"Without our stories we are incomplete.” ― Neil Gaiman, Stardust 💫 . . Happy Sunday, Booksta-Lovelies! 🥰 . . Without our stories we ARE incomplete! This is on of my fave quotes from Stardust. Both the book and the movie are adorable 💕 - I hope you've had a chance to check them out. If not, the movie is on Netflix right now if you're in the mood for some cute fantasy on this (rainy ⛈ for me) Sunday! 🤓 . . Sooo... I'm in a bit of a book funk of late. 😩 I finished Kingsbane and lord have mercy. 🙈 No spoilers, but it totally caught me off guard and I don't think in a good way for me. 😭Hangover city - and another year to wait! Uggh. Have you read it yet?! What did you think? 🤔 . . QOTD: What's your go-to book hangover buster for you?! I'm desperate. 🥺 . . And now... Dun Dun Dunnnnn... time for the shop updates! 🙌 . . I'm finishing up the last open regular orders today and should be shipping them all tomorrow (yay)!! 🙌 Then the Wicked 😈 Fun boxes are scheduled to ship by 6/15. Everything is ready to go on them, so as soon as the boxes come in from the printer we'll be packing them up and shipping those bad boys (hahah see what I did there? 🤣 ) out. Friday Faves
Hey hey! Happy Friday! What do you have going on this weekend? We have a family dance at Liv’s school (super cute!) and are looking forward to a date night. I’d love to hear what you have going on. I’d love to do something outdoors as a fam – the Pilot has been to Sabino Canyon since he’s been home! – but the weather has been all over the place. It was in the 70s and incredible before we went to Georgia, and now it’s freezing and has been raining a lot. Who even knows, but summer will definitely be here soon enough.
(Miss P loves clunking around in my rain boots.)
Today is also Everly’s 2nd birthday!! (It always brings me back to the day I finally got to meet her sweet face.)
She’s grown so much and is the smartest, silliest, sweetest little thing. We can’t wait to celebrate with her this weekend!
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds, eats, wears, and reads from the week. I love hearing about your faves, too, if you’d like to join in the fun in the comments section.
Fitness:
Today is the last day to register for Home Workout Warrior LIVE at the preorder price. We start on Monday! If you sign up today, you’ll get everything in your inbox tonight (4 weeks of workouts + 4 weeks of meals from a Registered Dietitian) and the price will be jumping later this afternoon. Right now, it’s only $9. The cost of 2 lattes can put some serious pep in your workout step. Sign up here!
Tucson things:
The gem show! The gem show is a huge annual event in Tucson and jewelers visit from all over the world. Giant tents are filled with jewels, gems, and complete jewelry, and it’s SO much fun to walk around and snag some incredible pieces at wholesale prices. (You need a business license to register, so I’m able to get passes through my LLC.)
I went once with madre, and then back again with madre and Kyle. We found so much great stuff: I got a beautiful purse, a buddha for the office, crystals as gifts, statement earrings,
(these were each only $9!)
and got my wedding ring resized. It’s always a bit snug on me, especially when we travel or I consume more sodium than usual. Turns out, the size was 3 1/2! WHAT. Now that I don’t have child-sized hands anymore, it was nice to have it resized so I can actually wear it, even after a large hibachi dinner.
Read, watch, listen:
I hope this becomes the norm.
This was SO much fun to watch.
Beautycounter finds featured in InStyle!
An interesting perspective on digital minimalism.
Don’t forget to check out this week’s podcast episode with that one guy I like.
I would LOVE to day drink with Ina.
Say yes to what excites you.
Good eats:
More reasons to add some flax to your oatmeal or smoothie.
Making this egg roll in a bowl next week.
These skillet sweet potato brownies look amaaaaaazing.
Beauty and fashion:
Tint skin. I’ve always used Dew Skin, but I had some credit from my last social and decided to finally try out tint skin. I LOVE it. It gives a really nice coverage without feeling too cake-y and it’s extremely hydrating. The Flawless in Five set includes Tint Skin + our new brow gel (+ everything you need to get ready in 5 minutes!) so if you’ve been wanting to try out some safer beauty products, this is a great starting point. Right now, you also get a free retractable foundation brush with a Flawless in Five kit!
Obsessed with this leopard skirt.
