ur post about not wanting to change a fundamental part of yourself and that the world should change is very relatable. im appreciative of you putting it into words
for shoes, if youve got a thrift store id recommend trying to find pairs there. ive had some luck and even if they also only last 2 months its (for here anyway,) like $5 compared to brand new store ones of $40+
another way ive been lucky is just getting elderly peoples shoes (with permission). old stuff used to be made of actual nice material so if they took care of their shoes even just casually they can sometimes still have them survive till now and still be in great condition and made of nice quality material!
it really fucking sucks how much planned obsolescence is in everything :(
srry if this wasnt helpful at all, i hope your worries are someday mended
Thank you!
All the charity shops in my area kinda suck for things that aren't weird curios and clothes. One of them has actual rubbish on teh shelves that hasn't even been cleaned, its kinda gross.
My mum has tiny baby feet and so used to get shoes from sketchers because she was considered a kids size but she's gone off them a bit because their more recent lines just aren't as good quality. She also shops on ebay for shoes but I've had less luck there so far.
I'm aware some of it is my fault for hating trainers and preferring boots but I bought a £20 pair of boots which I busted within a month because the soles collapsed in on themselves and I think its insane they're allowed to sell a product that shit.
genuinely it's almost worth it for me to buy £7 primark shoes because they last a month and a half and my £80 vans lasted 3 months and that's insane

Genuinely fascinated by the price of Facebook/Instagram ad free: $120 a year.
Is that how much they were getting from selling my data?
That cannot be how much it costs to operate.
Web hosting isn't dirt cheap anymore especially with the amount of scripts running vs just delivering a jpg. I get 5gb and a ton of bandwidth for $60 and most users won't use more than 500mb in images, videos and database info on facebook or insta.
You pay developpers, designers, you pay folks to optimise it as the data gets more complicated, and of course mods if you're running anything social but Facebook uses sweatshop labour for that.
I think they must have come up with $10 a month based on 5 coffees or just assumed $10 is pocket change. It's hilariously ill informed to think the average citizen has an extra $120 a year for Facebook/Instagram/Threads or that meta shouldn't be *grateful* for *your* patronage in these times after all, they're not going to be worth much if they're empty.
_______
Tumblr's ad free had me doing the same calculations.
I've downloaded an archive of my original posts before, it comes to more than my website could host. It's why I've put the tutorials at @doll-tutorials.
They would have had my money if they hadn't given me two different prices then eaten my credit card info (I'm in limbo - error can't pay without another credit card, won't let me remove my old info) - that's super shady. Trying to be your own payment manager is always shady (see ebay).
No-one is willing to be transparent except fan sites who will say exactly how much they earned from ads, how much it costs to run and some idea of what the userbase is worth to investors.
Because we the users are part of the draw and the value of a website. Not just for our raw data to be sold but as shiny interaction for new users to join. I'd be paying to keep seeing your posts not just to have a diary. People throw around the terms content creator and content consumer but your little posts are worth actual money. We're not freeloading mosquitos on tumblr's back, we're what makes tumblr worth scrolling.
Tumblr's ask made sense, they're not publicly owned, they're not making a huge profit and I get a lot from this place as a host for my stuff but from the userbase (and blocking options).
Meta's ask is laughable, they need us more than we need them. There was a time where Mum was 'locked in' in that her peers were all staying in contact there but they've spread across the web: they're not just on pinterest and wordpress but on reddit goodreads letterboxd etc...

Hi! I juts recently discovered your amazing work. I am very impressed at your creativity and skills drawing! Like I said I just very recently started to check out all your works, I spent my whole free time today enjoying your beautiful Waxer and Boil spicy sketches and other drawings.
There’s so much I’d like to ask you to get to know you better, I am not sure if you’re ok with too many questions and all.
I will only ask one thing for the moment, as I was scrolling on your sketches I stumbled with more than one which I could swear I saw before almost exactly the same except with different characters, instead of W+B I have seen the same drawing with Obi Wan and Cody.
I am guessing people would ask you if they can use it to modify and turn them into Codywans?
I am delighted to have found your work.
Thank you for sharing so much. Another little q: have you ever taken commissions?
Thanks again for your time reading my message.
Hello!
Ah, thank you so much for the kind words. 🥺🧡 Coming up with new ideas is often like pulling teeth for me, so I'm glad you're enjoying my stuff! <333
As for questions, I don't post about personal/irl stuff on here, but I'm always happy to scream about the blorbos. 😂
I have had plenty of my art stolen before—everything from people sharing it in Discord servers or on Pinterest without credit to selling items with my images printed on them on eBay, lolcry. However, I suspect this is probably a case of 'there are only so many nice gay porn photos on the internet.' XD I've come across a lot of other images in fandom and said to myself, "Oh I've used that ref, too!" And truthfully, it's not just limited to spicy stuff, but also images of guys cuddling; after a while, you start to run low on good quality shots of people with roughly the right builds, etc.
Also, I saw your second ask about having seen my pinned post, where it says I don't do commissions. So no worries!
Thank you again for taking the time to let me know what you think of my silly art! 🧡

i have just spent quite a bit analysing eddie’s room as best as i can through only a blurry bts video and the scarce set pics we have available and would like to share my discoveries, as well as semi decent quality versions of the posters i could find….. i did this mostly for personal use/curiosity, BUT if i can help some eddie fans decorate and/or give more insight on his environment to writers and/or artists it’s a big plus ;)
Alright. first off right when we walk in we’re greeted with this. Lovely image. first seen in episode one,
Tumblr media
but i believe u can see it better here, along with a second poster
Tumblr media
the skull i found pretty easy with just searching the image in pinterest,
Tumblr media
here’s a pretty low quality version of it but. I did see links to people selling the print on ebay, though with some image enhancing i feel you could print this on your own if your heart desires it
for the poster beside it, i couldn’t find the image online, though this could be on me since i didn’t look extremely hard for this one. Sorry. what i made out from it though was that it’s an advertisement for the band Blessed Death performing their album “Kill or Be Killed” live from “the patio” on September 16. Not sure if this is meant to be a poster for an old show Eddie left up, or a future one he planned to attend, but it’s there nonetheless
moving on… To,
Tumblr media
the bedside table! Wooooo!
