When the days grew long and dark and the walls pressed in, Lena turned to the fantasy of the open road, letting her mind wander beyond that which haunted her to the feeling of the engine roar beneath her. It became a crutch, something to carry her through the late nights, the surgeries, the recoveries and the restart of the whole process.

The first time she was able to taste that freedom, Lena cried. Propped carefully on the back of Jesse's bike, arms tight around his waist, Lena sobbed with the beat of the beast in her chest as the pavement disappeared beneath them and the world buzzed beneath her skin. If he noticed, he didn't say anything.

Her first bike was a cruiser, just like his, presented in an informal ceremony in one of the garages. An older Indian Scout Bobber Sixty, with a smokey blue finish. Today, she keeps all three bikes in a garage off site, taking them out to ride at least once a week. If needed, she still takes the sport bikes out for missions, but the cruiser is left untouched. It's her project, something she chooses to keep separate from the threat of war.

It is a bold choice because I decided to integrate Fluro colours to achieve this.
