something about Mokuba too, maybe exploring his interesting relationship with Kaiba and how their relationship mirrors the yami/hikari dynamic, and Mokuba trying to find his own identity in a similar way. I think Kaiba has done everything he could to make himself an honorary millennium spirit (literal diy shadow games and all) and Mokuba fits into the hikari spot for him.

Kaiba's slutty boots supremacy
Exactly, forget all the other debates about his physical body characteristics. That's tired shit. The only thing that matters is if he's wearing slutty skin-tight boots ala that Johnny Cash photo.

Thoughts on Kaiba at the end of the manga
I was thinking today about how Kaiba and Mokuba just show up at the end in the last chapter of the manga, and what that means for DSOD. (I also happened to notice Ryou looking back at Shadi's spirit as the tablet crumbles, but let's focus on Kaiba for this post) There's no dialogue, just Yugi's inner thoughts over everyone staring at each other once they've escaped the collapsed temple. How did the Kaibas know to go to Kul Elna? Why did Seto, who owns multiple jets and helicopters, get himself and Mokuba there after a large group of people, who were traveling partially by boat? Atem must have told Seto about the Egypt trip and invited him to come with everyone to see him off (if he invited Otogi, there's no way he wouldn't invite Kaiba). Travel arrangements for the Domino group and the Ishtars would need at least a week to plan, plus the time it took Ishizu to airmail Yugi the photo of the door. And Seto, due to either his refusal to accept Atem's decision, his own fraught relationship with the past or a little bit of both, would have refused. Atem might have even asked more than once. Seto had plenty of time to agree to go, so why did he wait until after everyone else had already left Japan to get on a plane himself? Somewhere in between the time Atem left Japan and the time he got on the boat to Kul Elna, Seto Kaiba changed his mind. Let's do some quick math. It takes around 16 hours to go from Japan to Egypt by commercial plane, which is what Yugi's group did. They went to Cairo first, then planned to hop over on another flight to Luxor with the Ishtars. The Luxor airport was closed due to sandstorms, so they went by boat overnight instead. The boat left at sunset and got to the Valley of Kings in the morning, so let's say that's about 10 hours. As for Kaiba, even assuming KCorp private jets (not the Blue-Eyes jet, which wouldn't have a large enough fuel tank for such a long trip) are super-fast, the fastest private plane in the world couldn't get there under 9 1/2 hours. Then, if you're Kaiba, you take a helicopter from Cairo directly to Kul Elna in the Valley of Kings, which takes about 45 minutes, so the total travel time is a little over 10 hours, give or take wind currents. This means Seto Kaiba had at least ten hours to kick himself for not going with Yugi and Atem to Egypt, to hope that all his resources could get him to Kul Elna fast enough so that he could at least see Atem off, if not try to convince him to stay or have a rematch duel (if Seto knew about the ceremonial duel, he would've attempted to participate, but this would be a hypothetical separate duel). Seto would've flown the helicopter himself, but he probably tried to sleep for at least part of the plane flight; he probably found it difficult to actually get to sleep. And when Seto and Mokuba finally got to Kul Elna, they arrived to a collapsing temple, just as Yugi and the others escaped it. After Yugi gave up the puzzle. After Atem had already left for the afterlife. Seto was only a few minutes late, but that made all the difference, didn't it? How does it feel to be Seto Kaiba after that? One of the only people you respect, your rival who pushes you to be the best duelist you can be, the person who shattered your heart so you could repair it and live without darkness, the person you dedicated yourself to in a past life, the person who kept insisting he was your friend, is dead. It took him only a month after the memory RPG to choose to die. You went to America to go build theme parks with your little brother, then came back to Japan to find out your only friend was planning to go to Egypt so he could die. You probably got mad at him when he told you about what is essentially an elaborate suicide plan (not to mention the kneejerk discomfort with the past, when you're trying to focus on the future for you and your brother), and so refused to go to Egypt to support such a venture. Then, after he left, you realized it really was the end, that he'd only asked to be able to say goodbye, and you changed your mind and raced to Egypt to say goodbye, and when you got there, he was already gone. You didn't get to say goodbye, or stop him, or even watch him go. But what if, through a lot of technology, mental willpower, and maybe a little bit of magic, you could bring him back? Wouldn't you at least try?

First Lines Tagging Meme
Tagged by: @alectoperdita! Thanks bud, I love these sorts of things!!
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line.
1. A Different Way
His book bag hit the floor before he did.
2. Catalysts for Kindling
A package? For me?
3. Isolated System
Bzt bzt bzt
4. Deck the Dates (with cups of coffee)
Yugi was certainly not a morning person.
5. Chic Thrills
Yugi had absolutely no idea what he was doing here, or even why he had even agreed to this to start with.
6. Dare
Parties are one of the most deplorable things on this planet.
7. Naughty Spiced Latte
Bakura did not even know why he had signed up for this stupid app.
8. You want me to do what?
“You've got to be kidding me, you want me to do what?"
9. Counting the Days
If anyone were to ask how it all started, no one could say with certainty.
10. The Perfect Plan
It has to be perfect.
11. Torment
A knife was held in hand, gleaming metal catching glimmers of streetlight.
12. Across the Coals
Leather boots clicked against the throne room floor with every step, announcing his arrival.
13. Re-entry
His hand caught against the belt, cool metal unclasped with feverish fingers.
14. Orbit
Despite the passing weeks, the consequences of Kaiba’s insatiable ambition were still ever present.
15. Supremacy
Snowflakes drifted down gently from the night sky, falling upon the general populace that were braving the snow-covered streets.
16. Confectionery
With a smile, Yuugi exchanged his coin for the single scoop of mint chocolate ice cream.
17. The Question
One of the things Atem liked about working in the Department of Unexplained Cases was that there was always something to do.
18. The Pine Bluff Duality
A thick file snapped shut, the papers within threatening to burst under the pressure of the large hand placed firmly atop the manila folder.
19. Memento
Although Yugi loved summertime, the early fall breeze drifting in through his window was a welcome relief.
20. Combustion
The phone went dead, harsh words yelled in his ear replaced by white noise.
> My fave opening line: #11 Torment! Paints a picture haha... or maybe #6.... heh

So. I believe in GX supremacy, but I love the other two series a lot, too. It hurts to have to rank them ;;
Call me super basic (or an edgelord), but my favourites in each series are:
Kaiba Seto in DM
Manjoume Jun in GX
Kiryu Kyosuke in 5D's
you have great taste 😳
We have manjoume in common ;)
Tumblr media
And hey who DOESN'T love edgy bois. Kiryu's like- my 3rd favourite in 5D's , and kaiba? HE'S KAIBA. NOTHING ELSE NEEDS TO BE SAID.

flareshipping supremacy because we know that yugi is the emotional core that drives both kaiba and atem and is the one who visited kaiba every day while kaiba was in his post death t coma and was the one who decided kaiba’s life was an Unacceptable Risk and is the one to force both atem & kaiba to realize that they have more in common than not

Vampires appeared just over half a century ago, a genetic mutation that threatens regular humans. Kaiba Corp, a pioneer of medical and technological knowledge, found ways to fight back. Yuugi Mutou joined up three years ago as a Hunter, eagerly training under Seto Kaiba's vigorous program to learn how to kill the creatures who wounded his family. He even gained himself a rival in the form of one irritating vampire who just won't die. Why is Atem so obsessed with him? Now one of the top agents at the company, Yuugi finds himself locked in a battle for supremacy while searching for answers no-one wants to give him. Where did the vampires even come from in the first place?
