To get away from the tension at their homes, Miracle and Jay accepted May's invitation to spend the first days of summer at a cabin in Granite Falls. Jay didn't even have to ask for permission because Leif was happy to have him out of the house for a few days until they both calmed down. As for Miracle well, she did ask for permission, but may have forgotten to mention that Jay was coming too 😉
We all really loved the music from this show right? Talking to Mirela and Kess I thought it might be fun for us to pick a non-soundtrack song that gave us mega Last Twilight feels and got us through the Show.
I fall deep into music when I become obsessed with something and everything just reminds me of that one thing.
I'm going to cheat like normal I have so many songs on my current playlist that remind me of Last Twilight and Mork specifically.
My Recommendations:
This song just gave me so many Mork feels, the themes of unwavering love and selflessness in the face of darkness just embody his feelings for Day. Half Life with the lyrics "I'll give you my half life so you'll see tomorrow" and "You know I said it, I'd never let you fade away" reminds me of the lengths we see Mork go for Day, even if it meant sacrificing his own feelings to ensure that the person he loved was okay. - Z
"But when all is said and done, you're only thing I see, my love
So tell me what you're lookin' for
You're written in the stories, a livin' masterpiece
So when all is said and done, why you standin' next to me, my love?
So tell me what you're lookin' for"
I feel like I shades of both Day and Mork in these lyrics, they are both so broken, and don't believe anyone would choose them. - Z
"I knew this day would come
I know I should be ready for it but I'm not
Instead I just feel stupid
Part of me is losing
Something that I never had
It wasn't mine
I'm done, I'm done
I won't reach out
Swear I'll keep out
I'll move on, move on
And let you be happy
Without me
At least I won't be wondering
How it goes
I knew it had to end
Count down started from the moment that we met
But I chose to ignore it
I thought I was better for it
I didn't know I'd feel right now
What I felt then"
Episode 11 vibes so strong with this song. Breaking my Mork heart with the idea that maybe he was waiting for it all to end because he felt so undeserving of Day's love and the opportunity to walk by his side. - Z
This song flips between Day and Mork for me but the lyrics:
"Won't you put a knife right thru my heart
Leave without a word into the dark
Cause I don't deserve to know your love
And the thought of losing us tears me apart"
Crush my heart just like the end of Episode 11 - This bit is so Mork, he just needs Day here and instead he's rejected. - Z
"A moment is worthless no meaning, purpose
Every breath is just wasted
If you are not the center of my world
I'm just drifting, barely existing
Cause every minute without you is worthless
Without you is worthless
And you know the state of my condition
Yet you hold me anyway and
I won't a step unless it's your direction
Where was I, before I finally realized"
This song just resonates in me how Mork made Day his every reason and purpose and how he shaped his identity and outlook on life through Day's 'eyes' and built it on what he thought Day needed from him and how his sense of fulfillment was built on being by Day's side. - Z
Mirela's Picks:
This song reminds me of Mork's heartbreak and loneliness. It's about him missing his sister, yearning for Day struggling to move on, and wanting to get back to a time where he can be with the people he loves, a place that feels like home. - M
This one is one of my favorite songs ever. I added it to the LT playlist a long time ago, watching them being brave and overcoming their conditions together. Their journey was just as inspiring as this song is to me. It's a song about starting over, never giving up, and carrying on with hope. It's about living your life to the fullest, having perseverance, and not letting the fire inside of you die out. It also reminds me of the poster from episode one "Too fast to live, too young to die". - M
Kess' Choice:
“If I knew I’d only get one more sunset with you … I’d hold you closer, kiss you slow while the world’s on fire” — This song embodies how much Mork loves Day; how he wants to give him all the time he can; cherish every moment with him. - K
I know Kess and I both really loved Jay Garche's 'Last Twilight (William Jakrapatr | Last Twilight (ภาพสุดท้าย) Ost. | English Cover)' it's AMAZING!!!!

Cowboy Carter: Beyonce's much-anticipated country album and her resilience.
In April of 2016, Beyonce released her much anticipated sixth studio album, Lemonade. The album received its well-deserved praise and acclaim, as well as lots of media attention. Lemonade came with several surprises. First, a hard-hitting, undeniably raw film and visuals to go alongside the music. Second, allusions to the fact that her husband, Jay Z, had been unfaithful to her with “Becky with the good hair.” And third, which came a few months later, a remix of “Daddy Lessons” featuring the iconic female country trio, The Chicks, that was performed at the 2016 Country Music Awards.
The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, entered the limelight in the 90s upon the release of their albums Wide Open Spaces and Fly. However, The Chicks’ reputation suffered in 2003 after they spoke out against the war in Iraq, something that was unheard of in the country genre (Knopper, 2022). Lead singer Natalie Maines expressed serious disappointment in then-president George W. Bush while on stage in London. Soon enough, their music was pulled from radio stations after listeners complained about The Chicks and their political statements. This controversy still follows them today and was rehashed after their performance with Beyonce at the 2016 CMAs.