to get the miscellaneous stuff out of the way first, some of the items are (correct me if i’m wrong about any of these) a deck of cards, two letters, a pair of aviator sunglasses, a bottle of beer (?), ashtray full of cigs, an unopened pack of trojan-enz condoms, empty bullet shells,
[Not Pictured, but they’re there too] a blue guitar pick, a blue toy car, along with a radio (? i think, i’m not too well versed on tech of the 80s) that has a red toy car sitting on top of it. :)
now, for the stuff i feel does matter,
Tumblr media
there’s a magazine about auto parts & accessories! So good news to all you mechanic eddie likers out there… i guess it’s canon that he cares about cars somewhat? At least enough to own a magazine about the topic…
extremely blurry here but,
Tumblr media
a Heavy Metal Summer of ‘86 Mag, Vol 10 #2 (censored from tumblr just in case)
Here it is in subpar quality, (again censored just in case)
Tumblr media
if you’d like to see it upclose. And if you want to buy the mag for yourself, i’ve seen listings on sites like Etsy, Amazon, Ebay, etc etc.
Above the nightstand hangs a print,
Tumblr media
an illustration of the Tomb of Horrors by Gary Gyrax. (DnD adventure module, as wikipedia says. idk jack abt DnD)
Here it is in okay quality,
Tumblr media
it’s not the exact image but i believe it’ll do with some cropping if you so wish to hang an exact replica on your wall!
moving on to above the bed, there’s a Judas Priest “Screaming for Vengeance” poster, with what i'm Pretty Sure is a Slayer tapestry beneath it.
Tumblr media
and here's an image i tweaked with to imitate Eddie's poster,
Tumblr media
im unsure if it's an Exact replica but it's definitely good enough for me
and for the Slayer tapestry, I could not find the exact one online, which is why i'm unsure if i'm even correct, but i'm like 97% sure that's the slayer logo. sooooooooo..................
To the side of the bed, there isn't much except for what i think is another nightstand, and the only thing i can make out on it is a red cup. Two posters hang on the wall over here, and there isn't much seeing as a window & an amp (?) take up almost all of this side of the room.
Tumblr media
the one poster I can actually make out on this side of the room and even then it took me a hot minute to do so, is the bottom one. It's a poster for Anthrax's "Fistful of Metal" album. I looked, and couldn't find the Exact poster, so i made an imitation of it for an attempt at a clearer idea.
Tumblr media
Above the closet, hangs an Anthrax banner.
Tumblr media
now, onto the best quality image we'll have of Eddie's room in this post. Here i'll be describing from left to right, and really only focusing on the wall decor.
Tumblr media
The first thing i can place my finger on here, is behind the dresser there is a poster of Iron Maiden's mascot "Eddie"
Tumblr media
Now obviously this isn't the exact image, (different colours, different background) but if you take a look at what we Can see of it even as it's hidden behind the dresser and banner, it lines up pretty well (the axe, the hand, the bit of shoulder)
the Corroded Coffin banner: An obviously homemade thing, that looks well-loved and worn, even ripping at the top. I wonder if this is one Eddie and his bandmates made for when they play at the Hideout that he ended up keeping?
The acoustic guitar that reads "THIS MACHINE SLAYS DRAGONS": Most likely a reference to Woody Guthrie's "This machine kills fascists"
A lamp is bolted into the wall, and another one of Eddie's black bandanas hangs off of it. Beside the lamp, there is a poster for the band Massacre. Sort of looks like an ad for a show, i'm not tooooo sure. Couldn't find any copies of it online.
The next poster I can make out is for the band Liege Lord, and seems as if it's from a live show from '84. Beside it is a poster for a live "Metal Night", the only band I can see on it is Nasty Savage.
Tumblr media
Above these two, is another two posters, though the only one I can make out is a Judas Priest "Defenders of The Faith" poster. Here it is in clear quality:
Tumblr media
Beside it and a bit under it I'm guessing, is a mirror. Above the mirror there is a mount for Eddie's "Sweetheart" so she hangs down over it. A limited-edition replica of Eddie's guitar was available at Guitar Center, and there were only about 2000 of them made. It retailed for around $899 USD, and even then, that was the lower-priced version. An EXACT recreation would cost almost $5k USD. Jesus H Christ.
Just underneath the guitar, there's again a poster for the band Nasty Savage. In front of the poster, oddly enough, there is a full pepper shaker. I've seen people speculate that Eddie keeps this around just in case, seeing as if you sniff some black pepper during a harsh high, it can help combat anxiety and paranoia.
And a last thing that is probably honestly a stretch, but oh well.
Tumblr media
Above the other window in Eddie's room, there's something hanging. I think this could be a red version of a Hellfire shirt. Don't ask me to explain why, you either see it or you don't.
OH and also, don’t think i forgot because i almost did,
Tumblr media
Eddie’s infamous cuffs he’s got hanging on his wall, i think beside his closet? . An honourable mention for sure.
And that's about it I think. i know I didn't really mention or go into detail on his guitars and amps, but i'm simply not knowledgeable in instruments for that. Though I think in total he has three guitars. idek how many amps don't ask me to count.
If u really just read this all the way to the end I applaud you. I hope you enjoyed and make good use of all this info i just dumped. And if you believe u can help improve this post pls leave a comment i did this all with only my own knowledge.
Tumblr won’t let me paste a link for some reason, but the tiktok video i used for reference and where all of the screenshots are from is by user averilina.
P.S. if i missed out on anything in the room or didn’t mention something in a picture, it’s probably because i literally could not make out what it was/said no matter how hard i tried. My weak little eyes and tiny brain can only do so much. Sighs

Diary Entry - 01/05/2024
It's the new year! Hooray!
A positive: I am also almost finished with my book I mentioned in my resolutions post, so I'm going to have to go on the hunt for a new one soon!
Not gonna lie though, I've mostly just been playing my solo Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough or League of Legends when I'm not at work. The feeling of being a bit "stuck" in my free time has been sinking in.
I've been thinking about making YouTube videos. Nothing crazy, just thrift hauls, show & tells, unboxings, or maybe light vlogging of adventures that I'd like to document. Writing is fun, but sometimes a video just seems easier and better suited for what I'd like to document.
I know this goes against one of my resolutions, but I did frivolously buy a tripod/phone holder so I can attempt to film videos...oops.
