In Need of Orders (M)
Tumblr media
Pairings: Seokjin x Reader Word Count: 15K Rating: M Genre: Kingsman AU, action, drama, romance, smut, comedy, rivals to lovers  Warnings: violence, swearing, public foreplay, slight dom/sub dynamics which interchange (Seokjin is a bratty switch), discussion of safeword, light bondage, masturbation, voyeurism, oral sex (fem receiving), unprotected sex, small amount of cum eating, sexism in the workplace, referenced death of minor character, Seokjin and reader are bad at feelings.
Summary: After a disastrous mission, which lead to the destruction of your prized invention and the compromise of his cover, Seokjin is confined to your base, and placed under your command. Now that he’s stuck with little to do, he uses his time to investigate a past you simply want to forget.
A/N: AU based off the Kingsman Series, originally written by Mark Miller. There’s a mix of tech origins, the com-glasses, and poison-pen, were from the movie and the rest of the inventions are my own creation. Members will occasionally be referred to by their titles but I try and use their actual name as much as possible, here’s a list of members/characters and their corresponding titles: Reader - Merlin | Seokjin - Galahad |  Yoongi - Percival | Hoseok - Lancelot | Namjoon - (current) Arthur |
....
“No, no, no. NO! Seokjin, what did you do to my beautiful baby?!” You circle around what was once your wondrous invention. Your masterpiece of a vehicle that had taken years to get just right. When Yoongi dropped in a couple hours ago and told you to expect an unpleasant delivery you never could have imagined this. Unpleasant doesn’t begin to cover the damage done, this is an act of desecration.
“Merlin, titles please! Without manners we are nothing,” Seokjin chides you, paraphrasing the principal motto as if it will save him from your wrath. You’ve reached your limit with him; there's no benefit you can see in maintaining pleasantries.
“You will get my manners when you deserve them,” you growl back. “Now why did you sink my prized creation?”
“The cloaking device was faulty.” He shrugs off the loss like it’s nothing, no harm to him and therefore no foul.
“I find that hard to believe.” You’ve run this car through every test, checked every parameter, you would never have let it leave this workshop if it posed a danger to exposing agents.
“It was! I was conducting surveillance on a target when they became aware of my presence. They retaliated, so I needed a quick escape. I was on the overpass near the river, I knew there was a small oxygen tank in the glove compartment for emergencies-”
“So driving it off a bridge seemed like the best option?” You never thought you’d regret seeing the day you installed that safety feature, one that you intended for use in case of a gas or chemical assault, but here it is. “Tell me,” You look from your precious machine back to the monster who destroyed it, “What exactly were you doing when you noticed the glitch?”
“Just driving, maybe going around eighty. Does it really matter?” He sighs. “They saw me coming so I had to take cover or they would have shot me.”
“Oh no, it works perfectly fine.” Your voice starts to echo through the workshop as your fury bubbles over. “When the user reads the manual and understands that cloaking only works when in a stationary position. I am a scientist not an actual fucking magician Seokjin! Of course you can’t travel when cloaked. If you had at least skimmed the booklet I gave you, you would have understood that!”
The technology you created doesn’t make the car invisible, instead it projects the images behind it to make it appear that way. It can only account for and cover small changes in movement, not whole vehicles travelling. Only an idiot would think that it could compensate for such drastic shifts to the backdrop. And for some reason that moron dares to continue arguing with you.
“Booklet? That thing was a thousand pages long! You actually expected me to read that?” He counters his voice rising to combat yours.
“Oh, I’m sorry would you like me to make an audio-book for you next time? Or better yet I could make a grade school reader complete with pictures. Maybe that’ll hold your attention!”
There’s a sudden shift in his expression, with a thick smile forming on his face. “I suppose I wouldn't say no to a recording if it was read by you.” His words ooze with flirtatious mire, intent on sucking you in.
Seokjin’s smirks and one liners have gotten him out of trouble many times with other agents. It’s not hard to see why, the man could be considered the most attractive of all your acquaintances,  but you refuse to let this drop simply because he’s batting his eyes in your direction. You grit your teeth and continue to chew him out. “Lancelot and Percival read it, I don’t see why I can’t hold you to the same standard.”
“Fine, fine I’ll look it over.” He huffs in surrender, but even in defeat he still carries a playfulness in his tone. “When do you think you can get it back up and running again?”
“If you think I’m going to take time out of my schedule to fix this, only for you to go destroy it again, you have some nerve.” You can barely even register the destruction let alone process how much time it’ll take to repair everything. With the dents in the body work, the flooded engine, and the electrics most certainly fried, you're looking at weeks of work just to make it drivable again. But bringing it back to its full potential? That will require months of tinkering.
“What could you possibly have to do that’s more important than this.” Seokjin is clearly trying to hold back a snicker, but when a small snort escapes him, all remaining control of your temper vanishes.
“Seokjin, so help me god if you don’t leave my line of sight in three seconds, I’ll do those men a favour and shoot you myself.”
He chuckles at your threat, “You’re not-”
“One.” You reach for your holster and take hold of your gun.
“Serious.” The laughter in his face starts to fade.
“Two.” You disengage the safety and take aim.
“You won’t actually shoot me.”
“Th-”
“At ease Merlin.” Yoongi interjects, entering the room with his face buried in a file. His indifference is a true sign of how well he knows you. You were only going to relieve Seokjin of a few strands of hair, but maybe it’s better this way. The sound of gunfire would surely result in a slight loss of hearing, and Seokjin already has trouble listening. You sigh, lowering your pistol.
“I can only guess you’ve both been discussing the...” Yoongi comments looking down at the remains of the car. “Accident.”
“More like negligence,” You mutter, flicking a bit of mud off what was once a perfect paint job.
“Listen, I tried Percival,” Seokjin appeals to Yoongi. “We’ve been looking for this guy for months. I had him in my grasp,  I couldn’t risk losing him.”
“I know Galahad,” Yoongi rubs his brow as his gaze returns to the document in front of him “but there’s concern that you’ve been compromised, after reading your report there are worries that you might be identified and expose the operation. You’re on lock down for the remainder of the mission.”
“No! I’m so close to bringing him in. Just let me assist,” Seokjin pleads. You would probably feel bad for him if he hadn’t just gone and destroyed your life's work.
“The rest of the order doesn’t seem to agree. In fact they’ve called your work on this case,” Yoongi flips to another page of the file, “Reckless, irresponsible, and fails to even remotely represent their request for a covert operation...” He turns the file around to push it in Seokjin’s face. “And they’ve written those last two words in all caps, see?”
You chuckle quietly, covering it with a cough but Yoongi doesn’t look convinced. His gaze shifts to you as he hands down the rest of the directive. “Due to these recent events, Galahad is to remain here for the duration of the operation. Under your orders.”
“Wait, what?! Why are they punishing me too?”
“It’s not meant to be a punishment Merlin.”
“The fuck it isn’t. Why can’t Lancelot look after him? It was his idea to allow him on the mission.” You admire Hoseok greatly, but in your opinion it was a bad decision to add Seokjin to the roster for this operation.
“If Lancelot or I are seen with him then our cover will be blown too.” Yoongi reasons, “You’re the only one who operates completely behind the scenes.”
“But why do I have to be put under command of another agent?” Seokjin interjects.
“Because, you are clearly in need of orders until you can get your rash instincts under control. Just be grateful it’s not a complete dismissal.” Yoongi starts to step away with the matter settled.
There goes your peace and quiet. Unless... you call out to Yoongi with one last shred of hope. “Permission to put him under a gag order for every possible topic of conversation?”
“Denied, but nice try Merlin.” Yoongi smirks as he enters the elevator which will bring him back above ground.
Yep, you’re truly going to be living your own personal hell in such tight quarters. A small work den and communications relay located beneath a PC bang in the heart of Seoul. The base was never intended to host more than one for a long term stay. It’s purpose is for agents to stock up, gather their orders sent from headquarters, and then leave. The only person who actually stays on site is you. “Well then, the bedroom’s mine but you can take the sofa. Don’t touch what’s mine without my consent and we shouldn’t have a problem. Is that clear?” You lay down the rules quickly not wanting to prolong any further conversation with your new resident.
“Yes Ma’am.” Seokjin answers looking truly defeated for once.
“If you’ll excuse me I have work to do.”You brush past him towards your computer, needing to assess what components you’ll need to order first for repairs.
“Wait, what am I supposed to do?”
“You’re a big boy, I’m sure you can figure something out.” You respond keeping your eyes focused on the screen.
“Could you show me how to fix it?” His unusually quiet request manages to break your concentration.
“Fix what, the car?” You glance back at him with narrowed eyes, trying to figure out his angle. “Why would I do that?”
“Well for starters I probably can’t fuck it up any more than it is.” He laughs but your lack of reaction kills his joke rather quickly. “It would cut down your workload. Give me a better appreciation for what you do. You would get to order me around. And who knows, you might even enjoy my company.”
He’s right, you could use the extra pair of hands, and he might learn something. “Fine, you can start by reading this.” You fling the tome of a manual at his chest, causing him to grunt from the impact. “Report to me when you're done.”
...
“How can you even call that a couch? I’ve seen footrests bigger than that disappointment.” Seokjin comments as he enters the workshop. You slide out from under your car to find his hands tending to the muscles at the back of his neck, and heavy bags resting under his eyes. It's the first time you’ve seen him exist at a fraction less than perfection in his appearance, a gratifying perk in this unfavourable situation.
“It’s all that would fit.” You grab a towel laying on the floor next to you cleaning the dark grease of the car off your skin. Usually you wouldn’t bother wiping it off just yet, but having Seokjin in your presence has made you oddly self-conscious. “You might have noticed space is limited here.”
“Then who’s idiotic idea was is to make a base in this shoe box of a hole?” He grills you, probably intending to roast the architect of such a small site.
“Mine actually. After the data breach a year and a half ago we needed something more secure. There’s so much information streaming to and from this location that it makes it difficult for anyone to find our dealings. It’s the perfect spot.”
“Perfect if you’re a mouse.” Seokjin takes a seat in your straight-backed desk chair. Groaning as his fingers continue to knead, moving down to his wide shoulders.
“Are you implying I’m some kind of rodent?” You glare up at him, ready to defend yourself against the slight.
“You should take it as a complement, mice are cute.” He gives you one of his famed smiles, the type where you can’t tell if he’s sincere or mocking.
“Why are you down here Seokjin?” You ask preparing to wheel back down beneath the undercarriage of your car. “I can’t imagine you’ve finished reading the manual already.”
“I did actually. This is me reporting for duty.” He throws the book down on to the floor next to you, marked and dog-eared. “Not a whole lot else I can do while on lock down.”
“Is someone upset that Lancelot and Percival get to have all the fun? Maybe it’ll teach you to obey orders better, rather than getting stuck here with me.”
“I can follow them just fine... when they don’t conflict with the completion of my mission.”
“Not getting spotted was part of your mission Seokjin.” Your response is dry as you state the obvious.
“Yes, but so is recovering the data from that breach, before he can unload it on someone else.”
“You don’t know that he has it. That’s why you had to observe him.”
“Listen to me, Hwang’s a fence, one whose been trying his best to stay off our grid, of course he has it. Once we find him we can track everything back to his source.” Seokjin’s confidence is admirable. You can’t deny that you would like to catch the one responsible for unleashing one hell of a computer virus that caused you and many others weeks of havoc and restless nights. The worst part is you don’t even know what they were able to get a hold of, the sooner Yoongi and Hoseok can track this man down the better.
“You still should have exerted more caution, you're not the only one on this team Seokjin, people can get hurt if you're too brash.” You’re surprised to find Seokjin nodding with his head hung low. Since when does he ever agree with you on something?  “Now that you’re done with the manual, I do have work to assign that I doubt even you can mess up. Every single electrical circuit and wire needs to be removed, it’s unlikely that any have survived the flooding so it would be safer just to take them all out. I’m going to see if I can save the engine.”
Seokjin gives you a cheeky two finger salute before he sets to work behind the dash.
Thirty minutes later he’s already back at it with questions. “Do you have any speakers set up for music?”
“No, we could have used the car radio if you hadn’t submerged it, but here we are.” You usually work in silence anyway, but getting to deliver another stab of guilt is better than admitting your regular tendencies.
“Ah no problem, I can fix that.” At first you wonder if he intends to repair the radio, but when he proceeds to hum loudly, you realize that’s not the case. Instead he treats you to a selection of unrecognizable songs which you don’t bother to ask the title of.
You let it go for as long as you can, but thirty minutes later when you move from under the car to beneath the hood needing to drain the cylinders next, you finally raise the white flag in pursuit of silence. “Seokjin, please just stop okay?”
His chuckle taunts you, “That’s what you get for pulling a gun on me yesterday.”
“If you’re not careful I’ll do it again.” Your tone turns salty once you realize that is was his intent to torture your ears.
“Can’t believe you lasted that long, I thought for sure you were going to crack after five minutes of my melodies.”
“That’s what that was? I thought you jammed your thumb and were screaming out in pain the whole time.”
“Ha ha,” He retorts. You're almost upset when he goes quiet with nothing substantial to follow up your jab, but then he opens his mouth again. “How can you work when it’s so quiet?”
“Helps me focus when there’s no distractions.” You answer hoping that he’ll take the hint and remain silent.
“But doesn’t it get lonely?”
You slow your pace as you loosen the bolts on the gasket cover, choosing your words carefully as you make an attempt to side step that minefield of a query. “I work better when I’m by myself.”
“That wasn’t my question.” Seokjin catches on to your evasion proceeding to look around the hood of the car trying to meet your eyes.
“We all make sacrifices Seokjin. This is mine.”
“If you spoke to Arthur-”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” You try to cut him off quickly not wanting to get him involved in your circumstances, but he continues.
“I’m sure he would listen.”
“Drop the subject Seokjin, that’s an order.” You take a deep breath trying not to lose more of your composure again. “I chose to work in this place for several reasons. I don’t need to explain every one of them to you.”
Seokjin is surprisingly quiet for the rest of the day. It’s doubtful that you scared him off with your temper, he’s too confident for that. It’s more likely that he’s frustrated with you’re bickering. You hang back a bit more only giving direction when absolutely necessary. If you have to live with him you might as well attempt to make it bearable for the both of you.
That night you treat him to ramen from the business upstairs, they don’t usually do take-out but they make an exception for you. He sits across from you in a desk chair slurping his noodles while his eyes bore into you. “What, do I have something on my face?” You ask, starting to feel uncomfortable under his gaze.
Seokjin takes another slurp of his dish before he explains himself. “No, I’m just trying to figure you out.”
“Please don’t.” You plead, not wanting to broach the same subject from earlier.
“You’re passionate about your work. You’re good at what you do. Your superiors trust you.” You groan with exasperation, nevertheless he persists. “You're lonely here. The order could put you anywhere and you would most likely excel, and yet you bury yourself here, in this hovel.”
“It’s not a hovel...” You mutter, but you’ve run out of energy to argue and your appetite has now vanished. Rising from your seat you bid him good night. “I’m going to bed. Clean up this mess when you're done, and try not to throw your neck out cramming yourself onto my couch again.”
“Yes Ma’am.” He gives a muffled reply with noodles hanging from his mouth, and another fake salute.
You shake your head as you close your bedroom door behind you.
...
“You know,” Seokjin bursts into your room early the next morning, startling you awake. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen test scores as high as these. Are you sure you’re not a magician Merlin, because these results seem too good to be true. ”
You bolt upright in terror, “What are you looking at?”
“The start of your journey with the Kingsman.” He wanders around to sit at the foot of your bed as you drag the covers up to your chest. “I figured if there was an answer I would find it here, but I’ve never seen such an impressive resume. The last Arthur had you pegged from the beginning as the successor to your predecessor, he even recorded that his candidate didn’t stand a chance against you. You should be proud of this...” He leans to you reading the expressions on your face. “But you’re not. You’re scared. Why is that?”
“Stay out of my files Kim Seokjin.”
“Is that an order?” He asks his face still only a couple inches from yours when it pulls into smirk, looking pleased that he’s caught you off guard.
“Yes.”
“If I recall,” He closes the document in his hands, but his analysis continues, “You were moved here just shortly after Namjoon took over the position of Arthur. You were living the life before, testing and training new recruits, doling out orders and information. But then you fell into this pit. What did you do to piss him off?”
“Nothing, ju-just stop asking, okay? I don’t need your help, so stop trying to save me!” Your voice cracks as it reaches the point of yelling but he doesn’t back away. “Staying here alone, that was my choice. So don’t you dare try to take my one salvation away from me.”
“I’m not trying to take it away. I just want to understand it.” He answers his tone controlled and calm while holding your gaze firmly in his. When you look away he finally gets up leaving you with your files on your dresser.
...
A week passes and Seokjin continues to try and figure out why you chose to work in your closed off environment. Throwing out random and bizarre questions on what you might have done to Namjoon to get yourself stationed here.
“Did you expose his guilty pleasure for stuffed animals?” He asks as he helps you unbolt and remove seats, making room for the new chairs and bench which just arrived.
“Does he have a guilty pleasure for such a thing?”
“I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you.” Seokjin states with a snicker.
“No.”
“Did you lose his glasses?’’ Seokjin inquires next as he pulls the seat from the driver side all on his own. You can’t help but notice the muscles straining through the back of his shirt as he lifts the heavy chair from its place. When he turns back around for the next you berate your pitiful self-control. Yes he’s attractive, but he’s also the current thorn in your side. God must be a sadist for creating this enticing man, with such a sharp tongue and a plaguing desire to mock you.
“He does that just fine himself, he doesn’t need me to do it for him.” In fact, you have two pairs on backup for Namjoon at all times, just in case such a need should arise.
“Did you sneak into his house and switch the sugar to salt in his tea set?”
“That’s just cruel,” You chuckle at the idea, making a mental note to check your own sugar before your next cup of coffee. “But no I didn’t.”
“Well that’s it then, I’m out of ideas for today.” He heaves the passenger chair next to the other with an exhausted breath. A bead of sweat drips down his brow as he collapses on the new back bench waiting to be installed.
“Really? I’m surprised. You haven’t asked the obvious question.” You lay the statement as bait hoping he’ll take hold so you can reel him in. To your delight, he does.
“Oh and what’s that?” His eyes light up, with the chance that you might actually tell him something informative.
“Did I destroy his favourite vehicle? I mean, that’s why you’re stuck here isn’t it?” Seokjin glares at you in frustration, his gloom making you giggle. “But the answer to that too is no, I didn’t. I’m not a scoundrel.”
“Is that what I am to you now,” He presents a gleeful smile with a raised brow. “A scoundrel?”
“Why do you look so proud about that?” Your question is full of judgement, but his delight is not swayed.
“Because, scoundrels are sexy.” He tilts his head and bites his lip with a nod as if to make a point.
You let out an obnoxious laugh. “Maybe to some. I fail to see the appeal.”
“Then what do you consider sexy?”
“Someone who’s attentive, and dutiful. You know, an adult.” You attempt to describe the very traits he appears to lack to make your point. Though Seokjin’s looks might draw you in, you are in need of something more.
He rolls his eyes and scoffs, “Where’s the fun in that?”
“It’s not always about the fun, I just like someone who I can depend on.”
Seokjin’s about to respond, his mouth open with a solemn stare in his eyes when the elevator chimes. It’s doors open for you to find a haggard Hoseok with two black empty bags. You greet him with surprise, having completely lost track of time, he had mentioned that he would be stopping by to pick up supplies.
You hurry away to unlock and ready the stock. While Seokjin rushes in, barely even letting Hoseok off the lift, launching into an interrogation about the mission and any progress they’ve made. There’s only a few short words exchanged before the man left in your charge storms away slamming the door behind him as he exits the workshop to your common room.
