Breaking News : CPL 2023 Preview and Teams For this Season
 Jamaica Tallawahs
Where they finished: Champions (2022), 5th place (2021), Losing semifinalist (2020)
Overseas signings: Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Chris Green, Salman Irshad, Alex Hales
After seasons of middling returns on the field following plenty of turmoil off field that led to the eventual exit of their stalwart Andre Russell, the Tallawahs stunned everyone in 2022 winning three Play Off matches in a span of four days to lift their third CPL title. Tallawahs have kept most of their winning core from last year bar their talismanic skipper Rovman Powell who moved to Barbados Royals in a pre-season transfer. The architects of their Play Off wins from last year, Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks, both have not been in the best of form as is their overseas signing Alex Hales who will arrive only after completing his Hundred commitments. Imad Wasim has been in red hot form in T20s this year and will be the key in holding together the top and lower order while his erstwhile countryman Mohammad Amir will spearhead the pace attack. Tallawahs would also need Nicholson Gordon, who finished at the top of wicket charts in Super 50 competition, to step up in what is an otherwise inexperienced pace unit.
Likely starting XI: Brandon King, Kirk McKenzie, Raymon Reifer, Shamarh Brooks, Amir Jangoo (WK), Imad Wasim*, Fabian Allen, Chris Green*, Mohammad Amir*, Salman Irshad*, Nicholson Gordon
Barbados Royals
Where they finished: Runners up (2022), 6th place (2021), 5th place (2020)
Overseas signings: Donovan Ferreira, Laurie Evans, Roelof Van Der Merwe, Maheesh Theekshana/Qais Ahmad
The standout team in CPL 2022 and the only team to win more than half of their league games, Royals can count themselves unlucky to have one of their poorer days of the tournament happen in the finals. The strategy to move away from all-round heavy sides of 2020 and 2021 campaigns and bring in specialists proved particularly fruitful as all their overseas signings chipped in with their respective assigned roles. Rovman Powell's arrival bolsters their local talent pool while the likes of Laurie Evans and Donovan Ferreira fill in for Quinton de Kock and David Miller. Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall can set them off to rapid starts in the Powerplay and Alick Athanaze is expected to light up the tournament in what will be his maiden CPL stint. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman has a like-to-like swap in Maheesh Theekshana who stands to miss bulk of the tournament owing to commitments in LPL and Asia Cup with Qais Ahmad named as his partial replacement.
Likely starting XI: Kyle Mayers, Rahkeem Cornwall, Alick Athanaze, Kevin Wickham, Rovman Powell, Donovan Ferreira (WK)*, Jason Holder, Roelof Van Der Merwe*, Maheesh Theekshana/Qais Ahmad*, Obed Mccoy, Ramon Simmonds
St Lucia Kings
Where they finished: 4th place (2022), Runners up (2021), Runners up (2020)
Overseas signings: Faf du Plessis, Sikandar Raza, Peter Hatzoglou, Sean Williams, Chris Sole/Bhanuka Rajapaksa
St Lucia Kings turned around their fortunes in the Covid era making it to Play Off in three successive seasons, having done so just once in the first seven years. Ending up as runners up in 2020 and 2021, the Kings finished fourth place last year under Faf du Plessis. Notwithstanding his poor run in Major League Cricket, Du Plessis has been in fine form in the T20 circuit and his pairing with Johnson Charles makes them the best opening pair in the competition. The Zimbabwe duo of Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza will bring both form and experience to the middle order that is lacking big-ticket local names. Alzarri Joseph and Chris Sole, at least up until the latter makes way for Bhanuka Rajapaksa, give the side a considerable edge with the new ball. Matthew Forde have impressed in LPL 2022 as well as the recently concluded Global T20 in Canada finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker and Kings would want him to extend that form in his sophomore year in CPL.