Well, maybe it's not frivolous since I have another plan for it too - I've been thinking of dabbling more in reselling this year.
I have always been an on-again-off-again seller on eBay and Mercari, but I've never been a reseller in a typical sense. I an "average" user - I occasionally sell things that I no longer want, and buy things I do want. My main goal was never to make profit, just try to make some money back on stuff I no longer needed. My listings were never bountiful or professional looking, always casual.
I've never actually purchased items with the sole purpose of reselling...until recently. I blame the Goodwill Outlet. I've found tons of very cool stuff and things where I just...couldn't leave them behind. I personally think they're super cool finds, but I don't necessarily want the item. Hence, reselling.
I have no intention to make it more than a small "side gig", so to speak. Even then, I'm viewing it more as a hobby than anything. I already love to thrift, so I may as well get a little extra money here and there while doing so.
I am interested in how viable of a "side gig" it could be. The thought of drafting an Excel sheet to track everything sounds...kinda fun?
Oh god, I'm getting old. Never thought I'd see the day where I'd actually be excited to create a spreadsheet.
But yeah! It's a tentative thought, though I have made moves toward it. Same with the video thing.
As silly as it sounds, the thought of doing these things makes me hopeful and excited. I've wanted an endeavor to focus on that is actually lucrative in some way, even if only a little bit.
Guess I'll check in about this in a few weeks! x

I haven't been writing my thoughts out a lot lately, but it is that time of year again when it's starting to get too dark too early in the evening and I can feel my mood just... sinking. That's a reason why I've been painting a lot, just as I did around this time last year.
I'm also working on kitbashing the rest of the band tribute miniatures. I've spent like 200€ on boxes of toy soldiers and one box was for the sake of one figure (and another literally for a single arm). It costs nearly as much to buy individual sprues from various shops and eBay as it does to buy the entire box — at least I should have no problem selling the remainders at Ropecon next summer.
Tumblr media
(There's still one more box on the way.)
I've been posting a bit more about this kitbash stuff on Instagram and on Mastodon, but here's the very tiny duck which was quite well received at the latter.

I just did a shortish workout, listening to Pantera. Lifted the kettle bell, did some leg stretches. Decided to exercise and let out my anger frustration, rather than let it get to me and brood. It's absurd that Johnny would just block me, and make a post about how he thought I was calling out Sam on social media. Does the fool not realize that he was doing the same thing? Obviously not. That's how oblivious he is. I cried some tears earlier, because I was worried that Johnny would essentially slander my name, and maybe prevent the rest of the guys from ever wanting to talk to me. Then I realized, any actual adult would not give a fuck. Like Phil Anselmo said, "A punk like that is just piss in the wind". Nothing. Fucking nothing.
Honestly, thinking about it all now, it's pretty cringe for Johnny to come to the defense of Sam, when he doesn't even know the whole story. To even imply that I am ungrateful, and demanding is stupid. What's wrong with telling my side of the story? What's wrong with voicing how I feel? The moment that I point out someone is fallible, that makes me the bad guy? No. He's wrong. And stupid. So fucking stupid. How much of a fan boy can you be? I guess his wife really was right in that the guys are only nice to him because he tags them all the time online, and buys all their stuff. What a moron. There's people online that are so quick to call anything parasocial. Everything is a parasocial relationship now-a-days since people on reddit learned what that term was. But what John has in his mind, really is a parasocial relationship with the band. It's absurd! They're regular people, like you and me!
It's so stupid to me. Like, do I have to point out every single thing I do, to prove that I give a fuck about them? Do I have to make a social media post every damn day licking their ass and making sure their gooch is clean? mmm, salty. lol
How many people meet a band once and then claim that they're friends? How many times does a person like John or Gen have to go to one of these shows, buy all these peoples' stuff, in order to gain their "friendship"? Shit, that's parasocial in itself, despite being real life! You don't have to be on the internet to have a parasocial thing, it can be physical too. Face to face in real life. I remember at the last show, seeing Gen ask all the members for their autograph on the poster she bought. I thought to myself, "If these people are your friends, why would you have them sign your stuff?" That was one of the reasons I didn't buy anything, lol. Granted, at the end of the first show, I didn't bring my purse with me in time to the merch table before it was all packed up lol. Still, why would I ask my friend for their autograph, if I wasn't going to sell it on ebay or something like that? It's stupid to me.
I'm over it now. I'm glad that I blogged and exercised. I took a couple anxiety meds to calm down too. I had this anxiousness that could have escalated into a panic attack. I don't want something as lame as this to get to me mentally, you know? John is old, fat, and stupid. I'll outlive him, naturally. So there's nothing to even care about. I'm going to keep doing my own thing, and he can shit and fart about all the dumb shit that he can. It makes no difference to me.
I just hope, my only serious thing, that it doesn't prevent any possibility of giving my number to LB. Before all this, I had the idea to message a friend, to give it to him. Now, I don't know. If I do, I'm going to have to wait some more. Give it some more time. Unless, hopefully, there is going to be another show soon where I can just go do that there. That probably sounds parasocial of me! I swear it's not...my god there was a girl talking to Coleman and I saw that she gave him her number. I wanted to do the same thing for LB! But shy shell me just couldn't do that. Maybe for now, it's for the best.
I've been hoping that maybe, just maybe, he'll reach out to me, and maybe ask for my number. If I end up doing so, I figure that I'll just use the book I gave as an excuse. Like, "Hey, yeah, here's my number. Let me know what you think of the book!" Though my reptile brain tells me he probably wouldn't do that. No guy I've ever given my number to ever does that. Ah!
I hate giving in to internet drama. Yet, at the same time, I don't want to any perceptions, as blatantly erroneous as they may be, to cloud my chances of...anything. So I'm going to leave my post up for a while, then maybe post some things about my channel later. I'm going to cut out the personal stuff. I don't want to put that out anymore. God forbid this happens again, and someone decides to say that all the bad things that happened to me last year were my own fault; or that I deserved it. That's the thing that gave me the most anxiety earlier. I was afraid that John was going to say that in the comments of his post... that perhaps all the things I was sad about were partially my own doing. So far...no. At least, on the website where I can look at the post without logging in...no, he doesn't seem to say that. Though, should I really care? These people don't really know me. If he did, then he wouldn't have gotten offended by what I said.