“Lancelot?” You call out to Hoseok with hesitation, noticing that he’s still standing in place where Seokjin left him. Stepping in you help to take and load one of his duffles with surveillance equipment he requested. After Seokjin’s barrage he looks like he might rupture if you’re not careful.
“Please no formalities,” He sighs in exhaustion, while he too starts to pack up what he needs. “I would prefer not to be an agent right now, even if it’s just for five minutes.”
“That bad?” You wince for Hoseok’s sake, he’s usually so optimistic, it’s worrisome to see him so beaten down.
“We know Hwang’s back in Seoul, but any time we get a whiff of a more detailed location he vanishes. Yoongi and I have brought in more agents. We’re stationed in the south end of the city now, trying to keep an ear to the ground.” He zips up his case and then turns the conversation to you. “How are you holding up?”
“Fine I guess, but Seokjin’s been looking into my assignment here. He keeps trying to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong.” Hoseok is one of only a few who know why you chose such an assignment, and you would like to keep it that way.
“Maybe you should give it a smack then. Or better yet put him on a leash.” Hoseok finally breaks into a smile as he pats you on the back.
“He’s not a dog Hoseok.”
“Really?” Hoseok raises his eyebrows as if it’s news to him. “Cause he looks at you with those puppy eyes all the time. I’m surprised you don’t see it.”
“I don’t need someone who doesn’t listen to me Hoseok.”
“Okay yes, that accident with the car was a major misstep on his part...”
“And the constant prodding into my past?” You groan, you were hoping Hoseok would have your back immediately. Why does he have to take the role of impartial referee when you need his bias the most?
“He probably thinks you’ve been wronged, and that you deserve better. Is it not natural to what's best for those we care about?”
You tilt your head starting to question your fellow agent’s sanity. “I doubt that’s the case Hoseok, he just likes to be nosey.”
“Fine, have it your way, live in denial. I’m sure he’ll be out of your hair soon anyway. But if I were you I would try and explain the situation. He might not be living here but you’ll still have to work closely with him in the future.”
“You’re saying I should tell him?” You challenge his suggestion, he must be overworked since he’s definitely not thinking clearly.
“I know it won’t be easy, but if he knows what’s really bothering you, he might try to be more tolerable.” He lugs the cases off the table crossing the straps over his chest.
“Either that or he’ll use it as ammo to really gun me down.” You curl your lip at the thought pacing behind Hoseok as he moves towards the elevator to head back above ground.
Before the door closes between you he holds it open to give you the support you wanted along with a sigh. “I really don’t think that’ll be the case. But if he does... I’ll be your witness when you tell Arthur you shot him in self-defence.”
“Deal.”
...
You find Seokjin on the couch with a pile of files and a coffee on the small table, his brow furrowed and his mouth pulled tight as he scans through each one at a rapid pace.
“I take it you weren’t happy with his update?” You call out as you enter the room advancing towards him.
“No, I wasn’t. They had to pull in lower level field agents because I can’t be out there to help them. We probably would have caught Hwang by now if I was still working on the case.”
“Seokjin, I have every camera in the city looking for him, there’s not much else we can do from here. And your not going out there to track-”
“I know I’m not Merlin. I just want this to be over so I can get my shot at redemption.”
You nod looking down at the files in front of him.“What are those?”
He lets out a panicked laugh as he tries to scrounge them together. “Nothing, don’t worry about it.”
“Seokjin.” You draw out his name with intent to reprimand, leading him to respond with a nervous grin. He shifts his hands away giving you a better view of what he’s up to.
“Since you said I couldn’t look through your files I thought I would take a general overview of those you’ve trained or worked with.”
You shake your head, tired of this never ending battle between the two of you. “You’re not going to stop are you?”
“Nope.” He takes a sip from his mug as he looks back down to the information he’s gathered. You scan through the names and pull out the file that haunts you to this day. Dropping it in front of Seokjin before taking a seat in the armchair across from him. He reads the name off the tab. “James Paxton the third, he sounds like a pompous prick.”
“Oh I can confirm he was, and definitely one of the most hard-headed recruits I’ve ever tested, but we shouldn’t speak ill of the dead,” You mutter as Seokjin opens his file to find the word deceased stamped in bold red letters. He stares up at you with his mouth agape, you can see the wheels turning in his head, trying to figure out how this fits into your narrative.
“Why didn’t I hear about this?”
“It wasn’t really broadcasted through the regular channels, if you weren’t at the main headquarters you didn’t know about it. It happened just over a year ago.”
“I would have been in Lhasa...” Seokjin mutters.
You nod, not surprised that information flew under his radar. “I didn’t realize it at the time, but the last Arthur, he saw me as a bar for people to cross. He thought if recruits could take orders from a ‘bossy woman’ they could take orders from anyone. James Paxton didn’t pass that test, and he paid for it with his life.”
Thankfully for once, Seokjin doesn’t have a comment, instead he sits there, waiting for you to continue.
“Paxton thought me pushy, and overbearing, told me so to my face, several times in fact. I should have had him kicked out, but I was determined to prove him wrong. There was a mission to recover the stolen data a couple months after the breach. There was a lead, before we learned of Hwang.  We thought we had the location of where the data had been transferred to. I was supposed to go on the mission, but at the last minute Arthur told me to direct the team from off site.”
Your hands start to shake as the story continues. A mixture of both anger and fear coursing through you. You shift to hide them beneath you, gripping your legs to keep your fingers steady, but they fail to escape Seokjin’s notice.
His eyes are downcast in shame. “You don’t have to continue if you don’t want to Merlin. I’m-”
“You wanted to hear this Seokjin. I told you to leave it alone, I told you I didn’t want to talk about it.” You take a deep breath trying to rein in your anger, “Either you let me finish or never question me about my situation again.” He shuts his mouth instantly letting you continue. “It didn’t take me long to realize the lead was a trap once they got on site. I ordered a retreat, everyone else followed except for Paxton”
“It wasn’t your fault.” Seokjin interjects sitting on the edge of his seat.
“That doesn't mean I can’t be upset by it! Instead of trying to curb the discrimination the previous Arthur used it, and I didn’t even understand what he was doing until I lost someone. I found out that he enforced the idea among the recruits, that I was an overly authoritative woman, one who fails to take proper risks. Forget the fact that I am highly qualified, that I have more experience and knowledge of many of the situations than the other leaders, my lack of dick disqualified me from being taken seriously.” Seokjin falls silent again. He must realize that he too has failed to take you seriously in the past, then again, he’s that way with everyone else too.
“When Namjoon became the new Arthur shortly after, I was able to address my grievances. He was ashamed of his predecessor and wanted to do right by me, so I requested this place as a base. I wanted somewhere I could work on my own for the most part and not have to worry about people thinking me conceited or bossy. I needed a break from giving out orders.”
You finally finish to find Seokjin with a narrowed brow and clenched jaw. His tone matching the anger in his stance, “You’ve been here a year-”
“I know.”
“You’re telling me you’ve been punishing yourself for a year?” He’s question is poised with what looks to be genuine frustration, “Over two assholes who couldn’t understand how valuable you are?”
“It’s not a punishment, it’s a safety net.” You explain.
“It’s a cell!” He gestures around him. “You’re basically living in solitary.” You shift awkwardly not knowing what to say, and definitely not expecting this reaction. “Come on, we’re going out.” He orders, getting up from his seat and pulling you out of yours. “There’s a bar I know close by. I’m taking you out for a drink.”
“You think it wise for you to leave?” You question him, not knowing how else to diffuse the situation, not when your focus is drawn to his grip which wraps your shoulders.
“It’s only a couple blocks away. If we see anything suspicious I promise we’ll head straight back. It’s your call, but I think you could use a night out.” He pushes you in the direction of your bedroom. “Go change into something that doesn’t have oil stains all over it.”
You should probably put your foot down, there’s no saying what could happen. But seeing Seokjin act like this... maybe Hoseok was right, he actually cares. The problem is now that you can see this side of him you don’t want to lose hold of it just yet. “Fine, but if anything at all is amiss-”
“We’ll hightail it out of there, and barricade ourselves in here for the long haul.” He rattles off the promises. “Now go get ready.”
...
Seokjin maintains the persona of a caring companion as he drags you to his favourite bar in the city. “It’s quiet and the owner, Choi, is an old friend of Percival’s, he knows not to ask too many questions. There’s almost always at least one or two of us from the order or field agents hanging out there.”
He holds the door open for you to enter and you're greeted to the sight of a worn down ale house. A robust and stained wooden bar takes the focal point of the room, and there’s not a single other patron in sight. You can’t help but regret being forced to change out of your usual attire. You didn’t want to look out of place, but with no one here to take notice, your black dress it’s an unnecessary and uncomfortable gambit. Seokjin on the other hand looks very pleased to be back in his usual attire, a  three piece suit that’s been confined to the closet while he’s with you in the workshop.
“Like I said, it’s quiet.” He chuckles while he helps you take off your coat.
From out back steps the barman to greet you. He’s an unexpected yet welcome gem of a sight among the rubble, a handsome face with a wide smile which he presents to you. You might have to stop by here again just to take in this view, maybe study some of the tattoos he has scattered across his arms.
“Choi not in tonight?” Seokjin asks after seeing your reaction to the man behind the counter. He must not be the usual staff, it’s a shame really, but it’s funny to see Seokjin look so displeased. Realizing that for once he might not be the most attractive person in the room.
“Oh you know him?” Your host inquires with surprise, “No he wasn’t feeling too good, probably will end up spending the night by a toilet from the looks of him. I offered to take over tonight so he could get some rest.”
“That was nice of you.” You extend the man a warm smile.
“I like to think so.” He responds while beaming back at you. Seokjin hastily gives both your orders, allowing the bartender to leave you with a lingering stare as he walks back to grab your drinks. Maybe your efforts with the dress weren’t such a waste.
Seokjin glares at the man, mumbling a few choice words from which you manage to pull the word, ‘Flirt’.
“He was just being nice.”
“My god you can’t read people when it comes to the way they look at you. You’ve clearly caught his attention...” Seokjin drops unexpectedly.
“I can read people just fine.” You bite back in confidence.
“Really?” He challenges you, leaning forward with a whisper, “Then I suggest you look a bit closer.”
The bartender hammers Seokjin’s drink down in front of him while he slides yours along gently, giving you a chance to inspect a stunning work of art on his hand, a flock of birds flying in formation following the trail between his thumb and index. He catches your stare and while you might be embarrassed at your lingering eyes he teases the skin of his lip between his teeth. “I’ll let you get back to your date.” He gives you one last flash of a grin as he backs away into what must be a stock room.
“It’s not a... date.” You start to explain but it’s reduced to a sigh once the man leaves your sight.
Seokjin presses a napkin to your mouth prompting you to look back at him in utter confusion. “Sorry, thought I spotted some drool,” He dabs the corner of your lips. “Just there.”
You steal the napkin from his hand and toss it on the bar. “Thank you for your concern.” You take a long draft of your drink refusing to look at your fellow agent.
“Someone must be thirsty.” He snickers, not bothering to keep his laughter hidden.
“What can I say, the refreshments at the base have been far from gratifying.” Your quip might be implied but it hits its mark with flawless execution.
“Hey!” The volume of Seokjin’s voice rises to a new level to aid in his defence. “I’ll have you know I’ve been called an acquired taste.”
“You’ll have to forgive my pallet for not meeting your standards then. I’m in need of something that goes down a bit easier.”
You take your victory in the form of Seokjin’s reddening ears and sputter from his lips. “After that confession, I’m almost sorry to be standing between you and that tall drink. Almost.” He reiterates with a wink.
“It’s probably for the best.” You sigh, finally dropping the banter. “He might be interested now, but I bet that would change pretty quickly if he got to know me.”
“I doubt that.” He whispers right before he takes a sip. You can’t be entirely sure that he intended you to hear his comment.
“Oh really? You’ve spent the past week in very close proximity with me. How would you describe me?”
“There’s definitely a mix of frustration, with a side agitation, and a need for provocation. ” You let out a heavy groan while he continues. “Now some might find those to be unlikable traits, but I’ve come to find them very endearing.”
You snort into your drink. “That’s the best joke you’ve told yet.”
Seokjin nods carrying the weight of a small smile on his lips. “What about me? I’d be curious to hear how you read my personality.”
“Are you sure about that?’
He nods, “Hit me with your best shot... if you can.”
He might think you unable to read people, but you can’t wait to prove him wrong. Your words spill faster than you intend, creating an improvisational soliloquy into his psyche.“You deflect with humor constantly, which in turn prevents anyone from getting close because they can tell what you truly feel about them. Can’t take an order without asking a question. You’re determined to a fault, but you also use that drive when you’re concerned that something’s wrong. Not letting anything rest until you’ve fixed what can be fixed.”
He holds your gaze, sitting there in silent disbelief before he comes to and lashes out, “Completely incorrect, it’s a wonder you became an agent.” He shakes his head with a scoff before finishing his drink in one sip.
“Nice deflection,” you counter. “I rest my case.”
He narrows his eyes and gives no response other than to call for another round.
...
After finishing the second you’re about to suggest your return to the base, but the frown on Seokjin’s face as he looks into the bottom of his glass stops you. It should be an unwritten rule that men who look as good as him aren’t allowed to pout. How are you supposed to remain in charge when he can disarm you in seconds with a simple jut of his lip? It’s the one tool in his arsenal he has yet to use, you can only hope he doesn’t realize how effective it is on you.
You’re quick to order the next batch, and half way through the third he poses a question that he must have been holding on to. “You said in your analysis that people have trouble reading me because of my humour, how do I act when I really like someone?”
“How would I know?” You raise your brow along with your drink.
“Then how do you think I should act? You know, so it’s not misconstrued as humour.”
“Level with the person, have a serious conversation for a fraction of a second.” It feels odd to be giving him your input on such a matter. Why would he ask this of you? And why do you mentally recoil when you start to think of him using that advice on someone else?
“If that's the case, I should probably tell you...” He leans in towards you, his face just inches away. Your heart stops as his hand reaches out to cover yours. He pauses there for a moment watching your expression, “I need to,” The gaps in his speech are big enough for your mind to flee from reality, creating a scenario where he admits... “I need to go use the facilities.” A half-hearted chuckle pours of him along with the words which break you from your daydream.
“Then go,” You snap, your tone surprising even to you. It’s not like you wanted to have a serious moment with him, right? But the pain in your chest says otherwise.
“Are you... I was just kidding around,” he stammers.
What did you expect him to say, that he thinks of you as more than just an agent, even more than a friend? Did you want him to close the gap and kiss you? Oh god, you did. You like him. You like Kim Seokjin, and right then and there you wanted him to confess the same to you.
“Yeah I got it,” you mutter back, trying to cover your internal shock. “That’s all you ever do.”
Seokjin gets up from his seat and heads to the washroom. Leaving you at the bar to contemplate his words.
You feel like you’ve fallen into every trap you told yourself not to. But that can’t be right, it’s not like you fell for his fake smiles or flirtation. You must be drunk, that’s the only explanation. How else could you ever think that he might actually hold even a shred of feelings for you. He feels sorry for you, that’s all, that’s why you're here with him now. And once he’s treated your wounds, once he no longer feels guilty, he can go back to flirting with you and everyone else to get whatever he wants.
The bell over the door chimes as a large group of people enter. You immediately look away, embarrassed by your current distress, turning your head to focus instead on the photos of the owner and his patrons pinned to the walls. Dabbing the corner of your eyes with the tip of your finger.
Despite the number of newcomers the bar still remains oddly quiet. From a group of six you would expect the volume of conversation to be a bit more boisterous. With your instincts and suspicions now aroused, you keep an eye on them in the mirror over the bar.  Darting your eyes back to their reflection every few seconds, never wanting to linger too long. You’re about to throw away your apprehension, blaming it on your current level of anxiety on Seokjin, when something inexplicable happens.
As the man seated in the middle leans towards one of his companions for a chat, his hand rises to rub his long nose, and in what you can only describe as a rendering problem, it passes through. You try to remain calm grabbing your glasses from your purse, turning yourself slightly you manage to edge his face in the very corner of your frames. With the tap of your finger to the rim of the specs you launch an application you created but never had the need to use personally.
When you had first designed your car, Yoongi had complained that even with the locater he had difficulty finding the vehicle when he left it cloaked. It was a reasonable request that prompted you to create a function that scans for visual distortions and creates a digital replication of what lies beneath the camouflage. And now as you activate that function you find what Seokjin and the others hadn’t been able to track down for months, the face of Hwang.
He must be wearing what you can only guess is a variation on your technology, but instead of making his face invisible it projects different facial features over some of his own. It takes all of your restraint not to let out the swear taking up residence on the tip of your tongue. Why are they here of all places? Do they know that Seokjin is here? They look as if they’re waiting for someone. A potential mark, a seller, or maybe a buyer?
Regardless of motive if your colleague steps out of the bathroom he’ll walk right into their view. You pull your glasses off leaving them on the bar, and call out to the keep. “Would you mind watching my stuff for me?” You gesture to your coat and specs putting on a fake smile. “Don’t want to lose my seat.”
“Don’t worry.” He confirms with a soft tone along with a grin. “I’ll keep them safe.”
Gliding off the stool, avoiding the stares of the target and his men, you slip into the hall and behind the men’s room door. Thankfully Seokjin’s already at the sink by this point. You find him hunched over hands pressing down on the counter as he lets out a long sigh.
As he combs back his hair with damp fingers he looks up. Meeting your eyes in the mirror with embarrassment and disbelief, he lets out a small self pitting laugh. “Listen if you’re here to tell me off I get it, I didn’t mean-”
“Put your glasses on. You have them right?” You join him at the sink while his pity turns to confusion.
“What-”
“Just do it.”
He fumbles to retrieve them from his jacket pocket before sliding them on. You move in as close as you can, bracing yourself on his arms so you can speak into the receiver embedded. Seokjin looks taken aback but remains still as you encroach on his space. “Call Merlin, auto-connect override authorization 2769.” That creates a connection between the two glasses without you having to be there to answer it, allowing Seokjin to see the issue at hand.
“Fuck.” He whispers right next to your ear as you remain close, getting ready to call in for backup.
“My thoughts exactly.” You mutter, unable to decide if this is a stroke of good luck or bad.  “Add secondary line, call Lancelot.”
Seokjin leans his head down so the speaker falls next to your own ear. It’s not the best connection with the audio from the bar, but at least you can hear Hoseok. “Merlin, Galahad. What- am I seeing this right?”
“Yes, Hwang’s at our location, Choi’s bar. We’re not sure of his purpose here, but he’s brought a few friends.”
“I can see that, but why are you both there?”
“Not the time. We’re in the restroom but not in an adequate state to take on so many and secure the target. How long will it take you to get here?” You try to gloss over your lack of sobriety, but Hoseok doesn’t fall for the guise of your paraphrasing.
“Not in an adequate state huh? That’s an expression for drunk I haven’t heard before. Sending a message to Percival, I can have him and the team on site in 10 minutes. Can you maintain your current position?”
“Yeah small problem with that...” Seokjin comments.
“I heard it too, maintain cover at all cost. We can’t scare them away.” Hoseok’s voice flutters, sounding almost nervous.
“Heard what?” You can barely make out Hoseok’s words, let alone the taproom.
“Someone’s coming to check the bathrooms. They’re looking for any people of interest.”
“We could try slipping out the back door,” You offer.
Only for Hoseok to throw a wrench in your suggestion. “If it’s a business dealing they might have people posted there.”
“We need a distraction then?” You ask and Seokjin returns with a nod. Just hiding in a stall won’t do either, they’ll likely wait for the occupants to come out. You have to make them uncomfortable enough to leave without looking too close. You’ll probably regret what you're about to do later, but right now your options are limited.
