sooooo... *twirls her hair* how many asks should i send until kuwagami art. jk as well. the real question will be: does it happen often that someone else’s art inspires you? in fandom spaces specifically
well you see it’s like a loyalty card program, every 10 asks or so you get a complimentary kuwagami
just kidding you can just breathe in my direction and I’ll be tempted to draw them. kuwagami blast! (you've caught me on a... just okay art day lol)
(people still like kabedons, right?)
anyway for my actual answer:
in terms of direct inspiration, it doesn't really happen much? the last two times i did art directly based on someone else's work is probably this one from this fic, and also that time i drew art of someone else's judgment au. oh! and there's that moriohpsycho art based on this comic! (filthyguts' work is so very. hgngngghh. very good.)
nothing else really comes to mind, and when i think of the other things i've been into recently there hasn't been as much opportunity for that to happen...
flex and herds = strong fixation but lmao. almost nobody else made stuff about them. nobody is surprised
umineko = surprisingly i don't read much umineko fanfiction? and in terms of illustration, i certainly picked up imagery and indirect inspiration but nothing concrete enough for me to give an example... now that i think about it, i did once draw andromalius from redaction/sunny, but that was years ago, and also mostly because i was acquainted with the writer. ...i don't have that artwork on hand right now
death note = didn't really get involved with the fandom + i enjoyed my own ideas well enough! ...i can't recall if i drew long-hair-L art before or after seeing other artists do it.
and as for everything else the same kind of reasoning applies. didn't really get involved with the fandom or wasn't really compelled to make art in response to stuff i saw, or i just don't remember anymore.
buuuuuuut if we're opening this up to just... pulling ideas from other people? then yeah, all the time, though that kind of goes without saying when you have a creative hobby. ...it's probably going to be hard to come up with examples of this since it's more ambiguous.
there's uhhhhhh... kuwana listens to nickelback which was a @/four-white-trees invention, wasn't it? (EDIT: and @/overdevelopedglasses!) (not tagging in this post so he doesn't feel obligated to read my big ass ask responses 💀) as of writing this, it's not posted but i did end up making kuwagami art based on a nickelback song so. yknow. there's that LMAO
for sawashiro and arakawa, i do sometimes go reference @/todayisafridaynight 's art to help me with my own. ("how did he draw this part of the suit? oh, like that huh? hmm" <- this kind of thing)
and um. i'm not trying to pander to you (at least not this time), but genuinely it's one of the few examples that come to mind at this moment. but when i was writing my first kuwagami fic, i could feel the influence of the ever-changing on my brain... was turning over some of your ideas there...
you remember this? (you even pointed it out in your comment on my fic, and i should've said something then, but whatever i'm saying it now)
that was absolutely because of this
(obligatory poke at anybody else reading this post that you can read passthroughtime's fic here.)
so, um. yeah. not really sure what else to add to that. pretty self evident i think. (i'm always talking about the ever-changing but i don't think i can overstate the impression it left on me at the time)
anyhow there aren't really any other examples off the top of my head! these are all recent examples so they're not so difficult to recall, but there are probably others i've forgotten...