All I said in my private story was that I have no idea why Sam hadn't talked to me. Not my problem anymore though. I saw some things he did that made me question his character though. But it wasn't my problem. And that's it. I'm keeping it vague because I don't want one of them to find this blog. Though, I doubt they will.
Anyway, if they somehow see this, why would it matter what I think? A real adult would be able to see my thoughts, then move on with their life. What's the point in getting frustrated over what I said? What's the most absurd part to me, is how he didn't even bother to talk to me about it? What's the point of that? You see my post then immediately block me...and then make a call out post of your own talking about how calling out people is wrong. Where is the logic in that?

Heyyy here's all the new Eggman merch collection that delivered last week that I was far too tired to post during the rough days of severe sleep deprivation XD
My Eggsmas sweater arrived much sooner than I was expecting and I adore it! I've only had one other Sonic Xmas sweater before and was sad that Eggman wasn't on it. Now this is immediately my favorite for changing that and it'll be my go to throughout next month
Tumblr media
I love how they used the adorable cute style art on merch again, I'd get anything with this on it! 💜
The Eggman part cuts off at the neck area but he's also on the sleeves and back too. Here's what the pattern looks like on the back:
Tumblr media
Of course this was the selling point for me, I adore this pattern and how Eggman's expression is the same as one of the two cute style Eggman plushies that I own. He's adorable 💖
The Jakks Pacific mini diecast cars STILL aren't out where I am in the UK yet, so I ordered it from the US on eBay just in case stores around here were never going to get him in because I can't bear to miss out. Unsurprisingly, the only one I had my sights set on was the Eggman in Egg Booster:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's perfect from every angle, I like his big bushy mustache and how he's way too big for his car, even more so than he already is in the game since they shrunk it here. XD I really wish Jakks would make a bigger set too like Jazwares did for All Stars and Transformed but with Eggman included. I'm not sure if they will since TSR is barely relevant now but this stuff released pretty late so why not? I can dream...
There was also no sign of the classic articulated Eggman figure either and I was starting to think he was never going to show up in stores around here either, so I got him from eBay too. He's out in some places in the UK but hasn't been sold once at the store I go to.
It took so long but he's finally mine!!!
Tumblr media
The goal plate spins exactly as I hoped! It doesn't have a Sonic side so it only lands on Eggman no matter what and that's fantastic
He also looks beautiful from every angle! He doesn't look as ball shaped as he should be from the front and it's probably due to the limbs and how they had to be articulated. He still has his perfect bouncy ball shape from the sides though hehehe
Tumblr media
Unlike the Jakks modern Eggman figure, his elbow joints have a lot more freedom to move and he can actually put his arms down by his side. His head has articulation too! I love how Jakks have made that possible because so many classic and modern figures can't move their heads.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm so happy that I can finally put my Jakks modern, classic, and Death Egg Robot figures together, I've been waiting so long for this. :'D They are glorious and powerful! 💜💕
Tumblr media
They're all super out of scale with one another and it would've been nice for it to be accurate but it still looks awesome
And here's all the Eggman merch at the shrine with those figures added:
Tumblr media
Except for my wall deco, shirts, and the new sweater, at least. But early next year I'm planning on doing another close up showcase of the collection again, after I've added anything I've added from Eggsmas and I'll be sure to include those in it. I'm also hoping to have upgraded to a much bigger display by then because look how crowded it all is!

Goddamn it Kyra I wasn't even interested in the Lego Lokis before, but now that you've so rudely posted pics of the options I'm probably going to have to buy some. So, couple questions: I'm not familiar with the website you linked to (it doesn't help that I'm on my phone lol) - do you get them from that site or just Aliexpress? I've kind of poked around there but I don't think I've ever actually bought anything - do you have links to those ones you bought or any tips for finding them on the site? (or like. using the site in general without getting scammed or something? Idk much about it other than stuff being low priced lol).
😇😇😇
putting the rest behind a cut because oops this got long
OKAY SO the cool thing about knockoff Lego figures is that a) there are a ton of them, so you can probably find multiple versions of most characters, and b) they're super cheap, so if you do end up getting ripped off, you're probably only out a few bucks. plus if you don't get ripped off, you feel like a genius, because authentic Lego minifigs tend to cost way more than they should (and if you get them online, you probably don't have a good way to know that they're authentic) and here you are getting something just as good or better for way less.
the site I was getting pictures from is HeroBloks, which I only just discovered myself a couple days ago; it looks like mostly it's good for tracking your collection (and learning more about bootleg Lego minifigs in general, maybe--I didn't really realize until now how many different companies there are making Lego-like minifigs) rather than buying, with individual pages including sale links that are only mildly useful. like, the extremely sad TVA Loki has an AliExpress search link that apparently just searches for "blocks," which is the least helpful search term imaginable; the eBay link uses "xinh+xh1745+loki (tva)" as the search term and that's definitely better, although it doesn't actually turn up anything. maybe that one's too new to be widely available yet, I don't know. (I hope that's the case. I need him and his sad little face to come and live with me.)
anyway--eBay is a possible source. searching for "loki minifigure" gets me results for several of the new ones I’ve been seeing, and they all seem to be shipping from Japan or South Korea. the problem is they're all selling for $4.99 plus $7.49 shipping each, which is...more than I want to spend on something I know is a knockoff of some kind when I don't know anything about the quality control and I'm not guaranteed to get what's in the picture. (here's another listing asking $40 total for all 8 figures I bought yesterday, which is actually a better price, and I'd probably end up doing that if I hadn't found them elsewhere, but that's because I have a problem.)
