If I had a nickel for every time I read a supernatural manga that had a “teacher” mc who was connected to a shrine/wears a beaded bracelet, a student who beats up said mc, a “blond character and black hair character” dynamic as the main duo, a mysterious/shady dark haired man who come in later in the series, and a small fandom (at least on tumblr)

I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

Но есть один врач, который способен справиться с этой болезнью. Его зовут Рамунэ. И, хотя Рамунэ не очень похож на настоящего доктора и постоянно сквернословит, только он может раскрыть причину недомогания своих пациентов и спасти их.

Очень неплохой тайтл в жанре психология. Смотрелось довольно легко и сюжет затягивает с первых серий. Рисовка на любителя, но мне было комфортно.

My anime recommendations for this month, Part 2!

• Bubble

In a Tokyo where gravity has broken, a boy and a girl are drawn to each other... The story is set in Tokyo, after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity rained down upon the world. Cut off from the outside world, Tokyo has become a playground for a group of young people who have lost their families, acting as a battlefield for parkour team battles as they leap from building to building. Hibiki, a young ace known for his dangerous play style, makes a reckless move one day and plummets into the gravity-bending sea. His life is saved by Uta, a girl with mysterious powers. The pair then hear a unique sound audible only to them. Why did Uta appear before Hibiki? Their encounter leads to a revelation that will change the world.

• Nakanohito Genome [Jikkyouchuu] / The Ones Within

Iride Akatsuki has unlocked hidden content in the game he's playing, 'Nakanohito Genome,' and it turns out that this content is a real-life game! He soon wakes up to find that he has been kidnapped and taken to a strange place, along with a number of other teammates. Each of them specializes in a certain sort of game, like cultivation games, fighting games, puzzle games, etc. A llama-headed 'teacher' gathers them after level 1 is cleared to explain how the game will proceed. Will this group of gamers succeed, and make it back to their real lives?

• Kai Byoui Ramune / Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist

As long as hearts exist inside people, there will always be those who suffer. And then something "strange" enters their mind and causes a strange disease to manifest itself in the body. The illness, which is called a "mystery disease" is unknown to most, but certainly exists. There is a doctor and apprentice who fights the disease, which modern medicine cannot cure. His name is Ramune. He acts freely all the time, is foul-mouthed, and doesn't even look like a doctor! However, once he is confronted with the mysterious disease, he is able to quickly uncover the root cause of his patients' deep-seated distress and cure them. And beyond that...

[this one is hilarious and incredibly unique, 10/10, perhaps a lil’ gross 😂]

• Love Stage!!

With an actress mother, producer father, and rockstar brother, anyone would expect Izumi Sena to eventually enter showbiz himself. However, aside from a commercial for a wedding magazine when he was a child, Izumi has never been in the spotlight; instead, he aims to become a manga artist. But a decade after the shoot, the magazine calls for a 10th anniversary ad, requesting the original child actors for the project. This reunites Izumi with Ryouma Ichijou, now a popular actor who, much to Izumi's shock, has been in love with him ever since their first meeting! However, due to Izumi's feminine appearance and unisex name, Ryouma believed the boy was a girl and continues to do so to this day. Izumi's troubles are just beginning, because even after discovering the truth, Ryouma can't seem to shake off his feelings...

• Hitorijime My Hero / My Very Own Hero

Story involving Kensuke's brother, Ooshiba Kousuke and friend, Setagawa Masahiro from Hitorijime Boyfriend.

• Kakushigoto (TV) / Hidden Things, Kakushigoto

Kakushi Gotou is a somewhat popular manga artist whose works are known for inappropriate content. Because of this raunchiness, when his daughter Hime was born, he vowed to keep his profession hidden from her, believing that she will be disillusioned if she finds out. This paranoia-induced belief leads Kakushi into hectic situations. Despite being a single father, he does his best and often resorts to extreme ends just to protect his secret, such as guising as a salaryman every day or holding emergency drills in case Hime somehow finds her way to his workplace. Kakushigoto tells the story of a father and daughter living side by side, maintaining their peaceful existence as the father attempts to preserve the status quo. However, there is a saying: "there are no secrets that time cannot reveal." In time, Hime must learn the reality behind the things she took for granted as she grew up.

• Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai / The 7 Deadly Sins

You, will you be a worshipper of the devil lords? These beautiful lords lead humans to the seven deadly sins: pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust. A revealing fantasy that craves to corruption and happiness starts now.

• Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys

Kenka Banchou Otome - Girl Beats Boys, Hinako Nakayama has spent all of her life being raised in state-run orphanages, without ever knowing her family. As she's about to enter high school, Hinako is approached by Hikaru, a boy who claims to be her twin brother. According to Hikaru, Hikaru and Hinako are the children of the head of the powerful Onigashima yakuza family, and Hikaru wants Hinako to switches places with him at Shishiku Academy, an all-boys school overrun with the nation's toughest delinquents. Can Hinako save her brother, find romance, and become the new boss of the school?

Anime No One Talks About That Live Rent Free In My Brain

There are some anime shows that I've watched, but when I go online I barely see anyone talk about them. Anime that have less than 100k views on My Anime List (I know MAL isn't the only metric out there, but it's a big one).

And yeah, these shows are probably mid to most people. But for one reason or another, I ended up really enjoying them.