Likely starting XI: Faf Du Plessis*, Johnson Charles (WK), Sean Williams*, Roston Chase, Sikandar Raza*, Roshon Primus, Shadrack Descartes, Alzarri Joseph, Chris Sole*, Jeavor Royal, Matthew Forde
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Where they finished: 3rd place (2022), Losing semifinalist (2021), Losing semifinalist (2020)
Overseas signings: Rahmanullah Gurbaz/Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, Azam Khan, Imran Tahir, Dwaine Pretorius, Hazratullah Zazai
Always the bridesmaid but never the bride. The only side that has made it to the Play-Offs/semifinals every year but is yet to lift the silverware, Guyana will be hoping they clear the final hurdle this time around. They have stuck to their strategy of packing their squad with spinners and sub-continent batters who are good players of spin. Imran Tahir, the highest wicket-taker across the last three installments of CPL, will helm the spin attack with Gudakesh Motie, Kevin and Junior Sinclair in the supporting cast while the all-around trio of Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul and Odean Smith in charge of seam department in addition to adding to the lower middle order muscle. In Azam Khan and Saim Ayub Guyana have two fine players of spin in the middle order. Warriors have the advantage of playing the knockouts at their home ground in Providence and would ideally want it to stay true to its colours and bring their spinners into play, something which did not happen last season and cost them dearly.
Likely starting XI: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK)*, Saim Ayub*, Shai Hope, Azam Khan (WK)*, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, Odean Smith, Kevin Sinclair, Gudakesh Motie, Imran Tahir*
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots
Where they finished: 5th place (2022), Champions (2021), 6th place (2020)
Overseas signings: Dewald Brevis/Blessing Muzarabani, Ambati Rayudu, Corbin Bosch, George Linde, Izharulhaq Naveed
If ever there was a side that had players looking for a platform to push their case for the national team, it would be the Patriots. Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas have all played for West Indies in the recent past but currently find themselves out of favour. Dominic Drakes and Yannic Cariah are also in the fringes of white ball squads but are far from being certain picks for West Indies. The big name missing from their squad last season is skipper Dwayne Bravo who has moved back to home side Trinbago after two seasons with the Patriots. If the loss of Tristan Stubbs dented their middle order a touch, the possible loss of Dewald Brevis later, who got his maiden International call up in the home series against Australia, would serve as a near-killer blow. The bowling attack has variety but lacks class, the spin department in particular is amongst the weaker ones in the competition.
Likely starting XI: Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher (WK), Dewald Brevis*, Sherfane Rutherford, Ambati Rayudu*, Corbin Bosch*, Dominic Drakes, George Linde*, Yannic Cariah, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas
Trinbago Knight Riders
Where they finished: 6th place (2022), Losing semifinalist (2021), Champions (2020)
Overseas signings: Martin Guptill, Rilee Rossouw, Matheesha Pathirana, Noor Ahmad, Waqar Salamkheil
Ahead of the last edition, a few other sides matched the might of Knight Riders on paper. And yet they startlingly went on to finish the wooden spoon holders. Trinbago gets even stronger with the homecoming of their most successful captain Dwayne Bravo after a two-year exile with Patriots and in the quartet of Pollard, Bravo, Narine, and Russell, the Knight Riders have the experience of over 2100 T20 caps. The recent batting form of Pooran, Pollard, and Russell augurs well for them making Knight Riders the most explosive middle order lineup in the tournament. Top order batting has been a nagging issue for Knight Riders in the last couple of seasons as they hope for someone to fill in the shoes of Lendl Simmons. The trio of Narine, Hosein and Noor Ahmad gives them the mantle of the best spin bowling attack ever to be assembled in a CPL squad while Pathirana's addition gives the pace attack a dimension that CPL have often lacked in recent years - that of raw pace.
Likely starting XI: Martin Guptill*, Mark Deyal, Rilee Rossouw*, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Akeal Hosein, Sunil Narine, Matheesha Pathirana*, Jayden Seales

What Franchises might go for in PSL 6 Draft?
Tumblr media
Pakistan Super League’s 6th edition is all set to take place from 20th February, 2021 with final to be played on 22nd March, 2021 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The tournament would require a strong team composition for reaching grand finale and as a part of making teams, all the 6 Franchises had given their retentions list to Pakistan Cricket Board. All the retentions were announced by PCB’s twitter handle today which is just a day before the actual draft takes place. The draft for making up full teams for PSL 6 is scheduled on 10th January, 2021 in Lahore which will help in shaping up the teams for the flagship event of PCB.