this is why I like AliExpress, because the risks are slightly higher but the prices tend to be much lower, even with shipping prices having gone up a bit over the last couple years. as I understand it, the site is basically just a huge marketplace for tons of different sellers in Asia, like if eBay only allowed fixed-price listings and it was based in China. the vast majority of the site reads like it went through Google Translate, because it probably did. you can find...basically anything there. I have no idea if any of it's authentic. (I also don't know anything about how or where any of the knockoff stuff is made, so...there is that.) I would not, for instance, drop $300 on a Hot Toys Loki from here, even though I absolutely would have the option to do so, for the obvious reason that I'm not going to risk that much money on an item that might be a cheap knockoff or could arrive broken. there is, in general, a solid possibility of breakable things arriving broken, because decent packaging costs more. cheap shipping will be slow (by which I mean like...up to 90 days), and most purchases either won't have tracking at all or won't have accurate tracking, so this is absolutely not a place to buy anything you want to get quickly. you also don't want to just buy something and forget about it, because there are (variable but generous) time limits past which you can't get a refund if you don't receive your items. the site's UI is...mostly functional. you often have to get a little creative with your search terms to find what you want (and sometimes you won’t find what you want through searching, but through looking at related items on the pages of things that aren’t quite what you want or are what you want but aren’t a good price). you will, absolutely, come across a lot of stolen art on things like pins, t-shirts, stickers, and phone cases, which you might not realize until you see something you recognize from a fanartist you like, and obviously that sucks. listing photos are nearly always stock photos, so in many cases they won't tell you anything about the item you're actually getting. you know the Wish app, and all the crazy things people get from that? you can find all the same stuff on AliExpress, at similar levels of quality.
however, if you approach it keeping all that in mind, it can be a great resource. I can't make any guarantees about the site's safety, but to the best of my knowledge it's secure and I've never had any weird charges show up after buying something. it's also my understanding that Alibaba, the parent company, is more or less the Chinese equivalent of Amazon in terms of the amount of business it does, which would probably be pretty tough if customer data were routinely being exposed to thieves, you know? I've also successfully gotten several refunds for items that never arrived, which actually hasn't happened all that often--but knowing that it can happen and that the return period expires, I’ll check back on the site if it seems like it’s been an unusually long time and I’ll make a reminder for myself of the deadline so I can contact the seller in time if necessary.
so the way I shop there is, I don't buy expensive or fragile things in general, because I recognize there's a nonzero chance I'll get a cheap knockoff, or something that was broken in transit because the seller tossed it in a box with no padding and called it good, or sometimes nothing at all. but like eBay, the sellers and items have ratings and reviews from customers, so that helps avoid some risk. items with lots of reviews tend to include at least a few customer photos, which are great for getting a better idea of what the thing you're buying actually looks like. I took a bit of a risk last year buying a Hot Toys (or the equivalent, I actually have no idea) Steve Rogers head for about $20, for instance, but I wasn't super worried about it because the customer photos looked good, the seller I used had a lot of sales and a lot of good ratings, and it was still a lot less than I would've paid for an authentic Hot Toys Steve Rogers head--and in fact he got here just fine and he looked fantastic. I also spent about $20 for a knockoff Iron Studios Loki statue, because in that case it was like...yep I’d love the real thing, nope I’m not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on it, yep I am willing to spend $20 on something that doesn’t look quite as nice but still looks good enough for me in the customer photos. well, and I’ve also bought knockoffs I knew would look bad, because they were cheap and I want all the Lokis and I have enough of an addiction that all the Lokis does in fact sometimes mean “even ones that look really bad” to me.
anyway, uh, Lego-type minifigs. this is an especially good area to go knockoff, because--okay, apparently I can’t link to a page of HeroBloks search results for some reason, but it’s the best resource I’ve found for this type of thing that isn’t just authentic Lego figures. but if you go there and do a search for “loki” you’ll get a bunch of results and you’ll see that they come from like...9 or 10 different brands. Lego specifically has only four Loki options: Avengers Loki in black, Avengers Loki in gray for some reason (which, frankly, looks like a cheap knockoff but isn’t), movie-inaccurate Ragnarok Loki with the blue outfit and the full helmet, an ugly Classic Loki, and a mostly green Loki from I guess the first Thor movie (and then I think they’re going to release a TVA Loki, a Sylvie, and a Throg). all those other results--all those different outfits from every single Loki appearance, and different variations on those outfits, nearly all of them more screen-accurate and/or detailed than the Lego versions--are technically knockoffs. they’re better and you can buy them for way less. (I mean, a lot of them are new so I don’t have them yet, but I do have frost giant Loki, better Ragnarok Loki, better Avengers Loki, opera Loki who actually has another face that’s half-Jotun, and at least one chrome-helmet option, and they all look basically like the photos. so I think I can reasonably expect most of the new ones to look basically like their photos too.)
for reasons that I don’t understand aside from a vague guess that it’s copyright-related, AliExpress pretty much no longer shows full pictures of Lego-type figures in their listings--instead, you have to pick just based on the heads. this is a problem when lots of heads look very similar to each other! luckily, the listings also typically have the actual serial numbers for each figure, as do the HeroBloks listings, so you can cross-reference them to see what you’re really getting. for instance let’s take this listing because it’s cheap and it offers most of the Loki figures that are currently available. say you’re interested in one of the horn-less Lokis. there are...let’s see, five of them, but you have no idea what they actually look like aside from slightly different facial expressions and maybe weapons. however, the first one listed says XH1359 for its color...and what do you know, 1359 is the serial number for this Loki by a company called Xinh. okay cool, how about the last one? the “color” is listed as WM2182--and yes, HeroBloks has a listing for a Ragnarok Loki from World Minifigures with the serial number 2182. (I just ordered all 8 of the new World Minifigures ones yesterday, so again, I can’t personally guarantee yet that they’ll look as good in person as in the pictures--but I think they probably will, and more importantly they cost a whole dollar each.) and if HeroBloks doesn’t have a particular figure, you can probably find something useful just by googling the serial number.
I specifically bought from this listing yesterday because they currently have a bit of a sale going and a deal for free shipping if you buy 10 figures, and I wanted a couple duplicates, so it worked out to be the cheapest option. the same store has another listing for a bunch more Marvel characters, including a couple more Lokis I already had, so it should be pretty easy to get the free shipping so the figures are less than a dollar each and you’re only risking about $10. if you’d rather try one or two and see how it goes, it looks like this listing is probably the cheapest, with figures currently going for a little over a dollar each once you add shipping (although it’s totally possible shipping is more for me because Alaska).
that’s...probably already way more information than you really wanted, but I hope at least some of it makes sense. feel free to ask other specific questions if they come up--I might not be able to give answers exactly, but I can probably tell you what my experience has been, which is better than nothing.

I have some questions in the shopping and selling relm.
And I apologize because I think this may be my first attempt at formatting text on here lol! And additional mini-rants.