You reach out and grip Seokjin’s shirt, drawing him into you so he has you pressed against the counter. He catches on quickly, putting his hands on your waist he lifts you up and onto the marble surface. “Make it look good Seokjin. Shouldn’t be hard for you to put on a show, you’ve had so much practice with me already.” His act of concern, and portrayal of affection have shown you he should do just fine when it comes to a performance of lust.
“It wasn’t my intent to toy with you.” He growls back before snatching your mouth with his, forceful enough to ensure swollen lips and smudged lipstick. One of his hands rises to your hair pulling the elastic out of place. Allowing his fingers to weave between the strands, he delivers a slight tug to your roots while you drag your teeth across his bottom lip.
You push his suit jacket off his wide shoulders, throwing it down on the counter next to you, before forcefully opening the top of his shirt, accidentally ripping the button off his collar in the process. He pauses his assault on your mouth for a moment, investigating the damage you imposed.
“It wasn’t my intent to destroy your shirt, but here we are,” You explain unfastening the next two buttons with a bit more care. Your fingers dip under the crisp white cotton of his shirt, raking visible lines down his chest.  “Take responsibility for your actions for once. Tell people your true intentions or you will hurt them.”
“You want me to know my intentions? Fine.” He unzips your dress a few inches to bare your collar and shoulders before his lips target your neck. You close your eyes letting your head roll back. “I want this.” Seokjin grabs your upper thigh compelling a gasp to escape you. “I want you.” He confesses the same time the door creaks open.
There’s not much movement from Hwang’s lackey. Your new audience doesn’t come in far, instead he freezes in place when he spots the both of you. Seokjin addresses him in a gruff manner without turning his face away from you . “It’s not a free show buddy, take your piss and leave.” The man clears his throat, turns round and closes the door in his wake, leaving you once alone with Seokjin. Though revelling in his soft bites to your neck, gaining back your composer is a more pressing matter. “I think he’s gone.”
“We can’t be too sure,” Seokjin counters your observation as he continues to nip at the column of your throat. “He might come back.”
“Shit, I just lost visual of the bar.” Hoseok interrupts much to your embarrassment. You somehow forgot he was on the com-line during your effort to teach your fellow agent a lesson. “We’re running blind, maintain cover for now.”
“See?” The breath of Seokjin’s laughter is felt on your skin as he wins the debate.
“You really want to keep going with this?” You’re surprised, just a few minutes ago the man was making you the butt of his joke. Why the change?
“I wouldn’t mind. I’m just sorry we couldn’t be somewhere more intimate, or private.”
“You and me both,” Hoseok deadpans.
“Lancelot, I suggest you find something else to watch while we maintain cover as directed,” Seokjin instructs. You find his mouth back on yours before he gets a response on the com.
He’s right though the circumstances are less than ideal for a romp. The damp counter beneath you, the flickering fluorescent lights, and the out of order stall in the corner are all enough to make you cringe. No part of this is glamorous except for the man standing in front of you, which makes him all the more appealing. “We could just lock the door you know.” You offer a logical substitute plan. “I’m sure after what they’ve seen they would understand and we could stop this charade.”
“But where’s the fun in that? I’m sorry but I am too dedicated to this cover. I want to see it through.”
“Percival’s team will be dropping in two minutes.” Hoseok cuts in.
“Yes sir,” Seokjin mumbles against your lips while he responds to Hoseok, not dwelling on the interruption. “We should probably make the act more realistic, you know gasps, moans, they might be listening.”
You highly doubt that, but if he wants to play, fine. You’ll show him what he’s missing when he casts you aside. “You first.” You respond, tugging him between your legs, causing the hem of your dress to ride back. His cock erect beneath his pants and pressing against your clothed core. He lets out a groan of relief. “So unlike you to be already standing at attention.” You tease him.
“What can I say, you bring out the best in me,” he gasps in response.
Seokjin takes your legs in his hands driving your dress even further up your thighs as he proceeds to grind against you. He tilts his head with a smile while you react. “Too far?” He whispers.
You shake your head. If only he knew what he would find if he pulled your underwear aside. Your cunt, committing the ultimate treason against your better sensibility, is ready and willing. If he’s not careful he might get a darkened spot on his suit pants.
As one hand slides further up the inside of your thigh, the other takes your chin directing you to meet his eyes. His fingers tease the edge of your underwear making their presence known and as he waits for permission to go further. You nod back at him. His fingers slip behind the strip of fabric, separating your sopping slit from the damp material. “Looks like you’re well prepared too Merlin.”
“I guess so,” You tease, “Do remind me to give a big tip to the bartender for that.”
“I have a hard time believing that none of this belongs to me.” Seokjin murmurs back to you, but just as his knuckles graze your slick folds and clit, Yoongi announces his team’s arrival. “Another time I guess,” Seokjin whispers with a final kiss to your cheek. He helps you off the counter and pulls down your dress to a more respectable length while he takes one last stroke of your thigh.
“I take it’s safe to restore visual now?” Hoseok asks with a hint of laughter. You’re never going to hear the end of this. “Percival’s about to enter, I do suggest locking the door this time though. In case anyone does make a run for it, we’ll catch them outback. I don’t want you two engaging in this capture if you don’t have too.”  You roll your eyes over Hoseok’s word choice. “Galahad, give Merlin the glasses. I want her input on the scene.”
Seokjin hands off his glasses to you and proceeds to lock you both in.
“Where are they stationed?” You inquire trying to get a full view of the task now at hand.
“The majority including Percival are entering through in the front, and a couple men out back, there was no one there so they must not be expecting a scene. Were there any civilians on site?”
“Just the barman.”
“Okay hang tight.” Hoseok orders.
“Are you sure we shouldn’t be helping?” You ask, wanting to distract yourself from the tension between you and Seokjin.
“Nah, Percival’s got this. Besides I saw your reflection and you’re looking a little flushed Merlin, you doing okay?”
“Shut up Lancelot,” you grumble back in a muffled tone.
“Was it the alcohol or was it Galahad?”  Luckily Seokjin was too far away to hear Hoseok's last question letting you ignore the comment as the team makes their entrance. Yoongi’s glasses give you the full view of what he sees. Hwang, much to your surprise, actually looks interested in the presence of the new arrivals. They’re obviously waiting for someone to show, but it’s clear that they have no idea who to look for.
“Don’t jump on the arrest so fast.” You direct, looking to gain any positive out of this awkward mission. The reward very much outweighing the risk. “You might be able to get some information first. Come off as a buyer, they might be trying to move the information or the tech.”
“You heard her Percival, get as much as you can before we make the catch.” Hoseok confirms your plan back to the rest of the team.
You watch barely drawing breath as he takes a seat across from the target. Hwang opens up the conversation first, “I didn’t think you would bring so many men just for a demonstration.”
“I prefer not to take any chances.” Yoongi’s response is blase, as he beckons the barman over to give his order.
Hwang looks uncomfortable, for someone with a product to sell he’s lacking the usual confidence that you would expect to see. “Well this should provide for your needs then. You ask me to come to the thick of their territory and as you can see I’m still here.”
“You are, but how do we know they aren’t waiting to make a strike? Have you ever seen one?” Yoongi pushes, he must be taking great enjoyment out of finally being able to pull one over on the man who’s kept them searching for so long.
“I have, once, but I’ve been able to keep myself hiding for months with this.” He taps something a bud placed in his ear. It must be what’s projecting the image overlay on his face disguising his true features. “Camera’s can’t pick up my face underneath, it’s better than any mask you can buy, as requested.”
“Where did you get the tech?”
“You-” The man pauses, his brow furrows before his expression shifts to a blank slate. He makes a subtle reach for his jacket pocket, but Yoongi is quicker on the draw. Lunging across the table he grabs the back of Hwang’s neck and smashes his head down on the table.
It’s hard to see the rest of the fighting with only Yoongi’s perspective. You catch flashes of the scene as the target’s men retaliate. There’s a flurry of pint glasses to distract as firearms are drawn. Broken shards scatter the establishment as the bartender flees away from danger towards the back exit with a phone to his ear.
The altercation ends rather quickly, with those who are still conscious held at gunpoint by Yoongi’s men. It’s a relief to see the target secured, and the tech recovered, but you are left with disgust after having your own work be used against your team.
Hoseok gives you the all clear to leave, but you're not sure you're ready to face the others just yet. “Could you give me a minute?” You request from Seokjin as he goes to open the door. He gives you a nod along with your hair tie, while you hand back his glasses.
“Yeah, I’ll just go... fetch our coats.”
“Could you find my glasses too while you’re out there Galahad?”
He freezes for a fraction of a second before giving you a hesitant response, “Yeah... yeah sure thing.”
What, no funny retort? No rebuttal? You thought calling him by his title would cause him to taunt you a little, but nothing comes of it. “If you can’t find them, the barkeep might have them.” That’s probably why the signal went dark, he must have moved them for safe keeping.
“Great. Just who I wanted to see.” He responds with a forced smile and gritted teeth.
“If it’s that much of a problem I’ll go get them back myself.”
Seokjin leaves you with a grunt, “No, no, I’ll go see the cowardly Casanova.”
The second he opens the restroom door you can hear Yoongi shout a request. “Galahad can I leave the team out back in your care? I need to move out and take this thief to Arthur for questioning.”
Hwang had apparently regained consciousness, and starts arguing in his defence. “I didn’t steal that data! I just set them up with someone to make their tech. They were supposed to come here, they asked for a demonstration here and then stood us up!”
Yoongi chooses to ignore him while he continues to give orders to Seokjin. “Make sure they drug the civilian, and then toss him behind the bar. Shouldn’t need to do much more than that, it already looks like standard bar brawl damage.”
“That I can do,” Seokjin responds with satisfaction as he steps out letting the door close between the two of you. It’s amazing how much one flirtatious bartender appears to have got under his skin.
You take a few minutes to straighten yourself in the mirror. Tying up your hair and closing the zipper on your dress when you spot several smudges of lipstick across your skin. You reach blindly for the paper towel, only to knock your purse to the floor in the process. A couple items roll away. Your pen, to your frustration, makes it all the way into the out of order stall. As tempted you are to leave it, you know it wouldn’t be wise to have something so lethal on the floor of a public bathroom.
With a groaning you crouch down, peering through the couple of inches between the stall door and the floor. Finding the missing item next to a pair of well worn leather shoes. You throw yourself back in shock grabbing your pistol from your overturned clutch, taking aim at the door bearing the sign. With a swift kick you force the stall open, and there passed out on the toilet is the man from the pictures behind the bar, the owner that Seokjin was asking after.
“Shit.” You lower your gun as you run out of the bathroom calling out for back up. The bar is deserted though, Yoongi’s team has already left, forcing you to head down the long hall to the back door alone. You slow your steps as you reach the end of the corridor, starting to pick up bits of conversation between Seokjin and the imposter. You keep yourself plastered to the wall trying to assess the situation with a narrow view through the window next to the door.
The once friendly bartender points a gun at Seokjin. The other agents, those that were supposed to be keeping an eye on the ‘civilian’ are out of commission, all laying on the ground around him.
“Call her out here, now.” The barman still holds onto his smile as he makes his demand, but now it only gives you chills as you try to puzzle out the motive behind it.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about.” Seokjin keeps his hands at eye level, he’s trying to play the role of innocent bystander but that’ll only get him shot if he’s not careful.
“The woman with you, that was Merlin, was it not? She designed this tech didn’t she?” He lifts your glasses for Seokjin to see. “And created the original cloaking program. I never should have outsourced it, she saw right through their guise. Since their product was faulty, I’ve been given a new directive.”
“Merlin? You mean like the magician in the old tales? Trust me that woman is nothing of the sort.” Seokjin is actually now chuckling despite having a gun held to him.
“Very well, if you won’t comply. We’ll just have to go retrieve her together.” He gestures Seokjin to the door with his gun. “After you.”
You shift yourself into position behind the door, when Seokjin opens it you remain concealed on the other side. Your fellow agent steps through, moving backwards to keep his eyes on the assailant, allowing him to spot you once he’s inside. You raise a finger to your lips holding your gun to your chest. You can’t let him give off any indication that he’s seen you.
When Seokjin’s a few feet down the hall the aggressor proceeds to follow, and once his arm crosses the threshold you ram your full weight against the door. There’s a howl of pain as you trap his forearm in the door frame. The gun drops from his hand and hits the floor. Seokjin moves first taking the weapon and then the arm of the man who pointed it at him. You release the door and Seokjin drags the enemy in, throwing him against the wall. There’s a sickening crack as his head meets the concrete behind him.
Though his body is now lip and eyes in a daze he still chuffs when he spots you, “So nice of you to join us Merlin, we were just talking about you.”
Seokjin pulls back a fist  letting land on the man's face with the full force of a brutal punch, finally sending the culprit into a comatose state.
“You okay?” You ask, noting his unusually rigid composure.
Seokjin nods, straightening his jacket as he lets the imposter fall to the floor. “Looks like I was right, you did catch his attention.” He boasts, with levity returning to his voice. “How did you know to come find me?”
“Found Choi, right where he said he’d be too...” You watch as Seokjin crouches down to retrieve your glasses from the man. “Who is he?”
“I don’t know, but I doubt he works alone.” Seokjin comments while staring at the tattoo that had caught your eye earlier, a flock in the shape of a V.
...
Yoong makes a return trip, picking up the new captive as well as aiding the unconscious agents. The detainees will be moved to headquarters where they’ll be held for questioning before they’re turned over to the authorities along with a list of transgressions and admissible evidence.
After returning from the bar your base is busier than ever, with everyone following standard procedure and filing reports. There’s hardly room to move, let alone have a private moment with Seokjin to discuss what transpired. A full night and day go by with you only being able to lock eyes with him across the room. As much as you want to talk to him, your duty comes first, ensuring that everyone receives their new orders after the unusual turn of events.
You retreat to your room after a long day of report processing. There are still a few statements left to grab but those can be done tomorrow. The first recordings of the interrogation have come in and you're desperate to hear what Hwang has to say about the tech you found him with. To your delight it’s that exact question which Namjoon poses first.
Hwang rattles off the information, needing little prompting, they must have already cut a deal. “I was contacted  by an anonymous client over a year ago, they asked if I might know of someone who could utilize a cloaking program they had picked up, and apply it to something else. They wanted a mask, a way to hide in plain sight. I offered up a tech company who does some backwater dealings in armaments and weapons, and became the middleman between the two parties until the project was finished.”
“And you have no idea who hired you?” Namjoon asks. “I find that hard to believe.”
“Their wallet was big enough their identity wasn’t a concern, my main contact only referred to himself as V. He called me to the bar last night to provide a final demonstration to prove it worked before his agency made the purchase.”
Seokjin was right, Hwang was just a fence. Which would confirm the other man part of the group who orchestrated the data breach.
You switch between the video files, hoping to find the other more enlightening. In the very centre of the shot sits the man dubbed as V. He answers none of the questions directed to him. Minutes pass while he remains silent looking directly into the camera with a  jeering grin and narrowed eyes. It’s off putting to say the least, no offer or deal can sway him to spill his knowledge. He looks content almost as if this is exactly where he wants to be. While the interrogators become increasingly frustrated, his smile only grows wider.
You close out of the recording unable to take the silent stares any more. There’s nothing in his file they’ve attached other than physical attributes.  As you search the empty pages for a scrap of knowledge, a call request comes in from Arthur. You throw on your glasses answering in haste hoping he’ll have something new to share.
“Sorry to bother you so late. It’s been quite a day.” His voice is full of cracks and weariness.
“It’s no problem. I can only imagine after seeing the footage. Any new information on who this man works for?
“No, nothing.”
“Oh,” Your voice echoes in confusion, “Was there something else you needed? Did you get my report?”
“Yes I did, thorough as usual. But it’s not your report I wanted to discuss.” Namjoon pauses again. ”I received an unusual request from Galahad at the end of his. I wanted to talk it over with you before I gave my answer.”
“Go ahead.” You cringe fearing what he might have said in his statement.
“I freed him from lock down, and offered a new assignment, but he requested permission to stay and assist you with the vehicle repairs until they were completed. I would permit his extension, but I don’t believe that the answer to this decision rests fully with me, so I’m leaving it to you.”
“Don’t you need him back in the field? We don’t know who this man V is, or who he’s working for.”
“And it’s doubtful that we’ll learn anything more anytime soon unless he starts answering our questions. There’s little direction in where we can take the investigation right now. I don’t have anything that requires urgent attention, that’s why the choice is yours to make. If you need help or want assistance he’s offering it to you.”
“Thank you sir,” You’re grateful that he has left you with the final decision on the matter. “Would you mind if I spoke to him first before I decide?”
“Not at all.”
...
You creep out into the common area, Hoseok is splayed out on the couch while Yoongi’s curled up on the armchair, but Seokjin is nowhere to be found. Did he leave the base taking advantage of his newly acquired freedom?
You doubt you’ll be able to sleep, not with the questions you have running through your head. Looking to keep your mind busy you descend the stairs and enter the passcode to your workshop, only to find the lights already on and Seokjin’s long legs sticking out from under the car. There’s a swear and a clang of a metal tool hitting the cement floor. You hold back a laugh as you approach, choosing instead to surprise him by pulling on the roller bed to tug him out from beneath the car.
The initial shock on his face quickly changes to a smug grin. “I guess I’ve been caught.”
“Trying to sabotage my work again?”
“No, if you can believe it I’m actually trying to be an aid rather than a hindrance.”
“I’ll alert the media.” You fire back before diving into the more serious topic at hand. “I just got off the line with Arthur. He said you’ve been cleared to return to duty...”
Seokjin’s face falls slightly as he sits up on the rolling platform, “Oh-”
“But you also requested an extension here.”
“I did.” He looks up at you with sincerity, one that’s rarely seen on his face. No deflection to humour. This is just him.
“I need to know why.” You keep your expression even, not wanting your feelings to influence him in any way.
“I want to help fix the car.”
“I need more of an explanation than that Seokjin. A few days ago you couldn’t wait to get out of here. ” This is it, there’s no room to spare feelings. He’ll tell you he feels guilty, or that he feels sorry for you, leaving you to send him on his way and that will be the end of this trial.
“I don’t want things to go back to the way they were before. I like working with you, being here with you. You're not afraid to let me know when I’ve crossed the line.”
“So what, you just want to use me to keep you in check? I’m not here to fix you Seokjin.” You start to back away ready to send word to Namjoon that he’s free to assign him elsewhere when Seokjin grabs your hand, he rises from his spot on the floor in a rush to stand between you and the door.
“That’s not what I meant. You make me want to be better.”
You pull yourself from his grip backing into the side of the car, “And after you’ve used me to better yourself, what then? You’ll just move on to your next project?”
“No, fuck... I don’t know how else I can say it other than I like you Merlin. You aren’t the plan, you’re the objective.” He pauses for a moment, watching as his words sink in to you. “If you’re not interested in what I want to offer... I get it, but stop being so blind when it comes to yourself!”
You fall still as you hear his confession, but you’re not ready to believe or condemn his words just yet. “If that’s the case why did you mock me at the bar?” Your voice wavers as you question him. “Why didn’t you say something?”
“I was going to, but I didn’t think you would appreciate a drunken confession. You wanted a serious conversation, here it is. I want to stay here with you. Even if you’re not interested in a relationship, I respect that, but I still think we could both benefit from working together.”
He’s right, you might have believed him right then, but later, once the effects of the alcohol had worn off you would’ve thought it another game of his. You shift against the car embarrassed by your misreading of his motives, but pleased to see that they fall in line with your own.
“I wouldn’t say that I wasn’t interested...” You mumble your own confession carefully as he shifts in closer to his mouth catching a grin when he hears your words. “But staying would put you in a problematic position when you’re required to follow my orders. If we’re to continue down this path there wouldn’t be an equal power dynamic.”