So I want to share!

Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist- (Kai Byoui Ramune)

Dr. Ramune looks like an anime aimed at kids. It's not. The second episode is titled "The Chikuwa Penis", where a man's penis gets replaced by chikuwa - a spongy food commonly found in Japanese dishes like oden.

Dr. Ramune gets werid. And it also gets kind of dark. There's an abusive cult storyline, an arc dealing with grief gone bad, and generally some really horrible things that happen to the patients that Dr. Ramune and his assistant help out.

I think this anime would have received more attention if the character designs were more adult? Or maybe the first episode being kind of wacky with a kid that cries condiments was a no-go? But I implore you to give this show a watch.

Muteking the Dancing Hero

I am a sucker for transformation super hero/tokusatsu-esque anime. And the Muteking song that plays (nearly) every episode when he transforms and fights the bad guys is a consistent ear-worm even years later.

This is another anime that looks like it's aimed for kids. And it is definitely more kid-friendly than Dr. Ramune. But this show also has some weird and darker moments, especially towards the end of the show.

I say at least watch it for the music. Maybe you'll enjoy it as much as I did. If nothing else, maybe someone else will know what the heck I'm singing every now and again.

The Gymnastics Samurai (Taisou Zamurai)

This anime has the looks and character designs that should have attracted an audience, but the pacing/plot lacked a lot of focus. It's half sports anime, with training, rivalry, and performances (with somewhat decent CGI involved), but the other half is slice of life/drama anime with the realities of being a single parent and missing out on things mixed along with goofy every day activities with a foreigner otaku who suddenly lives with the family.

And there's a weird pet bird too.

The first half walks, the second half sprints to an ending. There are some characters that could have used a lot more fleshing out. But it was fun. Plus the OP gets a thumbs up from me.

based on its summary and key visual, dark gathering didn’t catch my attention at first but i did give it a shot for hanakana and zakki

the first episode was... pretty good, i think? i guess i’m not attached yet but it was a lot funnier than i was expecting it to be, and i like funny so that’s a plus (the horror aspect is still very much present though, it’s not just funny)

nothing about the first ep stood out as awful or amazing to me, but it looked good and the characters are reasonably intriguing which is enough for me to keep watching

though i am a bit... let’s say trepidatious about the yandere tag (don’t get me wrong i enjoy a well-written yandere but they are just so so so rarely well-written lmao)

one thing i did find mildly remarkable was that the mc actually remarked (bad pun very much intended) on the creepy (endearingly so) girl character’s weird pupils

so often unique pupils are just a stylistic choice and have no bearing on the actual story, but in this instance there actually is a plot reason for her having two pupils in each eye! kinda neat

hi! for the animanga ask, are there any anime and manga you enjoy that you wish more people knew about? (basically, any underrated series recs?)

Hmm... I'm still actively recommending Mashle through my side blog and I think it's getting attention now that it's being animated. I tend to have a weird taste when it comes to animanga though so I don't usually make a recommendation. Even in this current season, I am currently watching 21 ongoing anime. I already dropped one or two and I'm still watching these series after 5-7 episodes. If I had to mention a few series (not the current ones), these are the following:

Ao Ashi - I still think that this anime is underrated, it's a good sports anime

Sabikui Bisco - this is based on a light novel and I'm still reading the remaining volumes as I wait for each to be translated, only the first volume was animated

Oregairu (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) - based on a light novel as well, all volumes were animated, I really like the dark humor of the main character, it's a romcom but definitely not the typical romcom

Fabiniku (Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to) - a very funny isekai anime that casually touches on gender themes, this became more apparent on the manga because the anime is only 12 episodes, the manga is still ongoing and the development is really fascinating

Oofuri (Ookiku Furikabutte) - this baseball sports anime is kinda old but I really love this series, the characters are very likable and realistic, the manga is still ongoing but I stopped at some point, I hope to finish it once it's completed

Fukigen na Mononokean - this one is a youkai anime, so if you're interested in this genre, you can check this one too, the ending of the anime is different so if you would like to continue, might as well read the manga since it's already completed

Kemono Jihen - the first episode automatically got me hooked, the theme is supernatural and in some way can be classified as youkai because of the characters

Kai Byoui Ramune - MC is a doctor of mysterious diseases that can not be cured by normal means, kinda supernatural, sometimes the MC would take drastic measures to cure his patients and that's what I love about this series

Tsukimichi (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu) - this one's isekai but it's a good one in my opinion, second season was already announced

Bokuhaka (Boku no Tonari ni Ankoku Hakaishin ga Imasu.) - this is basically Fukuyama Jun doing the tsukkomi and Sakurai Takahiro doing the bokke routine while Kimura Ryouhei is laughing in the background, anyway, this is a very funny light-hearted series and if you are fine with chuunibyou characters, you can give this one a try

The list could still go on but these are what came to mind so far. And like I've said, I tend to have a weird taste when it comes to animanga so if you won't like any of these, that's fine too. ^^

I was re-watching and re-reading Kai Byoui Ramune and I remembered why I loved it so much last (?) Year!!

My favorite episode is by-far the second one only because of the theme. I admit I also felt a bit of pain even if I don't gave a penis.

You'd know when you watch it.

The story is actually nice!! So is the opening lol
