WIP - Lament: The Aerie
A little thing I’m working on that will probably appear months from now. All the stuff with the Willow series, encouraged me to write some more Enfys Nest, Jade’s sister in Chaos and from another universe, a year or so before Solo.

Wide-eyed
Enfys follows Pags to the small chamber that Weazel had pointed to. There are three couches along the walls; they choose the one opposite the door. Enfys pulls out a small card she had been given and inserts it into a slot in a table nearest to where she has sat and buckled in.
She looks at Pags before inserting the card all the way in. Pags takes a deep breath and nods. Enfys finishes inserting the card. There is a pause, then her stomach drops as the lift car starts to move downward. For a moment there is darkness, then the transparisteel windows change their tint.
Beside her, Enfys feels Pags draw in a deep breath at what they see. The expanse of the planet, with the backdrop of tiny lights in a vast velvet curtain shows through the windows of the car, as well as the maglev tube that runs all the way down to the surface.
Pags pulls out a datapad and punches in a sequence of buttons. She stares at the ‘pad, then looks up at Enfys. She gives a brief nod at the results.
“So what are we doing?” Enfys asks.
“Sitting on our asses in the vastness of space, with only a few centimeters between us and eternity?” Pags replies, her voice clearly unsure.
“Not too much different, really, than jumping on an unfamiliar speederbike, drunk, and taking off after an armed freighter,” Enfy replies, her voice as dry as the desert world that feat had occurred on.
“I knew what I was doing,” Pags protests sharply.
“Obviously,” Enfys retorts.
“Asshole,” Pags ends the conversation with.
“Takes one to know one, Lowest.”
Enfys is quiet for a moment, then reaches out and takes Pags’ hand gently. Pags turns to her and nods, smiling for a couple of seconds. She turns back to look out at the view. Enfys sees her face darken as her eyes fall on something. She turns to focus on that something.
An Imperial star destroyer, moving slowly and stately towards an orbital graving dock. Enfys squeezes Pags hand and says, “I’m here with you, Pags.”
Pags nods and turns away. Before she does, a slight smile comes over her face as their view shows one deactivated engine of the three main ones; the damage to it is apparent from the burn marks, as well as the fact it is exposed downward at an angle from the rest of the ship.
The datapad beeps. Pags pushes a button and smiles as a hooded figure comes up over the device, after a couple of seconds of processing. Enfys notices that Fulcrum doesn’t wear her masker; her true face—or at least what Enfys knows as her true face—breaks into a wide smile.
“Hello my babies,” Fulcrum, or Jana Roshti as at least Enfys knows her, says. “It’s great to see you both.”
“You, too,” Enfys and Pags say at the same time. They look sheepishly at each other, then turn to see Fulcrum’s Smirk. She grows serious after a couple of breaths. “Ina asked me to call you, Chieftain,” she says, using Meglann’s codename. “I’m sorry about your mother. She was a powerful woman. She also loved you dearly.”
Enfys feels her eyes tickle, as she thought she had finally move past whenever her mother was mentioned. Pags takes her hand in her other one as well.
“I guess that jet-jockey is trying to get you to talk me out of this whole thing.”
Fulcrum’s eyes gaze at her. Enfys turns away slightly, to break the gaze of those powerful blue eyes. “No, dear,” she says. “She respects your choice. I just called to say that I know this path you’re on. It can lead to even more pain, if you let it consume you.” The Smirk returns. “Though I would never say it to them, you’ve got some other powerful women who are there to help you. They’ll have your back. And Ina cares deeply about you.” She looks at Pags. “I think this one might, as well.”
“Meh,” Pags says.
Enfys rolls her eyes. Jana looks away from the pickup and nods. “Gotta run. Love you both.” As the holo fades, she adds, “Don’t let the Dragon intimidate you. He respects strength, even though he might be a cantankerous asshole about it.”
The lift slows. Enfys realizes they had passed through atmosphere into the dark of the night. She barely has time to register the high, shining buildings, before the car passes to the inside of an old, stately building. They both get up and exit the car. A young woman with skin the same hue as Enfys’ nods and points towards an exit.
A landspeeder waits there, the rear door open. Enfys looks at Pags, then gets in. She stops short as she sits and sees the older human male sitting opposite them. He looks at them with piercing blue eyes set in craggy features. She half expects him to stick his tongue out like his nickname suggests and draw it back in.
After a moment or two, he reaches over and holds his hand out. “I’m Bel Iblis,” he says in a voice with a mixture of accents, not the least is an Outer Rim drawl mixed with a Corellian. “I understand you want to join my sons and daughters of chaos.”
She doesn’t say anything, but can feel Pags grinning at her discomfiture. She steels herself and says. “If they’re worth my time, old man. And if you are.”
Enfys wonders if she is going to dissolve into a pile of ash from the look he gives, while Pags sits next to the pile laughing like a hellhound on the scent.
After a moment or two of making her squirm, the look in his eyes soften with a broad grin. “You’ll do, Chieftain. You’ll do.”
She still doesn’t relax, though.
“What you and those other ingrates are planning, will require some subtlety—probably a bit more than you’re used to.” He looks at Pags. “I think Tionn, the matriarch of the Sal-Solo faction will be impressed by your title, your Lowest. You might work on that angle. Princess Intense, here, might work on her whelp, Thrackan. Hammer already might have an in with him as well, on Jadenia through Fulcrum’s strip joint.” He stops, growing thoughtful.
Enfys and Pags look at one another, wondering how he knows all three of their nicknames for each other, mostly coming from Meglann—Hammer.
He looks up. “How do y’all feel about boloball?”