Check out Valentine’s gift ideas here if you’re shopping this weekend! <3
The most popular items on the gift guide from this year:
Barefoot Dreams throw
The most ridiculously hilarious boxers
Sporty sunglasses
A custom couple portrait
Gorgeous Kendra Scott pendant
Hope you have a happy Friday!
xoxo

Denver Part 3- First few days
Saturday: I arrived at the night time and had a weirdly delicious tuna subway from the airport for dinner and got to say hi to my friend pal before she went to sleep :)
Sunday: Caroline and I didn’t follow the routine and talked too much in the morning and unregulated Sarah so Caroline dropped me off at the mall to hang out there while they reset which was a very good idea. She’s very clever. And I got to observe the cool weird american architecture and FINALLY eat chipotle (pretty good) and go to some fave stores and a really gorgeous candy store called Lolli and Pops which was just delightful. Then Caroline and Sarah picked me up and we went to the supermarket which has a starbucks inside it and we had delightful seasonal starbucks while exploring the supermarket and getting things and we bought three different cereals and five different ben and jerry’s flavours among other things and it was a really good time. I even got to choose some cheese for myself because Caroline is very kind and supportive of her cheese-head guests :) Back at the absolutely adorable and very well decorated Fall-coloured apartment we watched supergirl and justice league action, we did colouring in, we had delicious artichoke pasta and ice creams shaped like Twix bars.
Monday: Today we were on routine and on point. Last week the motel people had informed Caroline that despite the decidedly Summery temperature, the pool was being drained for Winter. That warning turned out to be a week too early because they actually just drained the pool literally on this Monday day I am writing about, but Sarah and Caroline had already successfully tried out a public pool last week. So today after a delicious lunch of really good frozen pizza (we had so much fun in the supermarket y’all) we went to try out another one and it was also a massive success! Swimming is a very good proprioceptive activity so it’s something that Sarah and Caroline try to do a lot. There wasn’t really anywhere good in the pool for just hanging, there was a big shallow zone with tippy buckets and sprayers for kids to play in, a swimming laps area, and a big ass lazy river. Luckily, there was a little zone at the mouth of the river that was at the depth of the lazy river but not in the actual river that we could chill in. Y’all it was loud as and there were people and kids and Sarah managed the whole thing it was so amazing. Afterwards we went to troll heaven. It was a wool shop called Colourful Yarns but I think trolls would super love it because I certainly did, and lord knows I’m very similar to Anna Kendrick. Y’all, this shop is AMAZING. SO MUCH WOOL. SO MANY AMAAAAAAZING COLOURS. And this girl right here (me) successfully decided on one and Caroline even accidentally found me the world’s greatest pom pom so now we three are dope knitting buddies and I am very slowly making a hat. Nice :) We went back to the apartment and played with Mad Matter which is insanely soothing and wonderful and I want some for myself. It’s like kinetic sand but soft???? Holy shit it’s good. We ate delicious mexican food and did knitting and watched supergirl and miraculous: tales of ladybug and cat noir and it was delightful.
Tuesday: Again today we were so on routine and so on point. When I woke up Sarah was ranking lip smackers based on smell which is a really good sensory exercise but also really hard so it was really really cool that she was feeling really good and wanted to do that. Sarah did some zumba after that to do something proprioceptive and energising. It’s so so cool how management of SPD works by using different sensory activities to address this sensory problem and it’s so so cool to see how well this approach works and how much Sarah and Caroline have learned about it and adopted so quickly. After more delicious pizza lunch we headed out to the Denver Cat Company! Which is a cat cafe! Cue sounds of delight! It was an absolutely lovely place with absolutely lovely cats and when we arrived there was only one other person there which was also lovely. We were there for a really long time but a good amount of time and we made cat friends and played with them and were very good cat people and it was such a fun time and then we left because great swathes of people (who turned out to be cat bullies) all suddenly arrived in this totally buckwild 3pm rush on the cat cafe :o But man, what a good time! We then went to Little Man ice cream which is a giant milk can with people inside selling ice cream. We had some hard decisions to make because the flavours all sounded so good and they had a bunch of special ones for their sweet and salty celebration, but fam, we did it. And it was delicious. Sarah’s new backpack turned out to have a super weird magnet situation so went home via walmart via a delightful scenic route courtesy of Caroline’s Tours. We found a good bag and browsed the truly magnificent Halloween section which included a baby book that I love and want which was about parent ghosts and pumpkins and cats and other halloween characters telling their child halloween characters that they loved them. Wonderful. Sarah had a meltdown in the evening which was so understandable and also really illustrated how well the therapy is going. Caroline could figure out the sensory and emotional stuff going on, and they worked through it as a team, and Sarah bounced back and got out of it so well and just yeah they both just did so well and on the one hand it sucks seeing your friend hurting and knowing it’s sensory stuff and there’s nothing you can do, but it’s also really amazing to see your friend hurting but not hurting as much because she can get back from there and avoid going there so much better than before.
