#I'm basically feeling there's a double standard in the fanbase here

Netflixvania fans will hate Mariacard because one's 16 and the other's an adult after shipping and continuing to ship Trephacard, which has a teenager shipped with two adults
EDIT: Okay I know this isn't obvious but it needs to be said, Netflix Maria uses the design of 12 year old Maria, but she's actually 16. SOTN Maria is 17, which makes her a year older than Netflix Maria. If there was a 5 year time skip in the show, that would make Maria 21.

I watched the 'Sherlock is garbage' video as well and I think he had good points, but I don't want to give up yet. Also idk how he researched and whether it was a coincidence but a lot of what he said was fandom meta stuff and I hated the way he belittled the fandom and acted like he was above it. I'm happy he acknowledged the queerbaiting, but at the same time he seemed to think j&s must be straight while clearly identifying moriarty as gay -.- as a lesbian and tjlcer I was kind of upset
Anonymous said to inevitably-johnlocked: Hey. So I saw one of your posts about the "Sherlock is Garbage" thing and I've seen so many others about it on Instagram, and a lot of people are saying that because of the video they no longer like Sherlock anymore. And I thought maybe you might have watched it so what are your opinions? I feel like watching it but at the same time I don't want to because I might end up hating the show. But I feel that by not watching it's like I'm in denial about how bad the show actually is.

Hi Nonnies!
I know you’re not the same one, but again, same topic and I’ll just reply to both. Still haven’t watched / listened to it, so I’m going on the knowledge I have gathered from everyone else.
Nonny One, I do believe he actually did go on tumblr and look for meta (apparently my blogname shows up in it) otherwise he wouldn’t have known about a lot of our fandom things; I give him props for that at least, doing his basic research. But again, there was NO NEED for him to belittle a fanbase for enjoying the show. I’ve said time and again that it’s such a freaking double standard with fandoms, and I find it irritating and backhanded of them, ESPECIALLY if we’re shipping a gay ship... Someone answer this for me... did he ridicule any of the she1011ie or adb10cker shippers? I’m just curious why WE’RE the crazy ones for writing college-level essays and dissertations on the series, but not the people who wrote meta on other ships in the series.
But yes, it’s just really backhanded of him to then compliment us afterwards? Like... I find that still a little... pretentious and “I’m better than you because I didn’t get into this garbage show, hah hah”. *shrugs* This is a lot of reason I tend to not watch any “reviews” about Sherlock, because it majority of the time ends up with them ridiculing the fanbase.
Which then leads me to Nonny #2′s answer: as I said above, I have not watched it, if only because I don’t need a casual to tell me the problems with the series while subsequently mocking me for writing meta about it, even still to this day. Like, yes, I’m glad people outside of the fanbase are seeing the problems with the show, but HE COULD HAVE DONE IT WHILE NOT MOCKING US. It’s up to you Nonny if you want to watch it; you’re not in denial if you chose not to – I know I surely ain’t – but I do agree it is hard to hear the “cold hard facts” told to us from an outsider’s perspective. I probably should watch it if only because I am a blogger who many come to for support and advice, so yeah. As cringeworthy as I’m sure it is, I probably should do that.
Anyway, I don’t think I’ll ever truly hate the show; I dislike the writers for what they have done to my beloved series and to my Sherlock and John. They could have been groundbreaking, but instead it’s just another queerbaiting mysogynistic mess as it stands right now.