Keeping a look at the retentions, it looks like all the teams have opted for those players which they feel can help them in creating a winning combination. Every team had an option of retaining a maximum of 8 players. All the teams retained 8 players except Peshawar Zalmi, who retained only 5 players. Majority of the retained players are local players, whereas, out of 45 retained players only 10 are international players. An evenly balanced set of players has been retained which includes openers, middle order batsmen, fast bowlers, spinners and all-rounders. Let us have a look on each and every team individually which will help in identifying the possible picks for 2021.
Islamabad United
Tumblr media
One of the most successful teams is Islamabad with 2 PSL titles to their name and they have retained 2 opening batsmen in which one has been traded with Karachi Kings. Other retentions include 3 all-rounders and 1 each middle-order batsman, fast bowler and spinner. Retained players include Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Asif Ali, Musa Khan, Zafar Gohar, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat. Some of the major releases included Dale Steyn, Rumman Raees, Amad Butt, Phil Salt and Dawid Malan. But from the retentions, it seems that Islamabad’s management has gone for retaining performers and impact players only. With probably, the most balanced retentions, it seems like Islamabad will be eyeing on picking few batsmen of one whom can keep wickets as well along with strengthening their fast bowling unit. Another factor needs to keep in mind is that majority of England, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Australian players might not be available as they will be on their national duties.
Karachi Kings
Tumblr media
Defending champions have gone on to retain 8 players in which majority of local performing players are included. Retentions include the likes of Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Aamir Yamin, Waqas Maqsood, Arshad Iqbal and Colin Ingram. Karachi has opted for a majority of local players which seems that they will be relying more on local talent because international cricketing commitments for foreign players will make it tough. Looking at the retentions of KK, it seems they will be eyeing to select some all-rounders stuff including a wicket-keeping option. Karachi has gone for retaining majority of those players which will gurantee them good bowling stuff. Therefore, they will look out to pick middle-order batsmen including the likes of some hard hitting batsmen with spin bowling options. Some of the major miss-outs from Karachi’s retentions are Mohammad Rizwan, Chadwick Walton, Iftikhar Ahmed, Umer Khan, Cameron Delport, Umaid Asif and Chris Jordan.
Lahore Qalandars
Tumblr media
Finally, Lahore was able to turn the tables for themselves by finishing 3rd on the points table for the first time and peaked just at the right time of the tournament. Lahore was so close to winning the title but ended as runners up. The retentions list of Lahore included Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhter, David Wiese, Dilbar Hussain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Ben Dunk. All of these retentions were major performers in 2020 with each giving his performance at crucial stages of the tournament. However, Lahore didn’t retain one of their critical success factor, Samit Patel. It was earlier announced that Fakhar Zaman would not be retained but retentions list showed that Lahore has opted for retaining him. Key miss-outs were Usman Shinwar, Samit Patel and Chris Lynn. Lahore will be looking to pick some middle-order batsmen and spin options.
Multan Sultans
Tumblr media
Multan had their best PSL last year but was unfortunately not able to win the trophy. The retention list of Multan included Shan Masood, James Vince, Rilee Rossouw, Sohail Tanvir, Shahid Afridi, Imran Tahir and Usman Qadir. Multan has also retained those players which makes the core of their team including middle order and top order batting along with one reliable T20 bowler in Sohail Tanvir and 3 leg spinners. From the team outlook, it seems that Usman Qadir, this time might get a longer run with Afridi and Imran Tahir at the eve of their playing careers. Key players that were not retained by Sultans included Moeen Ali, Zeeshan Ashraf, Ravi Bopara, Junaid Khan, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Ilyas and Rohail Nazir. Looking at the retentions, it seems like Multan will be looking to pick likes of fast bowlers and middle order batsmen as it self-sufficient in the spin department. However, like majority of teams, Multan will also be searching for a wicket keeping option in the drafts.