(One thing I find peculiar and unfortunate in current fandom business is the seeming lack of pointed discussion, so here is a humble attempt to spark a conversation and I more than welcome commentary.)
I came across someone in the notes to a post somewhere talking of how Jillian had been better styled in season two than in season one and I agreed, already seeking the justification for it in my mind. My observations are as follows:
S1 Jillian is Arq-Tech's mastermind and public face. Even though we first meet her in Morocco, in her explorer, Indiana Jones-like garb, it's the image of her running her company that sticks with us, her statements to the press, her corporate persona opening metaphorical fire upon the Church. A "powerful woman" as mainstream media constructs for us everyday, in subtle but visible makeup so as to diminish the effects of age on her face, in heels so as to peek at the rest of humanity from above, with controlled gestures meant for the inherent theatricality that comes with introducing life-changing technology to society. It is a role she plays—well, but a role nonetheless.
The scene she shares with father Vincent is worthy of mention, for while he sits without taking up much space, his body restrained to the side of a couch, his legs crossed in what is deemed a more "feminine" posture, Jillian takes up the traditional "masculine" attitude: she commands the room, her body expanding upon her seat, in the broad pose where an ankle rests upon a knee, complete with a generous glass of alcohol in hand and talon on foot. Yet this is also for show—it's a little too calculated, a dance that was so perfected in exhaustive practice that it lost its dynamic.
Our glimpses into the more authentic Jillian come in the scenes with Michael—not only because (coded in white and blue as the Virgin Mary of immaculate conception) she plays the part of mother, but because, in her intimacy, far from journalists and employees and the public's prying eyes, she can be more herself within the areas where she conducts her studies. Starting from when Ava asks Jillian to "science her", we never see the doctor in uncomfortable shoes again, as she retreats from entrepreneurial life and into the lab.
This is clearer in season two, for, as Kristian says, she is on sabbatical, thus isolated from general view; S2 Jillian has nobody around her, nobody to impress. Locked away in her Spanish villa, consumed by her son's disappearance, she need not wear a mask. There are no more tellingly feminine accessories, no staged stunts; her clothes and footwear are even more practical, her movements less grand but more human, more expressive (here, of course, we owe it to Thekla Reuten's underrated range). Even as the OCS invites itself into her house, making it a makeshift HQ, she doesn't fall back on the act we saw in the first season.
Jillian's stepping back from the head of her company is not just in name and contract, but in body, too; she leaves the CEO role in her office and comes home to her science and her cause, to her limited inner circle of which only Michael was privy to and into which the OCS nuns end up finding their way.
Colours also indicate a shift—we begin the series seeing her associated with light hues such as white, beige and baby blues, but when season two comes in, Jillian's striking all-white attire is nowhere to be found. The Holy Mother parallel is in shambles after Michael has gone through the ark's portal, the intangibility of this "saintly", aseptic rich genius broken down, her person brought back to Earth after flights of fancy trying to open a gate to Heaven.
We see her in a darker palette, in greys with dashes of white, yes, but never again in full white. It is not just the authorisation to be herself rather than her company's face while in her private world, but also the reflection of her inner darkness and her loss upon her very appearance.
What a more definite loss could mean, now that her son is gone for good, remains a mystery.
For instance, unlike the nun who served as her superior, our Suzanne rejects the characteristic blues of the Order of the Cruciform Sword to don a heavy all-black outfit, more reminiscent of Orthodox priests than it is Roman Catholic nuns; her resurrection through Ava does not lighten her habit, if it does lighten her burden, so we can only assume, going forward, should there be any relation between how each character expresses their inner workings through clothing, that Jillian Salvius would keep the mixture of white and grey that season two brought along... Or go darker still.

I thought I would make the security office and overall I think I'm happy with how it turned out. It was fun to make.
Also, since I spent so much time on it just for it to get hidden behind the security equipment, here's the poster on the wall.
And a little chompy Freddy just for fun.

(^ this is me at you rn)
Thank you so much <333 it seriously means the world to me that people love/like my Kim stuff. AND to know that some of yall actually read my silly little notes
I try to keep her as in character as I can, and I feel I have been largely successful, for the most part. I feel like she comes fairly naturally to me- I only occasionally hit snags,, but usually that's just because I'm high or something and am overcome with the desire to Maximize The Silly shfgkjshjld She's so serious though, usually. I love her <3 I love getting to be her for The People

Empires SMP album covers
HELLO TUMBLR PEOPLE
I thought it would be fun to draw album covers of artists in the style of different empires. Kinda with the idea in mind that these bands would be from these areas. So, I looked for some songs that I thought fit and I drew them! Here are the results! (4/8, working on more :D)
Stratos: Half-alive - Not Now Not Yet
Highlighted song: Creature
I chose this song because I like the idea that the people of Stratos are very religious. The majority of their songs are about The god of the Sky. Further, They believe that the people of Stratos are perfect because they are created by Joel, who is perfect. Some might also still worship the ancient Queen of the Ocean. They see her as a fallen God from the past and also the past lover of God Joel.
Chromia: Saint Motel - Foyeur
Highlighted song: You Do it well
I will be honest, I mainly chose this album because of how it looked. But also I adore Saint Motel and I think it fits Chromia very well. Their music is quite diverse, most of the time cheery with a hint of mischief and mystery. I specifically chose the song "do it so well" because it fits the idea of Scott stealing and doing not-so-legal things, but somehow always getting away with it.
Gobland: The Dreadnoughts - Polka's not dead
Highlighted song: Polka never dies (or Goblin Humpa, simply bc of the name)
For Gobland I had a fitting band before even starting the project. I think The Dreadnoughts is a perfect fit. Their music is mainly reminiscent of drinking songs that would be played in bars and taverns. I believe that goblins would be notorious for their loud music and their ability to hold their booze. If you're looking for a good time, the bars of Gobland are the perfect place to go to. I think The Dreadnoughts perfectly reflect that idea.
And last but not least:
Tumble Town: Dan Romer - Into The Flames (Far cry 5 OST)
Highlighted songs: "Oh John" and "Build a castle"
This is the first one I drew and also one I pretty quickly had an answer for. Tumble Town is more of a country-music-type empire. I think the "Into The Flames" album fits the Empire quite well. I like the idea of the people of Tumble Town having a very big appreciation and lots of respect for the Sherrif, which they show in their music. The Sherrif is their protector and they would do anything for him. Although I don't think it's quite Far Cry 5 level (At least I hope not O.O).

