So wait if one of the biggest Edelstan arguments is that without Byleth Edelgard becomes a heartless and cruel ruler, why is Captains version of SS Edelgard exactly the same as her current and upcoming CF self where she is tragic and compassionate and nice to even Rhea?? Like the biggest argument for CF is that Byleth changes Edelgard for the better but there is no indication of that in the fic from the visions Edelgard has from herself in SS??

Because, apparently, it's not SS Edelgard in those visions? The chapter I just finished (26) clarified that it's actually this current Edelgard that's seeing through the eyes of SS Edelgard - but then they're not really visions then?? Because she can move around and say shit as pre ts Edelgard through the body and mouth of SS Edelgard?? Ngl it's lowkey kinda confusing, like I understand what's happening (ish) but like... how.

Like, this is what fucks me about this fic the most kinda?? Like Woobiegard is ass and everyone else is shitty, but like, is this supposed to be "canon compliant" or not? Because it was pretty much that for 20 chapters (Edelgard feeling the Divine Pulse a few times is playin' a lil' fast and loose, but the developers themselves had wanted to do something similar so it was fine pretty much. Manageable at the very least), but then we're hit with her having "visions" of the future that hit at just the right moment and in just the right way for her to never really be that inconvenienced, and now she can move around and talk and shit? Like, now we're for sure that is what is actually happening?

In a fic that was out the gate upfront "yeah no I'm getting straight fucky with some shit cuz I feel like it," this wouldn't be an issue (if it were explained and built up better). But like. Up to Chapter 20? It's like. 70k+ words of shit that is "canon compliant" (if we account for how often this fic is wrong about canon more than intentionally not following it). And it's not even like Edelgard seeing these "visions" is even gonna do anything - cut them out the story and pretty much nothing changes. Oh no, we won't know that Edelgard is scared of losing Byleth (since that hasn't been drilled into the reader's skull enough), we won't know that Byleth will totally revert back to the inhuman Ashen Demon without Edelgard (because the """subtle hints""" couldn't tell us that already), we wouldn't know that Sylvain and Ingrid become like animals if allowed to follow their totally completely destructive lifestyles that don't have Edelgard guiding their poor lost souls to salvation (cuz fuck getting mad at your CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND'S M U R D E R E R I GUESS). How will we as readers possibly understand how sad and lonely Woobiegard is without these "visions" to spoon feed us like we're fuckin' infants? Me dum me need small words!!

Like, even the "vision" of Rhea was unnecessary, since the guy already had Edelgard (go completely against her character and) empathize with Rhea in the present time. None of this shit is needed! Why's it here! Because it's not like Edelgard is the one that can change it, it's Byleth. And it's not like they're preventing her from doing certain shit in canon, because Remire happens after these "visions" start happening, which you'd think might have been given a second thought if you have such deep fears of an alternate reality where your close friends leave you - maybe they left cuz you let innocents be mutated and tortured? Just a thought!!

I fuckin' hate these "visions"!! They literally make no sense and add exactly 0 shit into the story