“Good.” he mutters along with a chuckle. “Is that your only objection?”
“Yes, but-”
“Arthur released me from under your command. Any order you give will be discretionary.”
“Discretionary orders?” You scoff. “You can barely follow mandatory orders.”
“Yes but it solves your problem, doesn't it? This way you can be sure that I will only follow an order if I want to.” He leans in placing his hands on either side of you on the hood of the car. “So Merlin, do you want me to stay?”
“Yes...”
“Do you want to continue what we started yesterday?”
You nod biting your lip at the thought of it.
“Then I await your orders.” He stands still not moving an inch while you remain caged between his arms and caught in his eyes.
“Let’s be clear on something first,” You state, trying not to focus on how close his lips are or how soft they’ll feel when they touch your skin.“I don’t want you to think you are in any way saving me.”
“I am well aware of that now. I finally realise I need you to save me.”
“From what?” You can’t help but laugh at his conclusion.
“My impulsive actions.” He lifts you onto the car just like he lifted you onto the bathroom counter. “My runaway mouth.” He closes the distance for a swift kiss. “And my very unprofessional desires.” His fingers flirt with the bottom of your shirt taking up residence underneath the garment against the skin of your waist.
“Yet you combat every effort when someone tries to restrain those tendencies,” You scold with a smile.
“You told me yourself I don’t go down easily... If you want to put me in my place you’re going to be more commanding.”
“And you would like that?” You ask in disbelief.
“Why don’t you find out...”
“Seokjin I-I don’t know if I-” You start to panic, stammering at the thought of going too far and becoming what others have thought of you before, “I don’t want you to hate...”
“If I need to stop I’ll tell you to brake. But right now I really want you to take the wheel, and put your foot down. No detours, just floor it.” He tightens his hold on you leaning in next to your ear with a growl. “Don’t get shy on me now. Give me your orders.”
The cheek in his tone at last sets off the need for retaliation in you, evoking a desire to finally see him begging you for more. He’s never backed away from you, leaving you with no reason to believe he’ll do so now. If this is what he wants you’ll be happy to try and make him submit. “You can start with losing this.” You tug on his grease stained shirt. “And these too.” Dragging your finger over the waist of his jeans.
He strips looking eager to play along. Leaving him in a pair of black boxers clinging to his swelling girth. “Like what you see?”
“You’ll do.” You snicker back at him. You take the back of his neck and pull him in for a kiss, as he moves to hold your lower back. He finds his way between your thighs once again but this time there’s nothing to stop you both from going further.
“Do you want to take those off?” You brush your hands on the elastic of his underwear.
“Yes.” His answer is short and sweet, with nothing to misinterpret. You could get used to this side of him.
“Then you’ll have to do something for me first.” You shift your pants down kicking them to the floor. Taking one last kiss of Seokjin’s lips before pressing his shoulders down to make his mouth level with your hips. The grin he gives is something to revel in, finally seeing it as a sign of desire rather than a farce.
He pulls your underwear to the side. The first lick is short and sweet causing you to flinch from the flick of his tongue. The second he takes care in following the line of your slit but he doesn’t pull away at the end, instead he latches on to your clit taking deep drags which pull you under in an instant.
Your hand reaches out to grip his hair needing something to hold on to and hold him back with if necessary, but once your fingers tug at Seokjin’s locks he moans into your flesh. His hands pull you closer to the edge of the car allowing him to bury himself even deeper.
He slowly gains a rhythm with his tongue and lips, but every time you come close, when your breathing becomes shallow he starts to pull back. He’s teasing you, clearly goading you to become more strict with your desires.
“No more games Seokjin. If you can’t get me there in the next minute, I promise you’ll regret it.”
He pulls away for a moment to draw breath while giving you a taunt. “I’d like to see that.”
He’s about to return to his task when you push him back, no longer giving him the chance at redemption. You point to a straight back chair facing away from you , “Sit down, with your head forward.”
He does as you ask with a smile still stuck to the corner of his mouth. You slide off the car and move behind him towards your work desk, stripping off your shirt, and undergarments as you stray from his line of sight. Grabbing something from the inventory closet before you return to him, still hiding from his gaze .
He tries to look back at you but you put a stop to that. “Did I say you could look around?”
“No ma’am.” He chuckles back.
“Since you like games so much I thought of one to play. Give me your hand, and tell me what I put in it without looking.”
“I don’t see what this has to do with-” You cut off his complaint quickly by placing the metal object in his hand reaching out behind him. “Handcuffs?” Seokjin questions with surprise. “I stand corrected, this seems like a fun game.”
“Put them on,” you order. He complies instantly, letting you check the tightness once he’s done. “Safey’s there if you need it. Just tell me to brake.”
“Oh no, I’m quite comfortable thank you.” He grins proudly as if this is what he was hoping for all along.
As you move in front of him finally gracing him with your nude form he stares back at you dumbfounded. You reach out to the corner of his mouth, which sits agape, wiping at the edge of his lips with your thumb. “Sorry I thought I spotted some drool.” Seokjin smiles at your mimicry and jab, but he has no words to follow with.
You kneel down in front of him, your hands trailing up to reach for his boxers. “May I?”
“Please do.”
You tug them down releasing his erection from the confines of the fabric. You're careful not to touch him, not wishing to give any satisfaction or stimulation. Once they’re pulled down to his ankles you move to the uninstalled backseat of the car sitting right across from him. Seokjin furrows his brow in confusion.
“Something wrong?” You prompt hoping to have him admit that he wants you to return to him.
“No, just admiring the view.”
“Really?” You persist in teasing him a little more, “Because it looks like you need something.”
“Only to know the next step in this game of yours.”
“You get to watch while I play.” You lay back on the car bench resting your feet on the soft leather. Your hand moving down between your legs picking up where Seokjin left off, with a slow rub to your crest.
“That seems unfair.” He flexes his arms, testing the cuffs as he watches you.
“That’s what happens when you don’t read the instructions, I get to make the rules.” He lets out a groan as you close your eyes ready to concentrate on your own pleasure. You know you’re wet enough already but for good measure and Seokjin’s torturous show you prep your fingers in your mouth before slipping the tip of your index finger inside yourself.
There’s a small whine from Seokjin, you look over to him, your eyes take a moment to focus on his face, his teeth digging into his now swollen bottom lip. “Let me help you, please.”
“That’s not how punishments work Seokjin. You had your chance, and you disobeyed.”
Giving him a side profile allows your thigh to hide the sight of your fingers dipping in. The sounds though, those are his to enjoy. You continue to satisfy yourself for a while longer enjoying the little jots of pleasure you can give yourself and Seokjin’s moan every time you twitch. It’s hard not to pay attention and give in to returning to him. With his cock pulsing against his leg with a drop of precum growing at the tip. His lip must be sore with how hard he’s biting down.
Unable to ignore his whimpers any longer you get up from the leather bench. You present your fingers to his mouth damp from your ministrations. You don’t even get the chance to ask before he takes them into his mouth and licks them clean. When you pull them from his lips, he beams back at you. “Was that attentive enough for you?”
“Very...” You commend him, straddling his legs facing him as you lower yourself. Your hand grips his cock while the other rests on his shoulder balancing yourself as you guide him inside.
He gasps out a swear along with your real name as you sink down fully onto his lap. You lean into him letting your chest push against his as you rise and fall on his shaft. Pressing and grinding yourself against his seated form has him throbbing inside of you. He’s quickly become a breathy mess beneath you, a sheen of sweat covers his forehead, with even more dripping down his pecs.
Your pace increases in speed as you edge closer to your climax. The warmth begins to spread to your extremities as you continue to thrust down. When the wave finally washes over you can barely move. “Fuck-” You whisper along with a plea. “Don’t you dare come yet.” You collapse against him riding it out, clenching while Jin groans.
“Take the cuffs off.” His moaning request is impossible to deny. As fun as it was to see him at your mercy you long to have his hands back on you.
You reach for the restraints behind his back, with a quick press of a hidden release he’s free.  Wasting no time he grabs you, helping your legs to wrap around his waist. Positioning you securely against him, he rises to move two steps required in order to ram you back down onto the car bench.
He pulls one leg up and over his shoulder while he holds the other level with his hip. Despite your sensitivity, he’s relentless in his thrusts, pushing you directly from the wave you just finished and on to the next.
He’s so close to his end, his muscles tense, his face stern with a clenched jaw, it takes a moment for you to realize he’s waiting for your permission. He’s holding back until you give him the okay. “You can come Seokjin.” Upon hearing this his thrusts suddenly hit harder forcing you to cry out. “Fuck, please come.”
He shudders with the last impact. Releasing your legs, he lowers himself onto you while his cock still pulses inside. His head rests on the seat beside yours, the hot air from his heavy pants flows down your neck as you lay there trying to catch your own breath.
“I think we might have ruined the new car seat.” You chuckle at him, your laughter restricted by the pressure of his body on your chest. “I should probably order another.”
“And miss out on Hoseok’s expression when he realized what the stains are from?” He nudges closer, kissing the spot behind your ear with his swollen lips. “Not a chance.”
You start to drift beneath him content with the warmth and weight of his form. He gives you a few minutes rest caressing the side of your face with the tip of his finger before he poses an important question. “You’re still okay with me staying here then?”
You turn your head to meet his eyes with a smirk. “Yes, but you still have to earn your keep if you want a stay.” You gesture to the state that he’s left the workshop in, “In addition to cleaning up your mess.”
Seokjin briefly glances to the tools strewn along the ground and then back at you with a smirk. He then shifts his whole body down, dipping his head back between your legs. “Yes ma’am.”  His tongue takes a long stroke, cupping your cum filled cunt. “Hope you don’t mind if I start here.”

Part 11 | Not Alone
“One step, one step, one step each. Closer, closer, closer to the place that appeared in my dream that looks like me, can you feel not alone?”
Prev • Next
The laughter and the applause in the room are quickly replaced by whispers between each other. They are clearly baffled with the turn of the event, trying to solve the puzzle.
“What is the meaning of this?!” While he still talks in a somewhat calm manner, the way his eyes stutter tell Jaehyun that he is anything but calm.
The officers in uniform reached to where they are standing, each proceeds to hold the arms of Mr. Jeong’s and Kyungmi’s. As expected, at least one of them goes berserk.
“Don’t touch me!” Kyungmi swatted the officer’s hand, refused to be taken away, “Jaehyun, tell them who I am! They don’t have the right to do this!”
“Oh, but they do.” Jaehyun talks calmly. A side of him that you know –when he locked on his prey and he knows the percentage of his success is almost absolute.
“Jeong Jaehyun, you don’t want to do this.” His father warned him, and for the first time that night, he whispered instead of speaking proudly, possibly so that the mic wouldn’t catch his words. “Don’t mess around.”
He took a glance at his father and his so-called fiancée that he never acknowledges. He gave a nod to the officers, cueing them to proceed with the arrest.
Before any of them could make a scene, Jaehyun took the mic again, “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m terribly sorry for the commotion.” He didn’t even bother about the ruckus behind him, “I understand that today was supposed to be a celebration of our new launch, but I’d like to use this opportunity to address a few things, and why it is important to announce it right here, right now.”
His eyes are now directed to your table, where he mainly locks his gaze to yours, “Also, I’d like to apologize to the involved team, especially to Mr. Seo and also Ms. [Y/L/N] as the person in charge of this project. Really, I do regret that I need to steal the star of the show.”
The way he calls you flinches you. Not only does it causes the whole hall to look at your direction, but also it feels extremely strange for Jaehyun to address you that way. It’s foreign, so foreign.
“Objections!” Frustrated that his own flesh and blood did not obey him, you can tell that he starts to lose his composure, “Jaehyun, what are you doing?! You’re clearly not thinking straight. You exposing me means you exposing yourself.”
Jaehyun just stands there, giving his father a disdainful look.
Obviously you can hear a bit of their words from the microphone, but not enough for you to grasp the full picture as the stage was quite far. Everyone seems perplexed and share the same sentiment with you, except for Johnny.
“Johnny,” Noticing that it is very strange for him to be this calm, you called him in hope you could get an answer, “What is going on? Do you know anything?”
Smirk appears at one corner of his lips, “Just wait and see.”
“Mr. Jeong,” Jaehyun said, purposefully talking in front of the mic so that the whole hall could hear him loud and clear. There’s a hint of contempt in the way Jaehyun called his father.
He no longer addresses him as his own.
“Before you could object to anything, I’d think it would only be fair for our valuable guests to know where I’m coming from.”
“Don’t you dare…!” He tried to threaten Jaehyun, but at the same time he was being careful not to taunt him too much. He didn’t want to lose his pride, even so, there was a trail of fear in his tone.
“Oh, I do, sir,” Jaehyun said, ice cold. “Taeil, would you please.”
“Guards!” His father tried to intercept, calling his own men.
However they never arrived. The imperious man finally lost his presence of mind, looking around, puzzled. On the other hand, the strikingly handsome person who is stationed at the FOH immediately granted Jaehyun’s command.
“So, your father, how is he?”
The screen at the stage displayed an audio-only footage. And even without the picture, it is no brainer to figure out who is the owner of the voice.
“You know, it’s the same old, Jaehyun.” The other counterpart owns a fairly high-pitched voice, and it was no other than Kyungmi’s. “Thank God your dad is well connected to Chief Jang! If not it will be over for us.”
“Chief Jang?”
“Yes, him! Daddy was telling me he was involved in poker scam when all he did was to invite that stupid rich guy from Sri Lanka!”
“Ms. Hyun, if I were you I wouldn’t say such information in a public place like this.” That is when you realized the audio was mixed with rustles, including a few sounds of people’s laughter in the background.
“Oh, Jaehyun, you’re so square!” Kyungmi squealed, borderline annoying, “We’re going to be husband and wife soon anyway. Also, I know your father would take care of it if things go bad, so it’s toots fine!”
“So yeah, I was saying,” She totally dismissed Jaehyun’s warning, “Daddy’s worst habit is he never checks on his client’s background. Who would’ve thought he was a criminal, a mafia or some sort!”
“Well that’s a surprise,” The clinking sound of cutleries being put down –presumably fork and knife– leaks in the audio, “I mean, knowing our backgrounds, Ms. Hyun, I thought your father would take extra precautions.”
“I know right! But I think daddy felt safe because we’re about to get married. Nobody messes around with your father, Jaehyun, we all know that. In any case, the seven hundred million that daddy gets from him will also be split to your father’s bank account too.”
The whole audience gasps.
“Nonsense!” His father tries to escape the officer’s grip. “Jaehyun, I command you to stop! This is ridiculous!”
“Jaehyun! You recorded our conversation?!” Kyungmi also protests.
“What are you doing, son?!” His father used all of his strength to move closer to where Jaehyun is, suit all wrinkled from trying to escape the officers’ grip. “Don’t you realize the consequences we’ll have to deal with once all of these leaks out?!”
“Everyone!” She pleaded, “This is all fabricated! My father and I are people of honor! We, The Hyuns, would never do such things!”
“Fabricated?” Jaehyun stared at the two people who looked awry in front of him.
That is when they know they just landed on the minefield.
Jaehyun scoffed, mockingly, “Initially don’t want to show this because the footage is not very pleasing. Believe me, if only the two of them would admit the truth, I wouldn’t.” He speaks to the audience, dismissing the protests behind.
“For the record,” He continues, “I would like to warn everyone that what I’m about to show you is containing graphic content and might be upsetting to watch. So if you are sensitive to the subject, I advise you to not look, but this is needed to unfold the truth.”
Jaehyun gives Taeil a nod, permitting him to play the infamous clip.
Suddenly the screen plays a motion image of a corridor. By the setup, you’re guessing the location was in the corridor of a luxury hotel. A penthouse, probably.
“Ready, Chicago?”
“Whenever you are, Winnie.”
The unfamiliar voice called for the unfamiliar name, but after spending so much time meeting with him, you know that the voice belongs the man who’s sitting next to you. You seem to be the only one who realized this, as you are the only one who shift your gaze to him who casually watching the footage while crossing his legs.
At the cue, they forcefully enter the room, at the sight of middle-aged men in the middle of intercourse, where a lone woman is unconscious. There are no subtitles available, but it is evidently clear that she was drugged. One of the men who was in the middle of recording the lovemaking panicked. He tried to escape but unfortunately for him the person who wore the camera got him. Johnny, on the other hand swiftly took care of the man who was raping the lady.
“Do we got them all?” Johnny checks.
“We do,” Another man appears on the frame. He was wearing a uniform so you couldn’t tell who it was.
“Good.” The cameraman applauds them for their swift and clean job. “Teddy, help Winnie tying them up. I got business to ask this guy.”
“Roger that, Casper,” The person with code name Teddy exclaims, before the camera pans to a disgusting figure of the rotten old man. Not only you were horrified with the fact that the footage wasn’t censored, but you were also shocked by the fact that you know there could be only one who possessed the low velvety voice like the cameraman’s – no other than Jeong Jaehyun himself.
“Chief Jang,” He approached the man in question, filming the man’s then-horny face. “Look what we got, a prestigious man gang-banged an immobilized woman. What would the society say?”
“Don’t!” The man asked for mercy. “Please, I’ll do anything! Don’t let people know!”
He whimpers, but Jaehyun shows no sign of backing off, “Anything?”
“Yes, yes! Anything! What do you want? Money? Gold? Oh, I can give you women, too!”
Johnny clearly was not satisfied with his answer. He almost lost his temper at the way this man looked down on women, he reactively choked the man out of anger.
“Easy,” Jaehyun commands, “Now listen you piece of shit,” Jaehyun squatted so he can be on the same eye-level as the man. He pulls his hair so he could get a clearer shot of his face, which in return gains a shrieking yelp from the man.
“Tell me, where did you get all of these accesses?”
The man writhed in pain but refused to speak a single word.
“Chicago,”
Johnny slammed the man’s head to the end of the bed, causing him to scream in pain, and blood started to ooze from his head. The audience screamed at the sudden violence. Some even took a napkin and rushed to the nearby toilet, feeling nauseated.
“Talk,” He pulls the man’s head once more, revealing his ugly sobs that are mixed with blood. “You don’t want to mess around with our friend here,” He gestured to Johnny, “He’s a man of brute strength.”
“I’ll talk! I’ll talk!” It’s almost disgusting how he easily gives in. “It’s Wonshik Hyun! He told me if I could let him out of his gambling cases, he would exchange it with these!”
“Wonshik Hyun?”
“The founder of Hyun Ventures!” He choked, almost out of breath due to the pain. However when he looked at Jaehyun’s glare, he was instantly intimidated, “He is addicted to gambling, and it is thanks to his partner, the founder of NCT Corporation he’s able to walk away!”
“You’re from fucking law enforcement, Chief Jang.” Jaehyun scowled, sickened by the way he acted, “At the highest ranking for fuck’s sake, yet here you are.”
“I’m sorry!” He cries, “I was about to investigate it but I just can’t stop.”
Jaehyun clicked his tongue in disbelief.
“Please let me go! Don’t tell anyone about this! I have a family back home.” He sobs, asking for their pity.
“My son, yes, my son!” His pathetic face quickly turned bright, as if he just found a way out. “He’s about to enter college! My child, he aims to enter law school this year, surely you don’t want to ruin his future?!”
A fist landed on his cheek, snapping his nose into a grotesquerie. He didn’t stop with just a punch, not until Johnny held him back.
“Enough, Casper. He won’t be able to speak.”
“Fucking bastard.” Barely holding his anger, you never know Jaehyun is capable of releasing such wrath. “We are the one who’s gonna ruin his future? Look at yourself you filthy fuck–”
The video stops, and the crowd quickly starts to murmur. They closed their mouths at the sudden revelation, and it’s obvious that they’re giving displeased looks to Jaehyun’s father.
