Okay! I as a Midwestern can like vaguely explain our fucked up salads? So like all of those that I made are technically referred to as “Midwestern dessert salads”

However it’s simpler to just call them “salads”. But, from what I know lol, the best way to describe why they’re so fucked up is a lot of food for them is really accessible and affordable (because canned fruits and such). And Lutheranism apparently?? Then housewives at the time basically played Telephone via homemade cookbooks at church. And now they’re just a small cultural thing there lol.

However like literally all of us know they’re weird and not really salads lol, so we take no offense.