More Haruka Verdict Thoughts
Sorry, I’m going to be insufferable for a while here while I’m trying to figure out my whole verdict thoughts.
T/W: mentions of suicide, serial killers
I’m still torn on the verdict. I thought I’d landed solidly on innocent, but I was talking to some people in youtube comments, and now I’m not so sure.
On the one hand, I do believe that voting him innocent is the safest vote in terms of keeping people alive through the second trial. It’s more predictable, and it doesn’t risk harming his safe space or fragile mindset.
However... I feel like if we vote him innocent here in the second round, we’ll be locking him into a guilty verdict for the third round. Even if I do forgive him emotionally, I don’t know that I could, in good conscience, clear him with an innocent verdict. Haruka shows, like, all the signs of a young serial killer, so I don’t think we can really release him into the wild without doing something about it first. Maybe a guilty verdict would be what he needs to correct his path.
But, if I’m right that he’s at risk of committing suicide if we give him a guilty verdict, then it doesn’t really matter, does it? I’d rather keep the door open for an innocent verdict than guarantee his death. In which case, I’d pick the safer option.
But it’s not a guarantee that we lose him if we vote him guilty. That’s just a theory. At the same time, we don’t know that it’s a guarantee that we can’t help fix his mindset if we vote him innocent. And, even if we vote him guilty, and even if he survives this round, we don’t know that we’ll be able to redeem him in the end. In that case, wouldn’t a guilty verdict be needless suffering?
Would Haruka even be able to succeed at a suicide attempt? We don’t know exactly how the restraining works. If he’s restrained enough that he couldn’t actually hurt himself, but he was still emotionally suicidal and had to sit through it, would that change my verdict, or would it just be cruel?
I guess the big problem is, either way, we’re not going to know what would have happened on the other path. If we vote guilty and he commits suicide, we won’t even know what happens in the third trial. If we vote him innocent and his behavior and outlook opens and we have to vote him guilty in the end, we’ll never know if we could have changed the result by flipping his vote, if he could’ve been helped. Whatever happens, the result is going to haunt me if anything happens that feels like we got it wrong. And, assuming our results aren’t flawless, that’s going to happen.
Sorry for the rambling, this vote’s just making me think a lot.

I saw your tierlist! love the blackbright (Blackquill x Fulbright) appreciation!! your tierlist is actually pretty swag, but I do have like one question and that is how come you don't get junithena (Juniper x Athena?) just curious!
(also I feel like you probably know these ship names so it's weird for me to add the explanations but I'm doing it anyway just in case)
(I had typed out a whole response right. and Tumblr. and Tumblr Ate It. In front of my Eyes. It even Said so. so you are Spared with this being a bit more Brief since I have to retype Everything . as it did not have the Kindness to save it as a Draft 👹)
(Also I do know These Ones at least but I do Appreciate it . I think ship names are a Little Goofy sounding though so I tend not to use them but I will take this into account in Tagging things 👍)
But Glad to hear my takes are Swag 😎 of course I gotta appreciate the Silly Guys (as I like refer to them . like it's my own Ship Name for these guys) I Mourn the Hilarious dynamic and Interesting things they Could've had if Dual Destinies didn't Hate Me In Particular. Curse You Dual Destinies. Guess I have to do it Myself 🙄 (Lighthearted Statement)
Anyways I realize that I put it Juniper x Athena in the wrong tier (Classic me mixing things up and only realizing it in Retrospect moment)
I do Understand why people would ship them - on a surface level, y'know they're childhood friends, have Nicknames and all that Jazz. Not for me though. (So it would have been the Yellow Tier) But to Elaborate:
It's a disconnect I have with Juniper as a character -- it soured her dynamic with Athena for me. There's something about Juniper's portrayal, in conjunction with some of her actions that just rubbed me the wrong way. The vibes were off, shall we say. (I wrote a bit as to why but Uh….. It got sent to the Ether. Thanks Tumblr. I might go into it Another Day)
I guess I'll just say Turnabout Academy didn't really convince me that the characters were good friends -- even though that was The Point? I dunno (my Ability to word my points has Gone down the Drain 💀)
Point Being: Certain aspects of Juniper's whole deal impacted how I saw their dynamic Which didn't exactly lend itself to Romance in my eyes (Outside the fact Juniper is Canonically waxing Poetically about how Apollo makes her feel like she's Photosynthesizing Lmao) and I'm just not a Huge Juniper Fan as she exists in canon. Love her Design though 👍

Okay so haha I’m not gonna do things on here or Diantha until Friday, because while I’m very invigorated after doing bunches of chores, I’m really in a drawing mood finally??
But um very random, but yo um read “Whisper Me A Love Song”; I just bought the first volume at B&N after trying to find some stuff, and it was very cute and the art is gorgeous?? And also the “My Senpai Is Annoying” manga, but I probably don’t have to tell people to read that; I think it’s popular though that could just be my slight love for it talking.

4 years ago I heard a song on the radio while working my shift at KFC and it has haunted me ever since and Google thinks the song isn't real and Reddit thinks the song isn't real. This is my existential nightmare.