“How…”
Cat got his tongue. He can’t say anything when the evidence is crystal clear.
“Sir,” Jaehyun answers confidently, “You, introducing me to Ms. Hyun is exactly the key that I needed to unfold the truth. That part I have to thank you.”
“Jaehyun, you used me?! How could you, I’m your fiancée!”
The crowds let out a loud gasp before Jaehyun calmly handles the situation, “Fiancée? Did I ever say yes to the engagement? You’re the one who’s acting on your own. Our meetings are always arranged by my father, telling me I should get close to you. But I’m glad I can turn our dinners to gain the information I needed, Ms. Hyun”
His statements made Kyungmi lost all the strength on his legs. She couldn’t accept if this is her fate so she continues to freak out, “How dare you, Jaehyun! I loved you, and I thought what we share was real!”
If a gaze could cut, Kyungmi would be in pieces right now. Jaehyun’s stare was sharp, and cold, causing her to flinch. “How could I love you when I don’t even have your number, Ms. Hyun? I know nothing of you, except the fact that you own a loose mouth.”
You can start to listen to the people behind you talking to each other.
“She’s his fiancée?”
“What kind of fiancée that doesn’t have each other’s number? What a crazy woman!”
“She’s just delusional, Jeong Jaehyun probably just talked to her once and she thinks he’s her!”
“Ms. Hyun,” Jaehyun continues to speak, this time looking directly at her, still standing near the mic. “I’d like to thank you for giving me the most crucial information regarding…” He hesitates but decides to proceed. “This father of mine. But I’d like to tell you and,” He looks forward to the guests. “To everyone who attends.”
“There’s only one woman in my life that was able to change my heartless soul. She’s the one that I will always treasure. I never know my heart is capable of beating the way it beats when she’s around me. Her views, her visions. She’s different from any other woman I knew. She’s a fighter, a firecracker, in fact. And that is why I love her. She’s the one who introduces me that there is always hope.”
“Because of this,” He looked back at the two people, scornfully, “I was unable to keep her. But like a ray of sunshine after rain, I hope tomorrow, or the day after, or even after it passes seventy years.” He took a quick glance at you, before directing it back upfront. “I hope it could bring her.”
You bring both of your hands in front of your hand, not expecting his sudden confession. You swore you’re not a crybaby, but the last few minutes are probably the most information you have to take in a short period of time and it’s understandable that you’re unable to keep your emotion in check.
Your heart is about to jump out of your chest, heart racing from his words. Tears welled up, but you’re not a fighter –like what Jaehyun mentioned, if you didn’t try to fight your own tears.
“Fool!” Finally snaps, his father uses every bit of his strength to escape from the hands that are holding him. “You just expose our family, Jaehyun! Do you think you can escape this?! Or your filthy ungrateful brother?!” He said, grabbing his son’s suit. Jaehyun, who’s clearly on the upper hand in term of strength, easily broke free from his grip.
“Don’t act like we’re your own,” Jaehyun grunts, “I’ve not used a single penny you gave to me. You can check my bank account where you always transfer my money. The amount is exactly whatever you gave to me in years.”
His face slowly lost its vibrance, “And don’t act as you care about Mark,” Jaehyun looks at Mark’s direction, nodding at him to make him feel secured. “I did this for our family, when you failed to do so. I bet all of my net worth that you don’t even know that Mark has been working part-time for his own spendings. Also, from this day onwards all of his necessities will go through me as I will be his guardian.”
Mark’s jaw drops, he could not believe the turn of the events –of his rotten father finally meeting his doom.
You thought by now his father would turn himself, but you were wrong. Instead, he started to laugh hysterically.
“Heh, do you think it will be easy, boy?” His father snickers, as if he lost his sanity. “Wait until I talk to my lawyer. Do you think my men would stop? You just took one person, son. That is barely enough to take me down.”
“Oh?” Jaehyun raised one brow upwards, “Three months ago when you first introduced Ms. Hyun at Seo’s office, we’re already more than halfway in on our operation.”
“Not only I was involved, but I am connected to your people too. I hope you haven’t turned insane to not remember that you do planned on making me the next heir.” He said, unfazed.
“Most of your powerful men are now waiting for their trials. You’ll be the next in line. You’ll have the right to consult with a lawyer prior to any further questioning at your own expense. Though, your personal lawyer, Mr. Yang would not be able to attend due to the fact he receives money from illegal transactions.”
“You son of a bitch!” Jaehyun’s father finally lost it, about to throw his fist to Jaehyun. Him, being well-trained in combat, is able to tackle it easily, twisting his father’s arm.
“Bitch? Who are you referring to, my deceased mother?” He looked low at his father, who’s writhing in pain. “Let’s finish this in the court. Though, I’m positive you’ll end behind the bars for the rest of your life. Then, go and think twice before you call my mother that way.”
He pushed his father away and the officers quickly grab him. With Jaehyun’s commands, they finally take both Mr. Jeong and Kyungmi away.
“Sorry for the scene,” He runs his hand through his hair, fixing it before he greets the audience, “There will be another separate session for the press release regarding this. So for tonight, do enjoy the food and the champagnes. I was told the canapés are marvelous.”
He then goes down the stage, to where Mark is. Mark practically runs to his older brother, asking for a further explanation about the whole situation. Same goes with the rest of the people. As expected, the crowds start to swarm around both of them.
“I guess nobody is interested in the canapés, huh?” Johnny said, finally turning his body to where the rest of you are.
“Duh. But before that,” You lean forward so you’re closer to Johnny, “You are a fucking secret agent? What the heck is going on! How could I not know?!”
“Language, [Y/N]. And if you do know then I’m doing a lame job as a secret agent, no?” He chuckles, rightfully earned your tiny punches.
“I thought you invited me for your project launching party, [Y/N].” Yuta finally spoke, after every single one of you on your table was silenced due to the drama that happened on the stage. “You never told me that… we’re going to watch a soap opera.”
“Believe me, Yuta,” You rolled your eyes, “How could I know?”
You guys were busy discussing what just happened, and then suddenly you sensed that flocks of people were coming to your direction.
You turned your head to find the fine man in white suit was the one who brought the crowd to you.
“[Y/N],” He says softly.
“Jaehyun,” You reactively rose from your seat, but quickly hesitated. Jaehyun did declare his love to you. Sure, he never mentioned your name but that doesn’t change the fact that the first woman he approached was you –and you know how much people quickly jump into the conclusion. The last thing you want is to gain people’s attention by being together with him.
“Johnny,” As if he could read your mind, he quickly glanced at Johnny’s direction, which Johnny replied with a single nod.
“Alright, everyone,” Johnny stands up, fixing his suit. “Donghyuck, let’s guide them to the VIP room.”
Without any further explanation, Donghyuck escorts both you and Yuta to the designated room. The journey there was tedious, you couldn’t imagine how Jaehyun could even walk to you with the crowd constantly barging him with questions.
“Mr. Jeong! What makes you do this?”
“Is it out of revenge, Jaehyun?”
“Our transaction with NCT Corporation is legal, right?”
The crowd was more persistent than what Jaehyun thought. They keep pushing, demanding for an answer while Jaehyun kept his mouth shut. As the result, they squeezed you. Of course, Jaehyun would stay by your side in a heartbeat if he could, but there’s a line that he couldn’t cross –Yuta trying his best to protect you next by your side. But there’s so much that Yuta can do, fighting the rest of the hall by himself.
“Sicheng,”
Jaehyun uses his eyes to point in your direction, and a person named Sicheng who was stationed nearby quickly guards you. It becomes more bearable, since he granted you with enough space to walk, especially when you’re wearing an evening gown.
When they almost reach the end of the hall, more bodyguards are stationed, letting you and the rest of the group in while they hold the crowd who are still curious.
“Alright,” Johnny closes the door, now that everybody is inside the room. “So, how should we start, Jae?”
Now all eyes are on Jaehyun, including yours. But Jaehyun only fixes his gaze to yours.
He was drained. He might win this, but that was after he pulls every of his ace cards. All he wanted was to hold you, and for you to pat him on his head and thank him for his effort.
But he can’t, not when Yuta is crossing his arms in front of his chest, waiting for an explanation. Yuta might not be directly involved, but now that he knows, he won’t accept a cliffhanger.
“Uhm, so where should I start…”
In contrast to his excellent stage presence, he is now stuttering, clearly awkward after engaging in eye contact with you. You are equally as nervous, fidgeting on your own fingers.
Yuta seems to notice the tension, breaking the awkward atmosphere, “I think you guys should talk.”
Everyone is in shock with his statement. Clearly giving him a ‘you just let your lover talk with her ex, though?’ kind of look. Yuta, on the other hand, finds his action to be very logical.
“I think you owe [Y/N] plenty of explanation, man. Probably something that’s only between you guys.”
You give him a look, asking him once more whether he’s sure with his decision. He gives you a gentle nod. “Just make sure you’re back for me.”
As much as Jaehyun is thankful to Yuta for giving his permission to talk to you, it doesn’t change the fact that his last sentence stings. The fact that Jaehyun is no longer the owner of your heart makes his heart feels heavy.
Eventually you and Jaehyun agree to his suggestion, making your way to the room next door.
“I, uhm,” He scratched his head.
“Since when, Jae?” You asked first, giving him the hint where he should start.
“Well, let’s sit down first.”
He then proceeds by telling you that it started after he met Johnny again. They were teammates back in high school but turned out the friendship actually didn’t start there. Johnny entered NCT Corp. due to the fact he was the agent that was stationed there, for a mission that was obvious; arresting the head of Jeong.
He approaches Jaehyun, but Jaehyun outsmarts him to figure out his identity. Johnny thought he failed his mission, with his target’s son finding out who he was, but what a twist of an event it was for Jaehyun to actually offer his hand to help.
“So you were living this life even when we were together?”
“[Y/N]...” He gently speaks, as if he was afraid to break a heart that is so dear to him, “It was never my intention to put you in danger. It was a miscalculation on my side to fall for you that night.”
“Miscalculation?” You emphasized his choice of word, ready to snap at him.
“The best mistake I’ve ever made.”
Your cheeks start to turn pink at his remark, makes you forcefully break the eye contact.
“Uhm,” You awkwardly converse back to him, “No wonder you always came home late. You were rarely at home before midnight.”
“Aren’t you pushing yourself?”
You were about to tug one of his wild strands of hair, before you back off and remembered that he’s no longer yours.
He lets out a disappointed smile.
“I met you and I was already in the middle of my mission.”
“Yet you’re still asking me out?”
“I wish I could blame it on the alcohol that night, but I know they just unleashed my deepest desire. I couldn’t forget you ever since that night where we met at the bar. Ever since we made the first eye contact.”
“But you’re keeping secrets from me, Jaehyun. And not just any secret, you being a COO is already a big step that I have to take. Then suddenly you are the next heir of an underground business, and the next thing I know you’re also a secret agent! I was living a pretty normal life, Jaehyun, then you suddenly came into the picture. How do you expect a person like me, dating a powerful man like you?”
“It’s just the consequences that I have to take eventually.”
“You could’ve just told me properly, you know, as a warning.”
His voice was saturated with regret, “I know it’s wrong, but I swear I would never purposely put you in danger. The reason why I didn’t tell you all of these was because the egoistic part of me didn’t want you to leave me out of fear. I was overly confident that I could overtake my father in no time. I thought I could keep it hidden and live my life peacefully with you, but I didn’t expect him to... meet you.”
Part of you felt guilty at the way he mentioned how you would leave when you discover the truth. On how accurate his predictions were.
“It’s just…”  He sighs, “I was this close, [Y/N]. Of course, Hyun Kyungmi was an opening I never knew would come, but even so I was confident I could arrest him on my own. And I have to do this. For Mark, and for my future, our future.”
The sentence ended with a pregnant pause, both of you unsure how the conversation should continue.
Was it always this awkward with Jaehyun?
“So…” He finally breaks the silence, “Yuta, I think he’s a great guy.”
Your eyes quiver at the way Jaehyun speaks Yuta’s name.
“He is, Jaehyun.” You carefully replied, “Though his jokes are borderline rude, it’s just his way to show his affection.”
Jaehyun dryly laughs, “He’s different from me, doesn’t he?”
His words stop you from going, prolonging the pause.
“But I’m glad he’s able to make you laugh like that.”
You saw how his gaze turns soft. It’s been forever since Jaehyun got a chance to look at you, and only you. It’s been a while he could have all of you for himself, for you guys talk in private like this.
He was intoxicated, in you. And he let you slipped away. He finally reached his goal, but he didn’t receive his prize.
“I miss you, [Y/N].”
You pressed your lips together. Air of melancholy filled the way you look at him.
“Jaehyun, I-”
“I know, I know. Just… let me get this out of my chest.”
He took a deep breath in, “Please let me this one go,”
He hugs you, and it feels like years since the last time you’ve felt Jaehyun’s warmth.
There was a momentary pause before you could react.
Is this okay?
Is this fair, for you, Jaehyun, most importantly, for Yuta?
But how could something that feels so right be so wrong?
So you hug his broad shoulder back, pulling him closer to you. Indulging his embrace that’s been missing from you.
“You know, I always thought by hiding it from you means I can have my own haven. Living a triple life is can be quite chaotic.”
You laughed, “I could imagine.”
He scoffed warmly, “I have to wear three different masks in each settings, and there are times where I feel like I could break into pieces.”
“But then I met you,” He carefully caressed your hair, making sure he didn’t ruin your hairstyle for the night. “Every time I woke up next to you, I just knew what I’ve been missing in my life. How our mind connected, the sound of your laughter, and the way you teach me how to love, and the way you loved me back.”
Jaehyun always feels perfect, but he is a human too. You can feel he’s trembling, fighting the waves of emotion, “For once, I could be just myself when I’m with you. Not COO Jaehyun, or the next heir for some underground business, nor a secret agent. I can just be just Jaehyun, and it was liberating.”
His words hit you hard. You never knew how much weight he has on his shoulder, and how he hold everything on his own. You never knew that Jaehyun leaned on you that much.
It’s not fair for him to tell him all of this now. Not when you thought you can live your life without him.
“The next morning after you left, I thought I just had a nightmare.” He continues, “That night was probably the longest night I ever experienced. I fell asleep, drunk. When I woke up and I couldn’t find you next to me, I thought you were in the kitchen. You always said you wanted to make me breakfast.
Jaehyun took another breath in, “Yet the only sight I saw was the mess from the night before and everything finally became a reality for me.”
He lets you go, to see that you’re about to cry. He forcefully smiles, trying his best not to show the already apparent sadness.
“Don’t cry. You’re kind, that’s why you pitied me.”
No, that’s not it, Jaehyun.
You wonder why it is so hard for you to tell him so, but words just won’t come out.
“I realized that I meet someone and we sometimes drift apart. Sometimes it seems to be too much and too vague, so I get anxious over it. Even so, the world moves on, and so are you.”
Are you?
“I’m happy that Yuta’s able to make you smile. Something that I took away from you that night. I’m sorry for hiding things from you, but please know everything that we shared, our relationship, is real. Probably the most genuine feelings that I ever felt.”
You took one of your fingers to wipe the corners of your eyes, preventing the tears to ruin your makeup.
“Jaehyun, please don’t be so hard on yourself. Now that I know every reason behind it, it would be stupid of me not to forgive you.”
He nods, and there goes another silence.
Are you OK leaving things this way? How could you figure out your heart when your mind is filled with numerous tangled threads?
Suddenly the room next to you became so loud, surprising both you and Jaehyun.
“Looks like he’s here,” Jaehyun stares at the wall, seeming to know the reason behind the fuss.
“Let’s go?” He offers his hand, shocked with his own action.
“Sorry,” He quickly shoved his hand to his pants pocket. “Old habits die hard.”
Oh, Jaehyun.
That, you too know very well.
Both of you walked to the first room to see Taeyong who’s busy crying while Mark continuously patted him, telling him to stop.
“There’s no way I could not cry, dumbass!” Taeyong pouts, receiving tissue from Johnny, “You’re finally free, Mark.”

A/N: Can you believe next week we’re going to have our last chapter? :o
So quick question, are you team Jaehyun or team Yuta? lol

Through the Veil of Time.
For the last three days, I couldn't get rid of the scene in my head, where the Doctor is in a deathly situation but his raggedy girl comes to rescue. I find the concept of "unlikely companionship" between the War Doctor and the Bad Wolf entity really intriguing (their dynamic was the highlight of the DOTD for me even though it was very different from that of Rose and any other Doctor (who are my ultimate OTP)). I would really love to see and explore some of the moments where these two weird immortals interact, so, basically, I tried to write one of such encounters (and hooray, my first ever piece of fan fiction).
Where am I going with this? Yeah, I guess I’d love to have a War Doctor/Bad Wolf girl audio drama spinoff.

The rare moments in time and space when the paths of the War Doctor and the Bad Wolf cross.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's almost dawn and, alas, he finds himself surrounded by yet another group of alien enemies. This time, however, they managed to have him completely cornered in the ruins of some who knows when abandoned building. He doesn't know who they are, but he certainly knows what they want to do. Well, at least to him. The Doctor sighs. He feels old, immensely tired of all the fighting he had to endure recently, and so completely done with yet another unnecessary distraction.
The leader of the gang takes his time to mock the Doctor, clearly enjoying the process and still riding the euphoria of how the tables have turned. In all honesty, however, all affected seem to lose their minds these days. The war, which Time Lords have started, doesn’t show mercy to anyone.
The alien points a gun at the Doctor and orders him to kneel while his gang is coming closer to enjoy the execution. These creatures, as the Doctor notices, are of humanoid form, tall and strong with their glistening blue skin and a single crooked horn peeking from behind their heads. He wonders for a fracture of a second what purpose that horn serves in the course of their evolution. The aliens, on the other hand, look quite desperate even now, and the Doctor knows that the main reason for their debauch is an enemy, whose name consists of only two words: Time Lords. And the Doctor just happens to be one of them. He obeys the order with a resigned expression, then looks at the angry lot and gives their lead one final warning to stop and go away while they still can.
The gang leader, blinded as he is by pure hatred, doesn’t listen, of course. No wonder, they rarely do. He makes a pompous speech about finding his purpose in liberating as many worlds as he can. After all, the whole universe is in chaos and about to perish anyway, so his kind can finally become the force the universe needs to set the things in the right way, which naturally means, in their own twisted way, and not without sacrifices. He briefly mentions the other nine galaxies that had to be wiped clean, and the Doctor slowly starts to lose his patience. In the end, the young man wonders how such a feeble old misunderstanding of a being can be a Time Lord, and asks, eventually, if the dusty old grandpa has some last words to say before he dies in this forgotten ugly place, all alone and without a single soul to mourn him. The grandpa in question perks up at that.
“Me?” the Doctor gives a chuckle and shakes his head in what looks like an amused disappointment. “Oh, dear boy," he rasps, "what in the whole universe made you think I’m alone?”
The boy is surely a man, and certainly not dear. He knows it, and that is why he switches off the safety on his weapon. His sneer fades as he pulls the trigger and fires a bullet aiming right into the Doctor’s head.
His eyes, however, grow even wider as said bullet turns out to be stuck in a time loop right in front of the Doctor’s forehead. After a moment of complete silence, the gang leader hears screams of his fellow mates and his eyes catch a moving silhouette a few feet behind the Doctor. Soon he can outline its details: the creature appears to be a rather short female, whose old saggy clothes are so torn they barely stick to her body. Her expression, though, tells a different story. It is tense and utterly angry, her wild eyes are ready to kill with their golden gleam.