Včera jsem před odchodem na silvestrovskou párty (viděla jsem při ní zcela ikonický film, ale o tom v jiném postu) zkonzumovala další díl Nemocnice na kraji města. A byl to ještě větší banger než díl Rozvod. Zde mé poselství národům.
mnohoruký ředitel školy z Dívky na koštěti přišel do nemocnice, aby dal po hubě Abrhámovi (spal mu s dcerou a vzal si od ní peníze na své buržoazní japonské auto Honda), bohužel mu v tom bylo zabráněno :(

byla jsem naprosto šokována zjištěním, že legendární zdravotní sestra Ina... *chvíle napětí* ...se jmenuje Jiřina 😱; co všechno je ještě jinak??? nevěřím ničemu a nikomu
primář Sova seřve Elišku Balzerovou a dovede ji k agresivním slzám (žádný estetický slzičky, ale pořádnej rybník), nikdo se jí u toho nezastane, ale Kopecký to pak jde za svým boyfriendem Sovou vyžehlit po pracovní době (Sova/Štrosmajer by mohl být náš vedoucí český old men yaoi pár, kdyby český národ nebyl homofobní)

uprostřed jejich sedánku přijíždí Daniela Kolářová, která je v posledních dvou dílech drsná jak šmirgl a chladná jak ruská zmrzlina, aby mu oznámila, že Sova mladší unesl jejich dceru (tato epizoda se jmenuje Únos btw), čekám drama, ale skončí to v depresi, dokonce lituju kokota mladého Sovu, starý Sova je taky v slzách, je to doják jako kráva, nebudu vám lhát, v tomhle seriálu herci dokonce opravdu hrajou, to se nevidí často
(POV: tvůj syn unesl tvoji vnučku a tvoji bývalou snachu nenapadne nic lepšího, než tě v tom uprostřed noci angažovat)
další šok: Janžurka spí s Cvachem, a válejí se po sobě rovnou na chodbě (Grey's Anatomy could never)

Jana Štěpánková (jméno její postavy ve vší upřímnosti neznám, málo ji oslovují) je těhotná, ale nevíme, kdo je otec, přičemž z tohoto faktu je dělán velmi feministický akt, jsem hodně překvapená, furt je rok 1977
a konečně se více rozvíjí vztah Štrosmajera a jeho cringe fail dcery, která je úplně neuvěřitelná, je to jako sledovat voliče SPD skládat souvětí, nechcete to vidět, ale nemůžete odtrhnout oči; nebudu vás napínat, prostě chodí s Kodetem

UNEARTHING THE DAYS OF THE DOMINION RAJ....OOPS FREE INDIA ! - FROM THE BOOKS- ‘INDIA REMEMBERED’ & ‘DAUGHTER OF EMPIRE’, BY PAMELA MOUNTBATTEN.
1. A letter to Mountbatten by his cousin, King of Eng,George VI, dt 13th Aug 1947, honors his admirable work at having divided the Hindus & Muslims into 2 different dominions, & how either of the 2 couldn't have stood alone in the world.
2. When Nehru came to invite Mountbatten as first Gov Gen of India, he presented him with an envelope he said had names of new Govt.
Opened after he left..was a blank piece of paper.
Pamela Mountbatten writes,in rush of events,someone stuffed in the wrong piece of paper.
3. Do you know-
Aug 15 was regarded as a inauspicious day in itself, as clearly known to everybody then, that being the reason all 'independence' proceedings had to be done at Aug 14 midnight!
Yet of course, Aug 15 had to be the date,as the date Japan (& INA practically) surrendered to US.
4. Do you know-
After the swearing-in of Gov Gen & Cabinet Ministers of 'Free India' on Aug 15, 1947, Britain's national anthem “God Save The King” was played in the Durbar Hall, followed by “Jana Gana Mana
!
& Mountbatten read out the King's message to the new Dominion of India!
5. In the King's message read out to the new 'Dominion of Britain, India', the newly selected Gov Gen of 'Free India' also said “Let us gratefully acknowledge that while our achievement is in no small measure due to our own suffering & sacrifices, it is also the result of world forces & events and last though not least it is the consummation and fulfillment of the historic tradition and democratic ideas of the British race”.
6. Viceroy Mountbatten, gives national radio address to India from AIR, on June 3 1947, announcing how 2 Dominions of Britain, Pakistan & Hindustan were to be created by Aug 1947.
Aug 4 fell on Gandhi's 'Silence Day', but Mountbatten’s interview of Gandhi went well, & Gandhi accepted the proposed 2 new Dominions of Britain, India & Pakistan.
7. (GANDHI'S MOST BLATANT LIE) :
On June 4 1947 Prayer Meet, after interview with Mountbatten, Gandhi as never before, speaks on his weekly Monday silence day:
'If both of us-Hindu & Muslim-cannot agree on anything else(aside from partition) then the Viceroy is left with no choice.'
This,despite knowingly fully well how new Brit PM Atlee's Cabinet Mission Plan of Feb 1946, immediately following the Royal Navy Mutiny, had openly via then Viceroy Wavell offered a unified India in 'Grouping Plan' (previously blogged).
That Jinnah accepted & Nehru rejected.
8. UNKNOWN FACTS:
Pamela Mountbatten, attending Gandhi's Prayer Meeting, writes how it would begin with a verse from the Koran, followed by chanting of an Arabic hymn, followed by 2 mins silence, & finally a 40 min discourse.
P.S. Never knew this 'universal' fact before.
9. Some fascinating tales of holidaying by Gov Gen & wife Edwina & Nehru in Apr 1948:
Father Mountbatten & daughter Pamela would tactfully fall behind & allow Nehru & Edwina to walk alone together ahead in the woods.
Also leaving them alone in rooms.
Of course as cure for stress.

