Israeli media is reporting the arrival of dozens of missiles and drones fired from Iran, most of which they claim were intercepted.

According to the Zionist media, while no one was killed in the Iranian strikes, at least one young girl was wounded by shrapnel from an intercepted drone and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Already, Israeli officials are calling for counterstrikes, while the American media refuses to acknowledge the attack on the consulate building of the Iranian embassy that led to the current round of attacks.

The strikes represented the first time Iran has launched direct strikes on "Israel".

Occupation authorities claim that none of drones launched by the Iranians made it through the occupation's air defenses, some missiles succeeded in hitting their targets, while at least 20 missiles never made it to the borders of occupied Palestine.

According to one Israeli official, more than 200 drones and missiles were fired into the occupied Palestinian territories in all.

For now, while the Biden administration continues to reaffirm public support for the Israeli occupation, privately, the President has told Netanyahu he won't back an Israeli counter to the counterstrikes.

It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.

So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.

Reuters reporters at the site in the Mezzeh district of Damascus saw emergency workers clambering atop rubble of a destroyed building inside the diplomatic compound, adjacent to the main Iranian embassy building. Emergency vehicles were parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole by the debris.

Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in its Quds Force, which is an elite foreign espionage and paramilitary arm.

This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.

The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon

Tehran suggests Qatar most likely venue for Iran-US nuclear deal talks

Tehran (The Times Groupe)- Iran and the US will likely hold talks in Qatar, mediated by the European Union, to close the remaining gaps in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal framework, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

An Iranian news outlet affiliated with Iran’s top security body, Nour News, argued on Twitter on Sunday that Doha has a better chance of hosting the forthcoming talks than other Persian Gulf countries since it is “working to resume talks on lifting sanctions.”

Iran and the EU broke a three-month deadlock in the Vienna nuclear talks on Monday after EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkani in Tehran.

Top EU diplomats announced in a press conference after the marathon meetings that the next round of talks will be held in a Persian Gulf country in a different format from Vienna.

Washington and Tehran will hold future talks mediated by his EU team, he said, noting that the economic and nuclear aspects of the deal have been resolved and now it’s just a question of “political difficulties.”

“I don’t know if either side will be able to overcome its political difficulties,” he concluded.

A major dispute between Iran and the US stems from the delisting of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-linked organizations and the assurance that the future US administration will not walk out on the agreement again.

Neither the host country nor the exact date of the talks were specified by Josep Borrell, fueling speculation that either Oman or Qatar could be hosting the talks.

Last month, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani visited Tehran and held extensive talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, including nuclear negotiations.

The Qatari leader said his country has “always had a positive view” of Vienna talks and believes dialogue is the only path to resolution.

It led to speculation that the Qatari ruler was trying to mediate to break the stalemate in Vienna talks and unfreeze Iran’s frozen assets.

His trip to Tehran came a day after EU deputy foreign policy chief Enrique Mora held talks with Iranian officials in Tehran.

Qatar has yet to confirm that it will host the upcoming talks, according to the Iranian government.

Six months after Hamas' brutal terror attack on October 7, I wish to express my outrage regarding the attack against the State of Israel by the Iranian regime, which once again undermines Security Council resolutions, fosters instability, and poses a grave threat to international peace and security. Today, Iran has launched a direct attack from within its territory of more than 200 UAVs, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles towards Israel in clear violation of the UN Charter and international law. Iran has also publicly taken pride in the attack. The attack is a severe and dangerous escalation.

Iran continues to violate its international obligations, evidenced by today's attack on Israel in violation of Security Council resolution 2231 (2015), and by accelerating the pace of its weapons transfers to Hezbollah in violation of Security Council Resolution 1701. Iran has been the architect of instability for years, through Hamas, the Houthis, Hezbollah and other proxies. But it is now standing front and center in its actions to fulfill its ambition to attack Israel.

These attacks on Israel are part of a dangerous trend of deterioration as reflected in my various letters to you over the past years, posing a concrete threat to the peace and security of the entire region. Israel has warned the international community of Iran's aspirations, beyond its terror activities and support of terror proxies, including the funding and arming of both Hamas and Hezbollah. The Iranian attack follows the seizure of a Portuguese civilian cargo ship by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The gravity and volume of the attacks are unprecedented, and are a flagrant violation of Israel's sovereignty, of international law, and of Security Council resolutions. Iran poses a direct threat to international peace, and brazenly violates the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions. The time has come for the Security Council to take concrete action against the Iranian threat.

I confirm Israel's request to convene a meeting of the Security Council immediately to unequivocally condemn Iran for these grave violations and immediately act to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

I should be grateful if you would distribute this letter and its annex as a document of the Security Council.

I would like to inform you that an identical letter has been sent to H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary- General of the United Nations.

More than 100 Iranian-Canadians sent a letter to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Tuesday calling for an investigation of the party's handling of allegations of Iranian regime interference in an Ontario riding nomination race. Those who signed the letter include academics, physicians and people who lost loved ones on Flight PS752 when it was shot down by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in 2020. Kaveh Shahrooz, an outspoken critic of Iran's regime, announced on social media last month that he was withdrawing from the Conservative nomination contest in the federal riding of Richmond Hill. He said he faced "unprecedented" foreign interference and intimidation during his campaign.