The Doctor looks for a while at the blinking motion of a bullet that makes its rounds in desperate attempts to reach his head but gets immediately thrown back again, and then turns his attention back to the leader.
“Have you met my friend here?” the Doctor says in the most unperturbed voice imaginable.
The alien points the gun on his new target, but the raggedy creature splashes a wave of golden light that knocks down his whole gang at once. One by one they start dissipating into the piles of dust until the remnants of the last blue-skinned creature are floating down in the dimming light.
The Doctor gets up from his knees without turning to look at the woman.
“Thought you might show up,” he says casually then goes to the pile of dust that used to be a hostile living being just some moments ago, crouches over it, and scoops some grains with his fingers.
“You know, one of those days you might be the one to finally bite it,” the woman remarks, pointedly looking at the dust on the Doctor's fingers as she approaches him. She offhandedly gestures towards the bullet to release it from its little temporal trap, and it crashes into the nearest wall with a final bright sparkle.
The Doctor considers her words for a while, then looks at her and smiles, “Nah, young lady, I had it all perfectly under control.” He stands up and dusts his hands off.
"Oh, did you now?" she muses. The girl still looks quite menacing with her glowing eyes and messy hair, but the corners of her mouth turn slightly up.
"Oh, come off it, Bad Wolf girl," he pretends to chastise. "What would you do for the fun of it, if you didn't have to save this old man every once in a while?"
A part of him still feels like a prey she keeps playing with and expects her to make that deathly leap at any moment. The other part of him just loves her company.
"You are turning it into a full time job, Doctor", she counters back, smiling.
"Don't call me that," he pleads quietly, his expression earnest, "You know my name." He averts his gaze and starts looking at the morning sun peeking above the horizon.
"I've got to go," she says with a hint of sadness, "Next time, be a darling and try to stay out of trouble. It will be over soon, I promise." That's the only reassurance she can give, whatever "it" or "soon" really means.
The meditative silence that settles is a comforting moment to kick off the day.
"Suppose I am a darling," the Doctor continues after a while, holding his hands behind his back, and squinting his eyes, still stubbornly examining the sun, "would you visit me sometime when I am not at the brink of death?"
She ponders.
"Maybe, one day," she surprises him with her answer, "if you behave, that is."
Now he is ninety-seven percent certain she is mocking him. He shakes his head. After all, he concludes, someone finally finds him amusing for a change.
"I always wanted to go to Barcelona, you know. An interesting planet, they say," he still faces the sun. She nods, then abruptly stops, puzzled, then nods again.
"Dogs with no noses?" her question sounds more like a statement.
"Dogs with no noses," he genuinely laughs.
The Bad Wolf girl takes one of his hands and turns her gaze to the sun the Doctor is so preoccupied with. They stay like that for a while. Then, the cold wind blows and wakes the Doctor out of his reverie. He looks at his now empty hand and returns it to the other behind his back. The Time Lord takes a deep breath, throws one last glance at the rising sun, and turns around, ready to meet the day.

1 Samuel 18:5-19:24, John 8:31-59, Psalms 112:1-10, Proverbs 15:12-14
Today is the 16th day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian and it's good to be here with you as we move toward the back half of the week or move into the back half of the week. And, like we’ve been saying, we’re kind of simultaneously moving through the back half of the book of first Samuel, which is full of drama and intrigue and incredible lessons for our own lives as we watch the intertwining of King Saul and this new kid that's kind of come on the scene named David. And, so, we’ll pick up with the story where we left off yesterday. We’re reading from the Voice Translation this week. First Samuel chapter 18 verse 5 through 19 verse 24 today.
Commentary:
Okay. So, anytime you have like royalty or any kind of dignitaries coming through town, right, there's usually going to be some sort of crowd. Usually there’d be some sort of speech too, but there’s gonna be some sort of crowd and that's been going on throughout history. So, like, even today if royalty or a leader of a nation makes a visit then their arrivals gonna be covered on the news. Depending on how how connected they are to the people, there’ll be throngs of people, right? Like, if Britain's royalty comes to the United States or something and they’ve got the kids, there's gonna be all kinds of people. So, it was no different for King Saul when he returned victorious in battle. There was a celebration, there was pageantry, there were people, there was dancing, there were all kinds of people who wanted to get a glimpse of the king, but after David killed Goliath the song that the young women were singing at these…at this pageantry was that Saul had killed thousands but David had killed tens of thousands, which, of course, freaked Saul out. He already was fragile and very afraid of what people thought, right? We’ve watched that throughout the story of Saul and his coronation. So, he's freaked out about this and he ends up saying like, “what's left? what's left for David, but just to take the kingdom?” And, so, this made Saul very insecure and jealousy was planted in that fertile soil and then rage, and Saul tried to kill David with a spear. Of course, David now…we’re kind of watching him come up on the other side of this story and he's just trying to figure out what is going on because he's gone from complete obscurity to like this national hero and he keeps getting assigned tasks by the king, and he has access to the king and it's just like he's a lowly person. So, he’s just trying to figure out what's going on, but he has learned quickly how to protect himself, right, like how to stay alive. It’s not that he wasn't learning this is a shepherd, but now he's like, he has to become a warrior to survive. His life has changed dramatically, and Saul keeps hatching these plots to send David into battle, hoping that the someone else, and normally it’s the Philistines, will kill David and then it's just over and they can have national morning but that'll be the end of David. And he's trying to marry David into the family, like he's trying everything he can to control David without realizing that David's loyal. Like David’s not trying to do anything but to support the king, but Saul's paranoia and fear of man and jealousy and rage have absolutely got the best of him. And, so he keeps coming up with these plans to kill David. And, so he's like, “okay, you can marry my daughter, Michael. I just need the foreskins of 100 Philistines.” Okay. That is the strangest bride price ever. And David goes out and gets 200 foreskins and it’s so weird because did they circumcise all these guys like after the killed them and bring their foreskins back or did they just have a basket full of manhood's, which is probably more true to what happened but even still, like you come in before the king and you’ve got a basket full of manhood's, 200 of them. How to you…I mean...I don't know…how do you celebrate that victory? Is everybody in the palace dancing in circles around the basket? Like, who knows. It’s just a strange bride price but David pays it and the plan was that David would get killed trying to pay that bride price but instead he’s successful. And, so, Michal, who’s Saul's daughter, who loves David is married to David and now David is the king's son-in-law, but Saul still wants to kill him, and he is willing to kill him right in his own bed. So, we see just how intermeshed and entangled and messed up the relationship is between Saul and David. But we can find ourselves in both of these men's lives. I mean, there are times that we truly do shine and then there are times that we are completely disconnected from ourselves and all of our relationships and both Saul and David knew who the God of Israel was, both of these guys, even though they’re acting completely different to the circumstances. Both of them worshiped God, but Saul's insecurity and jealousy pulled him continually away from God while David fundamentally new that God was his only possible hope for survival. And we see those kinds of things coming out in the Psalms of David. So, the men's lives at this point, they are irreversibly intertwined, like there's no way to go back to how things used to be when the king didn't even know who David was. So, their lives are intertwined, but they are on comp completely different and divergent paths with God and we should pay close attention to where those two paths lead because we can find ourselves in both of these people's character. And, so, we can also take their story and find out where their paths go as we choose our path forward. All of our insecurities, right, all our comparison are only gonna continue to plague us and they’ll eventually cause chaos and destruction in our lives or we can realize as David is realizing, there is no way to survive, there is no hope outside of utter dependence on God. So, let's think as we move through this day. Which path am I even on because it's never too late to change course.
Prayer:
Father, we invite You into that. We can see the characteristics in these two people in our own lives. We can be both of these people with both of these kinds of characteristics on the same day. And, so, we recognize that, and we invite Your Holy Spirit to continue to illuminate through the story found in first Samuel of Saul and David which path we are on and to give us clarity on where these paths lead so that we understand where it is were going to end up if we stay on the path that we’re on. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello, this is Lori Music. What a great God we serve? Actually, I used to call myself the transplant from Chicago down to Heber Springs Arkansas and now I just usually say Lori Music from Heber Springs, but I just wanted to reach out. Nine years ago, a lovely young lady with the name of Constance called in and Constance I just want to let you know I am still praying for you. I am still believing for God’s favor for you and your marriage. I am pleading the blood of Jesus over you. I am praying over your atmosphere, that you have warring angels fighting against the principalities of the air to keep you safe from any harm that may come your way. So, Constance know that you’re loved, and I pray that you’re still listening to DAB. And Jerry from Duluth Minnesota, it was such a delight to hear from you again. I always enjoyed hearing from you when you’re on your paper route. So, thanks so much for calling back in. That really touched my soul. And to all you DABbers, keep calling in, such wonderful memories and we’re such a huge family and even though I don’t call in much know that I am praying for each and every one. So, God bless, have a blessed day.
Well, hello from beautiful Cincinnati Ohio this is Daniel Johnson Junior. It’s been a while since I called last. Been listening to the DAB for…actually it’s going on my 10th year been getting ready to begin my 10th year. I remember June 2009. But I just wanted to call in a couple of things. Tamika, I’m just praying for you. The situation that you’re finding yourself in is definitely…it’s definitely hard, but it’s definitely…you know…the thing that Brian has revealed to us as he’s gone through the Scriptures over the years with us is…and I hope that you understand…is that God is always at work to redeem us. You know, as long as we are alive, our story is not over. And I think that’s something…that is encouragement that I take on for myself constantly and I think that’s important for us to remember, that God is never done with us and he can work through any situation. As we’re reading even in the Scriptures how He’s worked through the situations that we’ve gone through already. And I wanted to encourage you with that. Also, Jerry from Duluth Minnesota, I heard your call on Tuesday, May the 14th and I just…you just brought back a sense of joy into my heart just to hear you calling again and I just wanted to say thanks for calling in and keeping up with DAB. And then guys if you could just pray for me. Two years ago, I had to say goodbye to my stepsister who was found dead, you know, and just…this is the anniversary of that. My stepmother, with it being Mother’s Day…its been a rough weekend. So, if you could just keep me in your prayers, my family, my sister-in-law, my wife’s sister, also was her birthday and she’s no longer here either. And, so, it’s just a bittersweet time for us. The grief has been kind of hard for me. So, guys I love you, God is so good all the time, all the time God is good. May God bless us and bless you. So, make it a great day.
Good morning DAB family, this is Patty from sunny Southern California. I have a horse sanctuary ministry. I’ve been listening since September of 2007 and I just love this program and I love the prayers afterwards and kind of getting to know people and I just heard Jerry the mail carrier call after being gone for such a long time. Welcome back! And he mentioned someone I think about often, Natasha from New York. What ever happened to you girl? Well out of all of you - Brian, Jill, Blind Tony, the prayer warriors - but I was just moved with Jerry’s call because it was an old familiar voice. Now I know I don’t call that often. I’m gonna try to do it a little more often. I love my DAB family. God bless you all.
Hello DAB family this is Abiding in Him. I want to pray for Mark Street and his son William. Heavenly Father we thank You for Your love and for Your faithfulness. We thank You for Your grace and Your mercy. And we thank You Lord that You wake us up every day with a purpose, a reason, and that You haven’t let a single one of us slip through Your hands. Heavenly Father we lift up William to You, __ loss, in his own mind, and in his own heart Lord, loss and depression heavenly Father, that he is not lost from You. Oh Lord, reach down into this Young man’s heart heavenly Father and grip it in a way that nothing else can. Not any of the addictions that try to capture our Youth or any of the entertainments that try to take their hearts away heavenly Father. Grip him in a way that only You can because You made his heat. And You know it. You know exactly what he needs to hear, when he needs to hear, and how he needs to hear it heavenly Father. And, so, Lord hear the prayer of his Father whose come requesting You and asked us to lift up our voices to You, heavenly Father for You to intervene. He is ultimately Your child Lord. Grab him, bring him home, open up his ears to good counsel, open up his mind to wisdom, open up his heart to love, and give his father patience. Know that You’re working in his heart and that You will bring that work to fruition. We thank You Lord for all that You’ve done and all that You will do on William’s life. We thank You Lord the testimony that You’re building in him. We give You glory because You’re a worthy God. You are all good all the time. We thank You Lord for Your grace and mercy in Jesus’ name.

Gallifrey Relisten: A Blind Eye
The end of Series 1! (I will admit I had to stop myself from immediately jumping into Lies because that’s when things really get going for me.) Some thoughts:
Mentions of/spoilers for: Neverland, Zagreus, Spirit, Insurgency, Enemy Lines, the Time War audios (but in a vague way).
Romana announces her name and title and then immediately follows that up with “I want no record of my being here” lol.
This episode is the closest we get to “everyone has to dress up fancy for an event” and it’s a shame we don’t get more of this! I would love more off-world and/or dress up episodes that are less......dire probably isn’t the right word because there’s some heavy things going on in this episode...maybe frantic? There is definitely a difference between the degree of tension in A Blind Eye and the degree of tension in the off-world episodes in Time War, for instance. (Also A Blind Eye has more banter.) I’m pretty sure it’s just A Blind Eye and Spirit that capture this sense of “we’re going to do something different for an episode” and I like it! (I feel like this is part of my ongoing push for a post-Enemy Lines, pre-Time War series of misc. CIA missions and shenanigans. Please someone just shove more side adventures into gaps in the timeline.)
The banter! The banter. (“You have your business face on. / You’re a transtemporal crook Arkadian, meeting you could never be a pleasure.”) 1. Arkadian is a supremely entertaining villain, and 2. he’s a tremendously good villain opposite Romana specifically, purely for snark and banter reasons.
I was never a big fan of the Sissy Pollard portrayal — the character’s personality feels too....exaggerated? Over the top? And not in an effective or interesting way.
Romana’s defense of Charley is actually quite sweet, given that they weren’t super friendly in Neverland/Zagreus.
Romana chastises Leela for careless talk, but uhhh if you wanted to keep things subtle and not reveal anything, maybe don’t have Leela suddenly grab Sissy?
“Madam, the Alps are in the other direction.” “Are they? Damn.” / “Be careful, you’ll break it!” “I’ll break you in a minute.” Truly, maximum levels of scathing Romana snark in this episode.
I have never seen anyone mention this, so I always assumed I’m not hearing it right, but....when the original!timeline train is about to crash into them....does Romana tell Narvin to fuck off?
Andred has a whole scene with no other Time Lord witnesses in which he could have told Leela the truth and yet.
“I am a Guard Commander of Gallifrey” apparently I never paid enough attention to what he actually said here because I think that was the first time I noticed that Andred gave his Chancellery Guard title, not his CIA title.
“Arkadian! You’ve met with that crook!?” Shoutout to Narvin for some A+ false indignation here.
I’m not sure there was a way to write a parallel between between real world Naziism and Leela’s fictional past without having it come off a bit as oversimplifying/cheapening the horrors of Nazi Germany. (But I’m white and raised Christian, so I’m also really not the person to be speaking in depth about the portrayal of Nazis in this episode.)
Does Arkadian know about Andred? I assume that he would just because he generally knows most things, but hmm it adds another layer.
Narvin is genuinely surprised when Romana gives in and agrees to leave lol.
Ms. Joy — it’s funny because we the listeners know that the one random character must be there for a reason, so it feels like the only reason the characters don’t know she’s suspicious is that they don’t know they’re in an audio drama episode and so she must be important to the plot.
Did Narvin really intend for Romana to go with “Torvald”? “At least he’s have been exposed?” Way to throw your President under the bus sir (although possibly he assumed that Torvald wouldn’t actually assassinate the President?)
“See, it is always a monster.” Wait, I take it back, Leela knows she’s in a Doctor Who (adjacent) episode.
“The only name in town where there’s temporal naughtiness to be done” — the Arkadian = Brax crack(?) theory is the most “I can’t unhear this” thing that’s happened to me since Narvin/Torvald. What is it with y’all and Series 1, I’m losing it.
...does Andred have a plan when he lowkey kidnaps Romana or is he just panicking? He is quite genuinely pleading with Romana to go along with him into the TARDIS and sounds genuinely desperate. But then he seems to regain control and starts more tactically trying to persuade Romana to work along side him without giving her any real answers. Although really, he must know that he’s very close to discovery — maybe he wants to resolve the past!Torvald situation first? Or maybe he’s not thinking that far ahead?
“I have no paws.” Awww K9.
“I think you’re a bad President. I think you’ve willfully sacrificed Gallifreyan influence upon the altar of your own increasingly cranky liberal agenda.” 1. “increasingly cranky liberal agenda” is such a specific insult wow, 2. I can’t tell how much of this is Andred still trying to be Torvald and how much he actually means this? The politics of this incarnation of Andred were always a bit fuzzy to me, even in series 2.
Also. Any conversation between Romana and Andred has a whole weird vibe on relisten when you know about the uhhh future murdering that’s going to happen.
I do love a Dramatic Reveal, and this one is incredibly dramatic.
....does the train crash? Does the train not crash? I’ve always been a bit confused about what happens in that moment — I assume Romana doesn’t actually plan on the train hitting the TARDIS, and we hear the TARDIS dematerialize so I think the train is fine? But it’s a weirdly ambiguous sound/end of scene.
“I can tell you are lying. It’s when your lips move.” Okay Leela snarking at Arkadian is also very good.
It is genuinely so interesting how connected this plot is to Neverland/Zagreus — if I had to pick one “you should listen to this audio before Gallifrey” I'd go for the Apocalypse Element because of the enormous ripples it casts in terms of Romana’s characterization (and also it’s more stand alone), but I imagine this episode would be particularly confusing without Neverland/Zagreus? (Would be curious to hear people’s experiences.)
“I never lie!” Romana, that’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told.
The narration of what happened to Andred by Andred and Romana is um. It’s a little bit obviously an info dump for the listener, but I’m not sure it’s the best way for Leela to find out? I mean, hearing the context and explanation probably was a better idea than just “oh btw I’m Andred”.....possibly this felt weird to me because of the acting? It’s very emotionally detached, very “so this is what happened” — Andred manages some emotion afterwards when he’s pleading with Leela but uh. He could have sounded more apologetic here.
Leela. Leela. “You have watched me suffer and worn my enemy’s clothes?” / “The man that I loved is dead.” Goddddd I want to give her a hug so much ughhhhh. Leela just goes through so many awful things throughout....all of Gallifrey actually, and she still remains such a good person with such a genuinely caring heart......give her a break please.
“I think the only person who’d actually benefit from a temporal war would be a...dealer in arms? A trader in secrets? A fixer and a fiddler. A dishonest broker with no scruples and no shame.” / “An interesting theory Madam. Prove it.” I just really like the delivery of this bit. Although: I realize there were several things going on at this point, but really, they just let Arkadian walk away at the end?
And thus ends Series 1. It has some highs and lows but it honestly ranks near the bottom on my constantly-in-flux list of favorite-to-least favorite Gallifrey series. (Weapon of Choice is probably the only episode I actively look forward to relistening to?) I said in my Weapon of Choice post that Series 1 was a nice “palate cleanser” after Apocalypse Element and the Charley arc through Zagreus, and that was true for the first time listening, but I think some of those same attributes mean I’m kinda meh about relistening to it. It just doesn’t hold my interest quite as much as many of the other series. (Series 2 though....👀)
EDIT: I realized I forgot to tell my personal story of my first time listening to the Andred reveal, and I wanted to have some record of that, even if I don’t quite remember the specifics of my reaction. In general, my first listen of Gallifrey was shaped by knowing a lot of major spoilers, which is what happens when you spent a lot of time lurking on Tumblr blogs in advance of listening to the series. (It actually led to a lot of super fascinating experiences of “well I know X happens, but I don’t know how or why” and being really curious to find out how X played out.)