P.S. Let’s provide some background to this ‘Dominion Raj’, namely when Mountbatten & Nehru had their first important meeting, in March 1946 in Singapore, as mentioned by Mountbatten in foreword to Nehru’s sister Pt Vijaya Lakshmi's book 'The Scope of Happiness:A Personal Memoir'..on events of March 1946 that "was the beginning of a deep friendship between Nehru & Edwina & me". Namely, persuading the heavily watched/spied Nehru to NOT lay wreath on INA Memorial, the same INA memorial commemorating the achievements & success of Subhas Chandra Bose & his allies the Japanese troops, that Mountbatten had gotten demolished in 1945 itself. Writing how Nehru followed his instructions of not going to this memorial, and how those 9 days went by extremely well, a pattern of behavior that, in Mountbatten’s words were “the beginning of a deep friendship between Nehru & Edwina & him”. A meeting that per many historians, in their analyses atleast, led to demolition & replacement of Gandhi-British pact with Nehru-British pact too.
PS. Few interesting facts outside of Pamela Mountbatten’s book, mentioned below-
1. Do you know what reason British PM Cement Atlee gave, for removing Lord Wavell from the Viceroyship of India after just 3.25 yrs (a most unusual thing as most Viceroys served from 5-7.5 yrs), & suddenly appointing Lord Mountbatten to the job in Feb 1947?
A. In PM Atlee's words, "Mountbatten has an extraordinary facility for getting on with all kinds of people. He is also blessed with an unusual wife."

2. Ex- British PM Winston Churchill wrote a letter to new PM Clement Atlee, on July 1 1947,asking him to correct name of Atlee’s new bill to 'India Dominion Bill' & not ‘India Independence Bill’, as India was still going to owe allegiance to The King after Aug 1947, & hence not a independent community.
Only response Atlee had 3 days later, was saying "Other appointed Dominion heads disagree, & say they're independent within the Commonwealth".
Which we know is hogwash, via several blogs herein, & basic egs. like Nehru seeking King's approval in Apr 1948 to appoint Ind's next Gov Gen.

And btw, that both Atlee & Churchill knew about privately too, as evidenced by this May 21, 1947 Churchill letter to Atlee, agreeing to support 'terms of granting Dominion Status to India' if made good on by the Indians, showing that real 'deal' with Nehru over being given Dominion Status, was much more than even the King allegiance bit, which Churchill & Atlee publicly spat on later, rather something both had agreed on earlier.

My visit and Salute to the legend Captain Ram Singh Thakuri. INA’s ‘Singing Soldier’ Who Created the Tune of India’s National Anthem. A member of Netaji Bose's Indian National Army, Captain Ram Singh Thakuri created the tune of India's national anthem and gave us iconic songs like 'Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja'. Yet few know his story. Captain Thakuri joined the army in 1927 at the Dharamsala cantonment. Having been posted to Singapore, he was taken in as a prisoner of war in 1942. But even then, he was one of the few people who were able to evade the clutches of torture, as the captivators would call him on for his charming musical abilities. He joined Subhash Chandra Bose’s newly formed Indian National Army (INA) during that time, where his skills were employed to compose tunes that would inspire the spirit of patriotism. In his brief, Bose said to him, “The song should have such an indelible impact and force that the Cathay Building should ‘break’ into two parts and the sky should become visible.” Under this command, Captain Thakuri composed the Qaumi Tarana, which would go on to become the anthem of the INA. Sung by 30 lakh Indians at that time, its impact echoed vibrations of inspiration. The army man and musician was the one to give the lyrics and music for the famous song ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’. He also composed the beat behind the country’s national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ which was written by Rabindranath Tagore. Captain Thakuri was awarded the title of ‘Emeritus Musician’ by the Uttar Pradesh government in 1947.