Where do you guys go for your AG custom stuff?
I just took advantage of the BBeauty Designs sale and got some eyes and wigs. Doll of a Kind is also on my radar. Washable wigs sound amazing.
I'm working on doing an enhanced pleasant company doll, and I want to call her Turbo Kirsten. My friend says this is not a good idea. She obviously doesn't know what she's talking about. 😂
I am looking for a less toxic alternative to MSC. Suggestions?
What about retired accessories?
Like, I just got my sweet Lea I've been wanting so bad and I want her collection, Lord help me lol! And it's silly, but I kind of like things like paper dolls and craft sets. So, what's your poison?
What would you recommend for best prices, honest sellers, basically getting what ya want? Ebay, Mercari, Poshmark, large FB AG groups (which I've had meltdowns twice now and stomped off/left because of shitty people lol...), local Facebook market place? Somewhere else?
I buy and sell on Mercari sellers are so flippin dishonest! I feel like I'm at a real disadvantage as a seller for trying to not be a complete d!ck.
Non-AG clothes
Do you guys have favorite Etsy shops or otherwise super cute non-AG clothes you like? Asking for funsies and because I need amazing outfits for my customs.
Ag website
Those of you who have achieved Berry status and have limited income, do you have any advice? Lol
Selling and Having a Shop
Speaking of selling on Mercari, I have been struggling with my dolly shop. I know I should be doing things differently, but I'm so exhausted and it takes a lot of work. I have some stuff on Etsy too, but that's another SEO ballgame. So I just want to do my own website maybe? I'm working on a shopify. I feel like I should just be investing in learning the dot com game and klaviyo instead of Etsy.
I have found people care about clean, professional pictures very much as well as packaging. Doll boxes are going to cost at least $6 dollars to make. People are not going to go for that. So I'm working on little wrist booklets.
Ideas on how to diy display boxes with cardboard...and hey, maybe fabric?? That would be special.
I should just dropship makeup brushes...
Basically the point of this post is, how do I human? What is the secret to being a functional adult? Ideas welcomed 😂😂😂
And I forget what else I was meaning to ask.
Someone take me to the beach.

How to shop for vintage aesthetics!
With vintage fashion and aesthetics becoming increasingly popular, I thought I'll share some of my techniques of shopping affordably for vintage clothing. A couple of disclaimers to start with, my preferred aesthetic time period for clothing is the 80s and 90s however, this does not mean that this ‘guide’ can’t be used be used for whatever vintage style you’re shopping for. This post will also be UK based as that’s where I live, some of the places where I tend to shop may apply to Europe but I'm not entirely sure! Finally this is how I shop and what I look out for when shopping for vintage clothing, if you got any of your own tips please share, vintage clothes shopping unfortunately, has become incredibly expensive :( Now all that incredibly dull stuff is out of the way, lets get into it!
The first thing I would do before even attempting to go vintage clothes shopping is research. Knowing your era and the distinctive style of that era is incredibly important. I know it sounds self- explanatory but having a good insight of the fashion and culture of your chosen vintage aesthetic will mean that you can spot certain pieces in the wild with ease. With anything if you know what you’re looking for you’ll find it a lot easier. The best research in my opinion is just asking someone who grew up or lived through that time period, they tend to remember the more obscure and weird trends that have been long forgotten. Maybe, for the greater good, I'm looking at you leg warmers. If you don’t like social interaction and I don’t blame you, I don’t like talking to old people either, watching TV shows from the time will also give you an insight. Top Of The Pops in my view is the best show to watch not because of the awful obvious lip-syncing, like how did they fool anyone when they’re playing electric guitars plugged into nothing ? But because you can see how both celebrities and normal people dressed.
Tumblr media
Other shows I would recommend have to be of course friends, we all know that Rachel Greene was a 90s fashion icon, ok. To summarise, research means that shopping for your chosen vintage aesthetic is a lot easier, you can avoid common mistakes such as buying something that’s way too modern or clothing which was not fashionable in that particular era.
When you have decided what vintage era you’re shopping for and what you are looking for, knowing where to shop is the next priority. Like I said I live in the UK so some of these are maybe UK specific and I don’t have loads of money, so that narrows down some of the options. One of the best places to look for vintage clothing is charity shops. Due to the troubling economic climate at the moment there’s like 10 charity shops in every town spreading like head lice in a primary school. Consequently, it’s probably the most accessible way to shop for vintage clothes. If you are like me and favour an 80s/ 90s aesthetic look in the mens section as most of the clothes from this era were unisex or have a more oversized boxy look which means many volunteers mistakenly put these items in the mens. Anyway who need to conform to gender norms, wear what you like! Unfortunately, some charity shops have caught on to the popularisation of vintage aesthetics as such some items will go on their online shops (Still worth a look) or prices for vintage clothing will be higher than other pieces of clothing but bear in mind these prices tend to still be lower than eBay and vintage shops. It’s really hit and miss but when you do find something it’s normally a bargain. Recently I managed to get a wind breaker for £8.99 and it even had it’s original tag still attached! Plus this method of shopping for vintage clothes is ethical and helps real good causes.
Tumblr media
Another place where I look for vintage clothing is car boot sales. Normally you find absolutely nothing but they’re still fun to go to nonetheless. Anyway you could strike it lucky and find a long lost supremes costume at a French car boot (yes that really happened!). If you do find anything the great thing about car boots is that you can let out your inner apprentice candidate and haggle on prices. Though it’s rare to find anything apart from old ladies’ bone china plates with matching bowls, if you do you tend to find something you’ll get it for a steal when compared to eBay.
Shops that specialises in selling vintage clothing obviously will have the most stock and variety of pieces however, it’s going to cost you. Vintage sales are also a possibility but though the ‘low’ price per kilo is enticing once you put one sweatshirt or a pair of jeans in that bag you’re done for. Vintage sales are only good value for money when all the items you want are super light, if not they can become super expensive real quick. Also be aware that though these are called vintage sales there are a lot of items that are not vintage in the slightest.
