KID NICK UPDATE I have recently been pretty silent about my games, both new and existing, even though my life has been substantially less busy over the last few months. I feel like I've been neglecting being "in the TTRPG community" to the small extent I already was, but I'm also happier and saner than I was when I was regularly checking in and occasionally commenting on TTRPG Twitter. Which is a trade-off I'll make any day!

NEW GAMES

I know it's an internet creator cliche, but I have several WIPs that I'm really excited about, and they're all at different levels of completion. It's Time is a GM-led dungeon crawl through an infinitely tall tower. It's my first game that really feels like it's about something and it's designed to make you feel certain ways and it's basically done save for some actual dungeon content. That'll probably stay as a digital-only game but should release soon! Card Hearts is a GM-led card-batting TTRPG set in a world where all conflict is resolved through trading card game battles. Players use playing card decks with cards that awaken into powerful unique trading cards at moments of tension and desperation. I've designed the card battling game, all ~200 cards for it, and have a framework of the rules, but I want this game to have stellar art and it's going to require a lot of it. Expect an artless "demo" version of this sometime in the next few months, maybe? It's the project I'm most excited about but it's daunting.

You Teach Me is a GM-less game for 2 players exploring the power dynamics and odd friendship of a trademark-agnostic master tamer and their battling monster. One player is the tamer, a human who issues battle commands to their best friend. The other player is the intelligent but speechless monster, who does the battling and receives that injuries but isn't the one who calls the shots. I have the framework for this one but need to fill it in- it'll incorporate some co-op strategy, as well. I'd like to have a physical release of this. Finally, while I do have other TTRPG projects that with some level of development behind them, I'm also working on a video game with a friend. It's in super early stages, but it is taking up a big chunk of my time. More on that to come, hopefully? EXISTING GAMES Did you know I put out a new game earlier this year? Probably not, because I put it out under a pen name for brand and vulnerability reasons. Well, to hell with that; please go check out Tabletop Foreplaying Game! Hometown Holiday and The NPC Phonebook are both available as physical zines through Indie Press Revolution! If you're going to Gen Con (like me! I'll be there!), you can go to the IPR booth and buy Hometown Holiday in person! And finally, all my games are available digitally, including the tumblr post-inspired, played-in-Smash-Bros TTRPG smallroom shorttimer bigquestions ultimate and the free Gawrsh Quest! Fun fact about Gawrsh Quest- I met Bill Farmer, voice of Goofy, at Gen Con last year and told him I made a horror game where everyone is a different version of Goofy. He seemed legitimately delighted to hear about it! STREAMING

Idk I miss streaming but my internet has just gotten worse and worse and it just hasn't been sustainable. Maybe one day soon I'll try again.

I've been avoiding doing this, cause I'm not the best at sharing, and cause its the suckiest life update ever. Obviously, this is not an art post.

I'm gonna make a short thread of photos out of this, so, hope im doing this part right, but CW: animal death, pet death ahead, in case you dont block those tags already.

Just under 8 years ago, I adopted the best dogo I have ever known. We had ranch dogs when I was a kid, so I've had a LOT of dogs; Tsavo was something super special. I mean, kid leash trained himself an hour after I adopted him. He had zero trouble learning new things, from go.

He was great with our other animals, tho he ate my favorite feather pillow and carried my not yet planted flowers around like a trophy.

And he was tiny tiny when he first came home; I was told he wouldn't get very big (i did not believe them one bit.)

Apparently neither did he. In fact he took it as a challenge. He capped out at 102 pounds at his peak, and healthy. He was a hiker, a camper, and a lake dog (tho he didn't swim well. Imagine, a lab who can't swim??)

He would sit with me when I was gardening, hang out in the garage when we were working, would lay around and watch the chickens...his second name was "In-The-Way", but in a good way.

He even helped fetch tools when we were working (nothing sharp or too heavy, he knew his limits)

He was always patient with us taking photos (of which there were so. Very. Many.)

