Do you consider Cilla to be apart of the MM?

I wouldn't consider her apart of it at all. It was mostly men that were part of his MM. But there was ONE woman that was part of it. Elvis considered her like a sister to him and kind of like one of the guys. Her name was Judy Spreckels.

But I feel like there were a lot of people were like considered part of the MM and those who weren't. But they were always around like the rest of them. Like Jerry he was but also wasn't? (I read that he wasn't really considered part of the main group). His stepbrothers weren't consider members either, even though they were always around when they eventually began to tour with him.

But I think the main ones were Sonny West, Red West, Billy Smith, Lamar Fike, Joe Esposito, Marty Lacker, Alan Fortas, George Klein, Charlie Hodge.

A few other people who were members at one pint were Cliff Gleaves, Richard David, Jimmy Kingsley, Ray Sitton, Mike Keeton, Dave Hebler, Sam Thompson.

James Price Johnson (February 1, 1894 – November 17, 1955) was a pianist and composer. A pioneer of stride piano, he was one of the most important pianists in the early era of recording, and like Jelly Roll Morton, one of the key figures in the evolution of ragtime into what was eventually called jazz. He was a major influence on Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Art Tatum, and Fats Waller, who was his student.

He composed many hit songs, including the unofficial anthem of the Roaring Twenties, “The Charleston,” and he remained the acknowledged king of New York jazz pianists through most of the 1930s. His artistry, influence on early popular music, and contributions to the musical theatre are often overlooked, and as such, he has been referred to by musicologist David Schiff as “The Invisible Pianist.”

He may be thought of as both the last major pianist of the classic ragtime era and the first major jazz pianist. He is considered a bridge between ragtime and jazz. His musical legacy is present in the body of work of his pupil, Thomas “Fats” Waller, as well as scores of other pianists who were influenced by him, including Art Tatum, Donald Lambert, Louis Mazetier, Pat Flowers, Cliff Jackson, Hank Duncan, Claude Hopkins, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Don Ewell, Johnny Guarnieri, Dick Hyman, Dick Wellstood, Ralph Sutton, Joe Turner, Neville Dickie, Mike Lipskin, and Butch Thompson.

Two Romare Bearden paintings bear the name of his compositions: Carolina Shout, and Snow(y) Morning.

On September 16, 1995, the USPS issued a James P. Johnson 32-cent commemorative postage stamp.

They were dropped from jazz musicians’ catalogs, performances, and recordings and relegated to period collections and specialty bands. “Oh, Lady Be Good!” was one of a dozen songs in the all-Gershwin Broadway score. Also becoming hits were “So Am I,” “Little Jazz Bird,” “The Half of It, Dearie, Blues,” and “Fascinating Rhythm.” Lady Be Good was also a turning point in the career of Cliff Edwards. Kathy Kallick and Friends - Dodi Kallick (Live Oak/22)

In 2001, Kathy Kallick released My Mother’s Voice, an album of songs learned from Dodi Kallick, who was a folksinger and educator in Chicago’s thriving folk scene of the 1950s and ‘60s. Dodi helped found the Old Town School Of Folk Music and several iconic venues – and passed on the music to her daughter. George Hauenstein in Country Standard Time, noted that the songs played and swapped by Dodi "are, for the most part, very familiar, the treatment given them by Kallick and company is fresh and very pleasing,” while WPLN Radio’s Dave Higgs says that “the CD contains a mouth-watering array of talent who play these songs better than they've ever been played before.” The only thing the album lacked: performances by Dodi Kallick herself. However, a reel-to-reel tape was discovered in the WFMT archives labeled "Dodi Kallick Midnight Special, 1966 and 1969.” That’s inspired an 18-track sequel to Kathy’s 2001 album, combining new recordings by Kathy and her musical friends of additional songs learned from Dodi with highlights from those Midnight Special radio shows. Here are the US representatives who voted against the US pro-LGBT+ Equality Act

The US Equality Act is to outlaw discrimination against LGBTQ people in housing, credit, jury service, public accommodations, and federal funding.

The House of Representatives passed the legislation yesterday, but it is unlikely that the Senate will follow up, given the Republican Party's increasing hostility to queer people. They are currently weaponizing transphobia in an attempt at mobilizing their base.

In the Senate the bill will require at least 10 Republicans to vote with all Democrats to advance past the so-called filibuster.

Metro Weekly has listed the representatives that voted against the law in the House.

Sorry, St Bluebell isn’t here today.  Besides how much I hate Hobby Lobby, the one potentially rage inducing issue I bring up on this site is voting.  After I have encouraged all of you to register and cast your votes, these people voted to nullify the election results in states where their candidate didn’t win.  They did so *after* the assault on the Capitol Building, after they had seen the consequences of their attempt to undermine the peaceful transfer of power in this country.

Every year our government becomes more powerful, gains more power over the daily lives of its citizens.  Its knows where you live, it knows who you talk to on the phone, it knows what library books you checked out, it knows what you had for breakfast.  The most important issue facing us today is whether we, the people, will ensure that we have a government we can trust before we lose all control of it.  Every single one of these people should be primaried by their own party and never allowed to hold any public office again.