Wednesday: Today we wanted to be a little more chill because we have been doing so much but it turned out that we actually ended up doing quite a lot still! Sarah and I “baked” cookies from the chocolate chip cookie dough we got at the supermarket and it turned out they were pre-shaped into lil rounds already:O So it wasn’t the good proprioceptive activity we had hoped for, but it was still fun setting them out and being pedantic about spacing because that was our only input into the process :P Then we decorated pumpkin shaped sugar cookies using a kit I found at the candy store, and my dudes, those lil pumpkins look soooooo good and the chocolate chip cookies taste reeealll good so we’re basically baking kings. Caroline had been out getting stuff and she came back with some happy meals for lunch. These were delicious and fun but for some reason mcdonald’s is just.. not as good here? Which is very weird but it’s just.. worse than new zealand. We did get fun toys though so I guess I can’t complain that much :) We went to an enormous Halloween pop up store and an enormous party store and had a real good time browsing the super high quality costumes and the mind-boggling range of very cute party favours. Both of those stores had Halloween decorations making loud spooky sounds in them and bad lights and one had screaming kids and a helium pump in it too and Sarah did so well it was amazing. She’s a legend. We had bought supplies to make sensory bottles with glitter in them like a home made non-glowing lava lamp and it turned out to be a lot more work and a lot less soothing than we had hoped so after an initial attempt, Sarah and I did some colouring in while Caroline bought some glitter glue. Fam. Do not muck around with hair gel or oil or anything else trying to make yourself one of these bad boys. Go straight for the glue and your life will be a dream because this glue is amazing and we made the dopest bottles full of glitter that slowly float around and glow in the dark and they are so visually soothing. I didn’t know that visual fidgets are a thing but they are! And we made some today! Nice :) For dinner we had pokè which I’ve never had before but it turns out is very delicious, and we watched Legends of Tomorrow and Miraculous and did knitting and had a jolly good time. What a good and crafty day :)

Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a good week. We’ve been laying low, escaping to the pool as soon as distance learning wraps up each day, and savoring time with sweet Bella. The poor girl is hanging in there, but her eye looks much worse and we’ve been up with her every night this week. Her sarcoma is in a “growth stage” – the vet said it will stabilize for a week and then grow rapidly for about a week and repeat – and we can tell it’s starting to affect her jaw and chewing ability. A vet is coming to take a look at her at the house this afternoon.
What are you up to over the long weekend? We’re attending a small outdoor baby shower, doing our Princess and the Frog themed movie night, and I’m going to catch a yoga class. I CAN’T WAIT. Ever since I threw my back out last week, I’ve realized that I really need to get back into regular yoga practice. It helps me personally to avoid injuries, it positively impacts my mobility and flexibility, and I notice that I feel more calm and centered when it’s a consistent part of my life. I’d love to hear what you have going on this weekend.
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I’d love to hear about any of your current faves if you’d like to shout them out in the comments section below.
Life:
Making the absolute most out of the time we have left with Bella. I’ve cooked for the dogs each morning and evening since we’ve received the initial diagnosis and have made sure to include all of her favorite things. They’ve had salmon, eggs, bacon, cheeseburgers, ground turkey, and lots of chicken. (They’ve also had a few pancakes this week. It’s so random but the dogs go crazy for them.) We had a babysitter one afternoon, so the Pilot and I took Bella on a special date, just the two of us. My mom had brought Cold Stone over for Bella, so we took it with us to the park and let her enjoy some fresh air, ice cream, and extra snuggles. We joked that to Bella this is no different than any other time. She’s used to being spoiled and snuggled constantly. I’ve cried a lot this week, but I’m determined to soak up every second I have with her. <3
An apple tasting with the kiddos. I’m trying to throw in some fun extra activities since we’ve been home so often – we’ve done quite a few art, cooking, and science experiments – and remembered doing an apple tasting when I was in elementary school. I got different varieties of apples, cut them up, and we rated each apple on a scale of 1-5. After we were done, we tallied up the scores to determine the winner. Pink lady was #1, with honeycrisp at #2, and Fuji at #3. P was not a fan of granny smith haha.
I sliced all of the remaining apples and popped them into the slow cooker with a little butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. They were AWESOME with ice cream!
Read, watch, listen:
What’s your dream movie house?
This made me LOL.
Check out this week’s podcast episode here!
Nature therapy exercises to help you live in the now.
Fashion + beauty:
Labor Day Beautycounter promo! When you spend $125, you get the melting body balm for free! This is one of my fave body moisturizers, especially as we head into drier and colder months. It’s extremely thick and moisturizing and it smells amaaaaaazing. To get to $125, I recommend added the overnight peel and All Bright C serum to your cart. If you’re a new client, add the code CHANGEBEAUTY10 for an extra 10% off. (Make sure Gina Harney is selected as your consultant!) If you need recommendations, hit me up in the comments below or send me an email and I’d love to help. [email protected]
Ordered this casual camo dress and cute leopard headband.
gap is extra 50% off sale and 40% off everything else this weekend. I’ll be stocking up on fall clothes and pajamas for the kiddos. Got them each new denim jackets with the haul.
Fitness + good eats:
60-minute circuit and Tabata class.
Couch to 10k: everything you need to succeed.
Back-to-school lunch recipes for this weirdo time.
Total body barre workout and video.
Happy Friday, friends! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by the blog today.
xo