In spite of my best attempts to socialize him, he never did quite get the whole, personal space & canine body language thing. But luckily he made friends pretty easily.

Which was helpful when we brought home a kitten who decided "slow introduction" was too slow for him.

He was an all season idiot, and made everyone happy with his persistence in fetching items when requested; bags, tools, shoes (matching pairs!)...And if he didn't know the item you were requesting by name, he would bring you every single sock he could find to make up for it.

He helped me come down when I came home in tears from work, when I was stressed from a nightmare, or if i woke up in a panic after an episode if sleep paralysis.

He was, inequivically, the absolute best dogs I've ever known, and could have asked for.

Now the sad part. I posted recently on Twitter that Tsavo hasn't been doing great. He developed a limp in late October. I took him to work for a checkup.

We thought it was a torn mcl, that would heal. It might not even need surgery, since his xrays weren't showing much.

We were wrong. It was cancer. And by the time we realized it, it had already spread from his leg into his chest.

I was not mentally prepared for how fast everything went downhill from there, but given the tone of this post, and the censor, I suppose its obvious where this goes.

He stopped eating. He couldn't get comfortable, even with pain meds. His leg seemed dead and cold below the knee, and he started coughing only days after we got the results back.

We opted to euthanize Tsavo last Thursday, the 1st of the month.

I am very very not ok right now.

I'll get another dog. I know I will, I've proven in the past I dont like not having one around. I love dogs. I'm going to meet one this weekend. I feel selfish being excited when I'm still this broken, but this last month has been a nightmare in itself, so I want to be happy too.

But I firmly believe getting a new pet is never a replacement for an old one. And it couldn't be anyways. There will never be another Tsavo like my great, amazing boy was.

I can never be grateful enough for what this big, stupid, idiot goofball brought to my life.

And im just as grateful for my friends, who have been helping me deal with this for over a month now.

I love this dog, with my whole heart and everything I have, and I will miss him forever.

He really was the bestest best boy ❤

I miss Jenna so much 😭😭😭 Remember when a couple months ago Julian posted a photo of literally the back of her head and she was trending on Twitter for like two days??? lol. And then a girl who is LEGIT identical to her posted a tiktok and tiktok almost broke? A tiktok user that stitched the girl's after the first few seconds jumped in and was like "I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING BUT ITS NOT HER! ITS NOT HER!" had like two million likes and a gazillion million views. WE MISS YOU OUR 34 YEAR OLD LADY (She's 34 by now right?).

But I'm pretty sure Marbles is still alive. Julian posted an update on the dogs not too long ago. This sounds mean but while I've never given a single fuck about Julian, I do check in on his YT every so often just to see if he posts about the dogs (and to make sure Marbles hasn't died 😩)

There's two people I'll NEVER EVER EVERRRRRR forgive the internet for forcing into deleting until the day I die: Jenna Marbles and Lizzie Olsen. Y'all are entitled pieces of shit for those two.

Jenna is the type of thing I was talking about the other day where you don't let people grow as human beings. Did Jenna maybe post a dumb video at one point YEARSSSSSSS before the drama went down? Yes. Did she apologize for it multiple times? Yes. Was it FUCKING OBVIOUS that she was a much different person and she had grown and evolved into someone else? Yes. Then why were people digging shit up and fucking holding something from her past over her head IN THE PRESENT? Because the internet is fucking stupid. That's why. Also, MULTIPLE videos she did were taken wildly out of context and people just believed it without fact checking. Imagine Jenna...JENNA FUCKING MARBLES bring accused of animal abuse and neglect LMAO. That's just how the internet works. One person says it, takes two screenshots, clips ten seconds of a video out of context, and 50 people blindly believe, spread it, and that turns into 5000 people who spread it wider. To this day, when she was trending two years after leaving the internet I was still seeing people like on Twitter "Why are y'all saying you miss a racist animal abuser?" And THAT is how the internet runs unchecked and ruins lives.