Peshawar Zalmi
Tumblr media
One of few teams who are eyeing a complete overhaul is Peshawar Zalmi. They have retained only 5 players as there was an option of retaining 8 but quite a selective list is being selected by them. Keeping in mind their turn in the draft, they seem to select diverse group of players as they have retained only 1 fast bowler, Wahab Riaz; 3 batsmen, Kamran Akmal, Liam Livingstone, Haider Ali and 1 all-round option in Shoaib Malik. It seems that majority of batting talent has been retained but some lower order batting options and complete bowling unit shall be picked in the draft. Peshawar had not performed that well in the last season and may be they want to completely overhaul their team composition as they have even gone on to release Hasan Ali, who had performed brilliantly with bat and ball in the domestic 4-day tournament. Some major outliers from Zalmi were Hammad Azam, Umar Amin, Tom Banton, Liam Dawson, Carlos Brathwaite, Imam ul Haq, Yasir Shah and Rahat Ali.
Quetta Gladiators
Tumblr media
With most number of matches won in first four seasons of PSL, Quetta was named among top contenders as PSL returned home last year. However, Gladiators performed quite badly as they were 6th on the points table this year. Their combinations didn’t seem right and as a result of that, they have probably released all of their batting options. Retained players include Sarfraz Ahmed, Azam Khan, Ben Cutting, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Hasnain, Anwar Ali, Naseem Shah and Zahid Mahmood. With decent performances in the domestic tournaments, Zahid Mahmood, unexpectedly has been retained. Some major players who were unable to see their names in the retention list of Quetta were Ahmed Shehzad, Ahsan Ali, Jason Roy, Fawad Ahmed, Tymal Mills, Sohail Khan and Khurram Manzoor. Keeping in mind the retentions list, core of the bowling unit has been retained, whereas, batting department’s overhaul will be done by picking appropriate players from the draft.
Let us all see that how teams shape up after the PSL draft on 10th January, 2021.

England VS Pakistan 1st T20 Preview.
As we all know the live cricketing action is back after 5-6 months due to COVID-19 starting with england hosting three matches test series with west indies followed by pakistan ,in which they also have three T20Is. England was brilliant in test match series against pakistan ,but pakistan also dominated in few sessions .
PAST RECORDS:-
Both the teams were involved in 15 matches in which england have won 10 and pakistan  have manage to win only 5 out of them.
While England have a fresh party, with none of the players involved in the Test matches selected for this series, Pakistan have included five players who were wearing the whites and facing a red-ball just a few days ago. The tourists have already been in the UK for eight and a half weeks and perhaps the biggest challenge for captain Babar Azam is to keep the team motivated during the final week of the tour. After all, as West Indies' captain Jason Holder admitted earlier this summer, life in the bio-secure bubble can begin to weigh you down after a while. In fairness, Azhar Ali's Test side showed up well in that regard, battling to draw the final Test with a little help from the weather, which suggests there is no longing for home just yet. There are also a host of fresh faces in Pakistan's T20 squad who should be raring to go after doing nothing but training for two months. Their number includes the experienced quintet of Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir. How many of them will play in any given match remains to be seen, but Pakistan's squad is certainly more experienced than their English counterparts. England, the second ranked T20I team in the world, are missing a host of first choice players, including Jason Roy who has been ruled out of the series with a side strain. The batting line-up, in particular, is unproven in T20I cricket with Tom Banton, Joe Denly and Sam Billings likely to occupy three of the top six positions in the absence of Roy, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. With the return to fitness of Chris Jordan, one of the leaders of England's T20 attack, the bowling line-up has more depth and should be able to cope well enough with the absence of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. Eoin Morgan's men beat both New Zealand and South Africa in T20I series during the winter. Although the 2-1 victory over the Proteas was achieved with a more or less full-strength team, the squad which triumphed 3-2 over New Zealand was an experimental one which proved the depth England currently have in their limited overs squad. Those twin series victories continued the good run of form England have showed in this format. Since the start of the 2018 home season, they have won 12 of their 17 T20Is, a run which included a seven wicket victory over Pakistan in a one-off match last summer. The tourists, who were not so long ago ranked the best international T20 team, have not had such a good time of things away from home. Their last overseas series victory came against Scotland in mid-2018 and they were heavily beaten in Australia towards the end of last year, losing by seven wickets and ten wickets in the two completed matches. By contrast, their record at home is excellent. Since the beginning of 2017, Pakistan have won 18 of 23 T20Is, including two comfortable victories against Bangladesh in Lahore in January. The third game of that series was abandoned because of COVID-19. When:Friday August 28, 2020. 