The country music genre is notorious for its patriotic, America-loving, conservative artists and audience that chastise artists who don’t agree with their political views. So, it wasn’t much of a shock when several artists and country fans were filled with rage when Beyonce, a black woman, took the stage at the 2016 CMAs alongside The Chicks. Fans called for a CMAs boycott before Beyonce even entered the stage (Dailey, 2024). It is undeniable that Beyonce’s identity as a black woman played a large role in the controversy surrounding her performance, but her activism surrounding police reform and Black Lives Matter earlier in 2016 certainly played a role in this as well, much like what happened to The Chicks in 2003. Even though the five minutes Beyonce and The Chicks performed together broke records for CMAs viewership, the performance was completely erased from their website and YouTube channel after the backlash.
Eight years later, Beyonce is set to release her very first country album, Cowboy Carter, and pay homage to the black roots of country music as a Texas native. Yesterday, Beyonce shared a lengthy Instagram post, illustrating her thought process behind the album and more details that were highly anticipated by the Beyhive. Her statements prove that the hate she received after performing at the CMAs only motivated her to go deeper into the genre (how fitting for a Virgo). She said that the album was “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed… and it was very clear that I wasn’t.” She goes on to share that “the criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me.”
Beyonce’s experience at the CMAs and the backlash she received upon the announcement of her country album are exemplary of the omnipresent racism, sexism, and bigotry that is still deeply rooted in American culture today. Beyonce has received acclaim from some of the most talented artists to live (Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, etc.), yet her presence as a black woman in the music industry is still unpalatable to some. She has been greatly mistreated by both the media and other artists in the country genre, who have made it clear that they do not welcome her into the country scene despite her roots as a Houston, Texas native. As previously mentioned, the country genre has welcomed many new female artists (Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, etc.), but they all happen to be white.
Beyonce’s ability to turn the painful experience she had after the 2016 CMAs into a country album comeback is illustrative of the pure resilience and power that black women hold. She has already become the first black woman to have a number-one hit on the Country Billboard Hot 100. Although the racist backlash is still flooding in, Beyonce’s actions have repeatedly opened doors for more women of color and have forced the country genre to take a huge step towards being more inclusive.
It's Always Fair Weather (Gene Kelly, Stanley Donen, 1955)
Cast: Gene Kelly, Dan Dailey, Cyd Charisse, Dolores Gray, Michael Kidd, David Burns, Jay C. Flippen. Screenplay: Betty Comden, Adolph Green. Cinematography: Robert J. Bronner. Art direction: Cedric Gibbons, Arthur Lonergan. Film editing: Adrienne Fazan. Music: André Previn, songs by André Previn, Betty Comden, Adolph Green.
Since they satirized (albeit mildly) Hollywood and Broadway in their screenplays for Singin' in the Rain (Gene Kelly, Stanley Donen, 1952) and The Band Wagon (Vincente Minnelli, 1953), it seems almost inevitable that Betty Comden and Adolph Green should set their sights on television, and particularly TV advertising, in the screenplay for It's Always Fair Weather. Maybe it's just that television was seen as the enemy in Hollywood, but the last in their triad of MGM musicals of the 1950s seems a little sharper in tone than than the other two. The movie scores some nice hits on TV tearjerker shows like Ralph Edwards's This Is Your Life and on absurd commercials: The row of dancing soapboxes is a hit at the actual commercial in which a dancer wore a giant Old Gold cigarette pack. The unsentimental tone is there from the very beginning, when after a trio of just-demobilized GIs vows to reunite and celebrate their friendship ten years later, the film jumps ahead to a sour and disillusioning revelation of their midlife failures. Ted Riley (Gene Kelly) has become something of a lowlife, the manager of a boxer he won in a crap game; Angie Valentine (Michael Kidd) had wanted to become a famous chef, but runs a hamburger joint in Schenectady that he calls the Cordon Bleu; and Doug Hallerton (Dan Dailey), once an aspiring artist, is now an advertising executive with a sour stomach and an impending divorce. It all ends well, of course, with the help of a brainy TV producer played by Cyd Charisse and her feather-brained star played by Dolores Gray. Although André Previn's song score is only passable, it supports some fine production numbers staged by Kelly and Donen that take full advantage of the CinemaScope screen, like the trio in which Kelly, Dailey, and Kidd dance with garbage can lids on their feet, or the split-screen effect in which they perform a perfectly synchronized number with each in a different setting. Kelly gets one of his big solo numbers, a kind of echo of the celebrated "Singin' in the Rain" routine, but this time on roller skates, and Dailey, Charisse, and Gray also have good solos. (Kidd, better known as choreographer than performer, got shorted.) I think one reason that It's Always Fair Weather may not have the reputation of the other MGM musicals of the period is that when it came time to release it on television, the big numbers had to be chopped up, panned-and-scanned for small TV screens. Fortunately, it works well letterboxed on today's bigger, wider screens.