So I knew something about Andred and Torvald going in, and I think I should have known that it was simply Torvald = Andred, but somehow I got it in my head that oh no, no it’s weirder and more complicated than that. But of course there are a lot of hints throughout series 1 that Torvald is Andred, so the first listen was this cycle of me going “I think maybe Torvald is just Andred? Nah, it’s going to be more convoluted than that. But no really, it makes sense that Torvald is Andred...” etc. etc. So it was a weird experience of knowing pretty early on that Torvald might be Andred, but still not being quite sure until the end of series one. The other bit of this is that I can’t remember at what point I knew that Andred died (and how) — I think I may have known he died before I listening to Gallifrey (or at the very least I knew that he was written out in some way or another earlier on), so that may have also confused me further re: the series one question of: what actually happened to Andred? All around, an odd experience of “I was spoiled...but somehow I still wasn’t sure what was going on” and I wasn’t surprised per se but it was still a reveal.

Even after finishing your education you continue to live apart from the elite, but a visit home creates an unexpected disaster. You are suddenly roped into a darker world, and who better to be your guide than the infamous gang known as BTS.
Chapter 15 -  Display of Dominance
POV (Y/N)
The day of, preparations are running smoothly. You and JK are setting up a secure line that will handle possible interference from other radios, while V beefs up the security at the manor and repairs your father’s watch for you to wear.
You eye the radios with envy. Jk notices, but continues with his work. At 6 pm Suga comes to fetch JK and V. JK grasps you hand before leaving slipping an earpiece into your palm, giving you a small smile as he leaves.
Suga closes the door behind JK leaving the two of you alone. “I know you’ve been hiding something. Should we be expecting your company tonight despite RM’s instructions?”
You panic wondering if he had told Namjoon of his suspicions, “Suga I don’t plan on going against his orders.”
“So you have no intention of sneaking out tonight?”
“What would you do... If you were in my position?”
“I’d tell him to go fuck himself.”
You smile treading carefully upon your words. “Unless RM admits his mistake I have no plans to attend.”
Suga’s eyes narrow noticing the thought you had put into your statement, but he doesn’t push any further. Instead he pulls out a small handgun with a holster from inside his jacket “While you’re alone, I want you to have this. V has set up the panic room but a little extra protection couldn’t hurt. You’ll be okay to use it if necessary?”
You nod hoping that the ceasefire would hold strong.
...
You take your laptop downstairs so you can hold your video conference in the sitting room right next to the foyer.  Seeing all of them ready to leave in high fashion suites was unexpected.
“50% of the accords is just showboating. We have to remind them the wealth we’re bringing to the table,” V explains.
There is still a part of you expecting Namjoon to change his mind. A part of you that expects him to pull you out into the SUV and accompany them. You hate the thought of having to resort to your underhanded tactics.
Half of the team is still upset, the other half ashamed, Namjoon being the only outlier who stands strong. He’s also the last to exit, lingering after the rest of the members have left. You notice your father’s ring on the hand holding the door. It’s the first time he’s worn it since the day you had given it up.
“You can still change your mind Namjoon.” You nod the the heirloom upon his finger.  “Please don’t cut me out like he did. I can’t go through that again.” You plead with him, hoping that he would understand the overwhelming feeling of worthlessness he has added to your fear of being alone.
“I know it may seem weak of me to keep you here, but I can’t take you with me. I won’t be able to concentrate knowing that I have just put you in harms way. I am just trying to do what’s best for my team. That includes you.” With that he shuts the door behind him.
...
You have 30 minutes to prepare before your call. You had not anticipated the dress code of the meeting quickly running back to your room to change. Taking out one of the dresses from Gucci that Hope had inquired about.  A bright red gown form fitting down to the floor. The sleeves and neckline are what truly makes it unique with the lace giving it the appearance of flames crawling up your arms to your collar. You tuck your mother’s pendant into your dress, keeping it close, but perhaps not as close as Suga’s useful gift which you’ve just strapped to the inside of your thigh.
Upon looking in the mirror you  find your scarred shoulder fully on display. You consider trying to find a method to cover it, but this crowd is far different than your elite connections. They shouldn’t see a scar as a weakness but as a strength.
Before returning to your computer, you grab a suit jacket to cover the top half of the dress. Not wishing to appear as if you are sidestepping this meeting for another event. You ready yourself at the desk tucking your ear piece in.
...
You listen as they step out into the lot of the warehouse with the slamming of car doors.
A notification pops up on your computer, reading ...Incoming call: Mr. Shin... You answer pulling the video feed up on the screen.
“Thank you, for meeting with me Miss Park.”
“The pleasure is all mine Mr. Shin.” You get straight to the point with no time to waste. “After reviewing your needs I can see that you’ll need a large amount of assistance to continue running.”
“That is correct.”
“In that case I wish to set you up directly with one of our donors who as expressed an interest in your program. I feel that this might be a better fit, not only will you get the funding you require  but they will be able to address any other needs you have in a timely manner.”
“That would be ideal.”
“If I may, I would like to introduce Mr. Dae.” Dae joined the conversation with a simple greeting a mere second after you clicked adding his account to the call. “He is a bank manager that has reached out to me with the hopes of increasing the company’s philanthropy efforts. I’m sure you two gentleman have much to discuss. I don’t wish to get in your way.”
“Thank  you again, Miss Park.”
“Yes, thank you for this opportunity.” You detect a bit of cynicism in Dae’s voice, so you pull him over the coals one last time before logging off.
“Mr. Shin if anything in this arrangement does not work for your program, you have my office’s number.  Don’t hesitate to reach out, I will happily find a replacement if necessary...”
You end the call just in time to hear your team being greeted, leaving you to assume they had entered the warehouse. Namjoon issues directions, “Split up like we discussed earlier, Hope and V, Jimin and Jin, JK you’re with me.  Suga wait here, we’ll use this as a rendezvous point. Let’s try to keep it level till midnight”
You pull out your phone finding Wonho in your contact list and sending a brief message.
...Fancy giving me a lift?...
...I thought you would never ask...
You throw your blazer aside before exiting the manor.
Their van pulls up in front just as you make it to the gate. Minhyuk opens the sliding door. “I can see why they left you behind, you’re far to distracting.”
You jump into the back. “I’ll take that as a complement.”
“We are going to get in such shit for this,” Shownu sighs.
“Your agreement with RM, he expects a full report every time you meet right?”
“Yeah.”
“Well it’s convenient then that I didn’t tell you of my plans before. You won’t see him again until we’re already there. You aren’t breaking any rules.”
Kihyun shakes his head and smiles.
JK had given them access to the com-line, allowing everyone to listen on the drive over. The negotiations don’t seem to be going well.
You can hear several people ask of your whereabouts. Your team’s reply is always the same.
“She is maintaining her cover at a meeting for her families foundation.”
There are several scoffs, some people coming back with insults of an elitist nature while others imply that you’re too scared to face them.
As you reach the warehouse things go from bad to worse. You hear Namjoon’s voice on the line. “We’re almost dead in the water, even VIXX is holding out saying that the wish to meet Fire before entering into a full agreement.”
You really didn’t want to have to do this, but how else would you gain the upper hand for your team. “IM I need you to program this call to go out to this number 15 minutes after we go in.” You hand him a slip of paper and a flash drive with an altered audio file.
“Are you fucking crazy? This could get us killed!” He passes the info over to Kihyun and Wonho for them to take a look.
“You have to trust me, I have a plan. Even if I go in there they still might not take me seriously.”
As if on cue you hear over the radio someone suggesting to Hope if you’re “free” for the evening he would consider making a deal. Hope’s response brings a chuckle to your lips, “You know what, I’ll ask her. Come find me after 12 and I’ll give you her response.”
Everyone looks to Kihyun for the final verdict who reluctantly agrees. “All right we’ll do it... what do you need from us?
“A clear path and provide cover while I deal with the situation.”
...
As the clock hits 8 pm Shownu opens the door to exit the van.
“No wait, I can’t go in yet.”
“Why not.”
“I made a promise to someone.”
Your can hear the members of you team bickering inside.
“We’re fucked...”
“When is Monsta X getting here?”
“They should be here by now.”
“Why aren’t they answering, JK you gave them access to the line right?”
Suga’s voice rings out clearly amidst the others. “Just say it RM, this would have gone better if Fire was here.”
“What good will that do us now?”
“Just admit your fucking mistake!” Suga seethes.
“Okay, you’re right, I shouldn’t have kept her out of this. I misjudged the situation.”
“Thank you Suga,” You whisper to yourself, before turning back to Shownu. “Right, now we can go.”
Inserting the earpiece back in you exit the van first. Wonho escorts you to the door, sporting a half smile as he looks down at you. You grip his arm tightly mentally preparing yourself to meet some of the most wanted in Seoul. Shownu speaks to the man guarding the door through the hatch.
Every head turned the second you entered the building. With your chin up you evaluate the space. The old owner had made good progress with the renovations, but judging from the broken windows and age of discarded objects he had given up several years ago. There are seats and tables everywhere with drinks on hand. If you hadn’t have known what you were walking into, you might have thought you were in for a simple night out at a dingy rundown bar.
The doorman holds out an empty hand to you. “Gun.” It’s not a request but a demand.
You scoff at the idea of leaving yourself unarmed in a place like this, but when Monsta X starts pulling out their own, you understand that it’s non negotiable. That this must be their way of implementing the cease fire on site. You scan the room questioning how effective it is, almost certain that there must be concealed guns and knives hiding in suit jackets of the other attendees. Not wanting to get caught with yours though, you reluctantly comply. Opening your dress from the side you expose your leg pulling out the gun that Suga had given you.
“You’ll get it back when you leave.” Wonho whispers in your ear try to ease your distress as you relinquish the firearm.
You find Suga amongst the crowd first. Sitting alone in a booth taking a sip of beer as he gazes upon you with a smirk on his face. He lifts a finger pointing up to the level above you. Looking down over the railing is Namjoon caught between shock and anger. You smile back at him tilting your head, watching his brow furrow even more.
You take your time approaching Suga giving some of the other members a chance to collect around the table first.
“Sorry I’m late, luckily I was able to hitch a ride.”
A few groups started to move into earshot, you hate the haughty tone you’ve set for yourself, but if they wanted a fearless patron on their level that’s what you would show them.
“What about the meeting?” V asks.
“I convinced one of the bank managers that he should pledge his own money or I would take mine from them. They’re sorting out the business matters now, I figured I would leave the boring matters to them.”
V smiles at the prospect of using the banker.
“I’ve asked Monsta X to join us for the night, I figured we could discuss a few matters.” The observers around you drink in the act.
J-Hope guides you into a booth seat wedging you between himself and Jin. He whispers in you ear, “This is a nice surprise.” His fingers trail the lace of you dress on the back of your shoulder.
“Just think, you might have missed this sight had I not come.” You snap back playfully.
Namjoon approaches the table last taking the seat directly across from you with a dark expression. “The meeting with Shin?”
“Done.”
He nods back sternly, you know he’s holding himself back unable to call you out in front of potential allies. You take another glance around focusing this time on the warehouse’s occupants, spotting EXO and GOT7 sitting together from across the room. You freeze in anger. As their members speak among themselves, Chanyeol’s eyes meet yours.
You phone vibrates in your clutch. You pull it out perplexed when you see no one else at the table with their phone out.
...I’ve been looking for you everywhere, you haven’t been out with the others...
...Is this why he won’t let you out to play Angel?...
He sends a suggestive photo of you pulling your gun out from your dress.
...Does he like to keep you locked away for himself? I guess we aren’t so different in that regard...
You take a sharp inhale attempting to remain calm, knowing he’s watching your reaction. “JK I think you might have forgotten to change something. Henry had my number didn’t he?”
He whispers a quiet swear. Namjoons eyes widen for a fraction of a second before his jaw clenches, V places a hand on his shoulder to remind him of his own orders. “Keep it together.”
Jin disregards V, pulling your phone away from you and ripping out the sim card after reading the messages.
With his anger on display he’s playing right into Chanyeol's hand. You tilt Jin’s head towards you with a finger under his jaw moving closer you whisper into his ear. “Don’t let him get to you, just play along. Hold on to what he can’t.” With that you give him a lingering kiss to the edge of his mouth. Jin smiles back at you with a smirk placing an arm around your waist.
You look over wishing to gauge Chanyeol's reaction to your display but the path between you becomes blocked. Another exceptionally tall gang moves in your direction, this had to be VIXX. Jin pulls his arm back as they greet you.
“Park?”
“Call me Fire.”
“We were worried that you wouldn’t be able to make an appearance tonight.”
“I had the same worry.”
“We were in talks with RM before, but we wanted to be sure of your true motives before agreeing.”
Before you can respond you hear the whistle of several police sirens approaching. You heart stops... Why are there so many?... Your steps replay in your mind. It was a simple trespassing call that you had recorded, an anonymous tip to get them to make an appearance.
You had given it to IM to program so you would not be seen making a call just before they arrive, but from the sounds of it  the police had sent at least a dozen responders. This was not part of the plan.
The room freezes for a moment each group unsure of how to proceed. Everyone makes a break for the back, with the exception of Monsta X. With a nod from Wonho they continue to act on your orders despite the unexpected aggressive response by the police.
Jin slides you out of the booth but Namjoon grabs you by the upper arm in an attempt to guide you deeper into the warehouse. You pull away, with the intent of moving in the opposite direction. The longer you wait to head them off the more danger you are putting your team in.
He grabs your waist and tries to pull you along again. “(Y/N) you have to move away. This is exactly why I didn’t want you to come, what will happen if your caught among this crowd?”
“Nothing, because no one is going to be arrested...” You hiss back to him trying to keep the conversation between you two.
His eyes widen, “You didn’t...”
“I made a mistake, there was far more of a reaction than I intended. Get the others out and let me handle this.”
He doesn’t move.
“Please just trust me.”
He slowly lets go of you but remains by your side giving orders to the others. “Jin you're with us. Suga and Hope take the others back, get them out if this goes south.”
“I would rather stay.” Suga retorts.
“Suga please...” You beg. He locks eyes with you before turning away as directed.
Loud knocks echo through the building as Namjoon takes you to the door. You notice several other groups attempting to fade away into the darkness. The doorman had been pushed out of the way by Shownu, with the guns restored to their grasp the rest of Monsta X takes posts nearby. Making it look like the were ready to shut down the police if necessary.
With a deep breath and insuring the view behind you was clear. you open the door to several officers heavily geared up. Namjoon remains concealed behind the door with Jin at your other side to assist with the police. You concentrate on defusing the situation as quickly as possible. “Officers what can I help you with?”
They look taken aback by you and Jin’s appearance. “We’ve received a report of possible trespassing, do you have permission to be here?”
“Ah I see, it’s all a misunderstanding.” You pull the deed out of your clutch. “I purchased this lot just recently. We have plans to re-purpose the building. I figured it would be fun to have my investors over for a bit of a celebration before we start the work. Forgive them for not coming to greet you too they are evaluating the other rooms.” You take a pause while they examine the paperwork. “I’m sorry you had to drive all the way out here for a call like this, and so many of you too.”
He hands back the paper with a smile. “We just wanted to make sure. Would you mind if we took a look around? This area can get a little dodgy at night.”
You remain calm knowing the disaster that would strike if they gained access, “I will have to decline your request, unless you have a warrant that is.” You chuckle trying to keep things light. “Sorry, some of my fellow investors are quite private and would not appreciate the intrustion. But thank you for concern.”
“Sorry for the interruption then. Everything seems to be in order, we’ll head out.”
You let out a sigh and they pull away. Namjoon whispers for the team over the mic to return to the table.
You wait at the front until ever car leaves before stepping back to the booth. your team has once again occupied and taking a seat, with Monsta X taking the next table over. Jin sits down beside you awestruck. Namjoon takes your other side gripping your wrist beneath the table. You find it difficult to tell if he is clinging to you out of anger or worry.
The rest of the attendees slowly crept back out with the same look on their faces as Jin. You look over to where EXO and GOT7 were seated only to find the space vacant. You can only assume they slipped out the second they heard sirens. Keeping Chanyeol’s affiliation to EXO from the police was clearly a higher priority over gaining more allies.
VIXX approached once again. “Gentleman, we are clear to continue if you wish?” You offer with a small grin.
There’s a silent nod from their leader N.
“You asked before what my motives are. I simply want to look after my people and take revenge on those who took something from us. But in order to do that we need to increase our numbers.
N responds positively, “RM if the deal is on the table, I think we can make this work.”
...
Seventeen, iKon, and Pentagon would also sign on before the end of the night. They’re all relatively fresh according to J-Hope, but numerous in members.
You leave shortly before midnight, everyone retreating before the end of the ceasefire. Saying goodbye to Monsta X at their van before you go your separate ways.
“Thank you for going against your better judgement.”
“Your full of surprises, working with you should be interesting.” Kihyun comments
Wonho waves you off with a reluctant look, “We’ll see you soon.”
...
It’s a loud car ride home. The younger boys celebrating the successful end of the accords. Namjoon keeps glancing over to you as you sit on the other side of Suga.
As you pull into the manor’s garage Namjoon calls out. “Fire I need to talk to you...privately.”
“Come on RM, no more work tonight. We should celebrate.” V whines.
“You guys go ahead and get started, we’ll join you later.” Namjoon answers.
He pulls you into his office and shuts the door behind. Leaving you by the door he marches away running his hands through his hair and shaking his head. When he turns back to you it’s with overwhelming anger. “What the hell were you thinking?”
“What do you mean what was I thinking? I saved our chances by showing up!”
“That’s not what I’m talking about. Would you care to inform me why you thought it would be a good idea to call the police?”
“I had to prove myself to them. Those people don’t fear each other as they do losing their freedom behind bars, or they wouldn’t hold something like this. If they could see me in control of what they feared most maybe I could gain their trust.” You take a breath hoping that your motives behind the idea would finally dawn on him. “I made an anonymous trespassing call. There shouldn’t have been that many responders, I was planning on handling it with Monsta X without getting you involved.”
“People could have died tonight, you put your whole team in danger.”
“No! I told you to leave, you insisted on staying with Jin.”
He continues disregarding your correction, while taking a step towards you. “Not to mention the possibility of blowing our cover. We have worked hard to stay off the police’s radar and out of their books. If someone had reacted impulsively, if one of the officers was killed... having their blood on our hands would have changed that.”
You remain silent as he continues advancing upon you, making his point known.
“What if another gang found out you had called them? Both us and Monsta X wouldn’t have been able to keep all of them away from you, we wouldn’t have been able to save you from their onslaught.” He’s close enough for you to feel his breath on your skin. “You plan for the best outcome knowing that the worst is always a possibility. If you’re not willing to make that sacrifice for the goal then you change the plan. I’m not willing to sacrifice your life for the sake of your prestige.”
“Do you think I like working behind your back? I know I fucked up, but so did you. If you had included me I wouldn’t have had to resort to my own plans.  You have to understand if you continue to try to bench me from this I will not hesitate to work alone. This is what you wanted me to do Namjoon, in the beginning this is what you wanted. What changed?”
“Your motives changed. I heard you the other night speaking to Wonho. You risked your life for us not the goal. Do you know what your father said to me when I spoke to him after meeting you in Busan? When I expressed that we should tell you the truth? He was worried that you would fall in too fast too quickly. He was right, I’m trying to fix that now. We’re not worth you risking your life. I’m trying to save you from yourself. So please, just let me protect you.” There’s a soft sigh along with his last words. He locks his eyes with yours as if looking for you to give in.
“You honestly think that? How can you expect me to place your lives any lower than my own? You saw how I lived before I came here, how alone I was. I can’t risk losing you, I won’t go back to that life without you. I won’t watch from the sidelines as you put yourself in danger for my sake. But don’t expect me to believe that you would let me risk more for the goal. You said it yourself, you wouldn’t be able to concentrate knowing I would be in danger. It’s not just my motives that have changed Namjoon.”