18:00 Local Time, 10:30 PM IST Where: Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester What to expect: There has been a lot of rain in Manchester in the three days before this game which means the pitch will no doubt contain some moisture which the fast-bowlers on either side might be able to exploit. Generally, though, the Old Trafford pitch is one of the quickest and truest in the country which is perfect for T20 cricket. The forecast, as ever in Manchester, is mixed with showers forecast throughout Friday. Hopefully there will be enough dry spells to get the game in. Team News England Without the injured Jason Roy, Tom Banton will probably get a chance to impress at the top of the order after batting in the unfamiliar positions of four and five during the ODI series against Ireland. Joe Denly, who missed that series, could return to international action for the first time since being dropped from the Test team while David Willey, Chris Jordan and Tom Curran will likely get the first chance to impress in the fast-bowling department. Possible XI: Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Sam Billings, Joe Denly, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid Pakistan The tourists have a 17-man squad for this series which gives them plenty of options. Mohammad Rizwan's excellent Test series may prompt Pakistan to select him as the wicket-keeper over former captain Sarfraz Ahmed while Babar Azam spoke highly of Shadab Khan's credentials in the pre-match press conference. As such, Khan looks likely to form a twin spin attack with Imad Wasim. Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir should add plenty of experience and class to the fast-bowling department. Possible XI: Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Shah Afridi

"A Day To Remember" Says Pakistan Batsman Fakhar Zaman
By Brandan White
Pakistan opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has said that the 2017 Champions Trophy final win over India is still fresh in his mind and will remain a day that will be remembered for a long time.
He celebrated his fabulous hundred against archrival India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.
On Friday the Pakistani left hander marked the completion of four years since Pakistan routed India at The Oval in London.
Fakhar Zaman was the hero of Pakistan’s incredible triumph, scoring 114 off 106 balls.
Taking to his official Twitter account on Friday, Fakhar Zaman celebrated the occasion and wrote “A day to remember for ages, a day to cherish, a day to feel proud, still didn't get over it, neither of us, and never will I believe."
Fakhar Zaman had a lucky reprieve in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, as he was caught behind off a Jasprit Bumrah no-ball in the fourth over of the innings. He went on to make Bumrah and India pay, smashing 12 fours and three sixes in a fabulous knock.
Azhar Ali (59), Babar Azam (46), Mohammad Hafeez (57 not out) and Imad Wasim (25 not out) all chipped in as Pakistan posted a mammoth 338 for 4, batting first in that game.
Most Indian bowlers returned with expensive figures. Bumrah went wicketless and conceded 68 runs in his nine overs. Ravichandran Ashwin went for 70 in his ten, while Ravindra Jadeja conceded 67 in eight.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/44) was the most economical of the Indian bowlers on the day.
India crumbled under pressure despite having batting firepower to chase down the target.
But they failed to get going and fell well short. Rohit Sharma (0), captain Virat Kohli (5) and Shikhar Dhawan (21) all fell to the guile of Mohammad Amir (3/16) as India collapsed to 33 for 3.
The wickets kept falling thereafter, as Yuvraj Singh (22), MS Dhoni (4) and Kedar Jadhav (9) also failed to make an impact. Hard-hitting batsman Hardik Pandya gave India hope with his blistering stroke-play. However, his innings ended in unfortunate fashion, as he was run out for 76 off 43 balls after a terrible mix-up with Jadeja.
India, eventually, were cleaned up for 158 in 30.3 overs.
Apart from Amir, Hasan Ali (3/19) also stood out with his performance.
Team India went into the final as favourites, having thrashed Pakistan by 124 runs in the group match, but came out a cropper on the day that mattered the most.

