Maud Pie is looking at La Roche-aux-Fees.
La Roche-aux-Fées is a Neolithic gallery grave, or dolmen located in the commune of Essé, in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany. Its name comes from a legend that claims that the stones were placed by fairies

Bretagne Region Coffee Mill
Tumblr media
The name "Brittany" derives from the Britons who, back in the dark ages, came south across the English Channel to seek refuge from the Anglo Saxon invaders who were pushing them out of a large part of the island of Great Britain.
In this historic past, other Britons fled  to the west and south west of their own island, to Wales and Cornwall; and so it is that today, Brittany shares a historic culture with the other Celtic regions of northwest Europe.
Today, the French administrative region of Brittany covers four "departments", the Côtes d'Armor (22) in the north, Finistère (29) in the far west, Morbihan (56) in the south, and Ille et Vilaine (35) in the east, bordering on Normandy and the Loire valley area. Another department used to belong to the historic province of Brittany, and this was the Loire Atlantique (44), the area round the city of Nantes which used once to be the Breton capital, but is today no longer in the region.
Bretagne's specialties include: fish, seafood, crepes, cider, Kouign-Amann (pastry).

Pointe de la Malouine, Dinard, Bretagne by Bob Radlinski Via Flickr: The building is Villa Les Roches Brunes, built between 1893 and 1896 for the Parisian designer Emile Poussineau. "In 1879, the Duke of Audiffret-Pasquier sold his hunting estate of Malouine. Auguste Poussineau bought it, moved to Dinard, and became a real estate developer. Apart from a small castle, destroyed in 1944 by Allied bombing, the site is pristine. It is divided into plots of 600 to 800 m² where huge villas with sea views are built." [Wikipedia]

The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission takes us over Finistère – a French department in the west of Brittany. Brittany is an important cultural region in the northwest of France. Previously a kingdom, then a duchy, Brittany was united with France in 1532. Today, Brittany is divided into four departments: Ille-et-Vilaine in the east, Morbihan in the south, Côtes d'Armor in the north and Finistère in the west. Brittany has over 1000 km of coastline – with a wide range of beaches and rocky, coastal scenery making it a popular holiday destination. Fields blanket the French countryside and dominate this image captured on 27 September 2018. Brittany is one of France’s leading vegetable growing regions known for its artichokes, cauliflowers, carrots and potatoes. In fact, France is one of the EU’s leading agricultural countries and is home to around a third of all agricultural land in the EU. The city of Brest can be seen in the left of the image, lying along the sheltered bay close to the western tip of the peninsula. With a population of around 150 000, Brest is the largest city in the Finistère department. The port town played an important role in French history as it was a key naval base during World War II. Just west of Brest lies Pointe de Corsen, otherwise known as the westernmost point of continental France. The name Finistère derives from the Latin ‘Finis Terræ’ – meaning ‘end of the earth’. Ushant, or Ouessant in French, and the Iroise Islands lie around 30 km from the coast of France and can be seen in the left of the image. The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission is designed to provide images that can be used to distinguish between different crop types as well as data on numerous plant indices, such as leaf area, leaf chlorophyll and leaf water – all essential to monitor plant growth accurately. contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2018), processed by ESA, CC BY-SA 3.0 IGO

👁️ 24 - Rennes 🌌 Nature/City 🇫🇷 Rennes is a city in the east of Brittany in northwestern France at the confluence of the Ille and the Vilaine. Rennes is the capital of the region of Brittany, as well as the Ille-et-Vilaine department.
Rennes's history goes back more than 2,000 years, at a time when it was a small Gallic village named Condate. Together with Vannes and Nantes, it was one of the major cities of the ancient Duchy of Brittany. From the early sixteenth century until the French Revolution, Rennes was a parliamentary, administrative and garrison city of the historic province of Brittany of the Kingdom of France.

Project Berkeley-Oxford, Cesson Sévigné Building News
Cesson Sevigne_berkeley – Oxford _office Complex
Located in the ZAC VIA SILVA of Cesson-Sévigné in the immediate vicinity of the new metro line from Rennes Metropole, The new project consists of four office buildings situated along the new road which restructures the circulation of the area.
The project is divided into four distinct buildings whose choice of location was made with a view to maximising privacy. The buildings are designed with a system of terraced volumes which break-up the south facing facades while offering visual access to the terraces on the uppermost levels. The project is divided into 4 distinct volumes with a central core that unifies the whole. There are three levels of underground parking to meet the required number of spaces (474) for the program.
The office floors are spacious, well lit and modular offering a wide range of organisational possibilities. The circulation spaces are generous and open onto dedicated areas for exchanges and meetings. The positioning of the relaxation areas at the interface between the them and work areas offers pleasant and relaxing views of the landscape and the terraces.
Each building is designed to have its own impact on the site with a volumetric language that seeks a global unity across the ensemble as a whole. With varying heights, volumes and orientations each adapted to their position, the terrain and the natural light. And it is this play of light on the façades which gives the buildings through shadow and reflection an architectural lightness and at the same time a solid presence.
These elements will be amplified by the night lighting which inverts the role of shadow and transparency giving a depth to read relative to the composition of each building. Their façades are organised with an alternate arrangement of solid aluminium panels and window panels creating a subtle kinetic effect. A certain sparkle.
This architecture is the very image of the activity it is designed for, powerful, rigorous and resolutely turned towards the future. The building as a place for work and play opens onto and looks towards the city. Its technical, environmental and social aspects will make the Campus a centre of communication and a tool for sustainable development in the noblest and most ambitious sense.