You turn towards the door again thinking that the conversation is over. As you reach out grab the handle Namjoon takes your hand and turns you around. Your back is pressed to the door as he leans against you. His other hand rests on your jaw tilting your head up with his thumb resting at the corner of your mouth.
“You’re right, I hate the thought of you walking into the line of fire. But if it had been anyone else who pulled that stunt I would have to cast them out from the team. You’re lucky I’m so fucking selfish, that I can’t seem to let you go. I would do anything to prevent you from walking out that door. ”
You allow your free hand to rest on his chest, you look down fingering one of his shirt buttons before looking back up to his eyes. “Then give me back my reason to stay. I’m tired of fighting you Namjoon.” You realize how much you had missed this, having him hold you close, feeling his touch on your skin.
You grab his shirt pulling him down to meet you. You must have taken him by surprise as both his hands slam against the wood on either side of your head to keep his balance. He presses further against you, a subtle groan escapes him. As you release his shirt he lifts you up. Carrying you in his arms he places you on the edge of his desk. His full lips move to your neck, giving you the occasional nip against your skin. With each bite you gasp, his lips pull tight, smiling at you reaction to him. His hands trail up your thigh, one of them finding its way beneath the fabric. Locating the holster with the gun. “You have a lot of explaining to do wearing something like this.” He sets your gun to the side but comes back to grip to the strap on your leg pushing it up just a little higher on your thigh.
You reach for his suit jacket pulling it off before your fingers move to unbuttoning his shirt.
“The dress or the gun?” You tease, as he slowly unlatches the leather strap.
Instead of letting it fall to the floor he pulls it tighter across your sensitive skin, causing you to yelp as he gives you his answer. “Both.”
He continues to hold on as his nips your skin harshly, giving you no reprieve. “Even before you got there, I had men inquiring for you, wanting to see if they could take a turn with you. Knowing you were safe back home was the only thing that kept me from reacting. I should have strapped you to the fucking bed to keep you here.” He growls.
“I find it hard to believe that you would leave me like that.” You whisper back.
“No you’re right. I would have brought you to the verge coming and then finished you when I return. Since that’s exactly what you did to me tonight.” The tips of his fingers brush the back of your neck searching for the zipper and dragging it down. “The second you stepped in you had me on the edge. I was forced to keep to myself, bound by those watching, when all I wanted to do was rip off this fucking dress and take you in front of them.
His hands roll over your shoulders as he exposes your skin. The lace dress falls as you stand for a moment letting it slip to the floor, before returning to your seat on the desk.  He takes off his pants in a swift motion and throws them down next to you.
His index finger tips the cup of your bra allowing him to trail kissed down to your breast. Giving him a moan of pleasure, you urge him to continue, he slowly unfixes the clasp releasing you from it. His warm hands softly roam your chest dragging his fingers back and forth. His mouth assists by giving you the occasional flick of his tongue. While he is distracted you remove your now damp underwear, packing it in the pocket of his pants as a surprise for later.
He reaches down. Letting out a gasp when he finds that you have removed your final piece of clothing.  His fingers tease between your wet folds. “You have no idea how much I wanted to do this as I sat beside you.” His other hand returns to your chin tilting your face up to him . “Having them watch as you react to my touch. Having my fingers coated with you as I shook the hands of others.”
You give him a smirk back playing along, but your face begins to heat with thought of such an act, “Then why didn’t you?”
He reaches deeper inside you but only for a moment, just long enough to extract a moan from your lips. “I told you, I’m selfish. Seeing you like this, completely undone, that’s my privilege.”
He brings his index, now slick from you, to his mouth for a taste. Groaning as he samples you. “Sweeter than sweet.” He whispers quietly with a smirk. He kneels in front of you. As if hungering for more he parts your lower lips with his tongue lapping at your juices. With every brush of his tongue he sends jolts through you. Teasing with long and short strokes.
Despite his boldness you could still feel his fingers tremble as they trail across your thighs. Even now he was holding back, protecting you from his full strength and demand. Your fingers trail along his jaw tilting his head up. He rises back up to meet you, capturing you lips once more as he release himself from his boxers.
“Are you ready for me baby?” Hearing the word baby roll off his tongue is all the encouragement you need to slide forward on the desk to meet him, but his hands hold your hips in place. “Tell me what you want first.”
“You... fuck I want you inside me.” You trail your fingers along his shaft teasing him. He lets out a low growl moving himself closer. You continue to drive your point across as you direct him further, “No need to be gentle. I promise I won’t break.”
A lusting groan breaks from him as his first thrust glides in filling you. His power enough to push you further on the desk, He counteracts his force with one hand gripping your hips the other tugging on the holster he left strapped to you. With every push he leaves you gasping, your moans rising in volume as he plunges deeper.
...
POV ???
Pulling up the camera feed to RM’s office was a mistake. It had been a long night. I didn’t want to wait if you and RM where going to continue fighting for hours. I just wanted to see if you were starting to come to a resolution. I had turned down my phone volume so the other members around me wouldn’t hear your spat. But now, staring at the screen I realize they would have heard something far different.
The camera is placed on the wall overlooking the front of the desk. RM’s back is to the shot, but you, you are in clear view of the lens. I watch as your dress falls to the floor... I watch as he softly kisses your chest drawing it to his mouth... I watch as you carefully slip your underwear into his pocket. I know this is wrong but I can’t tear my eyes away.
I  place my hand into my pocket to conceal my growing erection. But it’s only made worse when I see him push his fingers inside of you. The silence is killing me, I desperately wish to hear the moans coming from your lips. I dim the screen and pause the footage carefully getting up. I tell the others to continue on without me and inform them of my destination.
I can’t get there fast enough. Once alone I rewind and turn on the audio. Your sinful sounds claim me through the speaker, they alone would be enough to satisfy my need for you. I lick my lips, as RM sucks on his fingers dripping with your wetness. Letting out a groan myself as I watch him go down on you. My craving for you grows stronger, making me to criticize his simple taste of you. Oh how I would drink from you. I can only imagine what it would be like to draw my tongue across your slit as my mouth encases your folds. I picture you bucking against my caresses with pleasure, holding you in place I would roam deeper with my tongue than he ever could.
I growl with approval when I hear the vulgarity of your words. Here you are begging him for more, when I’m ready to give everything to you in that moment, my body, heart and soul... they’re all yours.
I meet my complete downfall when I see your face as he enters you. I unbuckle my pants reaching in to grip myself. Every whimper from you causes me to pulse against my hand. I bite my lip as I watch your nails dig into his back, you leave marks that I can only envy. As he carries you closer to your climax, I observe a blush creep onto your skin. I disregard his name falling between your moans. Knowing my own would sound so much sweeter coming from your lips.
You shudder one last time as you cry out in ecstasy. Collapsing back on to the desk after he too releases.
I pause the footage berating myself for what I had just witnessed. But the swell in my hand is still prominent, my disgust is not enough to prevent me from scanning the footage back. I close my eyes, roll my head back and continue to take pleasure from your passionate voice. The voice that burns me from the inside.
..........
AN: Welp I think that’s my best cliff hanger to date... so you can either live in despair for a week or two not knowing who the POV belongs to... or you can play my horrible little game of finding the clues and hints I (in true LeMonJoonAh fashion) left for you. I would love to hear your guesses.
Also, side note this was the first smut scene(s) I’ve ever written, thoughts and feedback are welcome!

Exodus 30:11-31:18, Matthew 26:47-68, Psalms 32:1-11, Proverbs 8:27-32
Today is the 10th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it's wonderful to be here with you as we move into this workweek. We’ll also be moving through the center of the month in this week and there’ll be some international travel going on before this week is out. And, so I'll talk about that in a little but let's gather, let's do what we've come here to do, and allow God's word to speak into our lives today. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. We’re in the book of Exodus and, you know, there’s been all this flurry of activity that's been going on since the beginning of the year and the children of Israel have found themselves now in the desert in the wilderness at the mountain of God at Mount Sinai and God's giving instructions, forming and shaping the culture of His people. So, we’ll continue that journey. Exodus chapter 30 verse 11 to 31 verse 18 today.
Commentary:
Alright. So, has anybody been bored with the reading that we’re doing in the Old Testament over the…over the weekend or the last few days? All these instructions - use this kind of clasp, make it this long, use this kind of basin, make this kind of thing with gold molding. It's easy enough on a couple of levels to just get lost in kind of check out. I assure you it won't be for long. But let's consider a couple of things. Number one, the drama of the scene that is happening. There is over a million people surrounding a mountain out in the Sinai Peninsula – deep, deep desert, complete wasteland. Fire and a thick smoke is coming to down on the mountain and lightning. And people have heard the voice of God and its freaked everybody out. Now Moses is at the top of the mountain receiving these instructions from God. And, so, we spent the last few days receiving these instructions from God, what He wants done when Moses goes down the mountain and begins to form the infrastructure of a complete culture. So, what has happened for us is that we've moved from a narrative story into an instruction manual. So, like, you know, raise your hand if you like, you come home from a long day at work, you're settling in on the couch, you’ve decided not to watch TV or anything tonight, you’re just gonna have some quiet time and you’re gonna read. And, so, you go scouring through your house trying to find as many instruction manuals as you can find, right? You’re like, I really should…I really probably should know how the hot water heater works in its entirety. I…I really should know this HVA system better and here's the manual or probably even better yet, it's Christmas time and you have children and you have boxes full of presents of things that have to be put together. Do you just revel in that instruction manual? Probably not. Probably more than half of us don't even read that manual. We just dig in and see if we can figure it out, but invariably, we probably have to consult the manual because we put it together backwards. God is telling Moses how He wants things to be put together. And once He does we’ll get back to the story, which is right in front of us.
In the book of Matthew Jesus has been arrested and it…He's being questioned by the high priest. Pretty weird when you think about it - the high priest of God questioning the most-high God. In the end of the people decide to convict Jesus of blasphemy. So, basically that means that…that they viewed what Jesus said, specifically that in the future “they would see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.” They considered that to be utter contempt for the glory and holiness of God, that He was profaning God which was a capital offense for them, which is what they were looking for, exactly what they were after, some way to get rid of Jesus. And, so, we’ll continue this story and I imagine that most everyone knows where this story is going but we only have so many times to come this way in a year and it's one of the most important stories we could ever know. And, so let's be sure to revere it, to give it reverence because it deserves it in our lives as we go through the day contemplating what it took to give us the life we have.
Then we move into the book of Proverbs and Lady wisdom, the voice, the feminine voice of wisdom is coming out of the Bible and speaking to us and today she said some very profound, like the…very profound things about herself. She says that she was there when God established the heavens and when he drew the horizon on the oceans. And she was there when He set the clouds above and when He established the springs, the waters of the earth. And she was there when He limited the seas so they wouldn't spread up onto the land. When He marked off the foundations of the earth, She, wisdom was the architect at His side. She was, according to the Bible, His constant delight, rejoicing always in His presence. And how happy she was, how happy Wisdom was when the world was created. How she rejoiced with the human family. And, so, she pleads, “listen to me. All who follow my ways are joyful.” I don't know if you’re catching what Proverbs has been telling us since the beginning of the year but she has been telling us that she is available to us and that she was there with God from the very beginning even before humanity was created. So, wisdom is flowing through creation and is more ancient than human beings. So, we have to wonder why we cross through most of the crossroads of our lives ignoring that she's there at the crossroads waiting to tell us which way to go. Like, we have to wonder why we ignore wisdom as much as we do when it was through wisdom that everything we have experience of has been created. Wisdom may be the greatest gift of God for understanding our lives and yet the greatest gift that we just walk past constantly. So, yeah, we should be paying attention here. Wisdom is something we need to acquire and that will be a process but she's telling us that if we look for her we’ll find her. So, if we’re looking for wisdom in our next choice, we can find it. Let's find it.
Prayer:
And, so, Father we invite You into that. Again, we’re asking for wisdom. Help us to tune our ears, to have ears to hear her call at the crossroads at the junctions of our lives. Forgive us for our foolishness and the ways that we have cultivated a relationship with the ways of foolishness. Help us to follow the path of wisdom we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is home base, it's the website, it’s where you find out what’s going around here.
This is gonna be a travel week. Later this week we’ll be heading out and moving our way toward Israel where we will do the Daily Audio Bible pilgrimage for two thousand…for…for 2020. And a great sense of anticipation, a great deal of planning and preparation and prayer has already gone into this and looking forward to it very much, but definitely inviting the community to begin to pray over all that’s gonna happen and we’re gonna pray over this the whole time that we’re gone, but thank you for your prayers. And even as we're preparing to go and even as like a couple of bus loads of people who are in this community from all over the world are gonna join together and where gonna become one big happy family when we meet in Ashdod on the on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea in just a few days, we won't be going alone. We don't go anywhere alone in the Daily Audio Bible. We’re never alone. We’re in this together. And, so, as real as that pilgrimage will be everyone…everyone can come along. Everyone is coming along. And, so, we’ll be broadcasting from there and talking about what we’re doing each day and posting all kinds of pictures and videos on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. And, so, it becomes quite the virtual tour where we’re visiting places that we’re reading about, standing in places that we visited in the Scriptures and everyone gets to come along. And then when we get about halfway through the trip through the trip, which will a week from this Saturday we’ll be broadcasting live once we get to the Galilee. And, so, you can tune in, ask questions, just be a part and just kind of hear different stories that are happening on this trip. It's a fantastic time. So, I'll keep you posted about that.
If you want to come. If you want to come next year on the pilgrimage for 2021, we have decided we’ll be going back in 2021 and registration for that pilgrimage is now open at dailyaudiobible.com in the Initiatives section. Just look for Israel 2021 and you can get all of the details that you would need for making that decision and hope to see one day in the land of the Bible.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at the website dailyaudiobible.com as well. There's a link that's right on the homepage. Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning Daily Audio Bible family this is Fee from Mississippi and today is February 4th of 2020. And I just…this message is for Anonymous. Anonymous called and says she’s in an abusive relationship…an abusive relationship. Anonymous, I am praying for you. You need to get out of there Anonymous. You don’t…you and nobody else deserve to be in those kind of relationships. I grew up and watch my mama go through it and I promised that my kids would never see me go through it and I wasn’t going to go through it and I thank God I have never been through it and I’m not going to go through it. There’s people out there that can help you Anonymous. I just pray that you get the help that you need. Please, get out of the situation. You can do it. I know you can. While you may love him, but you don’t deserve this. Walk away from him. And I thank you, thank you so much Daily Audio Bible. Thank you, Brian and Jill for all that you do. Everybody have you wonderful day. This is Fee from Mississippi. Thank you.
Hi Daily Audio Bible listeners, this is Brent from California and I’m calling in to pray for Daniel Johnson Junior of Cincinnati Ohio. I heard that you had congestive heart failure and in the name of Jesus I’ like to speak healing into your body and into your heart. May Jesus renew your heart and heal you. May you be in perfect health just as Jesus healed others when he was on earth. In addition, I pray that you will find a better job than you had before. Regardless of all the things the enemy may be saying to you, we speak in Jesus’ name that you will find the job of your life and be joyful in it and prosperous and healthy. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Hi, my name is Kyra I’m calling from the UK. I’m using a pseudonym. I’m a new listener to the DAB and I started kind of early this year. I’m just calling in because at this point, I’m not really sure where else to reach out. I’ve heard of people calling in it seems to really improve things for them and how God kind of touched their lives and I’m really in need of some kind of divine healing. But so many things are happening right now. You know, especially with work and employment. I just kind of lost out on a job that I really, really needed at this time. And it’s kind of like I just feel like I can’t catch a break. I don’t know where God wants me to go. I don’t know what He wants me to do next. I’m just at a loss for where He wants me to go, especially with, you know, my family right now really broken. My self-esteem is in a similar kind of space. I’m…I’m concerned about a lot of different parts of my life and I just don’t really know how I’m going to get any healing and am trying to stay faithful and that’s kind of why I’m calling today and is my first time. I just kind of…I’m just praying for healing, praying for breakthroughs, praying for divine intervention in my life for something good to happen. And I just pray that…that that maybe someone out there listening can…can pray for me and pray for my family and the brokenness that’s there in so many…in medical and physical and…and relationship wise. So, thank you. Thank you, guys.
Good morning DAB family this is Healing Hands from Gaithersburg Maryland. I was on a train and I just heard Michael asking for prayers for his mom because she’s in the hospital and basically in a coma like state. Michael, I pray for you. I pray for your mom. I pray for your brother. I pray for every heart that your mom has touched. I pray that regardless of if God is ready for her to come home, that you in your brother will ultimately be taken care of and together. I pray that you know that regardless of what happens that you have a family in the DAB. You have a family of those that know that God is with you and he is your strength and guidance and it’s in Jesus’ name I pray for you and your mom and your brother. And I pray that you get all that you need in life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
This is Joanne from Happy Valley and I want to say hi Michael. I heard your call today and I thank you for your update on your mom. And I know you would love to keep her with you, but I see that you also can understand that God may be ready to call her home for her eternal rest. All I can say is she is completely in God’s hands and so are you. I know that she has done a good job raising you. I believe that you and your brother will be fine because God is not only with your mom but he’s also with you in everything that you do. I join you in prayer that your mother will be restored. We don’t know whether God intends to restore her here or to take her home and fully restore her but do know that either way our prayers are always with you and your family. Your mother has left a beautiful legacy in her book and also in her beloved sons and we need to give God the thanks for that. Do have a blessed day and do keep in touch with us and let us know how she’s doing. Love you all. Bye.
Hey there this is Mike from New York City and I’m calling to pray for a…a brother who’s mom has stage IV brain cancer and she’s in the hospital again and just praying for deliverance for her not to die. My experience, 12 years ago my mom had cancer, stage IV and I prayed hard and I prayed, and I was in the hospital all the time playing the guitar, singing worship, reading her the Bible. And, you know what? She did pass away. A hard, hard night. Hardest night of my life. But afterwards, like right afterwards, within a half-hour, a couple came from my church that was just being nice and coming by to help our family and they said on the way over here that their son said he got a message from God saying that June, that’s my mother’s name, she’s healed. And at first I just felt, “what?” And they sat down with me. They said they weren’t sure they would tell me what…tell me that because mom just died, and it might sound crazy. But you know God said he was healed. And that was when their son texted them, right after my mom died. So, even though its hard man, death is a rebirth for us to love Jesus who are chosen by Yahweh. Death is a rebirth and a healing, a freedom from pain. So, it might suck bro, if you mom dies. It will be hard, but Jesus is with you and He’ll take you through it. So, lean on that and, yeah, I love you dude. And I know how it feels and, you know what, one day we will all know how it feels. All right. Goodbye.
Hi Daily Audio Bible family it’s Loralee in the Boynton Beach. I have a prayer request. I have a friend, a coworker recently, I believe born again five years ago. His name is Ricky. He’s on his way over in about an hour. He’s gonna spend the day. I’m cooking, encouraging people, singing, praying, watching the chosen. So, I invited him over. He lost his son to a murder five years ago here in Boynton Beach. His name was Ricky. He recently lost his wife. She died in her sleep suddenly. And two months after that he had a stroke. So, God has used all this pain to draw him to Himself. We know that God uses pain for good for, for His great purposes. So, I just pray that the Holy Spirit fills me with the Spirit of encouragement. He has great musical gifts that I don’t know anything about. He had a scholarship to the Chicago music conservatory when…before he got married and had children. And we all know that a lot of times God has gifted us for great things and then life, unbelief, not following Him leads to a path of diversion that brings us always back to His loving arms. And I just pray that, Holy Spirit fill me with the encouragement that Ricky needs today and to just spend time and a heart of compassion, which I already do in Jesus’ name. Amen.