Mohammad Rizwan named captain for first Test against New Zealand When Mohammad Rizwan steps out for the toss on Saturday, he will become the Pakistan Cricket Team’s 33rd Test captain. Photo: Geo tv/File Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have been ruled out from the first Test against New Zealand. 15-player Pakistan Shaheens squad for five T20s also confirmed Imran Butt in the 17-player squad named in the 17-player squad. Pakistan announces mammoth squad for the bio-secure tour of England
In wake of global pandemic, Pakistan Cricket Board has named a huge 29-member squad as they are scheduled for their 1st Bio-secure tour. International cricket returns with a different scenario under new playing rules announced by ICC and matches behind closed doors. Pakistan will be among the first teams to enter ground in such times of crisis. However, the debate on selection of team in limited and longer formats continues.
Tumblr media
Usually, at the end of test series, the players of test team come back with limited overs players reaching but this won’t be possible in the current scenario. The tour is planned in a way that firstly, team will reach in UK and spend 2 weeks in quarantine. Moreover, at the end of tour, after reaching Pakistan; all players will again have to quarantine themselves for 14 days in order to curb the spread of disease.
Tumblr media
There are no surprises as far as captaincies are concerned, Azhar Ali will be leading the test side while Babar Azam will be skipper in T20I matches. For the first time, Babar will also be the vice-captain of test team, whereas, his captaincy in ODI will still have to wait as there are no ODIs in the tour. Few of the refreshing additions in the squad are of Haider Ali, Khushdil Shah and Sarfraz Ahmed. While some questions still need to be asked on selection of Sohail Khan, Imran Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmad with the dropping of Usman Qadir, without a match.
Tumblr media
Haider and Khushdil performing well in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 are set for their careers to thrive in T20Is. Haider had performed brilliantly for Peshawar Zalmi with a strike rate of over 158. While, Khushdil already has debuted against Australia without any major impact but his clean hitting in PSL has kept him in the hunt. Lastly, among batsmen, Iftikhar has to prove his mettle in this tour otherwise it should be curtains for him in the tests. Sarfraz has finally returned to the international cricket with requirements of 2 wicket keepers in such a long and demanding tour. But one reckons, it will be very difficult for him to get a match.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pakistan is also carrying a battery of fast bowlers with themselves including the experienced likes of Wahab, Abbas, Imran Khan senior and Shaheen Afridi. The young pacemen are also made part of the squad including Haris Rauf, Shinwari, Naseem, and Husnain. Some of the surprising moves have been the inclusion of Faheem Ashraf and Sohail Khan. England’s condition might demand an extra medium pacer who can bat a little bit, hence, Faheem’s selection can be backed by that fact. However, Sohail Khan’s selection have raised eyebrows once again as he had a mediocre PSL and was able to acquire only 22 wickets in 9 first class matches in 2019.
The spinners are kept in line with the requirements of T20s and Tests as Yasir Shah, Imad Wasim and Shadab are a consistent part of team in last 5 years. Kashif Bhatti is the 4th and last spinner included in the squad who had a successful first class season few years back and since then is with the team but has been unable in reaching playing XI. For the first time, we see consistent set of openers for quite a while now in Pakistan’s test and limited overs format with Shan Masood, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq and Abid Ali. At last, this might be a chance for Fawad Alam to finally play his comeback test match but the conditions will be demanding in England. Nevertheless, this is now or never chance for him and he needs to grab it with both hands.
The veterans Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez are back in the team which further complicates the issue of central contract. Wahab, Amir, Hafeez and Malik, all void of central contract but were and in fact are in the consideration of limited overs squad with T20 world cup nearing is a self-questionable decision of selection committee and PCB’s management. Haris Sohail and Mohammad Amir have been 2 players that have excused from participating in this tour. PCB had given the option of backing out to all the players and by exercising their due right, they have backed from it. Amir has to be present with his wife for the birth of their second child while Haris has excused for his personal family reasons.
Tumblr media
Reserves are also being announced for the tour in case of fitness or covid-19 issues. The list of reserves is also a decent enough with Bilal Asif, Muhammad Nawaz and Musa Khan as already capped players. But Imran Butt, among the leading run scorers in domestic cricket has finally been rewarded by at least his name in the reserves list. On the look of it, squad looks pretty well with one or two questions. But let us see that what this tour brings for Pakistan and cricket’s return on international scene. Earlier to that, let’s hope that no player tests positive for covid-19 as tests of all the players are scheduled on 20th and 25th of June.