Tumblr media
So, how can you tell if a piece of clothing is vintage? The first thing I look at is the label. Most vintage t-shirts and jumpers will have a label sewn in, while modern clothing will have what would been the label printed into the fabric. It’s hard to explain so here’s an example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, this is not a definite rule some modern clothing will also have labels that are sewn in! Some over things to look out for to identify vintage clothing from modern is the materials. Look out for those incredibly flammable and definitely safe materials. Zips are also a big clue if a piece of clothing is vintage or not, older clothing tended to have metal zips while modern pieces have plastic. This is probably a cost cutting measure.
We all know that vintage clothing can be expensive so buying new versions of retro products can also be a possibility if you want to go for a certain retro aesthetic. This is a cheaper way of shopping however, quality and durability may vary when compared to the original product. I always buy new when it comes to shoes just because I’m not a fan of wearing someone’s else's incredibly worn 20+ years old trainers. But whatever floats your boat, I guess. Most athleisure brands like reebok will do a classic range which replicates retro shoes such as the freestyle hi which was worn by 11 in Stranger things 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brands like Casio also continues to make vintage products such as the F-91W which sometimes gets discounted to as low as £7.99. The quality of these are superb and can add retro feel to any outfit.
so, there's some of my tips for how to shop for vintage clothing, this isn't all of them but I think this post is way too long now! If you have any tips that you would like to share please write them in the comments. I love learning new things!!

We are sitting in the car waiting for James to get his bike all attached to the back. Which is taking a little while but that's okay. I'm just really tired. We just finished dinner with his family again and it was excellent and a lot of fun. But we did a lot today and I am just really looking forward to sleep.
I did sleep okay last night. But I heard everyone awake around 9 so I got up too.
To find that the water was turned off. Because one of the water heaters in the building broke. Dang. So I washed my face and brushed my teeth with my water bottle.
I felt pretty good. James and Jess were having coffee. And James had scones baking for us. I finished getting dressed. And soon Jess was sitting with me and we were doing our makeup together. It was fun.
Eventually we headed out and walked over to the café for real breakfast.
And it was good. And I am glad we have two nice cafés in walking distance. But mostly I was just really happy to be with Jess. I'm sad she's going home tomorrow because this weekend has been excellent.
Once we were done with breakfast we headed back to the house to get the car.
Off to the thrift stores we went. They were calling for snow but it only lasted a few minutes once we were inside and then it was just horrible rain. But that was okay.
I had an interaction that upset me a little though and could have dampened my whole day but I saved it. Through kindness. Me and Jess were looking at stuff and went over to the toys and another girl our age was looking took and she found a baby furby. And I was so upset I didn't find it first but excited for her. And her boyfriend came over and was like I saw that! And I said to them it's a lamb baby and they are my favorite and if you don't get it I will. And he said they are trying to fix some furbies right now and I was like that's so cool. And was trying to be positive but then she shot me a look and was putting off this vibe like she was upset with me. Like I was trying to take that furby from her. And I wasnt! I was just excited. So we walked away.
But then I was sad. And Jess went to look at shirts while I looked at coats. But I was sad and trying to shake it.
But I told Jess why I was sad and shook it off best I could and we went to look at dressed.
We loaded up this cart. Just everything we even only kind of liked went in the cart. It was hilarious. I went around the corner to the other dresses and there the girl who got the furby was. And I decided to reach out and have a conversation. Turns out she sells nostalgic 80s and 90s toys on ebay! And I told her about my Instagram and now we follow each other. And I told her if she posts furbies I'll make a post about it! It was so nice and it made me feel 1000% better.
Once me and Jess decided we had enough things we went to the dressing room. Jess went first and I organized the cart so our stuff was easier to grab. She tried on some ridicules things I picked out for her. And many just silly things she found. But she found some stuff she looked beautiful in and it was just really fun to see what she found. I tried things on a lot quicker even though I had about the same amount of stuff. I ended up getting a couple dresses and skirts. But my main great find of the day was an LL Bean jacket in light blue that I am so obsessed with. Im going to wear it tomorrow. It was a maybe at first and I actually put it back because its a little big. But I couldnt stop thinking about it and it was only $7.
The line to check out was very long. So we wandered around for a while longer. Jess found this really neat faux antique mirror but it would have been a huge production to get it to New York. So after much hemming and hawing it was left. But I did find a kneeling chair and I have wanted one for as long as I can remember so that was a well spent $15. We spent a good amount of money but we got so much stuff. Including 2 really great pairs of shoes. One are beetle boots in blue velvet with buttons, and the other are leather shoes with sherpa interior that spills out and they are while but incredible. Im really jazzed about them.
We finished up there and it was raining. But we got to the car in one piece and headed to the small goodwill down the street. I do not like this goodwill. I find them rude. But we each got one good thing. She got a bottle shaped like a fish and I got those hand gripper exercise things I wanted. But I got really upset because there was an amazing vintage suitcase I wanted to buy that didnt have a price ad that goodwill wont just go to the back and find out and they have signs about it all over. And I was just really bummed. And they were like. Well you could try again tomorrow. And my feelings are this store, of all the good wills Ive been too, has the highest amount of unpriced stuff I have seen. And they wont sell it without a price! But they also wont put a price on it. Like guys. You are just wasting everyones time. You continue to be the worst goodwill. It sucks.
So I just felt upset and wanted to go. We wanted a snack so off we went to the amish market. Except somehow I chose the wrong one? this was not the one I had been to before. It was very strange. But we did find one and I got a pretzel and she got a pickle and it was nice to walk around for a coupe minutes before we were back on the road.
We went to the other goodwill. But honestly I was a little burnt out on shopping. I didnt want to look at anymore clothes. She did get a pretty excellent planter and I got an amazing 4 set of plates shaped like sea shells. They are great. But thats all we got. And that was just fine.
We went to a diner for a late lunch. It was so cute and chrome. My favorite type of diner. The food was good but alll very hot. And I was starting to get tired.
We were about to be on our way home when I remeberd one of the things I wanted to accompish today was getting more snails and maybe a second frog and a heater. So we tried a pet store near where we were. No luck. So into Towson we went where we had great luck. I got 3 black snails. The same kind as my white ones. And a heater. No frog but as soon as we got home and got everything inside I put the snails in the tank and its like a switch was turned on in the frog.
He starts swimming around. And the snails werent all the way out of their shells yet but he was just sitting and as soon as they started moving he started moving. And now they are all motering around in the tank and I am so excited. He seems so much happier now. And the tank is already free of old worms and food. This is great.
Me and Jess sat in the living room taking tags off. And figuring out where James was. I knew he was with his friend but we were going ice skating and wasnt sure if we were waiting for him.
But we ended up going and meeting him there and it was a blast. It was so nice skating with Jess and we took pictures and I just had a really good time. James got upset after we left because he somehow lost a glove. But I keep telling him its okay. But hes mad at himself. I wish he wasnt but it happens.
We all left there and had dinner with his family again. Very expensive weekend! But the food and company was lovely. We were there until like 1030 and we were also celebrating James's mom's birthday and it was just really good. I felt really happy. But also really tired.
But once we went back to the park to get his bike we headed home. Which is where Im finishing this post. Jess just got a shower and I am going to do that next. I am very happy but also very sleepy. And tomorrow is another day. I hope you all sleep great. Have a wonderful night. Pray for snow.

Hi, I've seen some of your posts about repairing electronics and wanted to ask, are you self-employed? If you don't mind sharing, how did you get started with it? I'm trying to figure out a way to support myself, I have ADHD and don't qualify for disability but with my level of functioning I'm pretty much incapable of holding down a traditional job long-term, so my only viable option seems to be working for myself, and repairing stuff sounds like something I could do. Thanks a lot if you reply!
I’m not meaning to pry - but I want to take a moment to state that if you are an American you should know that Disability (SSDI) is not the same program as SSI - and the latter can literally be a lifesaver. If you have any sort of generic condition, or anything that starts in childhood like ADHD or Autism, it can be virtually impossible to get on Disability because that program requires a certain amount of work credits before you qualify. The latter however does NOT require any special work credits, and lots of disabled people who don’t “Qualify” for disability may still be able to get on that for emergency support. To answer your question - my history is complicated and doesn’t just go from like zero to self employed. I’ve been working since I was a kid. I lived in a town small enough that I got multiple jobs just walking into the business and saying “You should hire me for XYZ reasons.” and actually got the job on the spot. That isn’t normal at all in the modern USA, especially if your local community has more than a few thousand people. However FWIW - I do feel I can give some advice about being self employed. These days it’s a good idea to have both a product, and content. What I mean is that people love seeing skilled people do things. So if you are going to work on any sort of DIY project, you should record it with video or pictures. In addition to any sort of Etsy, Ebay, or other vendor page you might set up to sell your craft, you should be getting set up on Instagram, YouTube, and other forms of Social Media to attract attention. It’s probably easier to get reliable income these days through services like Patreon, than it is to make actually selling something you made or repaired. And that’s pretty much true for anything you might attempt to do. It doesn’t matter if your thing is repairing broken things, making music, knitting, writing, whatever! Getting an engaged audience allows you to exist as a *person* who is creating something, and not simply another soulless shop online that exists as some sort of depersonalized robotic abstraction.

So I've been very lazy with my studying toward witch craft and therefore I'm going back to the beginning~ lol. Any advice for a little witch?
Some Advice for Getting Started:
Tumblr media
*Start with things that interest you!*
I know i get terribly bored very quickly (gemini curse lmao) so i find that if i dive into stuff i’m interested in learning about, that it will tend to hold my attention longer and help me get back into the swing of things! So in my example one of my first things i researched when i was starting out was about Crystals and their properties/uses in magic! From there i was able to use that as a sort of base jumping off point for my magical practice! And if you find something you were learning about doesn’t seem like it fits you/your style/ your practice then drop it and move on to the next thing!
*Ask Questions!*
No Questions Are Stupid Questions No Questions Are Stupid Questions No Questions Are Stupid Questions!!!! Questions mean you care enough to try and learn more about something! I’m pretty much always here and will try my best to answer as best as i am able And if I can’t i will do my best to help direct you to someone more knowledgeable!
*TAKE YOUR TIME!*
This one is important because most of the time i feel like i see baby/beginner witches try really REALLY hard to “reach the same level” as other witches as quickly as possible when in reality that just hurts THEIR path in the long run. Your path is your own, take it at your own pace. Enjoy the little bumps along the way and find the “Roses of your Path” (the things that make you want to stop and appreciate them: the satisfaction of calling your first Storm, the chill of the night air when you set out your first Full Moon Water, the spark when you find that one crystal.) Enjoy it. Enjoy your path, Enjoy your Craft.
*Use the Things you Already Own!*
Another thing i see beginners getting hung up on (myself included, i was/am extremely guilty of this lol) is wanting to go out and buy a ton of supplies. try looking around your house for things that can be re purposed. Old Spaghetti Sauce Jars can be cleaned and used as spell jars, deity altars/shrines, or ingredient storage! Take pictures from old magazines and make a collage Altar on paper! Use a composition notebook as your Book Of Shadows! Your old broken glasses case can be used as a case for your portable altar! Dig around and see if there are extra candles you haven’t used in a while! Wash out and save those eggshells from your cooking to use as spell ingredients! It takes some creative thinking but you can reclaim pretty much anything for your craft!
*Look for Bargains!*For one thing prices can be outrageous for actual craft materials: like Crystals and Gems? Truly truly truly outrageous. So keep your eyes peeled for bargains and deals! Some of the best places to look for things on the cheap would be Dollar Stores, Flea Markets, Thrift Shops, Garage/Estate Sales! Most of the time in those places you can try haggling to get things at a cheaper price (or get more for less.) It really just depends on the place but you can find the most interesting assortments of things! Keep your eyes peeled in your general day to day life as well see if there are sales at your local grocery store for seed packets, seasonal items/holiday items (look for the sales afterwords to really save haha) The internet is a great place to look, i know Ebay has sellers who sell raw crystals/ crystal chunks by the pound. There’s also places to buy spices in bulk too . *Don’t Compare Your Path to Others!*Your Path is Your Path, Their Path is Their Path. Being online and part of the witchy community in tumblr means that there are a lot of ideas being shared from people’s paths and their views on how they think magic should be practiced. What works for them might not work for you and vice versa. Only YOU can decide what is best for you and your path. and on that note:*Figure Out What YOU Want Out of Your Path!*When you get some time, sit down and write out all the things you want to get from your path and think critically about how you want magic to work in your daily life. Do you want it to be Super Formal or more casual? perhaps a mix of the two?  Test the waters!
